Posts about NOVA fishing have slowed recently, maybe everyone is having as tough a time as we are. Anyway, in the interests of livening things up, here is a report summarizing our pond hopping experiences the past three weeks.
From 10-15 to 10-16 we caught 10 fish, all on swim senkos and all dinks except one.
..another dink.., well, maybe not to our son, he seems pretty happy with his catch..
..and finally, another...
..the largest was 2-7...
I haven't had a chance to really fish for bass . Might try to sneak in a few hours on Tuesday. Interested since we have the day off?
On 10/30, we caught 3, all on c-rigs, the largest was 3-9 and is below, the smallest was 2 even. In between the dinkfest (10/15) and 10/30, we went out twice and caught nothing. I can tell you the swim senko bite has come and gone. Interesting disparity between the size of our catch earlier, and more recently.

Lets do it. Any ideas as to where? I've been itching to try beaverdam, haven't been there in months.
Shore fish or by boat/kayak?
This is the only thing I've caught in the last 2-3 weeks
Been by a few Burke ponds and caught 4 all about 1-5 to 2 lbs, 2 on crank baits and 2 skipping senkos under a doc. Caught three at fountainhead today all under 2 lbs. One was by a lay down and two at drop-offs all on senkos.
How's the wrist, Andrew?
I went out tonight at my spot down here at school. Managed two on a topwater and one on a texas rig 10" power worm. The first one on the topwater was TINY, like barely bigger than the Yo-Zuri walking bait I used. The second was probably close to 2.5lbs and the power worm was probably just under 3lbs. I was glad to get a few topwater bites, the water isn't too cold yet...
BTW, if you like walk the dog baits, try this one:

They have a soft squishy coating on them and they walk VERY well.

Not too great. I'm thinking I might have to learn to use a baitcaster right handed .
I'm going to see a doctor to make sure there's nothing seriously wrong with my wrist.
Ewww, you don't want that! Get to the Dr!
Anyone pond hopping Sunday morning?
Rob, what is that rod in your avatar? Did you get a new one?
QuoteAnyone pond hopping Sunday morning?
Can't this week, how about next week?
Heya guys, haven't fished too much lately, just hit my favorite striper spot last night but I think it's still a bit early, only hit one 19in - 3lber
A week ago Andrew and I hit up the potomac without too much but we did hit a few cat fish.
Team Hobie =D
Andrew is the only one with enough balls to stand up on the yak on the potomac !
This pic isn't exactly recent, but it's the last fish I caught. Almost 1 month ago. I've only been out about 2 times at night since then though so I can't complain.
Are you guys catching catfish with bait or lures?
My report: I went shoreline fishing the potomac last weekend with no success. There are a lot of leaves that interfere with my casting. Also, the water level has dropped dramatically. The lowest I've seen in a long time.
QuoteRob, what is that rod in your avatar? Did you get a new one?
Dan, I am up to 8 Kistlers now. The pic in the avitar is a prototype of kistlers new line up........

We hooked into those cats with lures, Andrew was trolling a magic shad and I was slowly reeling in a 4in chart grub.

New kistlers look pretty nice!
Does kistler have any accidental damage coverage with their warranty?
Simon, out of the two rods that I have had warrantied. They asked no questions.
Hey Andrew and Simon, was that you fishing the flooded timber in lorton on tuesday? If it was did you have and luck?
Lorton? Afraid not. Mudkart and I hitup Mercer on the yak and almost sank. We didn't fare too great. The wind was killer and we ended the day with only four hookups.
Were there Hobie's out in Lorton? :-?

Mercer not in lorton? ;D sorry.. But yea thats what I meant. I wasn't sure if that was you. Then I thought, who else would be? ;D
Wind was bad and we only stayed an hour or so.

Mercer is still considered fairfax I believe.
It was mudkart and I in my kayak and my buddy Jeremy, who you may remember from the Rapidan., in his own kayak
Were you the first set of guys there at around 10? I remembered seeing 5 or so other guys fishing. Didn't look like anyone was having any luck. Did you? Funny thing was, I was tellin Mike about you and how you were with me on my maiden voyage !

Due, in no small part, to my large a**.

That's being kind. Call it what it was, a skunk for myself, and I thought for Jeremy too. Andrew caught a keeper that he thought was a snag at first, until the snag started moving. :D
Yep, that was us. We were skunked as well.
I NEVER have luck there, but my buddy wanted to go.
Glad to hear you guys stayed dry for the most part. ;D

I know exactly how you feel. I never have luck there either. I've caught maybe 3 fish from there before tuesday. On tuesday, I got four so i consider that an excellent day for me.
I was using small stuff. a 3/16 black/chart spinnerbait and a 1/16 roadrunner (orange head/white grub trailer). I just fished everything really slow.
Anyone been fishing? My 85 year old dad will be here for Thanksgiving. I was hoping to maybe take him out on the boat on Saturday as long as the weather cooperates.

Haven't been out for over a week. But, if you want to catch fish, simply go to any body of water where I'm not fishing.. . I've been in a bad dry spell lately, the fish are repulsed by me.
I was having luck with the magic shad and spinnerbaits with a multi colored skirt (black, light blue, and grey-ish white, from top to bottom)
Been hitting the rockfish pretty well also recently

rockfish? as in stripers? Where are they biting?

Just this past Sat I was hitting them at Yorktown, 17 total all keeper size with two 23inchers mixed in. All casting from shore. However...I just got word that some idiot decided to majorly trespass on the dockmaster's dock and now police are giving tresspassing tickets to anyone fishing on the rocks near there (they would usually ignore fisherman)
sad =( my striper spot is now off limits from shore...I'm thinking about taking my yak out there though.
