I live my life drama-free, but when it comes to fishing gear, I love gossip more than a locker room full of teenage girls! Post here about new baits you hear or see in pre-ICAST. I'll go first:
-Powell Inferno micro rods (and another high-dollar series)
-Storm Arashi Crankbaits
-Abu Revo Rocket 9.0:1
-Spro Brozeye Shad
-Gammy ss EWG trebles (not the 2x ones out now).
-A bunch of baits from Big bite baits
-Abu also revamping their round reels for all you old farts
Post away!!!! I love fishing gossip!!!
I want to see the Chronarch Ci4 and the Lew's spinning tackle. Keep hoping to see a new Dobyn's rod.
holy crap, haven't heard about that ABU 9.0:1 thats crazyyy!!!
i wanna seen *** cranking sticks
see if dobyns introduces there zeta series rods
and powells new series of rods also
Oooooooo, I forgot that Abu also has a series of cranking rods on the way (Verocity?). They're red.
Daiwa Exceler
Daiwa Tatula & Tatula Type R
I would have thought Abu would do something about the Orra baitcasters, but so far it looks like the Revo Rocket and the revamped round reels are pretty much it as far as baitcasters go.
Pinnacle Perfecta 7 fishing rod and they also appear to have a new reel coming out also.

Found these on Pinnacle's Faceblah page:
That reel has Revo MGXtreme written all over it.
I love seeing all the new gear but my favorite part of ICAST is the clearance sales on the "old stuff".

Veracity. Brandon Palaniuk used one paired with a Revo MGXtreme in his 2nd-place finish in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic.

Amen.
Any pics of chronarch Ci4 surface yet?
I see Yamamoto is releasing a line of hardbaits and new plastic shapes. I love ICAST!
Glenn and some of our sponsors will be there. I know Rage Tail and MegaStrike
will be introducing several new baits. I expect some surprises from YUM, too. The
new Pinnacle gear looks awesome!
BOOYAH seems to be releasing an umbrella rig designed for hardbaits.... Also, Megastrike has shakee heads with EWG hooks. This is just flat out exciting!
Mr. Dobyn's is saying Zayta will be released by November this year. They will be the elite of the elite.
Palaniuk was slamming them using the Storm Arashi's on the Mississippi this past weekend before he was DQ'ed.
Phenix has some new models coming.

Why was he DQ'ed?
check this out. (its a post I found on TT forums):
"I cornered a Shimano factory rep at a local show last weekend. He offered the following to me with no hesitation:
The new Chronarch line will be unveiled at iCast in July. They will be based on the current 2013 JDM-only Metanium line. Sweet reels.
Sizes 50 and 150.
Pricing in the upper 200's range. The will hit stores in August. $279.99?
He could not confirm if all gear ratios will be coming for both left and right, but the current Chronarch line gives love to the lefties, so I'd imagine it will be the same deal here.
The rep also told me the Core line will not exist as a result of the up-market move of the Chronarch line. I'm assuming this means magnesium like the Metanium? Stupid of me not to ask the question."
Also this:
"The rep that told me the Core would be discontinued offered it up with no prompting on my part. I simply asked him when the Metanium line was coming to the US, and he told me it would be the 2014 Chronarch line debuting at ICast, and immediately said the Core was being discontinued as it wouldn't sell given the price discount the new Chronarch line would represent compared to it. It makes sense to me, as would a replacement for the Core line further upmarket into the $400+ range."
So basically cores are going to be discontinued and so are the chronarch e's.. should be some good sales on those soon! Also, there may be a new core reel next year.

He culled a fish on the Minnesota side of the river and it's not allowed to cull in Minnesota. Someone reported it and he lost his day 2 total, which didn't allow him to fish on day 3 because he didn't have enough weight.

That's kind of ridiculous.. Not trying to Hijack the thread but does culling harm the populations of fish somehow?

Some states DNR's think so I guess...
This time of year is really tough for me, because I know of several things that are debuting that I can't talk about! ARRGH!
But...since the cat's out of the bag now, yes Pinnacle is coming out with new rods and reels. Top-notch stuff. It's been in development for a very long time, and field tested over the past year. Can't wait to get my hands on them at ICAST!!
Hoping I can pick up the new tatula, chronarch ci4,and the new stradic ci4 with x ship to pair them with dobyns zaytas

What is "x ship"? I saw that somewhere else too
Zaytas have been said to arrive in October from Mr. Gary Dobyn's himself. 10 Models to chose from ranging from 7' to 7'9". Supposed to blow the DX away which is quite impressive if true.
Lots of pics on the Bassmaster website:
Chronarch Ci4
Abu Garcia Orra Winch
Quantum Iron
Quantum Tour MG
Quantum Energy spinning
I'm getting really, really impatient.
Here's the new Revo Rocket 9.1 from Abu. Looks pretty much like a Premier with new paint and a revamped gearbox. Should be pretty sick for flipping and other applications where you need to take line up quickly.
I hope the new CI4 comes in a 5 gear as well. I need a new cranking reel and may just wait to get one when these hit in mid sept.
Waiting for the new Chronarch is what's keeping me from getting the Exsence DC but I might still grab another Scorpion DC.
The ci4 looks like the metanium
Wanting to see more of the Quantum line and the left handed reels. The Quantum Tour MG and Quantum Energy Spinning reels look really good.
big bite baits is releasing a pretty awesome new crawdad soft plastic

Maybe other large freshwater game species for guys south of the border and down on the Amazon perhaps???? I know it would be overkill in my neck of the woods for sure

Anything in Lefty?

Isn't it called the swimming craw? I picked up some a week or 2 ago and it said "limited edition" or something like that on the bag so I think that was sort of the prototype. The swimming craw is pretty much just an average craw with a hollow mid section, nothing special

I would assume this reel is not intended for largemouth bass fishing, though it might be used for throwing enormous swimbaits. It looks to be a competitor for the Shimano TranX.
https://www.okumafishing.com/assets/catalogs/2014-Okuma-Catalog.pdf
Some new Okuma stuff. New Helios Air, 5.7 oz.
I always get excited for new baits.
Big Bite Baits' new stuff.
Real Deal Craw
Real Deal Shad
This is probably my favorite thing coming out this year- The Bronzeye Shad
thats it the real deal craw
and the swimming craw is just like the paca craw or crawpapi everyone has pretty much the same craw
Duckett fishing is revealing a new rod called the Ghost series. its right around the $99 mark. They also have sunglasses coming too!

I heard Duckett is also working on reels, but I think that's gonna be ICAST 2014.
Now that ICAST is here, thought I'd resurrect this thread.
Looks like Ardent is doing another revamp of their reels:
Apex is the name, with prices from $ 100 to $150 for the three reels shown and up to *** bearings. That blue one isn't an inshore reel either—it's a black/blue freshwater reel. If the Apex series are made in the USA, they'll definitely be on my radar.
Looks like Pflueger is making a comeback effort in the realm of baitcast reels. Tackle Tour has a photo of a new Supreme baitcaster on Facebook. It's also blue and black. I know they're almost certainly more Doyo specials, but still…
Yes the walking shad and ghost rods I am looking foward to
So the Duckett Rods with insertless guides split reel seat etc.. What do you guys think? Why are these so much cheaper than the micro magic?

Not made in the U.S - China or Korea, I can't remember

Cheaper components. Lower grade blanks. If the guides are steel with no ceramic inserts I would take a pass. Just my thoughts.
Thanks.. I love my Micro magic.. I have one and cant decide if I want to put full loyalty to Duckett yet.. or maybe buy a dobyns or falcon or powell or *** black and try them out.. eventually I want one brand though

My next one will be a micro magic or the ghost.. But I also want to try a falcon rod too.. I have the ***..
I was getting pretty loyal to lews.. My last 3 reel purchases was lews but all this new stuff is making me want to change and try some other stuff out like that new quantum iron.

My advice would be to not put all your eggs in one basket. Reels I can narrow down to straight Shimano and Daiwa, but not so much on the rods. I am getting pretty anal though. I won't buy anymore rods that have exposed threads above the reel seat. Pretty petty, but with so much competition on the market, I may as well get exactly what I want. I pretty much run all Cumaras for general purpose, Zillions for botom contact, and KLX for moving baits.

Swamplife: What do you think about the *** rods? weight? sensitivity? strength? etc?
And Hogsticker: do you have any crucials or have any thoughts on those.. my duckett is a 7'3mh that I use right now for all my bottom contact.. cuz I dont have much else.. but I am looking for a frog rod.. a thick cover rod.. and another general purpose botttom contact

Ehhhh...I posted a few weeks ago about my incident where i snapped a basicallly brand new *** blackon a hook set.. I am pretty sure I am one of the few people that this happened to. The few times i used it i enjoyed it..very light..the sensitivity is really nice. its hard to find any bad reviews on this rod. you can search the web and find a couple but not many and i think every member on bass resource who has one has bought more and really enjoy them..with that being said..since the incident i had and had to pay 25 dollar shipping and handling to send mine out for replacement. (i just sent it out monday so i still dont know if i have to pay the return fee) Im wanting to continue trying other rods...and keep in mind im one of the few with a horror story..
Sorta bummed on the new shimano release dates. TW said 7/24, i put my order in and couple days later the date is changed to 8/21. Considering canceling my order and seeing if any other retailers will get the reels sooner.....
Are you talking about the ci4? Shimano told me it would be 2 months before it's available (mid-Sept).
