yea man just messin with ya, its a helluva bass!
Thank you sir nice profile pic.
Basshunter.....nice fish and congrats. Frog fishing, as well as top water fishing is great fun. My favorite! I would suggest getting a scale even a cheapo. I would put your fish somewhere near the 4.5-5lb range. I don't want to be the one to burst you bubble and please don't take this as being mean. I think a scale will help you with reference to your fish weights from now on! Still great fish, and congrats!
Jeff
No wories guys no worries.. ill post up more pics of how else and why I think its around the weight I mentioned
3lb 7 oz on a scale
4 lb 10 oz and 4 lb 12 oz on igfa certified scale
4 lb 8 oz on scale
5 lb 3 oz on scale
5 lb and 7 lb 1 oz on scale
And my biggest 8 lb 9 oz on a scale
Just some photos for reference with EXACT weights!
Jeff
Im with Mod on this. You should have seen the first "8# bass" I caught... more like a 5
Either way its awesome. Any bass over 5# top water is a real rush

BassHunter, it's a nice fish what ever it weighs. As long as you had a good time catching it the actual size isn't important. As close as I get is a length measurement based on a mark on my rods, a scale weight or picture only happens if someone is walking by.
well thank you sirsnookalot preciate it and I just got in from walmart bought a mustad scale from there with built in measuring tape so hopefully will be getting estimate on weights an measurements for now on.On 4/29/2012 at 1:43 PM, SirSnookalot said:BassHunter, it's a nice fish what ever it weighs. Hell I would given you one..lol. Got a couple as gifts, been sitting under some rubble in the trunk of my car, never been used, don't even know what brand they are.......haha.
Walmart is carrying a decent line of Mustad equipment, I really like their curved pliers, makes hook removal on a larger fish much easier, I've got one I use offshore.
Hard to tell in pictures, like already mentioned its a nice fish, good catch.
.
7lb 7oz
Pictures are sometimes tough to judge weights with. I can tell you bass down here begin to get there distinctive hardened jaw line at around 4lbs. I would guess the weight of your fish to be around 3.5 to 4 pounds based on the look of her jaw. Comparing to the fish from northern states won't help much as their fish are much fatter. It's a great fish regardless!
Thank you guys.... an preciate it..
YEa, 24.5 inch fish healthy is around 5 pounds. Im terrible with guessing weight which is why i bought a scale.

Now, i wouldn't put that thing in the 3-4 pound class. I would settle between 5-6 pounds give or take. But it seems you have a great attitude with the realization of needing a scale. Keep em coming. Look at RW's for reference of a 7 pounder. Keep em coming
Yes I am preciative of the advice all of you guys give me the more I know the more I soak it up an get better at what ever the situation may be.. and thank you guys again.

The reason you struckout there is the shock boats are working that canal hard for some time now.
Business has been great and the fishing has been incredible.Things should slack off soon and I can start fishing again.
well im sure it will man... im sure being a captain is tough but im guessing it pays off to be a good angler like you...
I'll echo what everyone is saying: Nice fish, regardless of weight! What you remember about them is the fight, how tired your arms were, how it was bigger than your buddies', etc!
lol thanks.. it was a big one it looks alil smaller in pics. To be honest.. but I'm still happyOn 5/1/2012 at 12:18 AM, osbornj2 said:I'll echo what everyone is saying: Nice fish, regardless of weight! Hey bass hunter954 yur bass was a nice one, my bass that I had to put on two scales gave me my numbers and I won 200 bucks off the l s I guess it was gonna be against me bud and his friend so they went out to get his scale that's stopped at 8.5 lbs and my bass hit the bottom of his scale and had more to go and my bass was old and u couldnt see his spots or colors that well and we had to pull out another scale and I got my lbs after leading out the scale 5 times and my bass was 27 1/2 inches long so that's my story but cat hint a bass on a top water frog is the best and u knw it's a lunker when they just want to go deep. Great ctach angel.
Yes everyone the bass on the white scale is the one I caught out of a pond no bigger then a Lil kids scooter field . I will post more pics after I learn how to. Killingitoutdoors.com
The actual weight only matters if you are in a contest, or if it is a PB for you. Otherwise just make a guess. I got my PB smallmouth recently, and didn't have a scale with me. I may have guessed him a little light, just to be safe. But if I guessed light, it makes the mark easier to beat.
Nice bass, BTW!
thank you guys and preciate it

I agree, since I don't compete weights and personal bests aren't real important to me. I will admit I do get curious if it's a very large fish, but not enough to carry a scale. A tape measure is the determining factor in whether a fish is legal or not.
Nice catch for sure.
