If you had to choose one bait to be the only one you got to fish with for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I would go with a watermelon red flake super fluke.
Soft Swimbait (aka: paddletail minnow)
Roger
I would like to say square bill but it isn't versatile enough. So I will go with a green pumpkin swim jig and craw trailer.
I would have to go with a leopard frog tiny torpedo, although by no means an over effective bait, I couldn't live without the thrill of smallies hitting top water
Green Pumpkin Trick Worm
Green pumpkin with black tail slider worm
Skinny Dipper soft paddle tail swim bait (houdini)
Mike
3/8oz black jig with a part of a trick worm as a trailer
Size 2 Mepps Aglia inline spinner
As much as I hate to say it....5'' Watermelon w/ black flake GYCB Senko.
Green pumpkin baby brush hog
TNT.
Topwater frog, just cuz its the most fun. For catching fish though, I would probably bring a senko
Drop Shot. Any depth, any water temp, any water clarity.
1/2 oz White and Chart Spinnerbait with 1 small gold colorado blade and 1 larger silver willow leaf.
Seems to be the winning combo for me.
1st choice would be a jig plus trailer.
2nd choice would be a jerkbait
This. I think I could probably catch fish in 95% of situations with this if I had too.On 6/3/2015 at 9:30 AM, Rhino68W said:1/2 oz White and Chart Spinnerbait with 1 small gold colorado blade and 1 larger silver willow leaf.

Hmm...isn't drop-shot a rig?
A 10 in' culrly tail worm.
Its versitile- You can fishit on bottom, in the middle, on top, and you can een punch mats with a heavy enough wieght.
Its changeable- You can always down size a 10 in' worm, bet can't upsize a 6-7 in' worm
It's recycleable- You can get a single mold for that bait, and every time it gets worn out just melt it and remold it. You'll never have to by replacements, or very few!
Ish
Zoom watermelon red super fluke.
Crazy legs chigger craw
Jig & Trailer
Green pumpkin senko.
June Bug Zoom Trick worm.
The old school basser...
Cinnamon Pepper Neon Junebug Laminated Ringworm 7 1/2"
A 9mm to my right temple. Seriously, why torture myself. I'd be throwing a jig and wishing I had a Spook, or throwing a Spook and wishing I had a Senko. The 9mm and I never have to go through the torture.
Strike king 2.5
4" green pumpkin Chigger Craw...I think...can't I please have a few more? haha
Yum dinger rigged weightless and wacky with an octopus hook.
A bobber and a hook and some sort of creepy crawler on the hook.
Jig
Didn't we have 10 of these threads over the winter?
6" straight tail plastic worm. Hands down, no question about it.
I would find a new hobby.....but i will play along.
Moccasin blue super fluke.
I would go with 1/4 ounce swim jig with a baby paca craw trailer. You can fish it like a spinnerbait or a bottom contact lure and use it year round.
gunfish 95
1/4oz tungsten swim jig. Black with a flippin blue paca chunk. Ole faithful.
This thread reaffirms the fact that 'every' lure catches bass.
However, once you make a lure your favorite, it spends the most time on your line
and therefore catches the most bass.
This is great news, because Roland Martin's Helicopter Lure is now on sale

Roger
Swim Jig definitely....
Siebert Outdoors Swim Jig with a PowerTeam Lures trailer!
10 times? I think it was 11! Prior to this past year I would have said a jerkbait for sure. It's still my favorite thing to fish. But 1 forever would have to be a big paddle tail swimbait. If I can only have one I may as well go after the big ones.
I don't have to tell you, ya'll can probably guess my answer
3/8 ounce pb and j flipping jig with a pacacraw trailer

You joke, but I've seen the 'copter work...of all the colors, my buddy threw a red one a lot, and he did catch fish on them.
on topic: If you're gonna take all my baits just leave me the green pumpkin tubes
A white 1/6oz Rooster Tail.
I've caught:
Largemouth
Smallmouth
Spotted Bass
Ozark Bass
Crappie
Catfish
Rainbow Trout
Brown Trout
Cutthroat Trout
Bluegill
Redear Sunfish
Longear Sunfish
Yellow Bass
White Bass
...and probably other species as well, all on a white Rooster Tail.
It'd probably be a 4.5" Roboworm in Oxblood Light Red Flake. Drop Shotted.
I'd quit fishing and go back to building faster cars

Same here, because there's such a wide range of rigging options.
jig or a bladed jig

The joke is tongue-in-cheek, but the main thrust is not: 'Every' lure catches bass.
I have a friend named George in Pennsylvania who adores the Banjo Minnow, and he is far from alone.

Bandit 100 as you can almost always find shallow fish.
Arky jig with a twin tail trailer
When it comes to totall versatility only one thing comes to mind...1/2 ounce green pumpkin jig, shallow, deep, heavy cover, rocky dropoffs, there is not much a jig can't do. It's also a great tournament bait because it It WILL produce big fish. good luck.
For bass only a plastic worm. For all game fish a jig and grub .

That's a solid rig A-Jay. If you don't mind me asking, do you use a punch hub for the skirt? And what trailer is that?
Im a big plastics and spinnerbait advocate
but if God came down and restricted me to only 1 toy
it'd hafta be TOPWATER!

Thanks guys and Yes I do use the BOSS Punch Hub - makes the whole deal very versatile.
As for the bait - well that's a 5 inch Berkley Power Bait Beast - and unfortunately it's Very Discontinued.
You can still pick some up on Ebay occasionally.
The beauty of that trailer is this - if you choose to use a lighter weight , say 1/2 or less, because of the trailers width - the bait will perform a very attractive "Glide" on a slack or semi-slack line. During certain times, the subtle action appendages & the glide are killer. Of course the whole deal is extremely effective with a the craw of your choice as well.
There are a few current baits on the market that have a similar profile and do a decent job gliding; but having "ribs" on the bait's body running parallel to the hook seems to make a difference. I managed to stock pile a career supply over the years and so I'm pretty well set.

Jerkbait. Keeps me active as I hate using the little patience I have for finesse and slow presentations. Spinner bait a close second.
I wouldn't fish!
I agree, every time this thread comes up (once a month or so), I pretty much have the same answer: I'd find a less limiting hobby.
Do I have an endless supply? If so I want it to be the Roman Made Mother.
I can fish year around anywhere with Roboworms, either drop shot, t rigged, or wacky. It also happens to be a coincidence that Aaron Martens is my favorite elite pro and he seems to be able to do the exact same thing. Super versatile technique.
flippin jig or frog
1
Spro phat flies on my UL rig. I'm confident I can catch fish in any water, any time of year.
Jig or senko.... =)
LC 65 pointer...
1/4 ounce lead jighead with a white grub, caught more different fish on this than anything... nothing comes even close.they will catch anything and work almost all the time...
Zoom baby brush hog, either watermelon seed or big Texan
I'd go with an 1/4 oz Arkie jig and change trailer with the depth; from twin tailed hula grubs in the column and power worms on bottom structure.
1/4oz black bucktail hair jig. It'll catch anything, anywhere.
For bass: 5" Yamasenko

Ditto except I would go with the Bullfrog color.
Booyah Pad Crasher. I live for that top water strike.
Green Pumpkin magic Ultravibe Speedcraw. It is my favorite bait to c-rig, and makes a great texas rig too plus so many other things
Sexy shad colored spinnerbait. I can fish slow or fast deep or shallow with it.
Has to be a topwater...buzzbait most versatile
6" Zoom Lizard in Green Pumpkin w/ chartreuse tail (Spike-it)
Bullet/ 3.0 Gama EWG
It would have to be a swimbait. Probably a basstrix. Maybe a big hammer and I could use or make some weedless heads. If it was a hardbait and I could make it pretty weedless or the most part then it's a s-song
i'd take a 8'' Hudd ROF 16 in rainbow trout or a Canyon Plastics 4.5'' frog in green pumkin swirl ...

Your really making it hard on your self with the ROF 16. You have to cut it open and take out some lead and its kinda a pita to do sometimes. It does help to have that picture that shows where all the lead is in the different ROF's. I would go with a 5 and nail weight it
White/Chart double willow gold/silver blade 3/8 oz War Eagle spinnerbait, no doubt.
Storm Wildeye Swim Shad 3", or a classic 5" Green pumpkin worm. Don't know if I could make that decision without flipping a coin.

i don't fish them in the water column , i fish them on the bottom , VERRRRY SLOOOOWLY !!! , the extra weight keeps them down where i want the bait on a long cast without it nosing up on me .
Green pumpkin Senko
easy for me - 1/4oz arkie jig head with a yamamoto double tail hula grub.
I would not quit the hobby (but would sell about a dozen rods).

I think everyone crawl the bottom with them. I dot have deeps Cali lakes that I fish and throw hudds in places that might only be 5' deep or even less at time. A lot f time a ROF 12 or something will dig to much. Even the 5's don't always want to stay down enough but I can easily add weight. Just putting a tear drop sinker on the bottom ring works great and still keep the bait in balance so it falls perfectly level.
I'm going to say a jig n pig there is no off season it works all year. Colors may vary from molting, to mating to your average area color.

i fish them off deep drops and depths of 20-35 feet , so even after a 60 yard cast , in deep water your still not too horizontal with the bait , causing the bait not to dig . i fish a variety of ROF soft trout baits , but have the best fish hit when fishing deep and super slow . if i were to fish 5-8 ft. of water i'd throw the Savage Gear Shallow runner3D trout in trout and hitch patterns , those baits work !!
Jig and Pig....black on black in black
That's easy:

Well there isn't tons of deep water where I live. There are some pockets at places that can get 20-30 feet. It's not a huge area to cover though and we don't even really have super giant lakes like other places. There is a lot of 30' deep out on Erie but I don't out to the middle of the lake and throw hudds It's actually the shallowest of the Great Lakes as it is.

yeah then your best to stick with ROF 5 and 12 , and if your in really shallow water(2-5 ft.) try that Savage Gear shallow runner or a ROF 0 hudd ...
7" straight tail worm... Brand unimportant
Jig
Zoom lizard i can mod this bait so many ways ..take off the legs u have a worm cut in half with just the tail u have a grub take off 2 legs make it purple.im good
Green pumpkin 2" tube
