What's the fattest bass you've ever caught? Mine was this 5 lber out of trinity lake on a 5xd. Girth measured 15 inches. Almost as wide as she was long:D What's yours? What did you catch it on?
Did not measure her but I think the length & girth were very similar. Caught on a NorthStar hidden head spinner bait.

What A BBB... Er, WAIT A MINUTE! That's the same fish you have in your avatar... You just painted it a different color.
Edit: This quote doesn't apply anymore. Dwight had to change his avatar pic, and ruin it for everybody.

Dwight and Will, those are great looking fish. Congrats
Wow that thing's huge! That's gotta be one of the fattest bass I've ever seen. Really nice looking fish guys.On 12/4/2014 at 7:51 AM, Dwight Hottle said:Did not measure her but I think the length & girth were very similar. Caught on a NorthStar hidden head spinner bait.

There is a photo on this site somewhere of my 19.3 that was 28 1/2" long by 28" girth, almost 100% girth to length.

I was reading an article about the top 25 heaviest bass ever caught and didn't see you In There, Just curious but did you ever try to get your bass recognized or did you just keep it on the down low? I know people like butch brown have caught 19lb bass too haven't they? I didn't see him there ethier...
Not the best to-scale photo

This being in its mouth probably added some ounces:
The validation process isn't easy if you release the bass quickly. Butch caught his 19.3 on video, the scale weight wasn't witnessed before releasing the bass and Butch may not have applied for any listing. On 12/4/2014 at 10:01 AM, Catch and Grease said:I was reading an article about the top 25 heaviest bass ever caught and didn't see you In There, Just curious but did you ever try to get your bass recognized or did you just keep it on the down low? I had a witness of the catch, the bass weighed on a certified scale, then released the bass. I didn't report the catch and no news paper article. 10 years later I tried to get the catch listed, no listing to date!
Tom
I wonder how many other 19lb+ bass have been caught and never been put in the spotlight lol...
I caught this one this past spring. 19 inches long, I did not weigh it or measure the girth.
Pretty sure this is my fattest bass.
She was well over 6 pounds, but I
can't find the note with her data...
Wasn't my PB.
My friend Edwin has caught at least 3 Maryland state record fish since I've known him. 11-5 LMB, 8-7 SMB and a 4lb yellow perch. Dude could care less about recognition for these catches. On 12/4/2014 at 10:29 AM, Catch and Grease said:I wonder how many other 19lb+ bass have been caught and never been put in the spotlight lol...
I have to admit though, when I caught the snakehead in my avatar I thought I had the one. It weighed in at a weak 18lb on my 30lb. Boga Grip (world record northern snakehead is 17-12.) I went straight home to weigh it on my good scale, it only went 17-4 Needless to say, I was ready to get it certified by the IGFA. When I saw the weight my heart sank, and I then filleted the fish for the BBQ. In hind sight I could've possilby set a line class record as the fish was caught on 6lb test, but it was tasty.

Wow..... just...... WOW!!!!!! What a beast!!!! Bet that was a fun battle.
I don't have anything that really comes close to some of the photos already posted in this thread but here are my submissions:
Smallest "fat" bass I've caught. Felt like a fish twice his size:
Second best "fat" bass I've caught:
And my PB is probably my fattest bass yet. I would guess between 5-6 pounds, only got a length measurement of 21 inches:
Cant remember who sent me this picture, but this thing is a fat beast,
This video: http://youtu.be/93wSDaWs83I is pretty cool. Titled "Freakishly Fat Fish," the guy from HatCamBass catches a bass that is 15 inches long, and 3 1/2 pounds.
My PB. I didn't get any measurements, but she went 6-5 and i doubt she measured much over 20"".
My bass here are afflicted with the short/fat genes. It makes for some great, yet deceiving pics.
the PB is my fattest to date for sure. caught some longer ones than this one, but none fatter. it was 20" long and right at 5.5lbs.

I see what you did, now did you lube up those softballs or did you insert them dry
I guess for the one year I've been bass fishing so far, it would be this one.

Looks like you guys passed around the same fish.
There's a huge population of 5 pounders there. By mid day, we were dink dropping them, lol. They all look the same.

I'd still love to hit that place up some day. Too much for me though.
They eat swimbaits, and they aren't even picky about which ones, lol.
LOL, if they're eating that one I'd have to agree with you.

That a strip pit fish?
My PB was 21 inches long with a 19 inch girth. Caught on a Rapala X-rap. I really need to get a picture of that mount.
The fattest one I have ever seen was the one caught by Edwin Evers on the first day at either Dardenelle or Chickamunga. That bass had the same kind of beer belly you see on some guys, huge & perfectly symmetrical.
This one was my first "big" fish. Went 4 pounds and 12 ounces. It was really short though!

Forget the mount. Just broke my PB today with this 23'' long 20'' girth beast
Here's a recent Fatty ~
She was a small tilapia over 10lbs ~
Didn't measure the girth but really should have.

Ha! Sure looks like it on a couple of them doesn't it? A few of them were actually big bluegill or shad, the big smallie towards the bottom had a crappie in it's throat that I still don't understand how it got it in it's mouth it was so big.
Bass are amazing creatures aren't they? True, bona fide predators. Ive seen video on YouTube of essentially a bass that had tried to eat another bass almost the same darn size. It even managed to get its head in its mouth, lol.On 12/11/2014 at 3:15 PM, Bluebasser86 said:Ha! Sure looks like it on a couple of them doesn't it? The guy fishing in this video reels in so fast I thought the fish's swim bladder was going to pop lol.
This fish was fat everywhere

Another entry for my fattest bass caught yesterday. She measured 26.5"x19" girth.

Thanks. No weight. I have never gotten into the habit of carrying a scale. I fish from a kayak so it is generally just a quick picture on the "hawg trough" then back into the drink for them,
Beautiful fish. If you have the length and girth, you can always use the BR fish weight calculator. I've found it to be pretty accurate. I'd guess around 6 lbs each.On 12/13/2014 at 12:21 PM, Turtle135 said:a couple of chunky Maryland prespawn fish
That 20 incher is very thick for its length, 6 lbs id say on that one.
here was another Maryland bass from this past July, pretty good shape for a dog days fish but I would have liked to have seen this one back in March with a big belly

Nice, there's some monsters down there in Mined Wildlife Area. I wish I got down there to fish them more often but it's 2 hours to get down there, to the good ones anyways. I've seen some state record class fish in a couple of them.
This isn't the biggest and probably isn't the fattest I have ever caught but she is pretty fat. At the time the batteries were dead on my scale so I wasn't able to weigh her. I guessed she might have been 6 lbs due to the short length but I think I short-changed myself. She was between 21 and 22 inches long which is the same length as the fish in my Avatar and it was 6 lbs.

He's a mutt and a worthless fishing partner but he's my main man. If I start to load my kayak he loses it, and if I don't take him it's 2 weeks or so before he gets over it!! He loves to go fishing!
I just discovered this thread. What a bunch of pigs. I love it. Caught this one in July of last year on one of those Storm Spin Shads , this fish destroyed it. This was my second biggest of the day , but the fattest.
This was the big one of the day.
Here is a couple Maine bass that were fattys. Some serious girth to the first two.
This thread proves one thing. You dont have to own a an expensive bass boat to enjoy good bass fishing .

The first one had a 19.5 inch girth, 22.5 inches long. Weighed in at 8 lbs 1 oz.
The second one was a full pound bigger at 9 lbs 1 oz. It also had a 19.5 inch girth but was a full inch longer at 23.5 inches.
Both caught off of the same sunken tree way way off shore on the same lure two days apart.

I have a place the same way with lots of LM around 5 lb. You'd swear you're catching the same fish all the time if is wasn't for a mark or growth that when you look closer showing you it was a different fish!! It's fun fishing though since they are so scrappy!!
Here's some more from different lakes! The two fish I was holding are a pinch over 25" in length with one at 8.4 lbs and the other at 8.9 lbs which are my 2 biggest LM, but more importantly I hold them differently without jaw jacking them since I've learned that's bad!!

Care to share which ones? I know the trout pit is probably the main one.

Trout pit for sure is the main one. There's a pit also in unit 30 that's straight south of the Trout pit that has monsters in it. I had one full on eat a 12-13 inch bass I was fighting in on a jerkbait one spring. The small bass had the bait crossways and all the hooks in it's face so nothing to stick that monster with. Eventually she got tired of playing with that little fish, spit it out and sank out of sight. It was without a doubt a DD fish, and probably pushing state record size. The big pit in 41 has some monsters in it, probably mostly thanks to the monster shad that live in that one along with the overall size of the pit. I'm sure you're well aware that none of them give up fish easily though, so you have to work hard for them.
