fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

Ok folks, the next RoadTrip will be May 1-6, 2013, on Lake Pickwick! Mark it on your calendar now! Everyone is invited!

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

To elaborate on Glenn's post, the dates are Wed. May 1 through Mon. May 6. Instead of taking a week of vacation to attend the trip, it's now just a long week-end.

I hope you can deal with the pressure of being the "go to guy" to put us all on fish :) I expect zip-pow like map review sessions on a nightly basis.

Hey it is RW, ick, Mr.mallard, tn basstracker as well as several others home lake as well. My secrets will only be shared with those who bring free beer, naked women and ........ I sure hope my wife doesn't read this. :)

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

YES!!!!! If I still have a pulse, I'm in.

I won't make the mistake of stopping in Bristol, TN like I did two years ago. What I expected to be a four or five hour trip to Pickwick turned out to be a nine hour drive. I stopped around four in the afternoon, got my TN license at a Walmart, had a nice dinner, and kicked back so I could get an early, 1:00 a.m. start to Pickwick. I put the destination in the nav system and found out I still had six hundred miles to drive. Got there at ten in the morning.

fishing user avatarLund Explorer reply :

Yup, I smell a real adventure coming up.

I can't wait to see the particulars. Pickwick State Park perhaps?

How about the Mid-week Mingle & Munch?

No one gets left out. I'll be getting a bigger cabin than the one we had last time at Pickwick. Sort of ran out of room. Won't happen next time.

What's the accommodations like on this pond, I see the Hampton Inn, and something at a State park near the dam but not much else.

Didn't know there was particular days for Soirée's, I'll partake any day :)

There are cabins, and camping areas. There is also a lodge(motel) and two wide ramps on the site. If I recall the cabins had two bedrooms and two beds in each room. There is a sitting area with a television, and a dining area with a fridge and cooking stove.

One thing I liked. The lodge has a buffet for dinner. I think it starts serving at 4:00 pm. You can tie up at the dock, have dinner and be able to keep an eye on your vessel. Back on the water after dinner if so inclined. There is also a golf course at the park.

Like Guntersville and KY Lake there are plenty of ramps to fish the different areas. The ramps at the park will allow you to fish the dam area, and many other productive fishing areas.

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

You guys are too funny!

Yes, it will be at the state park again. More details to follow, so don't make your reservations just yet. Just know we've already reserved rooms and cabins, so not to worry. You're safe.

BTW, although Keri and I haven't fished Pickwick before, we do a considerable amount of smallmouth fishing in our area, so we'll be happy to help out anyone who's new to smallie fishing!

fishing user avatarScorcher214 reply :

Man, im ready for this roadtrip now!

And although I live on St Clair, smallie fishing was something I never really did. And now that I've lost access to a boat. looks like my chance at getting on some good smallies will wait till pickwick.

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

Traveler, Pickwick Landing State Park has ten cabins (we have blocked all of them,) each with two bedrooms, having two double beds apiece. The cabins weren't designed for boat hook-ups or boat parking, but they worked out fine for us a couple of years ago. Because we had multiple adjoining cabins the members simply worked with each other to get our boats parked as close to a cabin as possible. Parking and hook-ups never became an issue. Just make sure you bring plenty of extension cord. A 100' reel will suffice. On the other hand, the lodge has plenty of hook-ups, just as the Hampton did at G'ville.

fishing user avatarjeremyt reply :

I'm looking forward to this trip. I have never caught a smallie and hopefully I can on this trip. If anyone between the coast of nc and pickwick wants to go I can give you a ride.

Try 1200 miles plus or minus from southeastern MA. I've brought my boat to the last three road trips, Pickwick, KY Lake, and Guntersville. The driving distance to each was about the same. Only fifteen miles separated the closest from the furthest.

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

Ok Guys. Starting my scouting EARLY for the 2013 road trip, but we got on some fish today, just not the bigguns we were looking for. Started off early in the main lake fishing humps in 20-25fow. Landed 9 bass(8LM, 1SM) fishing 3/4oz jigs and crigged lizards. Then later in the day we found some more on main lake points and secondary points in coves. Caught 11 after noon(10LM,1SM). The later fish were caught in 10-14fow and were the bigger of the bunch. Most of the afternoon fish were caught on shakey heads, with a couple more on jigs. 20 bass and 1 bream for the day with the best 5 going somewhere between 15-16. Lots of skiers, waverunners and party barges made staying on spot tough and really messed with the fishing. That is the real reason we left the main lake in the afternoon, but it paid off. here is a little teaser to hold you over........

DSCF0058.jpg

BTW, I know you guys wanna know about the smallies, but they were 1lb and 1.5lb, nothing much to talk about, other than they fought harder than all of the LM!!!!

Jeff

fishing user avatarScorcher214 reply :

Indeed. Time to make some more jigs so Jeff can show me how to use em next year!

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

Ah, the memories of Pickwick, circa 2010.

100_1945.jpg

This six pound smallmouth was followed by a five pound spot and a 4.5 pound smallmouth on successive casts. This was on Tuesday after the weekend the monsoon shut down Nashville and parts of I-40. Fifteen plus pounds of bass in the livewell in a 15 - 20 minute span. All told, I pulled over thirty fish from that one spot, after hauling in twenty plus fish at a point a half mile to the north.

fishing user avatarScorcher214 reply :

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

Eric, I am sure Tom is far to old to remember things like that, but the bridge in the backgroud, looks to me like the bridge than runs over the Dam and locks. Maybe that will strike a chord and help Tom remember!

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Well, this has been a remarkable year. More double digit bass have been caught since last October

than the combined total in the history of the lake! Pickwick has never been considered a "big bass"

lake. On the otherhand, if we're talkin' 'bout smalljaws, this is a "HUGE BASS" river system.

In addition to some size, the lake produces big numbers on occasion. My best day ever was with

WMD on the 2010 RoadTrip: 78 one day! The following day we didn't have quite the numbers, but

both of us scored numerous 5lb+ fish. BTW, we weren't even in contention with Big O and the soldiers:

144 smallmouth during the worst storm you can imagine and two PBs!

Nice fish Tom, what were you using at the time... This is a test to see if that ole grey matter is still functioning. And what bridge is that in the background, I'd like to try that spot come May.

It amounted to a shaky head rig.

I had a Jackall Wacky Jig Head, 3/32 ounce, with a four inch Strike King Elaztech Finesse Worm, coppertruese color. I did not rig it weedless since the hook has a wire weed guard. I entered the hook at the center of the head, and exited the hook so the head of the worm was snug against the tunsten weight. A drop of Locktite Super Glue to hold the worm in place. That's it.

I had switched to the Buckeye Flick It hook in the same weights. They are much cheaper, and with the football head, don't hang up as often when fishing in rocky bottom. But, alas, Massachusetts has banned the use of lead in fresh water. So for around here it's going to be the Jackall or the Inichi wacky jig heads. They have tungsten heads. They also are about seven bucks for a three pack.

You are correct, and I am facing the lodge at Pickwick State Park. It's a good deal. If you want to grab dinner, the buffet at the lodge starts serving at four. Tie up to their dock and have dinner at a window where you can keep an eye on your boat and gear. Wolf down some chow and back to the river for more fishing. Can't get any better than that.

Broke bass, it is fun! On this last trip, if memory serves, we had six members who had never attended the Road Trip before. I don't think you will hear any complaints from them, and certainty none from our regulars. I attended the Second Annual trip as a newbie to the forums and as a newbie bass fisherman. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and have never missed another one. The ONE great thing about the Road Trip is that it is not a tournament. It's just a bunch of guys and gals who want to go fishing and meet new friends - and maybe drink a few suds and tell a few lies.

Kyle, a Tennessee license will be fine. You can come without a boat, but if you have one that will handle a good-sized lake, it would be helpful. I would be coming from Kearney, MO. It is north of Kansas City about 20 miles or so. I will go update my profile to show that.

Thanks again.

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

TN 10 day fishing-without trout(which are not in Pickwick) is $25.50.

MS only has a 3 day, so a yearly license would be required. It would cost $54.29

AL has an annual license for $46.40

The reason I tell you all of the prices is that all 3 are able to be purchased and fish Pickwick lake, but all 3 also have different boundaries. I will try to explain, but am not 100% on the boundaries. Here is what I know to the best of my ability.

I believe the reciprocal agreement works like this:

TN license: You can fish from the KY Lake Dam to the north bank at the mouth of Bear Creek.

MS license: You can fish the Pickwick Dam to the south bank of bear creek.

With TN or AL License, you cannot fish past the bridge in the back of yellow creek (up the Tenn-Tom). (hwy 25 bridge)

With the AL license, you can fish Pickwick Dam to Wilson Dam.

That's how I remember it anyway. Basically, get an AL license and you are covered for almost the entire lake(except if you want to get in the river for SM like what RW loves to do. THIS REQUIRES A TN LICENSE)

If you run the Tombigbee Waterway to Bay Springs, then you need a Miss license. Good spotted bass fishing, and clear water.

Obviously if you go above the Wilson Dam into Wilson lake, or lock down into Wheeler, you will need only Alabama.

Jeff

A TN license will allow one to launch from "home" and fish about nineteen miles of the main lake, plus all of its tributaries. That's a LOT of territory to cover in one week. And yes, there are plenty of smallies to be had.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Well, the TN license is the most economical, but AL is much broader.

fishing user avatarzip pow reply :

Sounds like its going to be an awesome trip I'll have an Al license if Jeff or RW get me below the dam I'll be glad to purchase the Tn guess well have to see how the trip pans out looking forward to seeing everyone again

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

We'll see how things are going, but in the spring there is no particular advantage below the dam unless you are targeting stripers.

The smallmouth "action" you hear so much about is below Wilson, not Pickwick. If that's hot, we might make a day trip up there

with anyone that's interested.

So, you think you can foil my plans, do you?

BWAAAAHAAAAHAAAA!!!

fishing user avatarriskkid 2 reply :

Hope Pickwick will be more productive in May than it was yesterday (I'm sure it will be). We fished various spots from Bear Creek down to the dam. Caught several fish (including a few smallies) but no size to them. The success we had was on docks and using topwater early around weeds. Some fish are beginning to school around the mouths of pockets and creeks (we caught a few small ones here). We spent way too much time searching ledges, didn't find much of anything. I am thinking this would have been better up lake where it seems to be shallower but without an Alabama license it was not an option. A friend fished up lake between Waterloo and the Bridge and fared much better just beating the banks.

For those who are in the process of deciding whether or not to come, don't waste any time, just decide to make the trip!! It was my first time to fish it and although we had limited success it is evident it is a great fishery. Water is much clearer than I anticipated but that makes sense due to the large smallmouth population, deeper water etc.. It is indeed clearer than KY Lake or Guntersville and is or at least seems deeper in general even though it is part of the same Tennessee River chain. It's a beautiful lake with some homes that definetly made me envious.

Ya'll just need to make plans to attend!!!

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

The powers that be have provided plenty of time for planning to make it. I've fished the last three road trips to Pickwick, Kentucky/Barclay, and Guntersville. Pickwick was definitely my favorite, though anywhere the gang goes is fine by me. The opportunity to meet members and to establish bonds among them is far and away the most important part of the trip.

Novice to seasoned pro, it's a great time for all, and a great learning experience. Nothing like comparing notes and sharing knowlege on the water. If you enjoy the forum, you'll love the road trip.

fishing user avatarFishinDaddy reply :

Put Nicole and I on the list. We will be there this year.

fishing user avatarScorcher214 reply :

The only thing that could stop me from making this trip is if I get an apprenticeship with the boilermakers between now and the trip. Otherwise, there's no way I could miss it. I've already told my boss about it Letting him know I will be taking those days off!

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

Just a reminder guys, the cut-off date for reservations is March 1. After that date all cabins and hotel rooms will be released to the general public. There are only ten cabins and we have blocked them all. They each have four double beds, and will sleep four heterosexual adults comfortably. At $104 plus tax Sun. thru Thurs. and $120 plus tax on Fri./Sat. they are a steal. With four guys splitting the cost, you couldn't get that rate at a Motel 6.

fishing user avatarJ-B reply :

Hey all. Sorry that I have been a stranger for a while. I have been unemployed. Still trying to find a good job. If I finally get one I plan on being there.

fishing user avatarSiebert Outdoors reply :

We are in.

Only stipulation is May 4th is the bosses birthday. So we will have to celebrate!

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

In response to a question asked of me via PM, the CABINS rent for $104/$120 a day. The rate is not a "per person" rate. The more people you can stack in the cabin, the cheaper it gets for each.

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

You can have five persons with each having their own bed, provided someone sleeps on the couch. Even more if you bring a mattress for the floor, or cots. Just keep in mind there is only one bathroom, so there might be a waiting line for the shower or the porcelain throne from time to time.

fishing user avatarlynyrdsky1 reply :

IM GOING FiNALLY!!!!! Got a boat and I'll be out of school and it's only 2 hours from me count me in.

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

Just another little teaser from Pickwick and hopefully some fuel for the ones still on the fence.

Today we caught 30 bass. They were keyed in on shad. Find the bait balls working their ways into the backs of the coves and find the fish. Catch a couple then find the next bait ball. Shad imitators were key. Lots of fun. Only 3 were smallies though.

The day before there was good water generating through the dam and my fishing partner drifted below the dam. Said the only problem was lack of good sized bait, but they managed around 20 bass, with ALL BEING SPOTS OR SMALLIES.

Couple good days on Pickwick and a couple pics for eye candy.....

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

The only fly in the ointment is that on the last trip we fished Pickwick on a moon tide, following the monsoon that shut down Nashville. It's gonna be a different body of water unless rain of Biblical proportions preceeds our arrival. There was no fishing the docks on that road trip. The docks that were fixed were anywhere from a foot to five or six feet underwater.

Still the fishing was amazing, particularly when the conditions are taken into consideration. How often does a smallmouth take the largest fish award. Speaking of that, has anyone heard from Uncle Leo, or Old Cranky lately?

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

Tom, PM sent.

Chips, it's up to you. If you want to fish with your wife, that's great. If you want to split up in order to meet and fish with more people, that's great also. One rule we insist on is that there are few rules.

Mike, Nicole and I are coming. Made the cabin reservations today. Soon as I can get the scanner thing figured out I will get you our forms.

fishing user avatarLong Mike reply :

The following is a list of questions PM'd to me by Brian Needham. I thought it would be appropriate to share this info with potential Road Trip attendees. My responses are in blue.

Brian, to begin with, I was in your shoes six years ago when I made my first BR Road Trip. I was a newbie to bass fishing, and to BR, and didn't yet own a boat. Like you, I had never met any of folks that were attending. To make a long story short, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and have never missed another Road Trip.

Now to answer your questions.

How does fishing work during the trip? Are we all on our own, do members pair up? Share patterns? Pickwick is pretty big, lol.

do we all launch at the same time in the morning as a group or everyone dop their own thing?

To begin with, this is not a tournament. It's just a bunch of folks who enjoy the fishing and camaraderie. We will probably have a "biggest bass" contest, but there is no entry fee and is pretty much on the honor system. Everyone does their own thing when fishing. They launch when they want and where they want. As for pairings, every evening I do my best to pair everyone up for the next day. NO ONE is left standing on the bank.

how does lodging work, do we tell you if we require a room? Do we get paired up for rooms with other members?

It is the responsibility of each individual to arrange their own accommodations. We have blocked all the cabins and a number of rooms at the lodge for BR members, but reservations must be made by you. Stay active on the Road Trip forum and post from time to time that you are looking for a roommate. It always works out.

what are the nightly activities, as I have seen videos of speakers in the past. When does that happen?

Almost every evening one or more of us will cook for the group. RW and I usually cook hamburgers. Alpster usually does some sort of cajun dish. We pass the hat and ask for a $5.00 contribution from each member to help defray our costs. On one of the evenings (yet to be determined) we will have our "banquet." This is when we have our speaker(s.) Dinner is on you.

where, when and for what do we send money for?

You don't send money for anything.

fishing user avatarBrian Needham reply :

thanks Long Mike!

I almost posted the questions here, as I figured other attendees might have the same questions.

I might just make a point to come this year, being so close and all. I always wanted to fish pickwick, just never drove the 2 hours.....

which is good, been putting off buying spare tire for the trailer, lol.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Although smallmouth are caught randomly throughout the river system, there

are certain areas that tend to be better for targeting smallmouth. We will talk

about it openly at Pickwick, but not here on the open forum. I share my spots

with friends and BR members, but they're still somewhat private.

More generally, the main target on the lake will be largemouth. More double

digit bass have been caught this year that in all other years combined. A new

State Record (14-8) was claimed, but not documented. Here is another fish that

did not qualify: http://www.chattanoogan.com/2009/10/22/161452/New-Tennessee-State-Record-Bass-caught.aspx

Spring lures and techniques are pretty generic. Actually, almost everything works

around here that time of year. Two years ago on the RoadTrip I had a 78 fish day

throwing mostly a Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad. My partner did extremely

well with a KVD Red Eye Shad. Big O and our two soldiers caught 144 smallmouth

during the deluge on day 1, including two PBs! Some of those fish were caught on

Red Eye Shad, but the vast majority on Rage Tail Baby Craws.

If you are interested in hiring a guide, do it now. Roger Stegall is VERY well regarded,

but in high demand, especially in May. I will post a list of some other lake guides here

shortly. If you are interested in fishing for stripers on the river, Speedy Madewell is The

Man.

If you don't make it, I'll have to stop by and box your ears. I go right through Harrisonburg on I-81. If all goes according to plan, I'll be sailing through between seven and nine on Friday morning. As you travel 81 South, when you get to mile marker 256 or 255 I can't remember, you will travel through an underpass, look to your left and you will see a big brick home first, to the right of that house will be a light yellow house, that will be me, I will already be at work but at least when you see the house you know that I will be thinking about you guys, If I am not already there to meet ya in Tenn.

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

Ok guys, here it is.....the long awaited 2012 RoadTrip video!!

Yes, I know it's way late, but had a lot of technical issues with it. First my computer wouldn't play some of the submitted videos, then the video editing software I use wouldn't export the final edited video...then it froze up whenever I opened the project.

So I did a lot of repair work on my computer, even uninstalling and reinstalling the editing software.....to no avail. Finally I broke down and upgraded the editing software, and it worked - but I still had to re-edit the video all over again!

Finally, it's finished! Apologies for the delay.

Enjoy!

OK, I'm confirmed, got the time off, got the room reserved with Kent, and would like to change the Saturday Night Wine & Cheese Soiree to Thursday evening. I will be arriving Thursday afternoon, and will not be fishing that day. So, I will have more than enough time to get prepped for the event, if we can schedule it for Thursday.

As we get closer, would all who plan to attend my little shin-dig please PM me, so I can make sure I have enough chow for everybody.

Those of you who were at the last one know what to expect. I plan to layout the same spread. It seemed to be well received. If you have any suggestions, or requests, throw "em at me. This ain't written in stone.

A sandwich bar; roast beef, ham, sliced cheese, bread variety, condiments; some side salads, fruit platter, veg platter, and of course wine and cheese.

I'll have a case of wine for the Soiree, and beer and soft drinks, enough to last me the week and maybe a little to share; what ever will fit in the cooler.

Want something besides wine? BYOB.

Great fish though! I'm pretty sure I can make it. My finals for school are not till the 8th. This will be a great way to start off my season this year.

Yea RW, that was the best day of fishing I have ever had... I will never forget it.

Dateline: Saturday February 23, 2013

I am trying to get confirmation and pics, but this is the story I heard this morning:

Saturday in a small tournament the winning bag came in at 37+ lbs, including an
11.8. Every fish was caught in 20'-25' water on The Rig, white grubs on the outside

arms, chartreuse in the middle.

fishing user avatarBrian Needham reply :

WOW THAT IS NUTS RW!!!!

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Alright, I talked to a friend that fished the tournament. He told me a picture was posted on Facebook,  Hammer Rods.

Not only is the fish legit, the dude caught it the day before pre-fishing! Same fish, same bait, same location two days

in a row.

My friend also said the total winning weight was 29 lbs, the 39 I reported was a week earlier.

For those of you sitting on the fence, especially you local guys, get your plans made.

Double digits are being caught every week,  The fishing will be even better the first week

May. Pickwick is on fire!

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

Local angler boats a 11.14 and then a 11.83 the next day on Pickwick

William Davis of the Shoals Area was doing what a lot of tournament bass anglers do before a tournament- checking out places to fish and looking for honey holes on Pickwick Lake with
an Alabama Rig®. Davis was fishing several miles downriver from Florence, AL, McFarland Park. He was working a ledge in the Waterloo, AL area fishing eight feet of water when Davis’ Hammer rod bowed under a tremendous strike on his Alabama Rig.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Well, at least in theory, the fishing should be MUCH BETTER in May than late

February. However, lots of DDs have been caught this winter and the "numbers"

are showing up, too. Sunday I caught 32 on Smithwick Rogues and Red Eye Shad.

We fished from 8:00 to 4:00, but wasted a couple of hours hunting stripes. Saturday

my partners caught 19 between them, all on The Rig. For some reason we couldn''t

find them Sunday. BTW, although their fish were only 15-25 lbs, they have been

catching plenty of 30 lbs+.

I don't fish The Rig shallow, so I caught -0- on it Sunday. I only used it targeting stripes

There was a big pro tournament the last time we fished Pickwick, and there was no problem.  No one holds "reservations" on any part of the water for fishing.  It's like any other day on the water, first come, first served on the fishing grounds.  I do recommend giving the pros who are fishing an area a wide berth out of courtesy.  Having said that, if I'm catching fish in an area and a pro comes along, I ain't budging an inch.

Make that 55 days until I'm on the water at Pickwick.  If I'm going to make a 2400 mile plus, round trip, towing a boat, I'm going to fish as many days as possible.  The round trip travel is a fixed expense whether I fish five days or ten days.  Better to "amortize" that cost of 800 dollars for fuel over ten days rather than over five days.

Good Luck guys. Wish I could make it but I will be in San Francisco/Reno the first weekend and Biloxi, MS the 2nd weekend. I fished a club tourney this past weekend on Sunday, March 10th. We ended up winning it with 21.86 lbs and had big fish at 6.38 lbs. The Pickwick Couples Trail was putting in at the same ramp we were and I think they had 20-25 boats or so and it took 21 lbs to win their tourney. We caught our entire limit in Yellow Creek, as did most every other boat trying to escape the 25-30 mph winds we had on Sunday. We caught our fish on Megabass 110 jerkbaits, A-rigs, Shakey Heads in 12-20 FOW on points and transition banks.

Any particulars on the rigs?  Which brand/style, and what baits?

My experience using umbrella rigs for stripers years ago leads me to think I wouldn't like using them for sport fishing.  I've caught as many as seven stripers on an umbrella rig.  They were great for meat fishing which is what we were doing,  My recollection is that when you hooked up multiple fish, they fought each other more than the fisherman.  It was like dragging in a throbbing tire.

Anyway, I do want to be prepared.  I've got a couple of combos that will easily handle them.

X2; I’m sorry; I can’t begin to imagine an umbrella rig full of Bass on bass fishing equipment.  I don’t believe the bass rods and reels can take it for long.

Trolling for Blues & Rock (Stripers) on the Bay was work when we has a loaded rig, and we were using heavy duty trolling rods with rollers, and heavy reels with wire line.  Besides, I can’t see any sport in dragging in the meat on a rig, I’d rather go the other way with light equipment & tackle.

IMHO

EDIT:

But I have a question about using the rig.  Let’s say you have four fish in the live well; then you hook three more at one time on the rig; and to get them unhooked you have to bring them on board (inside the gunnels), so your now in position of seven fish.  Are you legal?

If fishing the A-Rig in Tennessee you are only allowed 3 hooks. A treble is considered one hook. This is a bit of a change in the law effective 3-1-13

Also, anybody that still is looking for roommate, HIT ME UP. I'll sleep on the floor...and I don't snore at all!

As long as you have culled to 5 in your livewell before your next cast you are legal.

Hey folks, one of the disadvantages of being a boater is that I don't have the opportunity of fishing with any of the other boaters who are more experienced than me.  In that regard, I want to cede the operation of my boat for several days to any of you co-anglers who have experience driving a 150hp boat, in order to fish with some of the more notable boaters on the trip.  Glenn and Keri have it for one day.  Any other takers?

UH, by the way, I am now looking for a seat as a co-angler.

Hey Mike,

How come In all these years, and all these trips, I haven't gotten to fish with you? I'm kind of feeling like a bald headed stepchild.

Scorcher, I am thinking of camping either at the park, or below the dam at the Botel. I am going to check and see if they let you use a tent, and whether or not I can hook up battery cahrgers. I will let you know.

Explain.

Here are my thoughts.

Tickets for spectators are $5 ea.  All money goes to Tackle the Storm.

Whoever wants to fish out of Mikes boat for the day climbs in it.  We pull it out to 10fow and anchor it.  With life jackets on and helmets we give each contender a floaty pool noodle.  Hit a horn. The last two in the boat  gets to fish out of the boat.

I'll pay 5 bucks to watch that.
