What about Bear Creek? Close enough and you can rent boats...
how is the fishing there
What about Lake Anna?
i dunno ill be their
ive never had much luck at bear creek
Count me in. Non-boater here though.
well have some empty seats im sure and I don't think well do bear creek
I plan on going where ever gets the most votes bit will keep bear and anna in mind for a fall meet and greet or spring thanks guys
Depending on how far but I might be able to make it from Caroline county. I also might have a empty seat if my brother don't come. I just don't have a gas motor for some of the hp restricted ones or lake Anna. I'm trying to get my brother 6 up and running. It wont firest when I pull the cord?? Might try replacing the spark plugs and see if its that. My brother said it's been rebuilt and was running when was givin to him by his uncle. But far as lake Anna goes it might be a waist like Chesdin was for us. You couldn't even sit and fish the channel without boat flying by and rocking you to depth. There was no real calm times yesterday unless you went into one of the small coves that someone wasn't swimming in.

Anna is pretty rough on smaller boats unless you are up top somewhere in the shallows or like you said back in a cove.
If Anna is a thought it would have to be later in the season like October.
I would like to try Briery creek is that electric only?

I think they saied it was 10 hp but I might be wrong. My brother motor would be great if can get running but I'm not sure how strong 6 hp is for my 14 footer. I would think it would be better than running two trolling motors. Chesdin killed my batteries yesterday with out the roughness out there. I usually can get two to three days off one of my batts depending on condition of water.
it 10 hp but I useall electric out thereand am at no disadvantage do to stumps. being everywhere! its a blast out there love that place
I use my trolling motor all day at briery

I do too except for about 15-20 minutes of the whole day with the 9.9 outboard. I go there to fish, not ride around.

Wayne,
I think you live somewhere close to C-ville dont you?
How long does it take you to get there and what route do you take?
I was thinking about rt. 20 to rt. 15
Sounds like a lot of fun!! Can I join? Pleasssseeee?
But same as Deep, I am a non-boater too... but I can chip in for gas for sure!!

Yes, I live on the Northwest side of C'ville near Fashion Square Mall. I use Rt. 20 and Rt.15 to get there. It is 78 miles from my house to the Rt. 701 ramp. It takes less than 1 1/2 hours. I have to go all the way through the middle of C'ville to get on the South side, plus the low speed limit in Scottsville, and Dillwyn.
That's good hike Wayne! For some reason thought you were closer. I'm about 45min away from briery.

I've done it so often it seems like a short trip.

I live about an hour East of you, I would be taking 81 to 64 over Afton then 20 to 15 but to read what you have posted about Briery I think it would be worth the trip.
By the way that was a pretty nice pic you posted, I assume that was Briery with the tree stumps and the sunset.

The last picture I posted on a website of water and stumps was on Lake Fork at sunrise. Fork is a 27,000 acre Briery Creek Lake.
What happened to the voting poll? The 30th still good for me.

The poll looks like the 30th is good for all so far, as far as where it has not been decided yet but it looks like Briery has the most votes.
If it is ok with all can we go ahead with Briery on the 30th and are we going to do a meet and greet or just show up and fish when we get there, what time etc...

6 AM is fine with me as long as I can get a campsite somewhere I would have to leave around 3:30 to make it there from my house.
Just incase would 7:30 - 8:00 work? maybe have a lunch meet and greet and head back out?

6:00am on the 30th, good for me. Suggest we wait until 6:30 to see who shows and cast out at that time.

Are there motor restrictions at Briery and if so what are they?
On 7/13/2011 at 6:29 PM, SteveinVA said:Are there motor restrictions at Briery and if so what are they?
A maximum of 10 HP for gasoline motors can be used. In that area, Sandy River Res, and Nottoway Lake have the same restrictions.
I see lots of bassboats there using the trolling motor.

Briery Creek Lake Getaway has only RV sites with hookups, no restrooms, shower facilities, ect. Plus the three cabins. It is about 1 mile from the Rt.701 ramp. The other facilities are in the planning stage.

Been a couple of years since I have been to Diascund. I used to do pretty good down there. Probably gonna be tough anywhere with temps the way they are of late.

Yea me too. Most of mine were slot fish. The littles ones were in less than 10' depths and the larger ones were at the thermocline level.

I'm going to be filling John's seat. Reelcrazy I'm kind of dissaapointed your not going to make it out! I wanted to actually get out and fish with you haha!
up here ready to go catch some green fish
Got into a mess of dinks in the upper end with John. Was a good time we caught around 25 between the 2 of us all on shaky heads and one on a jig.
Me and partner caught only 3 out Briery, btw 2-3lbs, finally broke the ice. Went out Sandy caught 3 more, roughly the same size. We gotta do again sometime soon.
my super finesse technique was a killer . It was good seeing yall again catching fish and talking gear is aways fun. i went into coma when i got home i need to actually go to sleep the night before fishing.
Falling into a coma myself, as soon as my little monsters fall asleep! Always a great time talking everything bass fishing. @hookingem: you have send me the name of the store again. We got of the water later, and figured the shop was closed. May get out there this week.
Anybody got any pics to post? Kaotic1 how that jigging going for you now as long as your Carbonlite?
Sorry I couldn't make it. I had Fam in town from Louisiana. They left 7:30 this morning. Glad everyone had a great time.

Loving the Carbonlite setup! Caught a few on a Booyah jig and a shorten Swimming Senko watermelon red flake as a trailer. Shhhhhh! I like the combination in the summer.

I stayed with mono, just spooled some sulfix seige 14# and loving it. Just got another reel, a Shimano (should hear the excitement in my voice saying "shimano"), and highly considering spooling it with braid. After talking with s13john and hookingem out briery, I'm feeling a little more confident in trying braid on my second bc. Considering pairing it with a good rod for flipping/pitching.

Maybe check out the BPS store and ask around about the is rod. http://www.basspro.com/G-Loomis-GL%3Csup%3E2%3C/sup%3E-Series-Trigger-Rods/product/36951/-901577 It's on clearance for $159(maybe cheaper in store) originally $200
I don't know anything about G-loomis but I've read good things just maybe ask some guys here about if this is a good choice for flipping/pitching?
If want something now quick and cheap. I always wanted this combo but I went with the PQ combo instead. This is the RCX rod

Thanks, I looked at a few of these rods online. No time table to when I want to get it on the water. I'm pretty content with the two spinning rods and one BC I'm using now. I know definitely by next spring...lol. Thinking about putting the reel on my current Carbonlite 6'6 MH rod with braid and put my carbonlite reel on a Carbonlite 6'6 Med rod for casting. Who knows...
