Like i did last year, this will be my on going thread for the entire season...

A buddy that had a toon and I hit a lake for our minnesota bass opener last saturday the 24th...seemed like forever to get here, as always...fish caught pitchin jigs, frogs and hollowbodies...we mostly stuck with the jigs and swimbaits...got to break in my dobyns dx765Flip and revo rocket properly, a pitchin machine of a set up, love it!!...combined it was a 50+ fish day and needless to say the season started off with a bang!!...Mr P got big fish honors of the day with a 4.80# on a frog...i had 27 fish for the day landed and my top 10 went in #'s 3.39, 3.30, 3.30, 3.28, 3.10, 3.05, 2.99, 2.97, 2.95, 2.91...

the last few seasons for opener we had just crap weather, cold, rain and wind...this weather wise was the best by far in years, 80'ish with lots of sun (would of preferred some more clouds given a choice but we atleast had a bit of wind to give some rip to the clear waters we were fishin...we had cold temps just the week/weeks prior but then it turned around...so there was warm days & over night temps the week leading up to opener, so the stars aligned that way and it was on from the get go...first fish as you can see in the vid was just a short jog down from the launch...we didn't go long periods at all inbetween fish...it was a helluva day and really couldn't ask for anything better without just being greedy lol (of course i wish there would have been more 4+ tooned) but i'm not complaining...

thanks Jesse!! ya it was crazy and spooked me a bit lol there was another later on that i was burning it back in just the same way that smacked it but didn't hook up with that one...

it will come gonna be doing a bunch of mississippi backwaters here in the near future = sloposaurus froggin & the holy grail of duckweed...

was out 5/28 and jacked them on the hollowbodies = 42 fish day...few on a jig and one frogger but all the rest swimbaits...wanted to pitch the jig more but the bottom had a ton of filamentous algae that was wrapping my jig up like a mummy constantly...but it was obvious the swimbaits were on fire so i rolled with it all day...blew threw a crap pile of them, ran out of 4.5ers and went to the 3.5ers...

i got a late start purposely since it was a cool overcast mornin with north winds and wanted things to warm up a bit since the sun was going to show itself...then at the end of the day i had to force myself to put the stick down and head in...tough to do when the fish were still game and i had alot of productive shoreline i had to leave behind...but i was out of town and had to get to gettin...

big fish of the day went 4.87#'s on a 3.5"...top 5 went 4.87#, 3.50, 3.39, 3.04 & 2.93...

What reel are you using? Not sure if it's the Revo rocket but my buddy has one and that 9:1 ain't no joke!!! He let me use it when we were out and I managed to catch one on a frog and that thing is a beast! Not sure if that's what you have but the colors and the look of you reel seems similar.

glad you enjoy'em Mr A ...i almost didn't because it was gonna be pretty much rinse and repeat of last season for the most part but went ahead and started it... there will be some new backwaters i'll be hittin this season etc...so there will be some new territory coming up soon...for most of June i'll be hittin the backwaters hard...some of the same and some new waters...that dude i went with on opener, we got a backwater weekend trip planned for the middle of june...it will be his first Huck Finn tour of duty so i'm stoked for him to experience them, just something special about the backwaters...them being wildlife refuges is a definite plus as well, good fishin and awesome scenery...

in the Opener vids when i was pitchin jigs it was all the rocket, it is a machine of a reel...i'm not an abu guy per se but i got it for my pitchin stick and so far its been great and serving its intended purpose VERY well...haven't tried it for anything else yet but will be

thanks man!! at times you can really crush them with those...problem is that the particular ones i like using, i blow through them when their on'em like that, it was a costly day with the swimbaits lol

was out yesterday, which is my last inland lake outing till mid july since i'll be beating up the mississippi backwaters starting friday...managed 23 fish and top couple big girls went 3.76#'s & 3.65#'s but alot of good average quality fish throughout the day...most fish were either hollowbody and frog with a couple jig fish in the mix...it was work on some of those fish pulling them through that thick heavy filamentous algae slop but the dobs 736c gets the job done...
