I will be using this thread to post reports, pictures and videos for when I am in South Florida with a fellow BR member, MIBassin. The first morning of fishing will be sunday morning.
Here is what is coming......
Looking forward to it. Good luck!
Looking forward as well. Catch em' up!
looking forward to it and good luck
My first Florida fishing day will be either Sunday evening or Monday night. Hopefully the fish treat me well. Good luck on your Florida trip!
Productive morning with flukes, swimjigs, wacky rig and the heddon torpedo.

Too bad your arms aren't any longer, that fish would look even bigger!

Briefly went out this afternoon to see if anybody wanted a mid day snack...
I'll be heading to a different pond this evening.
This one weighed 4 1/2 lbs.. could have had a couple more pounds on her with a head like that
This one weighed 3 1/2 lbs and ate this bluegill swijig with a vertically rigged ragetail menace- first time catching using this as a trailer
Nice fish guys! Have fun!
Nice fish. Keep at it and catch some hawgs.
This evening's report with pictures and videos will come tomorrow. A bunch of big fat bass including a 6lb 1 oz bass, caught by my friend MIBassin, that shattered his PB by a whole one ounce!!!
Tell him he needs to be throwing that Nude Black 250.

He doesn't have his heavy swimbait rod down here in FL
Next time
Got a report for you all, this will be from yesterday evening and this morning. Just pictures for now, I will have a video put together in coming days; I want to compile both my footage and MIBassin's.
Here is MIBassin and his new PB of 6 lb 1 oz, caught on a spinnerbait.
Picture is a bit fuzzy since it was actually quite dark out.
Some more fish from the evening:
This bass is from this morning on a D&M custom chatterbait
Also from this morning...I had walked over to this small canal...
...and pulled out this 2 foot gar
Stay tuned!
Congrats on some great catches. Especially the PB.
Good job, young guns!

Got more photos from yesterday evening and today... video of the past few days will be uploaded this evening...
This guy ate a spro aruku shad
This mayan cichlid took a nip at my spinnerbait... and he was hooked on the main hook, not the trailer hook!!
And this big momma was pushing 6 lbs
Check back later for the video!!
Nice Work Boys ~
You're into some real Beauties.
Congrats

You guys are certainly having a ball, in a beautiful place with loads of fish.. We love the pics so keep them coming. Any peacock up your way? Looking forward to the video!

Thanks! No peacocks in these ponds, sadly. Going to head to a canal in the coming days to see if I can hook up with some peacocks.. they are so elusive to me
those are some studs right there. and that is an awesome looking bed in that little canal. would love to see the fish that made that.
Great Video - Thanks for sharing it -
But PLEASE ~ do yourself a huge favor and invest the $15 Bucks and get a Fish Grip.
You're going to get one eventually, might as well save yourself a trip to the ER -
Besides, trebles in the hand are not exactly a good time.

There was a ~5 lb tilapia sitting on it before I spooked her off. Cant seem to catch them on anything... All they eat is weeds

Thank you. I may even just get a net... It will help me land those fish off that bulkhead too

Good Idea -
And here's a little extra info to help you make the right choice the first time.
I like a rubber bag as it's easy on the fish and treble hook friendly. (Tangle Free)

Nice fish! And yeah, a net would be a great idea. I hardly ever go fishing anywhere with out one.
Wow, you guys are really hammering them!
Roger
Great video seems like non stop action! Might find a dd down there lol
Great day today!
Went to BPS this morning, picked up some spinnerbaits, jigs, terminal tackle, and some Mann's 12" jelly worms with big worm hooks.
Went out caught some good fish ranging from 3-4.5 lbs on spinnerbaits until I tied on the Mann's Jelly worm.
Tossed it along the bulkhead in 3 ft of water and saw my PB dive out and slam it.
She weighed 7lb 6oz

Use live night crawlers if you want to catch the tilapia.
That jig in his mouth though. Nice pic!On 4/6/2015 at 4:24 AM, Weld said:Briefly went out this afternoon to see if anybody wanted a mid day snack...

Wow you guys are catching some great fish in Florida. The year round spawning really produces big fish. Keep it up!
Nice fish.

He yoked it
Had a great time throwing lipless cranks this evening!
This 15" bass didn't seem to know how big he was...
I also caught this really cool tilapia on a grub. I was so surprised because the tilapia never eat lures.
New video will be coming tomorrow, stay tuned!
heck ya!
Awesome. Looks like fun.
Keep those pics coming. You guys are doing great!
Last report, flying home today
Things were getting quite slow, the bass weren't biting as well so I decided to try out a new lure: a Strikeking 3XD.
Most ponds here are very shallow but one is almost deep enough for this deep diving crank. I was surprised when I caught this little guy:
As I was finishing up I decided to tie on a jig and pitch into holes surrounded by thick weed mats. Pitched my jig in, felt a hard thump and set the hook:
She weighed 5lb 3 oz
Thanks to all of you who have followed this thread and I hope you have enjoyed the reports!
Things were a little slower than usual at my ponds, probably due to the extremely low water levels, yet I still managed to get my PB, and MIBassin managed his as well. Not as many fish compared to previous trips.. 38 fish over 14" total between MIBassin and I, with many <14" fish in between...Seemed like mainly the biguns showed up rather than the smaller bass this time around, which is something I'm not complaining about
3 fish between 1-2 lbs
10 fish between 2-3 lbs
7 fish between 3-4 lbs
11 fish between 4-5 lbs
5 fish between 5-6 lbs
1 fish between 6-7 lbs (MIBassin's PB of 6lb 1oz)
1 fish between 7-8 lbs (My PB of 7lb 6oz)
Back to my old job... catching the NY State record
Glad you enjoyed your South FL trip WELDS!! You guys really put a hurting to them. The fishing hole you have access to is very special to say the least. Congrats to the 2 of you in catching your PB's

Have you ever been out on Toho or The Butler chain?
On 4/12/2015 at 8:40 AM, BassObsessed said:Have you ever been out on Toho or The Butler chain?
No, I have not. The only Central FL lake I have fished on has been Lake Kissimmee, twice.
Toho is a good one for a new PB.
That's some list of numbers. Looks like it's gonna be a record year.
