Anyone have an updated fishing report for Pickwick? Has the water temperature dropped?
Right Now dont know anything about Pickwick or Kentucky Lake but if need anyhelp with sardis or enid i could of assistance
The temps have to have dropped with all the cooler night/day temperatures. I'm hitting Pickwick this Monday and Tuesday... Want to link up?
im planning on being there on wednesday.. havent been since late may early june so im excited!! The fishing was great before it got so hot. I'm hoping its back on again!
I am heading down to Lake Fork with my son Wednesday for a few days, but I plan to hit Pickwick hard starting next week. I'd appreciate any feedback as y'all ifs it his week. I'll do the same next week. Wh knows, maybe we can het a few of us up there at the same time.
Good Luck at Lake Fork. I was there Sept. the 22nd and 23rd. They had held the McDonalds tournament the weekend before we arrived and the fish took a pretty bad beating. We didn't catch many fish, but I did catch an 8.68 pounder. Caught the big one on a Norman DD14 in about 15 to 20 foot of water.
Nice fish. what were the water temps at pickwick then. im hoping they will be low low 80's when we get there on wednesday. I'm so ready to get back up there. hope we get into the smallmouth like we did last time!!!!!
im gonna fish yellow creek for the first time saturday. can anyone tell me what to throw and where
They were having a tourney out of Florence this past weekend and I saw a lot of guys throwing spinners along the bank. I didn't land a fish, but it was enjoyable being on the water.
Ive fished yellow creek near goat island and aqua but havnt been there since the spring. But when im at pickwick i usually go into the shoots and everything where the houses are and fish boat docks and lay downs some shallow especially out there near goat island. Theres a few islands out there that have good points that you can try with a deep crankbait or carolina rig but i would go into the shallow parts, especially since its cooling off, and try fishing docks and laydowns with shakey heads, texas rigged brush hogs, and mostly any soft plastic your comfortable with. You could try topwater but idk since i havnt been there in so long.
Edit: also try the otherside of the bridge near aqua but idk if you can get back there with how shallow it is.
triglet - I will also be at Pickwick on Wed. I am bringing my wife and we will stay over and fish Thurs. if the fish are biting. mr mallard, I will post the water temp when I return.
lynyrdsky1 - hate to show my ignorance of the area, but what is "aqua" and where is it located?
aqua is the major boat dock located close to the mississippi/tennessee border. It has a giant dry dock and regular dock area. Theres a bridge right there near and a boat ramp as well. Its usually congested thats why i usually put in at goat island
Fished Yellow Creek Monday. Water temperature 75 degrees. Shad all over the place and the bass are active. Very windy day but productive. Cranks and T-rigged Rage Tail Craw seemed to work best. Good Luck!

i just seen this this morning. we had a great day on wednesday got to jp coleman around 550 and didnt leave till almost 8 lol. water temp was 72 on wednesday wind wasnt to bad just figure out where want to fish, go past it and let the wind push you along. think we caugh around 50 bass. caught 12 or so that were 18 inches and over biggest one was 21 inches smallies and largemouth mix. i've really got to get over to yellow creek and indian creek. I've never fished either one. We find it very hard to leave thegravel beds and the brown fish ;D. I did however get to see something ive never seen wednesday night. After the sun went down the shad/shiners whatever they were. They were about 2 inches long and jumping everywhere. It's all you could see if you looked down the channel. I expected the bass to be busting the top after them. But the bite completely died when this happened!
Just returned from Pickwick. Water temp was 69 to 70. Thought the bite would be great, but it was bad. I talked to several other folks who said the same thing. Maybe I'm just fishing it wrong! Caught a 16" smallie first thing, then only caught 8 to 10 small spots in a day and a half.
Had an FLW College tournament there on Saturday. We only had 7 pounds and 14 won. They were caught in the grass and so were most of the fish for the other 13 teams that beat us. Where were we? Rocks and wood. > Oh well! I would hit the grass next time. That seemed to be key.
I am headed down to Pickwick for the first time at the end of the month. Any suggestions on what to look for as far as bass fishing goes? We are staying a week so we hope we can find something going. Also any suggestions on a good place to stay as far as hotel/motel goes. My buddy was looking to stay in the florence area but we are not dead set on that.
Any help would be great
Wolfranger the resort up on yellow creek is a good place just forget the name of it. Far as fishing goes since the temperature is dropping, fish are goin to somewhat move shallower and into the grass and in around boatdocks and shoots. You can try points off islands as well. Really its kind of a toss up right now on whats working so u should try whatever
Saturday, October 9, Tennessee River below Pickwick Dam:
Water flow ~15,000cfs, water temperature 71*-73*.
Third cast around 7:15 = 7 lb largemouth (weighed)
Megabass PopMax, frog pattern.
Fishing artificial lures produced a few fish and a variety
of species. Around noon we switched to live bait which,
as you would expect, dramatically improved the bite.
The smallmouth have not shown up, although we did manage
to catch five, the largest 2 1/2-3 lbs. As the water cools down,
fishing will improve. Water flow continues to be the biggest
issue. Fish during the week if you can, weekends will continue
to be problematic due to the drought.
Good luck!
8-)
I hope this rain this week helps been kind of treacherous especially at Sardis
I had a front row seat for RW's 7 lbr, that fish almost swallowed about a 3" plug, you literally had to look inside the fish's mouth to see it, lol.
OK, I am about ready to give up! Went back to Pickwick yesterday. Started about 7:30 and stopped about 2:30. Thought the conditions were perfect for most of the day. Caught practially nothing!!!! Fished Yellow Creek and the "weed beds" in the main lake opposite the mouth of Yellow. I tried crankbaits and rattletraps, mainly in shad and sexy shad colors, both deep and shallow. Tried worms, shades of green and purple. Green lizard Texas rigged. All to no avail! Is it just me or, are the bass not biting?????
Oldgolf try going in back of shoots and fish somewhat shallow around boatdocks especially in the coves. If you fine brush piles up against the docks you should strike gold
What are you fishing around the docks?
texas rigged anything shakey head anything. Probably use baby brush hogs in anything watermelon or pumpkin and use shakey head worms on a shakey head rig any color but i was doing good on june bug and watermelon candy. Weight wise i would use lighter stuff but its up to you
where r u putting in at yellow creek?
I do put in at Yellow Creek.
no where goat island, state line like what ramp
sorry RW but i dont think ive ever said that i remember i told you ive never been below or near the dam and i remember telling you that i had been there but just in yellow creek out there near goat island. I went there in may like i told you and then i recently went there i think 2 weeks ago and put in at goat island again
sorry for the miscommunication
I must have misunderstood. I have deleted my post.

ok thanks didnt want people to think me a lier
I put in at the stateline ramp between TN and MS. I have put in at the Pickwick State Park a few times and ran across to Dry Creek.
ok the past times ive been has been outof goat island but ive fished over there near stateline over there near aqua on the other side of the bridge. Depending on how shallow it is back there you should be able to find fish in brush piles and theres a pretty good shallow point out there but idk if its deep enough to get back there
thanks
