Accordingly, reservations have been made and a significant number of rooms have been blocked. Because we are so short of time, I have elected to stick to our original plan, and hold the unofficial road trip beginning Wednesday, March 18th thru Monday March 23.
Toledo Bend is a world-class big bass lake, and the Fin & Feather is sited on Housen Bay, one of the most productive bays in the lake. At the time of year we have selected, the bass should be in spawn or post-spawn mode.
I know that traveling to Toledo Bend is a very long drive for many of you, so I know that some of you who have attended our trips in the past will not be able to make it. Trust me, you will be missed. On the flip side of the coin, I want to invite our members from Louisiana and Texas, who have not been able to make previous trips to, for you, remote locations to join us in your own back yard. Those attending will be invited to participate in the Biggest Bass contest. This is not mandatory. If you wish to participate it will cost you $20. At the end of fishing on Sunday, the person who caught the largest bass for the week will take home all the money. It should help pay for the gas.
So, without further ado, Roadwarrior and I cordially invite you to attend the ninth annual, but unofficial, and unsanctioned Bass Resource Road Trip!

Hello,
I regret to inform you that there will not be an official BR RoadTrip in 2015. Unfortunately the event has struggled to gain traction, momentum, and numbers. Essentially, we have the same number of people attend every year, and most of them are the same familiar faces - meaning it's not growing. At the same time, expenses continue to rise and rise. To add to it, we've struggled to get sponsors due to the low numbers.
We've tried many different venues and timeframes, plus different speakers, giveaways, lodging and dinner options, and big fish awards. But the event simply isn't resonating with most people. The last few events, we've struggled to get enough boaters to attend.
So, I've pulled the plug on the event.
But fear not! Long Mike is spearheading an unofficial RoadTrip for 2015. This will be an informal get-together of forum members at a destination of their choosing. Please contact Mike if you're interested. Although it won't be a BassResource sanctioned event, I'm sure it will be fun for all who attend.
Glenn
What areas do these trips typically cover?
Sorry to hear that.
While I have only been on the last two.......I think they were great.
I really appreciate all of the hard work and endeavors you have put into pulling the road trips together as well as keeping the forum running.
While I will miss the official BassResource Roadtrips.......I hope you will attend the 'unofficial' Roadtrip if you can......I really enjoyed fishing with you last year.
I'd like to see a official plan thread when it's made
Not knowing what my future will hold schedule wise I can't confirm but Definatly interested in having you guys make fun my of goofy bait cast cast lol
That's really too bad, understandable but too bad.
Last year was my first.
Mrs Mike and I really enjoyed meeting you and Keri and finally putting a face to a name.
We met people that we wouldn't normally have had a chance too, but more importantly we feel fortunate to have had a chance to make new friends.
Which is exactly what we did.
And for that, I thank you.
(Tell Keri Jeannie says Hi)
Mike
How about a road trip up north? There are a lot of us Yankees up here in lager more condensed areas. I bet you would get more people to show. Just a thought.

I really need to get my time off into the work calendar, make arrangements for somebody to take care of the kiddo and just know how much dough I need to save up to meet expenses.
Only about 3 months to go ..........historically speaking.
Anytime you and Beckie want to come to Florida. We will put you up at the lake house.
In fact, if anyone wants to come to Florida anytime between March and October I can get deals on cabins here
http://oakharbor-rv.com/Oak_Harbor/Welcome.html
I have a place there and do all the emergency repairs to the sewer and water systems so I get great pricing anytime the snowbirds aren't here.
It is on Lake Lowery. Kissimmee and Toho are about 30 min away. An hour to get to the Harris Chain or Istokpoga and less than 2 hours from Okeechobee.

Sorry to hear that Glenn. After the great time Jackie and I had at the 2011 trip, I can assure you that we would have been back every year if we hadn't been handcuffed in this current situation.
You and the entire road trip crew have gone above and beyond to put together a high quality opportunity for all of the members here for many years.

I live close to you and would love to try Toledo Bend, but I'm not crazy about driving 1800 miles round trip to bed fish or fish for post spawners. If it was a pre-spawn bite, I'd be interested.
I have never fished Toledo Bend....but from what I have read, the lake is large and there should still be plenty of prespawn fishing to do............probably just depends on the weather.
Its a 2 day drive for me lol but going to do anything in my power to get there. Will we get any special deals of rooms?
Bummer to hear ... I wanted to go last year but other commitments (namely a surgery) kept me from going. Intended to go this year ... such a bummer.
anyone going from the KY OH WV area?

I'm one conformation away from being there.
Toledo Bend is well 100,000 acres, and is over 60 miles long and runs from north to south. Depending upon the weather, the spawn can start as early as February on the South end of the lake and as late as May on the North end. A cold winter will obviously delay the spawn. I was generalizing when I stated that the fish would be in spawn to post spawn mode. I don't bed fish, but I fished Housen Bay last March and caught one that went about five pounds, and she hadn't spawned yet.
For those of you who haven't noticed, there's a thread in the Central Bass Fishing section titled "So Yall Want to Learn Toledo Bend." As of this writing, it's 256 pages of very valuable information. It's hosted by Catt, who has been fishing the lake for better than forty years. I'm very much hoping that he can join us.
For those of you who will traveling long distances, there is nothing in the rules (in fact, there are no rules) that say you can't stay longer, to make your trip worthwhile. I have blocked rooms for only the dates mentioned in my initial post, but it's up to you to make the reservations, and to book them for as long as you like.
And now, for a little candy.

Welcome to my house boys
Ok let's set the house rules!
First bring your rain gear
Second bring your cold gear
Third bring your warm weather gear
Odds are you'll use all three!
The first thing you will notice is the pond is big, 190-200,000 acres, 65 miles long, 10 miles wide, 1,200+ miles of shore line. Extreme structure, heavy timber, various vegetation.
Be warned this lake can be extremely rough during bad weather. I know I've heard all the stories from all over the country on how rough it gets on your home lake. What makes Toledo the worst you will ever run is you must stay in well marked boat lanes. This means you will hit the waves from every possible angle.
Pre-spawn & spawn will start in late January/February & well run into late April. One can start up north & follow the spawn south.
Stay tuned for more!

What???
That sounds like typical spring weather!
I can't wait......very excited to fish this lake.
Of you stay in Housen that time of e year you will be targeting more press pawn fish than anything. Mid march the spawn is normally around the bridge area, the south end spawns late march and early April. I'll be there a few of the days hopefully!! I may have an open seat a day or two too.
I can't miss this one since it's so close (5 hrs) but have conflicts. My son is TX BASS youth and high school director and their state championship is the 21st on Texoma. I usually set up with him the day before and help during launch and weigh in. My plan is to head down Tues or Wed and depart Fri morning. Would any of the locals be willing to throw in with me to provide Wed night fish fry and/or shrimp/crawfish boil? BTW, this will be my first time on TB and I'm pumped!!

Alright, I finally got to look over my calendar. Hoping to be there the 19-21st! I'll for sure have an open seat on the 19th, possibly the other two days too.
I wouldn't miss Toledo Bend for the world! Unfortunately, my parents don't share my sentiments .
I made it to the 2008 RoadTrip, and haven't missed one since. I'm gonna have to miss this one. If I were retired, I could do it, but it's just too far for me to go this time.

NNNNNOOOOOOOOO..................say it ain't so Gary!
You do realize that if you started in 2008.......this would be your 8th roadtrip? The last number in the year you began to attend!
Your not making it could do something bad to the space-time continuum or the fabric of time!
We will miss you buddy.......but I will hold out a little bit of hope that you will partake of the party box of wine next week and change your mind.
The Bass Resource RoadTrip is one the things I look forward to every year. Seeing some old friends, and making new ones is, always one the highlights of the year for me. Being unable to attend tho 2015 trip is killing me, but I have no choice.
I get a lot of time off. My full time job is a Monday - Thursday, 32 week per year thing, but I have no vacation time. I have two personal days per academic year, and I've used those for the past 7 years during the RoadTrip. I would have to spend two days driving down, one day of fishing, than two days driving home. Not gonna happen.
I can easily see a bunch of us having a couple of unofficial trips every year. We should keep that idea alive, and see what happens.
Chris, on a different note, you need to go trout fishing with us again.

ABSOLUTELY! And yes I do......I'd love to go again.
Some up north might consider flying in and finding some empty seats.
Also, as Catt said. The lake can be tough in windy conditions. However it has launches just about everywhere around it so you can usually get out of the rough stuff by trailering to a different area.
well... unfortunately I'm not going to be able to attend this year either.. it is just too far for me to travel also.
I made the past 2 and they were the best fishing I've ever had.....not to mention it was great to meet everyone. I had really looked forward to next year's trip....it is killing me... Toledo Bend is one of The places I'd like to fish.... I just can't make it happen with the distance.
hopefully some of the guys closer in the Midwest put something together??? I'd be up for that.. heck, I'd make a weekend trip to fish a few times this summer if the offer is there...

Yeah, I'm in Indy, and that drive would destroy me. It would be great to have an unofficial road trip here in the midwest sometime! I think there are a lot of people here on B.R. that live in the midwest and would like to get together and fish!
Gonna miss the folks that can't make it.......but I understand.
We have kind of settled on not traveling anywhere on trip like this that we are unable to make in a day's drive. Unless there is another lake that we want to fish that would break the drive up (ie drive 7 hours to lake 1 and fish for a day....then proceed 12 hrs to lake b for destination fishing)
And with that being said......there will always be the possibility of an exception!

I agree, wouldn't want to travel any farther than the Pickwick RT a couple years ago. That drive was a beating. That said, I have always wanted to do a southeastern tour and hit lakes from TX to FL and back. Figure I would need a few weeks off and a pretty good gas card to do this but I'll keep wishing!

OK guys, let's have a head count. If you are going to make the trip, PM me with the following:
Screen Name
Real Name
Cell Phone Number
Emergency contact person and phone number
Will you be bringing your boat, and if so, do you have a seat available?
Otherwise, do you need a seat?
I will keep the information you provide confidential and will post on the forum only your screen name, the number of seats available, and the number of seats needed.
In addition, if you are interested in hosting a bar-b-que, fish fry, or some other meal for our group then please let me know. As on previous Road Trips, we will ask that the attendees make a contribution to help offset your costs for the meal. I'll start it off. Road Warrior and I will host a hamburger cook-out on one of the evenings.
When I have received all of your info I will post a list of attendees and a formal ajenda for the get-together. Remember, this is not a tournament. It's just a bunch of guys and gals who want to meet and fish with new friends and old ones.
I would love to attend. Toledo Bend is my home lake.
Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new friends. I hope you can make it this year!

Roadwarrior yeah i think i should be able to. Im not a boater so i need to finda seat. But if all works out ill def be there.
I'm hoping to bring the wife along this year and expect to be able to commit as soon as her vacation request is approved. As I mentioned before, other obligations only allow me to attend the first couple of days. I hope to arrive Tuesday but will have to depart Thurs night unless something changes. Mike, is that offer to demo the troller still good? Looking forward to fishing the Bend with y'all!!
Bert, the offer still stands, but I hope to have an Ulterra mounted on the bow by then. Same as the older Terrova, but this one self-deploys and retrieves. Perfect for an old fart like me.
Even if I don't make the trip (probably won't) I will send a batch of baked beans with BassnChris for the hamburger cookout.

Wife is approved, I'm in. Will arrive 3/16, depart 3/18. Would have loved to spend the entire time there with everyone. I will provide a fish fry Wed evening if that's what y'all would like.
I should be there for Friday evening and the weekend. Just waiting on a tournament schedule to come out to be sure. I'll let you know when it is confirmed and would probably have an open seat.
Hey, Hey, Hey.............Only 60 days to go!
C'mon....who's in for this Road Trip?
Sure to be a great time!
This pre-RT thread is part of the fun!
I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to make it this year. Medical reasons, or I'd make the drive in a heartbeat. Just the anticipation of the trip got me through the winter last year. To help get through this winter, I'm planning a get together for some of the guys up this way in May. Hopefully it will all come together.
Have a great time.

Will see if it fits into our plans. Way to many trips this year. 2 weeks in Yellowstone then Northern In. Reelfoot lake the end of April. Mid April Chattanooga Tn End of March Grenada lake ms..

Most of us still have seats available in our boats, so if you are a non-boater, do not let that stop you. Provided you are eighteen or over, or if under eighteen accompanied by a guardian, everyone is invited.
I remember this first Road Trip I attended. It was the second road trip, and was held at Lake Fork, TX. After a long hiatus, I had just gotten back into bass fishing, and was a newbie on these forums. With trepidation, I asked if I was allowed to attend. I was welcomed with open arms, and I must say that I had a ball. I haven't missed a trip since then, and that was eight years ago. Come on down! Lassiez Les Bon Temps Rouler!
I should be there, unless my work schedule changes. Look forward to meeting everyone.

Now I got some help guiding y'all but then again I owe Wesley a trip!
No problem Catt, we'll just follow Ya'll. Maybe I'll catch something that way.
Just sent a message to confirm. Will only be able to get there Friday-Sunday but let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
My concern is not with anyone's ability to locate & catch bass on this lake at that time of the year.
My concern is timing/weather!
Pre-spawn/Spawn fishing on this lake is either on or it aint!
Y'all better keep the trolling motor batteries hot & the tank full of gas. We might be running & gunning or staying in one place.
Wesley has every bit of experence that I have plus he lives on the lake. Together with others who fish the lake maybe we can help with "aint" days.
Yea I didn't see Bass_Fanitic!
Now if we could all be there together for at least one day!
I should be there Friday and Saturday. Look forward to meeting y'all and catching some fish!
I have a tournament out there the weekend prior, so hopefully I'll already be on some fish!

Hey Wes who you fishing with? If you want another stick in the boat let me know. I think you have my number or at least have me on facebook, as long as I don't have any prior tournaments ill be glad to go out with you guys.
26 hour drive straight through, 1661 miles one way. Honestly, if I had more vacation time, I would do it. I drove to Kentucky Lake one year, that was about 20 hours straight through (obviously I didnt drive that alone), whats another 6 hours? LOL One day I will make it to one of these!
Let me wet your whistle!

COCKED-LOCKED-READY TO ROCK
Well I was planning on attending this event but one of my work projects got pushed back and our Go-Live for the system will be around the date of this event. I had not posted earlier because the pending date for the project was still up in the air. :-/
This is a major bummer because I was really looking forward to going to Texas for the first time, doing some Bass Fishing and meeting some of the great and helpful people on this forum. I'll have to wait till the next one.
Anyone attending the Roadtrip interested in splitting a room?
All - Too late for a co-angler to jump into the fun? I might be able to make this work. Flying in Thursday night and be there Friday - Sun. Fly back monday.
Let me know and I will try and make it. I would be up for rooming with someone to save on cost too.
Never too Late!

Welcome Felix! Looking forward to meeting you!
I'll be down there next Saturday 2/21-2/28 with five boats from Missouri for our annual family road trip. Surely one of us will figure them out in a week. Will post what we find. You guys are going to hit it perfectly. I wish we were waiting till mid March but I'll gladly leave 20 degrees for the promise of highs in the 50's!

Nope, I'm in. My other obligations may be changing in a way that allows me to attend thurs-sun which would allow me to meet Catt and more attendees.
Oh, and by the way, I may be going down for a few days the week before. Chad has a BASS youth deal there and it's his spring break so we may fish a couple days. I'll post up what I learn if that comes to pass.
I am going to try and come. I live in Jasper. Wrp75951, Ryan Powell, 4095948736.
Since i am fairly new to this forum, can anybody go ot is it invite only? Sorry if this question has been answered already. And my next question is that do the sites you choose change? It would be to far to go this year, but if it was a little closer I could some time. I work sat-mon 12 hour shifts so it could be an ideal trip for me:-):-). Plus any vacation time I can use. Thanks again for everyone on this site for your help. Sorry if this question has been answered already.
Anyone and everyone is welcome!
We've fished hard for 2 days in and near Carrice Creek. Caught one 2.5 lb on a spinnerbait near the bank and one on a football jig. That's all the news I have for you. Crappie biting under docks in Carrice early and then they just shut off. Looks like a tough week of weather ahead of us. Wish I had more to report.
As Bass_Fanatic said, everyone over the age of 18 is invited, with or without a boat, and with or without bass fishing experience. Yes, the lake we fish changes from year-to-year. Since the *** of the Road Trips, we have fished Lake Fork twice, Kentucky Lake twice, Pickwick Lake twice, Wilson Lake, and Guntersville Lake twice. This is our first trip to Toledo Bend.
With great reluctance I must inform everyone that Road Warrior is going to have to miss his first Road Trip. He has taken on a new job that begins March 1st. Kent feels that his new employer would not be very understanding if he took a week of vacation 18 days after he was hired. Go figure. Regardless, I'm going to step into his shoes and host the annual hamburger cook-out. The date and venue to be announced later.
Dog gone it Kent........we'll miss you!
Good luck in your new job buddy........save up that vacation time for next year!
If y'all scared...say ya scared!
LOL......I'm skeered of the stumps!
I ain't, if the lake is within 5' of full pool, but I keep my eyes wide open.
Well definitely hope I can be a part of it next year. Toledo bend just little far from indiana. Sounds like alot of fun and educational as well. Hope you guys and gals have a blast!!!

Just remember -- not everyone will have the coin to drop on Stella's and Loomis
Well, I will actually have limited contact with customers, except friends of course.
My job is managing and motivating the staff, keeping the store in "showroom"
condition and dealing with problems. An immediate challenge is becoming more
familiar with in-store branded products.
Called F&F just now to make a res and they are booked up. Something about a couple tourneys that weekend. Drug my feet waiting for my schedule to firm up and shouldn't have. Looking for alternatives now.
Ok, was able to book a place for Sharon and I a mile or so away at Fox's lodge. Will arrive Thursday depart Sunday. See y'all soon!
Hey Bert, I love staying at Fox's. David and Pam, the owners, are great folks. If I hadn't of been planning on a large group function, I would have stayed there. The accommodations are not exactly 4 star, but the sheets are clean, the roaches are kept at bay, and the HVAC works. What more can a fisherman ask for?
Good to hear Mike!!
Hate to cancel, Long Mike, I was looking forward to fishing Toledo Bend--I never have fished it before.
I had major surgery a little over three weeks ago and although it went ok I am not able to make the 900+ mile drive so soon.
I will look forward to seeing the photos and hearing the "stories" about the big ones that got away at next year's road trip.
Mike, sorry to hear about the surgery, but it's good to hear that you are recovering well. Hope to see you on the next Road Trip!
Glad your getting better Mike........see ya next time!
I hear water temps around 50 now with cool weather forecast the next 10 days. May not warm much before we get there.
When y'all get here the spawn should be in full swing!
Get well soon Mike. RW ... sorry to hear you won't make it either ...
15 Days! Gettin' closer every day!
Getting close!!! I have a tournament down south this weekend, after that looks like I will be up there every weekend. Trying to swing the long easter weekend too.

2- Will roadwarrior join the Carbonlite Posse?

It's a cryin shame that many of our regulars will not be able to make it this year, because The Bend is such an awesome fishery. However, I'm looking forward to seeing a few old friends and making new ones. Tomorrow I will post a schedule of who will be there when, but right now I'm watching a very good movie.
Woo Hoo! We are under 10 days!
can't explain how excited I am for this trip. Looking forward to making some new friends and memories to last me a lifetime!
With the exception of BassinChris, Bighead, Felix77, and me, it appears that everyone will be arriving on Friday and leaving on Sunday. The rest of us will be arriving earlier and leaving later. It's very disappointing that everyone cannot stay for the duration of the event. For that reason, I am planning on holding the hamburger cook-out on Friday evening. It will be our first meet and greet as a group. I'll throw the burgers on the pit at 6:00. If anyone wants to help me slice and dice, please show up at 5:30. I'll supply Becky's famous baked beans, soft-drinks and beer, but if you want anything stronger, its BYOB. I'll pass the hat and ask for a $5.00 contribution to help offset my costs. Contributions are not mandatory. Bighead, with such a small group, are you still willing to do your fish-fry? If so, we can do it on Saturday evening, using the same approximate time frame. I'll firm up the location of the cook-out(s) tomorrow.
With the exception of Felix77, is there anyone else who will be arriving without a boat? This is an occasion for us all to make new friends. It seems that we will have more boaters than non-boaters. Would you guys be receptive to a random draw that might leave your boat sitting on the trailer while you fished with someone new, and vice-versa the next day?
I don't have a problem riding with someone or taking my boat. I would love to get in the boat with some of the guys that really know the place. You could even break the days in 2 parts and swap partners during lunch. (or we can follow Catt, Fanatic and Wesley )
Mike, I'll be prepared to fry fish Sat at the same time. Catfish, fries, coleslaw, and beans sound ok?
On 3/9/2015 at 11:22 PM, bighead said:Mike, I'll be prepared to fry fish Sat at the same time. Catfish, fries, coleslaw, and beans sound ok?
Mmmmmmmm.......sounds real good Bert.
I'm really looking forward to it! Be glad to finally meet some guys that I talk with a lot over the forums and phone. Fishing should be at its peak and we should see some big fish caught!!
I was mistaken when I said the Wesley was going to join us. He has started a new job and will be offshore. We'll miss you Wesley.
Bert, I'm very much looking forward to your fish fry. Once again we'll pass the hat for donations.
I absolutely regret having to announce I'm out!
A prior commitment that was canceled due to the passing of an old friend has been rescheduled for Saturday, the only day I could make it.

You will be missed. Was looking forward to meeting you.
Yea, sorry to see a lot of folks can't make it. Its always hard to get schedules in line. Seems like there is always so much on the table in our life today. We may not get a bite but we sure as heck will slow it down for a few days and have a good time.
Well crap, Tommy. Very sorry to hear that you can't make it. Maybe next year. It seems that we have potential attendees dropping like flies. We are now down to a cozy little group of seven; the perfect number for a penny-ante game of bourre'.
It's crazy! Aint been on the lake in 6-8 months, I'm usually there at least once a month.
Aint been fishing in 3 weeks!
The weather looks like it's break just right, it should explode!
Water temp still in the lower 50's. This will be prespawn for sure. Bigun's turned on last weekend in Texas, three over 13 were landed including a 15.17 on Ray Roberts and a 13 something in a Bass Champs tourney on Rayburn.
I'm totally surprised to see that our resident spell-checker "Long Mike" hasn't done anything about the misspelled title of this thread. You're slipping Mike --or is that "sipping"?

Getting fired up!!!
http://www.toledo-bend.com/toledo_bend/index.asp?request=fishrpt&which=jj
Was hoping to do some sight fishing, but the weather is calling for rain. I was on some big fish Friday, so hopefully I can get someone on em. Had 3 fish over 7lbs come off one spot Friday and Saturday. Had a few others over 5lbs running the same pattern. The fishing shut off Saturday with all the boats, so Wednesday-Friday should be y'all's best days!
The fish had to be dizzy saturday with the boat traffic. I did not even attempt to get in any coves to see if something shallow was going on. I think the dirty water had the fishermen piled in some areas. Only had 4 saturday. Two around 4 and 2 other keepers. All off one spot. Did not even put the boat in the water today, packed up and came home. I am saving my patience for next weekend. Its probably gonna be a crazy march and april.
I think I will try to get up there Thursday night so I can fish friday. may be a few less boats up there.
Josh, were you fishing in Housen?
Nope, housen is a little more stained than I like. I stayed around mill and buck creek.
My first reaction was to run from the stained water, I'm rethinking that decision now. FYI Mike and others, main lake looks pretty good around white oak and most other places around there. Didn't go around hurricane but I think you can find some good fishing close. I caught a few 13-17 feet and got a couple of other deeper reports. I don't mind mixing it up with boats shallow but right now most of the boats are right over where I think you can catch some good fish 6-10 feet just off the grass. Don't mind fishing behind someone just not right where they just trolled over in 6 feet of water. I really think I could have done better in the stained water with very few boats around. Especially close to the mud lines. We'll see.
It makes me sick to have to tell everyone that I will be unable to make the trip. Last week I tripped and took a hard fall to my hands and left knee. Three days ago my left leg below the knee began to swell to three times its normal size and turned bright red. I finally got to see my doctor today, who informed me that I most probably have a blood-clot that resulted from the fall. He has scheduled me for an ultrasound test tomorrow morning to locate the blood-clot. When I told him about the fishing trip he said that under no circumstances was I to sit behind the wheel of a car for more than an hour, let alone seven. I am to keep the leg elevated with a heating pad on it. He feels that at this time no surgery is indicated, and that the clot can be dissolved with medication. It will depend upon the results of the ultrasound.
I have been eagerly looking forward to this trip for a year, only to have it jerked out from under me at the last minute. If I was a kid I would cry.
Well that's certainly a bummer LM. What's a road trip without RW and LM preparing dinner after one or maybe two, at the most, drinks.
For those who are heading out to the Road Trip, Bon Voyage, and catch 'em up. Catch a few for me while you're at it.
Wow! Hope everything turns out OK for you Mike.
Ya heal up Mike!
Blood clots aint nothing to play with
FYI: since 01/01/15 there have been 43 double digit bass weighed on the Bend!
I made it.......1 blowout and 4 tires later.........didn't want anymore surprises so I just replaced all 4 since I have no idea what shape the old tires were in........next time I won't buy a boat so close to the Roadtrip.
I need to visit the local marine shop first thing in the morning and then hope to get out on the water.....cautiously!
Chris....what did I tell you about tires at last year's RoadTrip?
As a reminder: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/trailer-tire-blowout.html
For Mercury engines I hear nothing but good things about the dealer in Six Mile. Never had to use him so info is second hand.
The guy at six mile is awesome! He took time to teach me what to look for for certain problems and walked me through my whole motor! Chris, good luck tomorrow! It should be on!
Have fun!
Hey Mike sorry to hear about your bad luck. Hope you heal quick. Take care of yourself.
Geez...
I hope the meds work and surgery is not required.
Be well my friend!
Mike, really sorry to hear of your mishap. I hope you get through the healing process quickly.
Chris, glad to hear you made it mostly intact. Looking forward to hearing what you see when you get on the water
Guy's, I remain "in". I'll be there Thurs mid morning and get started fishing when I arrive. Looks like rain gear will be important on this RT. I'm staying a mile away at Fox's but hope to meet up with whoever is there that evening for dinner. Let's stay in touch and make the most of this.
I'm working on getting up there Thursday night, 7:30 or so. Would like to meet up for a burger or a cold beverage. Probably stay til Sunday afternoon. Sunday looks good so far. So, we have 3 definite? Is everyone staying through the weekend?
Its looking like I will have to just make a day trip. I have a meeting Friday night at 6 that I have to be at. I will more than likely drive up Friday morning, meet anyone that wants yo hop in the boat and fish until 3 or so then have to head home. If someone wants to fish with me Friday, give me a holler.
So it seems, Chris, Bert, and jerry will be there for sure through the weekend. Felix, you still in? I'll be there Friday only it seems. Y'all wanna do a bragging rights tournament Friday? That way we can at least show off our fish to one another at "weigh in".
You gonna spot us 15lbs or so??
Haha, I need every ounce I can get. I have struggled out there for the most part this year. Hopefully that changes this week. I would love to put someone on some good fish!
Good luck guys!!!

To you Bend veterans - be sure to take good care of Chris and Felix. They both are newbies to the lake and could really use some of your guidance and knowledge.
Long Mike, when you heal up & wanna make a trip to the Big Pond let us know!
Yep road trip II, and how did the scan go?
Catt,I just looked and they have 9 gates cracked open on the spillway. Too bad they can't send some of that water to south west texas. Hopefully they got some with this system that went through.

Y'all wanna do a bragging rights tournament Friday? That way we can at least show off our fish to one another at "weigh in".
Yep.....Felix will be here Thursday night.

As a reminder: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/trailer-tire-blowout.html
I know, I know.......that was the only thing I didn't replace on the trailer/boat that was questionable.....as soon as the one blew......I knew to replace all 4.
Thank you Glenn.

Good luck and tight lines to the ones attending. I would of liked to make it up to the lake for the weekend, but i had prior commitments for the elite series on the sabine. Hope we hear stories of big fish in the boat!
Jerry, shoot me a text or call when your coming to the lake and we'll all meet up for dinner
Flying down now. Feel like a kid on Christmas morning!
C'mon guys. We want some catch reports.
The quick report is that the Sabine is flowing muddy water like crazy into the lake. It's over pool about a foot as I understand it, water I've seen is stained. Lots of boats on the lake but didn't see a lot of catching. Sharon and I got on the water at lunch time and tried the grass flats on the north side of Housin. Lots of junk floating in the water, hard to keep a bait from getting fouled. Moved to the south side and picked up a couple shallow and then one off a dock. Continued fishing docks and ended up with a dozen or so 12-16" fish from 4-13' of water. My WAG is that these are bucks moved up to look for a place to bed. Big mama should be close behind.
Wow Bert, nice catch!
