Swimbaits (Hudds), jigs, and shaky heads are what has gotten me the most at Grove. My avatar is from there. Got her on a shaky head on the wooded side where there is a lay down going into the water. The "cove" on the far end has produced some good ones for me as well. Better wear bug spray over there though, lots of tics! Its been a while since i have fished there. The fishing has been good on Glenn Springs so I haven't hit any of the local ponds.
Hope this helps!

Hahahahaha! Man we have been catching a decent amount out there fishing the tops of mats with hollow body frogs & punching them with a 1 1/2 oz punch weight & Rage Lobsters. Find the mats that sound like rice krispy treats (snap -krackle-pop) sound & fish them. That sound is bluegill feeding on insect hatches under the mat sou you know bass are not far. That has been our pattern the last couple weeks. We caught a few cranking off some points but the vast majority have been from the mats.

That was our plan the last few weeks to. We've caught some OK numbers, but also struck out. The other weekend we were there and most of the mats were gone. Look for the black Jon boat with blue and gray interior next time. Will be pulled by a big black 4dr jeep and red trailer. Come up and say hello.

Man I will do that! I will be out there Sunday afternoon. I will be in a green jon boat (14ft) with a gray casting deck. I drive a white Toyota Prerunner with a black trailer. Holla if you see me & I don't see you.

Let us know how the fishing is at Gibson. I been wanting to go there for a little while.
I caught my best bass so far this year on a NorthStar Original Swim Jig (bluegill)/
Rage Tail Shellcracker (green pumpkin, purple, gold). Last Saturday the big bass
was caught on a Siebert Outdoors Swim Jig (black)/ Back hald of a purple GYCB
Swimming Senko.
More generally, soft plastics seem to be the best choice for most guys at Grove.
thanks guys, i may be at glenn springs sunday also. ill be on the 17 foot aluminium jon boat decked front and back with a nissian 40 on it. i drive a white f250.as far as grove i may have just been in the wrong areas it seems. thx again
ive been wanting to hit gibson also, i read somewere they may have dropped a few 14lbers in that lake
I am thinking of Glenn Springs Sunday as well. I will update if I do go!

good deal, yea i wasnt able to go some things came up. is it still thick with the yucky stuff on the banks? i assume yes since you caught so many on a frog.
Anywhere from 10-15' out from the bank in most places there is grass/weeds.
Jeff
last time i was there a few weeks ago there was alot of what i call snot all over the water near the banks, made it much harder to get were i needed to be. had to try and punch through or use a frog.
There was mostly grass. I did run into the snot in some places. I dislike it greatly and just move!

To get there take Johnson Road one block north of Wolf River, immediately across from
the soccer field behind Houston Middle School. Turn left. Follow the road approximately
4 blocks and make a left where you will see the parking lot. The pond is about 100 yards
down the entrance path.

At Grove??? Been pretty slow there lately. Way to go, Kent!
It's been REALLY slow for me. Caught fish on the Senko, nothing on the Fat Ika.
thanks guys!!!
Two monsters today.
This morning on a Mizmo tube, black with red flakes.
This afternoon, NorthStar Original Swim Jig (bluegill)/ Rage Tail Menace.
Bonus: I was broken off by the afternoon fish last Friday. I was testing 4#
P-line and broke off on the knot. Disposed of the line on the reel and everything
left on the spool. Today I recovered a Sugioi #4 EWG and a Rage Tail Lizard.
Roadwarrior, I finally got my account work. This is Ryan Michael. I saw you at Grove last Saturday morning while I was there with a friend. We stayed about 2.5 hours without a bite. I'm glad to hear that you caught stuff on Sunday. What time a day did you get those on Sunday? Were you down on the far end again? Also, what size hook are you using? And thank you so much for the information the other day.
My better fish are usually caught between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. I have been having some luck
with the Rage Lizard, Senko, Mizmo tube, Norman Fat A and NorthStar Original Swim Jig with Rage
Menace and Shellcracker trailers. I'm generally using a 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook for most soft
plastics.

Going out this weekend?

How did it go?
Struck out yesterday and this morning.
Any idea when fall turnover might be?
I also wanted to share a place a friend of mine from work told me about. He is from Rossville and told me he helped sponsor a fishing tournament for children a few years back and they stocked this pond. It in the back of Hunting farms development but they only built a few homes. Once you get back there it's like having your own private small lake, it's pretty big. He has told me there are plenty of cat fish in it. I fished it yesterday though without a bite even though decent sized fish could be seen jumping out of the water apparently feeding. If anyone wants to add it to your list of places to go it's quite peaceful. It's just of 57 (Poplar ave) ave you go through Rossville, you drive to the back of the development and will see the fishing sign.

Caught a nice 2.5 to 3 pound bass this morning at Grove (31 May 2014)! Caught it on a 7 inch worm using an Owner hook with weedless set up. It was the only bite I got, but it was worth it. Was on the far side of the lake near the culvert casting along the bank. Tried some other plastics, no luck.
I had a little luck last week with The Bug.
Where is grove park from hackscrossvand 385?
