Just a little curious on bass sizes on different lakes. Also let me know what lure or plastics you used
Mine was the one that got away.....
My wife
Better get this in before some of you other guys post yours and put mine to shame. These 2 were about the same size. Between 2.5 and 3 lbs. The first one came on a Rapala Shallow Shad Rap in Shad color and was caught on a shallow flat right up against the bank. The second came on a 3/8 oz. Strike King Spinnerbait in Gold/Red and was caught off of a log along side a big patch of lily pads.
4.5lbs at Smith Mountain Lake while night fishing for catfish. caught it on a drop shot with a live nightcrawler. its the one in my avatar
5 1/2 lbs. on a 1/2 oz. white and red spinnerbait. She followed it right up to the shore and nailed it . Had a pic on my phone, but that phone is in the bottom of a lake now. Oops!
Largest LMB was in FL on few day old shrimp under a float went around 8#s.
Second LMB was in PA on a hula grub on a shaky head, 5# 1 ounce, about 10 feet of water letting the wind drift the bait.

Oh, ok gotcha.
I've fished for bream and crappie most of my life with my dad.. just recently got into bass fishing with my brother and I'm loving it.
We both caught our PB last week from a local private pond. I pulled in a 5lbs 6oz on a Bandit 200 series crankbait. A couple days later my bro caught a 6lb 01oz on a 6" Zoom U-tail worm t-rigged.
I caught the one in my profile pic from the same pond 3 weeks ago... I didn't have a scale so not sure what it weighed. It was just over 20" long so I'd guess 4- 4.5lbs.
Biggest in my home state is 7-2 for LMB, and 5-12 for SMB.
9.13 on a man chatter bait black and blue.. craw fatty trailer blue black flake
around 4.5-5lbs in my profile pic, on a senko, though i think i might have caught larger ones but probably nothing over 5-6lbs so far...
8lbs, 4ozs, which is in my picture on the left.
I actually caught her on a wacky-rigged, nail-weighted, Culprit red and black 7.5" ribbontail worm... maybe a reaction strike?
Always a fun topic of show and tell.
I had a chance to take a job in Texas a few years ago. My previous personal best was a smallmouth at 7lb-3oz. My LMB PB was 6.5 lbs. (I've caught 100s of 5-7 lb smallmouth before moving here.)
In the last year or so, my LMB PB jumped up. I got a 7 plus (forgot exact weight), then several 8+, several 9s (9-13) biggest; then two months later, 10-5. My biggest bass in a tournament is 8.44.
The one in my avatar 9#2oz
9.54 on a blue over chrome lipless crank.
10# 7 ounces on March 15th 2013 with a Chatterbait. I had caught a 9-9 about an hour earlier on the same lure, same general area, and same pattern.
9.75 lbs on a june bug Brush Hog

I'm stuck in the nines. 9-0, 9-2, 9-4 & 9-8. Caught two on a spinner bait, one on a swim bait & one on a scrounger jig with fluke trailer.

I don't think I'd mind being stuck here!
My biggest two are 5.2 and 5.3, and both were caught on rat-l-traps in the hottest days of summer.
well, hate to be the guy that didn't measure it but i was too far from the house and didn't expect a single bite... very cold in shallow water on a crappy day with a good helping of overcast... caught on a watermelon seed green tube flipper jig in a mess of sticks... tell me what you think she weighed/measured...

Bummer man. That's a tough spot to be in............ end sarcasm. I'm far away from a double digit. 7lbs for me but that's not bad for up north I suppose.

First post!
I just caught it today in South Florida on a Rapala Rattle Trap (fire tiger color) Didnt get to weigh it. What do you think?
In my hunt to break the state record of 12lbs 14ozs i'm up to 10lbs now being my biggest so far. I caught her on a Rebel BIG Claw crawfish crankbait that dives to ten feet and also floats. I caught her two feet from shore just before dawn at 5am. I was shocked to see the size of this fish. I have only fish this big in saltwater. I was fishing by the moon phases . The moon charts i used said "good early"the so i went at about 3:30am and fished till first light. This was during the full moon cycle. The guys at infisherman say to catch the bigger record breaking fish we have to fish during the fullmoon phases. I was also fishing by mauri charts too when it was in the outdoor life magazine. Up until then i have caught many 2lbers to 6lbers most of the time ie same spot. I fish this one spot all summer very heavily in the early hours of the am. I fish everyday but i pay special attention to the moon phases too. At the early am its the only time i can fish alone there and its quiet. Finding at night its too crowded. Plus i find the fish are bigger in the am too. I enjoy catching any size bass the two to three pounders are the most fun. The secret is to stay going everyday. bill
btw, To fish by the moon phases look at the charts and figure them to your time zone they may vary for hours.
Just caught my PB today....6.2 lbs and 22", on an Eakins finesse jig w/4" Rage Grub.
10 pounds, 50 years ago when I was about 10 years old, with live bait - blue gill on a treble hook. Threw it under the dock where I knew that fish lived. She'd broke me off before on the dock pilings so I knew to get her out of there quick.
Since then, 7 pounds, drifting a little red/pink 2 or 3 inch plastic trout worm on an ultra light rig behind my row boat, not really fishing, just left the line pay out while I was moving from spot to spot, when I stopped to set up and reeled in - whammo!
4lbs flippin.
11lbs 4oz on a grass stalker jig w/a flapping hog trailer. "Fishing Drew" and I caught 3 DD's off the same laydown in one day w/another 6 over 8lbs...Every big prespawn fish in the lake was on that tree that day lol. I had just had my wisdom teeth out the day before and was on the fence about heading out, glad I did!
My biggest largemouth from my home state is 7lbs 14ozs on a Yum Wooly Bug in a brushpile.
Biggest ever is this one at 10lbs 2ozs from Lake Comendero, Mexico on an 8" Zoom Lizard.
I'm stuck on 5lbs for smallmouth, I've beat the odds and caught 3 smallmouth that weighed exactly 5 pounds. 2 from Milford Lake, KS, one on a Lucky Craft Slender pointer 97MR and one on a Zoom Trick Worm on a slider head. The most recent was this one from Melvern Lake, KS on a Lucky Craft CBS Zero

First off, that is a very nice bass, anywhere in the country My guess would be 7-8'ish ?
But what I think, is that because you didn't weight it, you now have no idea how big your PB was.... nor what to shoot for, to top it. For a lot of people, this would not be a big deal. It would freaking kill me. I'm just very into stats.
Plus, when some jealous hater says, "Yea'... but your holding it out to make it look bigger...." You can tell them, regardless of where I was holding it, it weighed xx.x lbs"
Continued success to you

Man I'd bury the hatchet to get a picture of that fish if I'd caught one that big. At least ask him just to text it to me
25.5" long with an 18.5' girth. Gut hooked her with a shiner at Okeechobee in 2011. She weighed 9.4 pounds on a high dollar bathroom scale 30 hours after I had caught her. She was on ice probably 24 of those 30 hours. Think it could have been a 10 pounder 30 hours earlier? I'll never know. I mounted her.
Two monthbs ago I caught a 24.25 " bass with a 17" girth out of Guntersville. Estimated 8.3 pounds. Released.
Lost one about a month ago that made the both of these look like a minnow. Fishing Guntersville. Got a great look at her and she looked like those 12 pounders they pull from Falcon. Best guess is she was between 11 and 14, but if I had to say, between 12 and 13. We pullled the 25.5 incher down off the wall and held her out about 15 feet like we saw the other, and again, she looked like a minow in comparison.
Thanks for the response. I am kinda mad that I didn't have a scale with me. I'm going to buy a handheld digital one. How accurate are they? I had my friend who was on the boat take the picture and he told me how to hold the bass so he could take the picture now that I look at it,it does seem to make the fish look a little bigger. I'm not worried about what other people think anyway. I've had a few people tell me somewhere around 8 lbs but then I heard a 6 lb and a 10lb so If I had to guess I would say it was around 7-8 like you said. My goal is to get one over 10 lbs one day. Thanks again. On 5/26/2013 at 12:16 AM, Fish Chris said:Tshare, welcome

Went today by myself and pulled this guy out of the water. I tried taking the best pic I could considering I was by myself and wanted to get my face in the pic. I was using the same thing as my last personal best. (fire tiger rattle trap) I was going to buy a digital scale this weekend too. So another bass that I cant get an official weight on. This one was bigger then the last one though.
Man you are on them! Keep at it and get that scale!!!!
