Lake O 2024

fishing user avatartopwaterrob reply :

Anyone been to the Lake lately?  I think I'll give it a go later this week.  I see the water's holding about just under 16'.

fishing user avatargar-tracker reply :

Fishing big and sloppy.  Grass and hycnth everywhere. Their spraying like mad so lots of dieing vegetation.

But the fish still have to eat.

23 won the Christian Trail up north 60 some odd boats, we came in just out of the money with 15 I think 16 cashed a check.

fishing user avatarsalmicropterus reply :

21# won our club T out of Harney last Saturday, with second at 18. Some good fish. As mentioned, lots of veggies on Northshore, Bird and the Box, some alive and some sprayed. Water temp still in the low 80s. Green water on the shoal as you work down toward Cochran's. I don't think anybody in our group went much north of Horse

fishing user avatarpiscicidal reply :

I'm gonna give it a go this weekend.  Next Thursday also....Haven't been there since first week of July.  :(

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

Gonna be there myself, haven't been in couple weeks. Might fish Carmens tourny sat or slims sun.

fishing user avatartopwaterrob reply :

I heading to slims in the morning... Gonna try pelican bay for a few hours

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

Let us know how you did Rob

fishing user avatartopwaterrob reply :

Well I wish I could say I had done well.... Took a mosquito in the eye on the way out which scratched the crap out of my eye. Fishing wasn't much better. Fished around the west and south of kreamer only had a few hits.

Fred you fishing tx this weekend?

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

yeah might fish carmens tom. but most likely gonna fish slims sunday. Heard alot of bigger fish bitting up north just a far ride from slims, why I asked you to say how you did today

fishing user avatarpiscicidal reply :

I fished Okeechobee yesterday.  First time on the lake in over three months.  We got a little bit of a late start...fished from 7:30 - 1:00.  Nothing going at all on moving baits.  Finally caught a few flipping.  Only caught about eight fish, but size was good.  I got one good one (7.3lbs) and a couple 3s.   I lost another fish that was an absolute beast... :cry4: (hoping it was a mudfish).  Scraped together about a 16lb bag....if that beast I lost was a bass I was well in the 20s (Jared McMillian won the tourney yesterday @ 23lb w/ a 10lber).

I fished about 15 stretches and only two of them had any fish at all.  I feel pretty good about those two stretches...need to find a couple more (going out again this Thursday) to feel OK for my tourney next Sunday.

fishing user avatargar-tracker reply :

Did anyone hear of an accident up there, I heard a guy ran over another boat or something to that effect?

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

Tale of two way different days for me. Just practiced up off north shore sat for a few hours, there was a cracker boys tourney going on (bout 65 boats) which most seemed to be around there, I didn't catch anything, but i talked to Solis up there and he had I think around 27. For some reason I am always around the fish up there and can't seem to find a way to put them in the boat. We were flippin the same stretch to, oh well.

Fished slims yesterday and had big fish of the tourney with an 8 even. Only weighed 3 fish. I was throwing back 13 inchers early cause getting bites early was no problem, then about 9 a 25 mile an hour wind started and getting any bites was tough. I finally found a good stretch to punch about 215, got 5 bited in 20 min, but with time running out i was jumpy and missed em. But was happy with the big girl.

fishing user avatarsalmicropterus reply :

That was pretty much our day too. Ran up to shoal and northshore from Clewiston and caught them pretty good. Then that NE wind came up and blew up our areas. Made a not-so-fun run back down south and added a few punching mats

fishing user avatarbocabasser reply :

I fished slims tourny yesterday and had 15 pounds. We didn't get there until 8:30 because we were on the St. Johns River the day before. Found a head at 2:30 that I flipped up two four pounders. At 2:40 we had to leave to make weigh in. The hyacynth was so thick in the rim ditch, that you had to go through boyscout cut to get to pelican. The guy who won the slims event had 18 and change. He ran through that mass of hyacynth and banged up his lower unit coming back in. It always happens, when you win some cash something goes wrong with your boat.

Fred I think I saw you yesterday at slims with that beast. I didn't recognize you or otherwise I would have introduced myself. Did that big girl make it? One of her eyes looked pretty crappy. Glad you won some cash.

That hyacnth really started packing into the rim canal Friday.  When I  left early in the am there was a bit of it the rim.  As I was heading in a few hours later, the whole canal was covered.

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

Yeah she was good, and I was hard to see from what I am hearing. All I have gotten on Facebook is hell about my headwrap. Just trying to get a little cover from that sun. I should have uncovered but the fish was struggling a bit and I was just in a hurry to get her back in the water.

Wish we could have done the intro's, I'm kinda shy being new, most of the time at these things most of the guys know each other so I just go about my business, so if any of you see me and I dont say anything its not personal, but yeah sorry I missed ya. Anyone fishing that thing they have going on sunday?

Cant figure out the picture posting so the 8lber is my profile pic.

You and Mike were right behind us pulling out of that boat trail. We would have said hi but figured you needed to make the weigh-in. I had Noah King with me and we were just fun fishing out of Clewiston

I'm going to fish BLM's tourney Sunday out of Slims.  It's my first tourney in about four months and a little pumped to get back in the swing of things again.

Would love to meet up with any of you who happen to be there.

fishing user avataretommy28 reply :

If you are fishing the BLM tourney out of slims, consider also fishing the FGCU Fundraising tournament we have talked and will be allowing people to fish both. if you don't want to fish, at least get in on the 50/50 or Raffle.

That was during the BFL.

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

What is BLM's tourny?

fishing user avatarsalmicropterus reply :

BLM stands for Bottom Line Mike (Lendl). Mike runs the King of the Glades Tournament Trail which runs roughly from January thru May or June. He also organizes a  monthly club tournament, also called King of the Glades, which allows open competition. Google King of the Glades and you can can more info.

Thank you sir.

Didn't know the initials, yes I will be there Sunday, planned on fishing those next year.

fishing user avatartopwaterrob reply :

Also the date for the first KOTG tourney is out I think it's the 5th of January in clewiston.

fishing user avataretommy28 reply :

Just to clear up any confusion, The FGCU Fundraising tournament and King of the Glades will be going on at the same time and same place, this sunday at slims. instead of moving one we are allowing anglers to pay both entry fees and weigh the same fish for both tournaments.

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

What are the entry fee's for both?

fishing user avatarpiscicidal reply :

Leo and I won BLMs tourney today out of Belle Glade today with 20.63lbs.  Started out slow but we figured em out and by 11:00 were culling 3lbers steady.    Second was 17 something with a 7.  Fun day on the lake, but really friggin hot.  Will someone turn the AC on down here please?

fishing user avatarCaptain Shane Procell reply :

WTG Mike!

fishing user avatarsalmicropterus reply :

Great job, Mike

fishing user avatarpiscicidal reply :

Thanks guys.  Frankly, I wasn't expecting too much...both Leo and I had both only fished the lake about 3-4 times since July.  I've only fished one tourney since April.  He had one good spot though and I had one good one and we milked those two areas for all they were worth.  The guys I talked to were struggling to get quality bites, but we were getting em and putting them in the boat.

Not sure what happened with the FGCU tourney.  I didn't pay the entry to enter that one simultaneously...maybe I should have???

Who is going to the Ghosts and Goblins tourney this week?

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

I hit something going through all that crap coming outta slims sunday and only fished for a couple hours. I felt a little vibration when I was running to first spot then to second spot so i didnt take any chances and just ran it to Rolands to be safe. They have my Talon that broke the day before the bfl they are putting on anyway so I figured better safe than sorry.

Congrats on your win!  It was really tough sat and my first spot stunk sunday. I should be there Sunday, hopefully my partner makes it back from the FLW wildcard sat night other wise probably fishing solo.

fishing user avataretommy28 reply :

for the FGCU Tourny we had 29 entries and First place had 25.55(Big fish of 8.9 and another 8.4), 2nd had 25.25, 3rd had 23 and change and 2nd bigfish of 8.5. there were 11 bags of 19 pounds or more. More importantly we raised over 2200 bucks to help us be able to afford to fish this season.

fishing user avatartopwaterrob reply :

Did anyone fish ghosts as goblins and if so how did the lake fish?

fishing user avatarpiscicidal reply :

I fished Ghosts and Goblins with Jack (shallow thinker).  We caught our share of fish... but just couldn't get the big bites.  We weighed a little over 11lbs.  My spots down south were destroyed by three days of big North winds.  Had fun though...steady action, good weather, and great company.  Doesn't get much better than that.

The lake was fishing pretty tough....82 boats, only two weighed more than 20 lbs.  Some of the big names were out there also (Brandon, Jared, Val, Ruiz, Keyso).  Winner was Walls/Brown....they caught 24lbs with big fish of 7.8lb.   Nice haul for those guys...took home about $4000 in winnings.

That's a great turnout. Yea I hear the south end is soup.... Looks like that wind is here to stay through this week. At least you had fun...

fishing user avatarsunkboat on big o reply :

Fished it, had 5 babies, didn't weigh in. Went north where I was catching some fish sat afternoon but felt 10 degrees colder sunday morning and the wind was blowing pretty hard, was pretty tough! Congrats to whoever caught them.

fishing user avatartopwaterrob reply :

Lake O gave me another solid beating yesterday.......  Couldn't find anything in the Kreamer / Grassy area and the lake is down near a foot from my last trip there......  That lake hates me...

fishing user avatarpiscicidal reply :

Who is doing Giblets and Gravy tomorrow?

I went up Thursday, trying some new water.  Didn't find much.

I feel pretty good about the stuff we have, but we're gonna need a few of those big ones to bite, tomorrow.  If you see me out there give a holler.  We're boat #2.

fishing user avatarFishing Cowgirl reply :

We will be down in two weeks., mostly the north end, just fun fishing. We haven't been on the lake since June for the Police/Fire Olympics. We hope to see some of y'all down there. We have a 619 Phoenix, white/silver, with black power poles.

What days are you all going to on the water?

fishing user avatarFishing Cowgirl reply :

Friday and Saturday, the 6th and 7th. Getting up early Friday and driving down, then we will fish until we can check into the Pier Ii. Probably after we watch the weigh in for the Wild Card.

We've been doing pretty good at our local club, Weekend Warriors Bass Club, St. Cloud. Sitting 5th right, after a win on Kissimmee, and Big Bass( that I caught, which caused us to throw back a 7 lber, due to the 2 over 22" rule, and no size limit excemptions), a 3rd at Garcia, and a 3rd Saturday on East Lake Toho.  5 more tournaments to go, then our classic.

fishing user avatarpiscicidal reply :

Leo and I weighed 15lbs yesterday...finished somewhere around 15th.   Loaded the boat with 2.5-3lbers and just could not get that big bite.  We had a nice (untouched) bedding area that had some big females the week before, but they moved out.  We flipped all the staging areas around the area but those big ones were nowhere to be found.  Hard to stay on those fish, when you fish the lake 2 times a month...

Anyway, at least a few people were on the big ones....Donny Bass/Mikey Keyso won with 32lbs (two 9lbers!) McMillian/Locke 2nd with 27 and Jared/Brandon McMillian third with 22.
