Clearance Crucials 2024

fishing user avatarjtesch reply :

Local Dicks by me have Crucials and Veritas on clearance. Crucials are at $120 + 25% off for a $90 total. And they have several models including a "jerk bait" spinning rod with my name on it. Great rod for that price with their warranty, can't go wrong. Veritas worked out to like $65

fishing user avataryoungangler274 reply :

The one by me has the same deals. Also the one local to me has the lew's speed spool laser mg combo on clearance for 69.95 + 25% off. So they come out to like 55 bucks a piece. The reel alone goes for like $80 bucks normally. Needless to say I bought 3 of the combos.

Lews speed spool laser mg goes for $65 every day on ebay. But, that is a good deal as the rod is an okay rod.

fishing user avatarlmbfisherman reply :

The Crucials are very good rods, but the at that price it is great!

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Our local DSGs are in midst of a huge clearance, but I have never seen a Crucial in-store. Online yes...

I'll have to check again to see if they brought any in-store. Finger's crossed.

I have a 7-2 MH and I live in boston. Let me know if you're interested.

I'm going crucial hunting today. Thanks to OP for letting us know about the additional % off.

fishing user avatarjtesch reply :

Quick update, stopped at another area Dicks ( I have several by me) and same deals plus they had a couple of St. croix Rage's on clearance for around the same as the Crucials. I didn't bother looking closely as I'm not a big Rage fan

fishing user avatarcbass12 reply :

We have 3 stores in our area on the KS side and the only crucial I found was a 7'2" MH spinning rod. They don't carry the rage. I wanted a 7'1" ML Crucial and the only store that has them was Basspro's website. I had to pay full price online but luckily they told me they would give me a refund of $30 when it arrives due to Cabelas having them on clearance for $129. Was really surprised that they would price match.

Happy to be of service. If you think about it, one of the best deals ever. Your buying from Dicks so no questions as to the lifetime warranty being good and your getting a great rod for $90 and if you break it a year from now you'll get a better rod (I think) and I've read that the new Crucials will only have a one year warranty so your getting the last of a great warranty also

By the way, I have 2 of those rods and they are great. I use them for all kinds of medium weight bottom contact stuff and for pitching jigs in the 1/2oz range. They have several at my local Dicks and I may jump on a couple more just to stick away. I kind of think they are in between medium and medium heavy but rod ratings are all over the place so it's hard to say but I can tell you it will handle a big bass

Yeah I am really stoked. Just got out and gave it a whirl and she is a great rod for sure. Very fast and light!

BTW there was one left- 7'11" MHXF pitching rod. In West Springfield MA. No mention of the sale anywhere but they rang up sale'd alright!

Haha. Had the same idea. I just picked up a 6'-10" casting rod. Took it for a test drive right away.

The cashier took my $10 survey coupon too. $79 for a crucial is awesome.

Yeah mine was for frogs and jigs so it was a thought, but man... 7'11" is just too much. The only flippin' I do is on the BBQ ;)

they had a 6'8" drop shop medium at the dedham, ma location if u wanted that... just fyi but that was last week. dont know if they have it now.

fishing user avatarjtesch reply :

Don't go by their computer inventory cause it's not even close to right

fishing user avatarDan: reply :

If you are looking for specific models, PM me and I will see if I can find what you're looking for near you.

Look for the older model Curados also. They are $99.97 right now with an additional 25% off which makes them right around $75...that's an awesome deal.

Also, check out the Field and Stream Tec Spec Elite rods. They aren't name brand but they are clearance +25% off and they are great rods for the price.

All rods, reels, and combos that are clearance (.97 or .47 endings) should be 25% off the ticketed clearance price.

Buying on Ebay sucks. You never know what you're going to get! At least buying from a store you can take something back if it's eff'd up.

The MH-F would be my choice, a little more forgiving for the spinnerbaits. That rod should do the job

fishing user avatarSmallmouth Hunter reply :

If your local DSG doesn't carry the veritas anymore, then head to gander mountain (online). They have veritas rods for $65 if you use the "gmt5" code for 5 off, and with free shipping.

Mine has some......but because of the surburbanites' fascination with running, that's mostly what the stores carry other than other sports parents can blow money on for their kids.

fishing user avatarjtesch reply :

I have 1 buy me that doesn't, a few others with limited and several with huge fishing sections, the Chicago suburbs have a DSG every 5 miles or so

Buying on ebay is fine as long as you have good reading comprehension skills. If the item does not match the sellers description then ebay will refund your money. So unless you can't read, you should know exactly what you are getting. If not, then you get it free.

Went back to DSG yesterday and found three veritas rods for half off the sale price. That's $35 bucks. I bought all of them.

They also had the 7'2" crucial mhf for half off 129. Which is $65. Wow!

I got two veritas instead though.......

Its too bad shipping is so prohibitive- I'd buy it and ship it to someone for cost.

For the fellas on here from Mass, I just swung by the Dick's in Saugus.

They had Crucials priced at $129.99 (no extra discount).  Had a Mojo Bass Casting Swimbait rod that was $82. Some Bandit cranks were $2.50.  Was able to scoop a Lexa 2500 for $71.  On display, they had the Lexa 100 for 74$ but didn't have any in stock and wouldn't sell me the display model....

Didn't have time to get a deeper look around, may swing back later one night this week after work.

Don't ask the sales guys. Theres only two in there that know the fishing section.

I picked one up 3 days ago for 79.99 in saugus. I had a $10 off coupon for doing the survey.

Picked up a 7'2" M/XF and 7'1" ML/F spinning rod for $129 each at BPS today. I'm jealous of you guys finding these rods at dicks for half that price. I've called around to every dicks on the Kansas side of the metro area and have only found one 7'2" MH/F spinning rod which does me no good. At least BPS price matched the cabelas sale price.

fishing user avatarbillm67 reply :

I am in Central Pa and I picked up a 6'6" Veritas casting rod for $35 and the store on the other side of the river I got a Lew Speed Stick combo $35. The Speed Spool is the graphite framed model and it is plenty smooth. The rod is a 6"6" IM6 rod with micro guides. For $35 for the combo it's a steal!

Did they scan the Crucials at the register? It's possible they don't have the Crucials marked but they should be clearance priced nationwide, although there are always a few exceptions. As for the Lexa, have them scan it, if it ends with .97 cent ending then they should sell the display. Ask for a manager if you need to. They may not give you an extra discount besides the clearance promotion but they should sell it to you.

Yes, get them to scan them. Mine was marked on clearance at 119.99 but when I asked him to scan it, it came up to 89.99. He was even unaware of the price change.

I actually didn't have them scan the Crucial.  There were a few Mojo Bass with the regular $109.99 on the tag, with the same price on a red sticker next to it.  I figured the red sticker was there to show a sale, but when I had the man scan it with his gun, it still came up $109.99. Also for any local guys, the 2 Crucials left were the 6'8 and 7'2 Worm and Jig casting models.

Like many people have been saying, not all of the employees are aware of the sale. The Lexa 100 on display was $99.97, the employee was telling me it was that price, but after scanning it came out to $74.97.  Maybe tomorrow night I will try and find a manager to see if I can buy the display model.  I was happy enough walking out of there with the Lexa 2500 (which I just paired with a Lamiglas Excel II 712 from Ron at Valley Sports!).

That's because that's not clearance. The sign will say, albeit in small print, that clearance items end with .97 or .47 cent endings. The Mojos at 109.99 might have a red sticker on them but if it doesn't have that clearance .97 or .47 cent ending then it means something else.

Dan:, I realized that after doing some more snooping around in the store.  I'm curious as to why some rods are discounted elsewhere but not at every store, maybe only specific models have the extra markdown.

Dang!!!!!!! I have picked several of these up over the last two years and I get giddy when I find them for $45. That is a heck of a price on a really quality reel.

fishing user avatarFishTank reply :

I picked up the 7' MH Crankbait Crucial Rod today as well.  It was with coupons and a $10 reward, only $57.  It balances nicely with my Curado.  It has a little bit of faster tip than what I like in crankbait rod but it does cast extremely well.  On the hook sets though, you have to be careful and kind of be easy going.  It is very easy to just rip the crankbait out of the fishes mouth.  I lost several fish with it today because of this.  It took me awhile to figure out I need to be a little more patient with this rod but overall it will work just fine.

fishing user avatarmasterbass reply :

I picked up a crucial spinning 6'10" med/fast which is listed as a jerkbait rod.  I used a $10 coupon plus I had a $20 gift card so out of pocket I spent $64.  How do you guys feel about these rods?  I read a lot of bad reviews about them.  I haven't fished it yet, but it definitely is tip heavy.  How is the sensitivity?  But I figure I can't get a better rod for this price.
