Ok looking for what your using and why, I'm using baitcasters and haven't had much luck with floro .
What kind of FC are you using? I like Sunline Sniper.
Use Sunline Sniper FC, best I used. To me, it cast like mono. Cost a little more than some of the other FC but well worth it. I do use mono on topwater and some crankin'.
Big Game except for jigs and t rigs.
10-12 and just bought16# FC Sniper. I have 6# Trilene100%FC but only used it a few times and took it off. The Sniper has worked very well for me management wise strength wise longevity the only complaint is the stretch has been too much for my liking. My main use for it has been Keitech swimbaits
oh not a mono user
AbrazX on pretty much everything over 10lbs, under 10lbs is sunline sniper
Co-polymer for me so far. P-Line CXX and P-Line Fluoroclear.
Seaguar Tatsu FC 15-20# for bottom-contact baits
Sufix Siege Mono 12# for everything else (except frogs)
On baitcasters I use Berkley Big Game mono for backing, and Power Pro braid as main line. Sometimes with a Yo-Zuri or Seaguar fluorocarbon leader.
Braid on EVERYTHING. Leaders.....Big Game, InvisX, and CXX. Going to try Flouroclear in 6lb though this year on a smaller spinning reel that has a deep spool and doesn't perform braid very well.
On baitcasters, nearly 100% fluoro for everything. I think I have one outfit with mono or copoly on it. For spinning, nearly all braid with various leaders (mono/copoly/fluoro).
-T9
I run almost all Fluro. My favorite is Sunline FC Sniper.
If you guys like Sunline FC Sniper, it is definitely worth trying Shooter FC Sniper (their new formula). I think it is significant upgrade over the previous versions in terms of limpness/smoothness and overall manageability. I have been fishing 12 pound and 8 pound line for the past month, and decided to switch all my fluorocarbon to it next year(I have tried Sniper/Shooter, Seaguar Invizx, Toray Super Hard Strong). I have been using the 8 pound line for my BFS set up and have been fishing small jigs on rocks, and the line has been handling abrasion very very well for me. Only disadvantage I see is that it is a bit thicker than your standard ratings.
Most of the time: Berkley Trilene Big Game
Ocassionally: Berkley Trilene XT, YoZuri Hybrid and PLine CXX
Fluoro on most everything for me.
I got tired of the lack of quality info regarding flourocarbon lines and how they stack up against each other. To solve this problem I decided to do my own test by buying a bunch of popular choices and putting them up against each other for a season. Some of the lines used include the following:
Seaguar Tatsu
Seaguar Invisix
Seaguar Abrisix
Sunline Shooter
Sunline Sniper
Berkeley Trilene 100%
P-Line Flourocarbon
Without writing a book I will just say that going forward the only flourocarbon lines I will be buying will be Sniper and Tatsu.
As far as mono goes I used to fish From end XL and big game quite a bit. Now I have been using Suffix Seige and will be trying Sunline Defier (green spool) this season.
Of my casting rods and reels I would say 8 get flourocarbon, 3 get mono, 2 get braid, and 1 will get a hybrid line.
Don't use mono for anything anymore..just don't see the need too.
I use Sniper for all bottom contact presentation's except for punching matt's, and yo zuri for all moving baits..
Mike
Depends , I have braid , fluorocarbon , monofilament , co polymer for diff rod setups . All have their benefits and weaknesses , just depends on which situation it best serves at that time .

Big Game except for Punching.
today I went out at 9:30, temps was 34*, was 29* at 8:00 am. My plan was to finesse fish a plastic craw on 6lb mono in deepest part of pond figuring the bass would be holding deep and since cold, I wanted a slow presentation.
I chose the mono to help maintain a very slow drop on initial cast and jigging off bottom and let dropping again. It was pretty successful with 2 large mouth and 1 real nice pickerel in hour.
Interestingly, for the first 30 minutes I had the craw t-rigged with claws forward going for a crawfish "defensive" look, zero hits. I then t-rigged with claws facing backward and caught bass on 2nd cast, then 2 more in next 20 minutes.
I use mono for : finesse rod (6 lb mono); crank bait rod and single hook rod(Spiderwire Ultracast Ultimate).
I use fluoro for: jerkbait rod (8 lb fluor).
I also have 6lb PLine CXX X-Tra Strong on 5' ultralight trout rig I have been using for some very lightweight finesse stuff.
Trilene XL green for top water
Seagur FC for most ever thing else
Braid on the flip stick & Spinning rod
I don't fish with any braid.
Monofilament line is available in 3 line materials: Nylon, Fluorocarbon & Copolymer.
Within the "Mono Trio", I've literally phased fluorocarbon out of my life (and loving it).
WHY?
1) No matter which line material you choose, I'm pretty sure that fish can see your line,
but I'm equally sure that they really don't give a darn (their stomach contents substantiates that hypothesis)
2) Fluorocarbon has shamefully poor knot-strength (cleaves easily, which leads to premature fracture)
3) Fluoro mono has a high 'line diameter-to-line test' ratio which generates inordinately high water-resistance
4) Fluorocarbon leader is stiffer and more wiry than the titanium wire leaders I use for northern pike

What are you using for your jigs and t rigs?
I have been using Big Game in 14lb for most applications when using my baitcasters (cranks, jigs, spinnerbaits, etc). I usually use fluoro 4-8lbs for ned and dropshot on spinning. Should I be doing something different?

Whatever tickles your fancy, if you feel you are doing fine why change ?

I usually have Red Label fluoro on my jig and T rig rods. I do have at least one with Big Game though. I don't have any spinning rods spooled with fluoro anymore. All of them are braid with fluoro leaders except one I use for casting small cranks.
I use Red label for all of my deep water/finesse presentations, Silver Thread copolymer on just about everything else. I use braid for my frog rod and when I fish jigs in the pads.
My father uses Trilene XL instead of Silver Thread and it's just a matter of preference. When I take one of his rods with me I notice, but it's still good line.
I have a flipping stick and frog rod with braid and the ret of my set ups are mono and I feel I have no disadvantage at all. I'm using Big Game 10lb and 12lb on my cranking and topwater set ups and I'm using Spider Wire ultimate Mono on everything else, I really love this line, it has a really low stretch, excellent knot strength and the abrasion resistance is incredible. I do like Big Game almost as much, the difference is the spider wire Ultimate Mono has less stretch and it is super thin, the 10lb Spider wire is the same diameter as 8lb Big Game and the 12lb diameter is the same as 10lb Big Game, the stuff is really nice.
I use Yo-Zuri for almost everything now.
I use all 4, for different techniques.
I run Sufix 832 braid with Trilene 100% professional grade fluoro leaders when necessary. Everyone seems to use something different and the key is to find something that works for you. Do some experimenting to see what you like, then stick with it!
I use all braid on my spinning combos, mainly because I never could learn to manage flouro on a spinning reel. Tried to spool it every way possible.
My baitcasting combos are mostly Suffix or Big Game, I like the Suffix better as a line but the Big Game is super budget friendly. Vicious flouro on T-rig and deep crankbait. Power Pro Silk on pretty much everything else.
I use Berkley 100% Fluoro for almost anything casting other than topwaters, pitchin'/punchin'/froggin'. On spinning reels I'll run either braid or fluoro.
I am using Trilene XT monofilament for everything. It works for me and the presentations I prefer. Trilene XT way over tests on "break strength". I pick which XT line to use based more on "diameter" than break strength. I am pretty sure I could tow my truck with 17 pound test Trilene XT.

Well scratch out my 10# sniper I toasted about 200' of it today, spool held nearly 100yrds. I bought a Daiwa SV105P and had 20# S8S on it able to get some good force in a cast and management was fine down to 2 clicks so last night took it off and put on 10#SniperFC. I went out today and had brakes set high to half way10 clicks and was throwing a 3.8" Fat Impact with 1/4oz jighead doing ok but distance wasnt there. I set the brakes back to where I did for my braid, 2 clicks, BIG MISTAKE I gave a good heave and oh thats not good, spent about 30 minutes on the shore trying to get the birdsnest out, decided to give in. I pull the spool out and ripped the line off and only about 80' or so of the line was salvaged.
10 and 12 FC for SBs and med cranks
14 sunline for swim jigs and pitchin light t rigs
50lb 832 frog and flippin
10 or 12 mono for poppers and sexy dawgs
10lb nanofil with 6lb FC leader for ned
Trilene xt and Sufix 832 braid.
Vast majority is mono (or Co-Polymer). Reasons are price, handling and I grew up using mono. Works pretty good for most anything. Of course, just like most everybody else, I use fluoro or braid in certain instances. Not sure I need the fluoro, but braid sure is nice when I am throwing back into lily pads and other junk. Hate losing lures.

I see TW carries:
Spiderwire Ultracast Ultimate Monofilament
Spiderwire Ultracast Ultimate Mono Clear
Spiderwire Ultracast Ultimate Mono Brown Recluse
Which are you using? I assume one of the first two. Will have to give some a try.
Seaguar Invizx for me

My sentiments exactly.
12 lb Big Game because it is inexpensive. Or Sufix 832 braid. For spinning I use 10 lb power pro to a leader.

The Ultimate Mono and ultimate mono clear is one in the same, if you look you'll notice the mono is only available in 14lb test. The reason it is listed like that is because the clear is the new packaging, when it came out it was only available as clear but now they added the brown recluse to it. So I use the clear and to me this is the best mono I ever used, period!!!
Experimenting now with sinking braid (Sufix Gravity2) with and without a flouro leader.
I use very cheap mono as a backer for all my reels. I use fluro for everything. I like BPS XPS fluro & viscous. I'm going to switch my jerkbait rod to mono so it helps the bait suspend. My brother in law used braid with a fluro leader on everything. He just started doing that & I'm not sure of his reasoning.
Seaguar Tatsu and Kanzen
Yozuri Hybrid for moving baits
IMO flouro is the only choice for bottom contact baits. I go with either mono or hybrid line for moving baits, and braid for frogs
I just got into bass fishing and only got setup for now but i used 12# Yo Zuri hybrid since i think that can be a good all around line. Am i wrong?

No, you're not wrong.
I use the 12# for cranks and will this year start useing it for spinnerbaits also..It doesn't float or sink, it just kind stays where you put it.
It's fairly sensative enough to use for bottom contact presentation's but not ideal.
12# would scare me in heavy vegetation, but with it's 19lb breaking strength you can get by. I know guy's, and some on here who use 20# floro for flippin and not braid, and they do fine.
Good Luck and Welcome
Mike
First year and I have been using Maxima Ultra Green, 15lb mono. Seems to be working fine for all applications, cranks, top, and spinners.
Am i wrong here?
Big Game for almost all baitcasting applications, Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Cabela's house brand mono for spinning.
Tom
General Purpose
Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 on baitcasters, #4 on spinning tackle
I am also a fan of Izorline which we don't see much chatter about
Monofilament for treble hooks
Have been using #12 Sunline Defier, but recently upgraded to #18 Sunline Armilo Defier
Fluorocarbon
Tatsu #15
Braid
Tuf-Line #40 Tournament 8
Mono, Simply I like the stretch and cost.
Bass sunline structure f.c. for worms and jigs. Big game 12 15 or 20 for everything else. Braid for frogs. Have braid on my c rig rod right now. I like it so far. With big game leader
Both
Seaguar Tatsu is such a rip-off. But I love it!
I like cabelas 100% fulorocarbon and suffix siege mono
Either Yo-zuri or big game.
I use monofilament fluorocarbon line for some presentations when I want stiff, stretch, and fast sinking characteristics, monofilament nylon line for some presentations for more flexible, stretch, and less dense characteristics, and braided superline for most presentations for small diameter with strength and little/no memory.
I use a combo of braided superline and monofilament fluorocarbon leader also.
I used to use some monofilament co-polymer lines too, but pretty much use braids for those situations now.

Nope. Whatever works for you. I use a Green colored mono in 12-15 for all moving bait applications as well.
