Once again its that time here finally & this thread will contain the entirety of reports within my 2015 Season as before.
Our inland lakes don’t open until May 9th so Mr P & I headed out to the Mississippi backwaters last weekend.
Well day 1 after setting up camp we hit the water a bit after 12:00. We get on the water and shove off and 2 things went south. 1st was I noticed my TM had no power, missing a couple gears and the power I had was like 2 speed, could hardly buck a fart in the wind. So I head back to the dock, grab tools, rip the TM head apart and all looks okay. I know what the issue is, speed controller failure once again.
Regardless I put it back together and head out, not going to quit and just do what I have to do to with limping along through the day.
2nd issue right off is the waters in the backwaters are EXTREMELY low, really it was mudmotor territory. If you didn’t have polarized glasses to navigate your way to find a few inches of more depth in spots just to get through, you were really going to have a bad time. Even at that, I can not count how many times him & I ran aground. Basically had to have the TM set high as hell where part of the prop was out of the water to get through these areas.
Seeing what were seeing, we know that under the water conditions we needed to find any deeper water and/or moving water to find fish. The vast majority, like 98% of the water was unfishable and/or unable to navigate.
Not to mention, rain came in right away and both of us in our haste to get on the water forgot to grab the rain gear out of the truck. So we got wet and a bit chilled on top of it all but conditions improved later on and the rain stopped.
As far as the fishing, one spot we found deeper water and got on some fish, then we found the other, moving water in a river channel and found them stacked. Not a lot of big class of fish this round but definitely numbers. Somewhere around 45+ fish with the biggest running 3.83#’s.
Even with all the adversity we faced we it was a successful day 1 of 2.
This was Day 2 at a different backwater. But before that because of my TM failure, we got up and had to run to a distant city that was over the hills & through the woods to get me a new Trolling motor. Which even though it was a hassle, I’m glad my other failed as I had the older style click in to gears 1-5. The new variable speed Endura’s also come with the digital maximizers
So after that, we show up to find out there is a 70 boat bass tourney going on in this part of the sippi river as well. Another adversity situation we had to contend with besides all the other general fishers in this backwater river channel as it was a chain of boats for awhile with everyone working up & down the banks. Before we had arrived, during and after this river channel was being worked over hard.
We were able to get away from the masses eventually since our vessels can get into skinnier water. Not big numbers here as the day before, combined we got 16 largies and X amount of bowfin & some pike of course. hella bowfin back in them waters...
1 bowfin got me so wrapped up on a submerged tree, I mean it wrapped-wrapped me up bad. No way no how was that fish or me untangling that mess underwater. I spent awhile fartin around with that fish but thank goodness for flippin sticks and 65# braid. I luckily was able to power that tree up and grab it. I got the fish released, line unwrapped and I was back in business. No doubt the worst wrap up I’ve ever had.
After we got out of the backwater river channel we ran into the same foot deep low water situation but I knew there was some deeper water in spots in this back area that I’ve been before. So we struggled, ran agound many times again and slowly navigated the low water stump field to get to those areas and picked up some fish there.
The overall size class of fish were smaller than other times in both backwaters but those other times didn’t have this crazy low water conditions either. In the last few years I’ve been to these particular backwaters, I’ve not seen conditions so painfully low before.
It was no doubt an awesome trip both days even with all the adversity we faced. Sometimes the adversity is what makes it more memorable, especially when you overcome it and still succeed.
Nice Job Guys -
Really Great to see you back at it.
Definitely worked hard for them but you got some nice ones
Congrats

Appreciate it A!! gonna be a much better season this round

holy go 2 war, what did it weigh. looks larger than a football?
it was 3.83#'s, decent fish for in these backwaters...
Great start Darryl! You and Mr. P laid the smackdown on those backwaters. Glad to see this thread back. Looking forward to your froggin and punching this season!
thanks my friend, its definitely gonna be ON this season
Those are some chunks,god job!
Went out today for Minnesota's 1st ever early season C&R opener. They opened C&R for bass to coincide with eye and pike opener. So I can target them 2 weeks earlier then before.
It was actually a tougher day out there for me than i expected. 2 things hampered me, filamentous algae all over coating most of he bottom, in the water column and stuck on veg. Curly pondweed was thick and takes over areas, tough to fish that crap as thick as it gets, just chokes out areas bad. Probably the worst of it was the algae, made throwing the jig very limited since it gets wrapped up like a mummy once it hits the bottom. the largies were in spawn out there and seen many BIG brute females around beds today, i'll have a date with them another day when they are done...
But all is good as it was a beaut if a day and was pure sweetness to float one of my lakes again after the long freeze. To top it off for my 2015 inland lake opener/1st C&R season I also managed to get my 1st 4+ pounder @ 4.14#'s to start it off with (1st pic below)...one of the other fish weighed up 3.99#'s...
Another great day! Way to go on the 4+.
Really Nice FATTIES ~
Congrats
But the way, we both say the same thing when we miss one . . . .
A-Jay
Beautiful chunks of piscatorial goodness!
Nice work, Frog!
It's time again for the adventures of Frog Turd and Mr. P! Hey Darryl, I hit the early opener up north in MN and had a great day catching 27 largies! Mostly males guarding fry. I couldn't believe they were already guarding but I saw fry swimming about. I hit a small lake on purpose hoping they would be more active since it warms up quicker. No 4 pounders for me but I'm no Frog Turd! I did get a 3.5 pounder though so I'm getting there. Thanks again for your vids!
Great start to the year, Mr. Turds.
Awesome to see you at it Darryl! I wish nothing but the best for you this season and I'll be watching it unfold on here.
I appreciate all the good words fella's!!
I was out yesterday, tough conditions with blue birdie skies and very glassy...my waters are still quite clear as well and the usual exorcist pea soup isn't in effect yet...I picked up 15 fish with the big fish of the day @ 5.31#'s on the jig...
Seems you made the best of the "tough" conditions!
Jeff
By the way, is the jig you are using a A-Jay jig/punch rig setup?
Jeff
Great start to a new piggy season.
Nice Darryl! Way to break the 5# mark. On to the 6's!

Jeff
no, actually its an Outkast RTX jig...been using the Outkast jigs forever and switched from the RT to the RTX that has a heavier 5/0 mustad meathook on it...the RT's i would bend them in time, especially setting the hook on them pesky log bass...
Ahhh. The dreaded log bass. Haha. That vegetation looks like it is calling the A-Jay jig! Completely weedless setup!
Jeff
Very Nice Job my Friend ~
And thank you very much for the dedication . . . .
I definitely needed the motivation.
Congrats

btw - You're routinely working some real magic with that Outkast RTX jig - totally dialed in.
I wouldn't change a thing . . . .
A-Jay
AJ, Man I'd be lost on the water without my Outkast jig aka ugly pig combo, it never comes off my pitchin stick it has one of the best heads for grass on a jig imo...
Real crappy rainy weekend & was bored...so since i haven't cleared the card of my last outing, i took a bunch of short clips of skipping a swimjig up under willows and into woods etc...its only a a 57 second vid with a bunch of skips...
Mad skills brotha. Mad skills
thanks brudda!! may be light for some but I use the 733c for it, it just loads right for me...
was out yesterday, windy and cold, felt like i was fall bassin...anyways 25 fish with a handful of those pikies...no special fish but good numbers and some decent fish to make it a good time (besides the wind & cold)...this lake isn't a big fish lake...but its a lake that has a good population of 2-upper 3#ers...normally its one of my just punch lakes when heavy cover is in its full glory...

Nice work my friend ~

was out yesterday on a different lake, this one is the opposite of the last lake, quality vs quantity...this lake produces alot of big fish consistently...managed 11 fish with big fish of the day @ 3.84#'s and a couple more over 3 and a few just under that...had my 1 and only chance at a real brute at the very end of my outing heading in fishing a cattail island i always hit at the end when i'm there...but she did a head shake and threw my jig, did get a good look at her and she was a beast...glad it was at the end of my outing vs the beginning...otherwise she might have stole my soul for the day lol not the first time my day ended exactly the same here...
and Mr Grumpy;
Another solid day bud. You'll get back at Mrs. pigglet on the next trip. I can feel a biggin coming here real soon.
Yet Another quality fish filled outing ~ You're starting to Rack them up . . .
Congrats
A-Jay
Those are some hungry MN greenies. Nice job again!
Darryl,
I was out on the 31st north of you and it was cold! I like the "Mr. Grumpy" moniker. Fits perfectly. Those irritating toothies are the reason I don't spend $20 plus on lures.
Keep up the good work! When I get off the water with 10 fish and see you hit similar waters on the same day and caught way more, it keeps me humble (that's a good thing).
My buddy Mr P and I were toon'n yesterday and we got somewhere around 28 fish or so...nice to be at a place not over run with curly pond weed...but it is starting to die back now and forming floating mats...when it dies back and mats up then im fine with it because its punchable as there were x amount of punch fish we got out of it...theres a spot in the vid where i set the hook and bout set the hook my @ss right off the toon lol
outing from yesterday, first bass was off of the spro king daddy, now thats a frog you can throw to another zip code...
Good work yet again. Nice to see froggin season is back. Good punch fish too, fiesty buggers
Nice video man! Looks like an awesome place to fish!
heres a short vid from today, picked up 8 but couple of fish didn't make it to vid, gotta have atleast 1 i forget to turn the camera on for lol...had to get off for awhile due to thunderstorms today...isn't a lake i prefer but with passing storms i went to the closest and smallest that i knew i could get off fast if needed, like i had to...but i struggled at this place until i put on a horny toad at the end of the outing...then i picked of 4 fish and missed a few in a short span...haven't thrown them in years but my gut said to put one on and it was on after that, nice last hurrah to end the day...maybe could of been a better day if i had switched much earlier on..
.
was out yesterday, got 7 fish but most all were better quality fish...i started off throwin a couple different things but when I got to an area with pads & slop I decided to throw The Big Ol' Frog Turd Spro King Daddy...the first fish I picked up on it was a 3.32#er, then i picked up another @ 3.04#'s...so then i said to myself since I got 2 over 3 on it, my mission & goal for today was to get a limit over 3#'s on the King Daddy...
but I had 4 fish over 3 and needed one more and the clock was ticking down, my day was coming to a close...I worked over the high potential spots hard and had only one area i felt i could get that last 3+fish...so i headed over there, first couple casts and WHAM a 3.08#er...that was the one & only fish in that area and my last fish of the day...I went 5 for 5 over 3 on the King Daddy =)
Top 5 were 3.50#'s, 3.48, 3.32, 3.08 & 3.04#'s = a 16.42# froggin bag =)
p.s If your still on here AK-Jax, I dedicate these to you
Love all the detailed updates and pics/vids, FT! Looks like you're having a great season so far. My wife and I have a cabin on a lake in the Park Rapids, MN area, so I do almost all of my fishing on just one lake. Season bests so far are 3lb 14oz LM and 3lb 11oz Smallie. Looking forward to your next update!
Much appreciated Watterboy!!...I'm well south of park rapids, beautiful area up where you cabin is though
was out today, mostly smaller fish and a pile of pikies...boy they were on a terror and amazingly i didn't lose one bait...but managed a couple of largies that weighed over 3#'s...
Was out yesterday doing some punchin, froggin & lil horny toad'n...Picked up 14 fish with Top 5 bag = 5.07#'s, 4.78, 4.01, 3.81, 3.10#'s...Big Fish was on the King Daddy speed froggin it...I would throw it out, crank it fast in varying short spurts and then pause, nailed it on the pause...besides the 5er all the rest in the top 5 were punch fish, then a couple came off a horny toad...
In the beginning and last 2 fish at the end I was punchin these big floating cattail islands/bogs you will see...these broke loose last season and washed up in various spots on the north shore...Atleast out towards the middle/ends of these there is alot of space/water under them, not rooted...the DNR here have them anchored in place with ropes...there's floating dead curly pond weed in spots along the outside edges of these and thats what I was mainly punchin...in some spots there would be holes back a little from the edge but not many, these are thick solid bogs that you could literally walk on...
Nice slob buddy! You've been busy!
Awesome fish Frog man! Great to see you getting after those hogs
this first one was from 7/2/15 lil punchin in the beginning...no bigguns but picked up 14 fish...this lake has went through some changes the last couple years, not for the better like alot of my heavy cover lakes...areas that i knew/leaned where the big girls set up shop no longer exist or not the prime real estate they once were and nobody home...
this one of from the 7/8//15 and 13 fish this round with some better quality...
Way to dominate D! Awesome salad bass!
Nice Work ~
And way to Dive into the Nuclear Flora to excavate that bass . . .

cudda shudda been a 5#er for all that huffin & puffin diggin his @ss out I was a bit reluctant to reach in and play wishing well not knowing if it were a bass, pike or bowfin until i could verify...

I know that feeling well - did it today. Turned out to be a dink living in a stump.
A-Jay
was out yesterday and found a nice little money spot...a wetland that borders this lake so when the water is a bit higher will spill into the lake...its a very small spot as you can see in the pic with a little bit of water flowing on either side of that rock...thats all it is, which is seemingly minimal & somewhat in significant...the water is all of 1-2ft deep max and less with a little bit of hard bottom/gravel...
well I picked up 26 fish yesterday, all but 2 were largies with my top 5 bag weighing in all over 3#'s...16 of the fish were over 2.5#'s and i think about 20 of the total for the day were all caught in this small spot...they were stacked, not to mention the half a dozen or more i missed as well...i hit the spot in the beginning then left with plans to hit it at the end of my outing knowing new fish would have moved in & the spot would be recharged, which it was
there was a fish smacking bait just on the other side of that rock on the wetland side...i tried pitchin my bait over it a couple times hoping I could get it and bring it on over, be cool vid material but the fish whatever it was wouldn't hit it...
Solid day out there! That's one to remember D. Way to go!
was out yesterday and managed just 6 fish with one being a big @ss yellow bullhead i got punchin...atleast the 5 largies I did get were all limit fish for only toonin 5 of 5 for the day = 4.87#'s, 3.76, 3.65, 2.93 & 2.51#'s...
the 4.87# was caught in a very small shallow outlet crick that i casted down into, its maybe a foot deep at most and less right there...just out of view on the left side and where i got her the cattails pinch that crick to about 2ft wide...
the punch bullhead lol
Way to throw back on that slop monster at the end. Most would have just kept on moving
Some nice solid brutes there. Good job!
Yeoman like work right there Sir ~
Some don't have much confidence in that kind of wind (Might not even go out) - especially in a smaller vessel, but you prove trip after bass filled trip, that when you're willing to put in the time & "Go In after them" there's Great bass to be had.
And the spot that the big fish of the day came from was just Too Classic.
Congrats
A-Jay

I was doubting it was gonna hit though after a bit of doing more yoyo's then i usually would...can't see/tell in the vid but on the last yoyo when i dropped the rod tip an the rig stopped mid drop, thats when i knew i had her...if not paying attention to that line i could have very well of missed her cause i felt nothing, only seen the line stop dead mid fall...
appreciate it A!! it was overtime for those 5 but i'll take those 5 over 20 2#ers anyday...i sure couldn't get any to bite consistently in any one area so it was a stick & move, stick & move kinda day...it was a wet ride crossin the main lake when i had to, got worse as the day progressed with big chop & whitecaps...
those little cricks can surprise ya sometimes...theres one on a small lake i used to fish and walk up the bank until the no trespassing signs went up...could jump across it with a running start...but it had a little more depth, some duckweed on top, a bit of wood in it with tall grass along the sides & would pull hogs out of it...
Nice work man. I like how you stuck with that last one and got her to eat. Way to stay committed!
thanks brandon!! it was gettin to the end of the day, clock was ticking down, i still needed that 5th limit fish and not giving up panned out this round...
was out yesterday bobbin 4 bass, it was windy as all hell for the most part of the day till i went to the windward side...23 fish day, top 5 bag all over 3#'s = 4.43#'s, 3.72, 3.61, 3.13, 3.02#'s...top 10 all over 2.5#'s...
Got some toads dude! Nicely done....again!
Way to Start out the Month Dude ~
Those are some real Stout & Healthy Looking donkeys . . .
A-Jay
Thanks Mark & A-Jay!! they were fat A, most all had real porky bellies, was giving me that fall feed bag kinda feeling
i was out yesterday got 10 fish but ended my outing early due to my p!ss poor mood, not a good day for me...I was mentally geared for a different lake, doing different things but the forecast changed and thunderstorms were to move in earlier than expected with potentially severe storms...so at the last minute as i was driving i aborted my planned mission and ended up at the last lake i was just at...its the closest one to me, otherwise its a fair drive to the others to just have to turn around and head back etc...which if the forecast did what it said, that would of had a high probability of happening...
well the thunderstorms never materialized early except a few drips and i could of went where i originally planned/wanted to go which of course that kept playing over & over in my mind...i tried to shake it off but my crap attitude was there to stay...probably the only time i can recollect that i called it a day because i was just irritated as hell...all i was doing out there was going through the motions of bassin, not into it at all & mentally off...i realize i shouldn't of had the attitude because "hey atleast i'm on the water fishin and it could be winter blah blah blah"...but it is what it was and nothing i could do yesterday was changing that fact...
i did get my 5 fish limit worth even so and a decent girl that was just shy of 4 @ 3.90#'s before packing it up...
Despite the "Funk" you were in, some nice ones came to boat.
Congrats
And here's to hoping you leave that craploa at home next time you head out . . .
A-Jay
Thanks A, it was a fluke funk, no pun intended...i'll be back on track the next round
Next time you'll be rewarded with a 6# donkey. It's coming!
gonna hold you to that Mark
was out yesterday & picked up 10 fish with big fish of the day, a punch fish @ 5.02#'s...i don't hit this spot too often because the whole spot revolves around this group of giant pads 99%...unless in early spring & ya time it right then theres one adjacent spot you can pick up some good ones if you catch them in there...
these giant pads you see are typically found in the mississippi river back water areas in my neck of the woods etc...this is the only lake & spot i know of in my whole area that has these...for those that have never seen them or have them in their area, these things are monstrous and like trash can lids on the water...i'll post some pics to illustrate the size...unfortunately though that the majority of these pads are in super shallow stagnant water, where i caught the fish was in the only deeper section with water flow and still not that deep at all by any means...
for perspective, that largie was 3.13#'s & that pad was even a bit folded to show how huge these things are...
koppers frog on a pad
they grow feet high off the water...
p.s Mark you were off by a pound but i'll still take it
Those pads are huge. Never seen them that big. Good work my man!
Way to put it to'em ~
And nice 5'er right there Congrats ~

thanks dude!! they are a lotus (Nelumbo Lutea/American Lotus) but this is the only spot in an inland lake i've ever seen them...but very common in the sippi backwaters, they are crazy big lol i wanted to pull one out of the thickest jungle of them but like i mentioned where they were the thickest was also where the water was the skinniest and stagnant...i should of went earlier in the season when the water was up around here from all the rain...

You should just walk across them D, and you can do some vertical jigging with that 1.5 oz lead bowling ball on your line.

pfft, 1.5ers are for pannie fishin, remember i chuck 2oz'ers so i can punch to middle earth, SON!!
was out yesterday and i was in hurry up offense mode since there were thunderstorms threatening, made it 5.5hrs before gettin rained off...no time to fart around too much as I could see the rain off in the distance the whole time and not sure when it was going to reach me, so it was pretty much pop pop docks and move...picked up 23 fish with top 5 bag = 3.39#'s, 3.35, 3.32, 3.24 & 2.95#'s...
Decent Haul ~
We're getting your rain the next few days . . .
Thanks

I have yet to get out for almost 30 days now... and not
because of heat. Life got in the way

I'm very sorry to hear that you're currently in an apparent tough situation. Hope it gets better soon and you're able to get out on the water.
But how can I say this so you'll completely comprehend the intended sentiment . . . .
I'm going to go with . . . NO. That really does cover it.

Fully expected a reply as such. In tennis, you'd have
achieved a Sampras Slam Dunk.
I'd just watch the ball vault over my head in awe....

Nice ~ Made me laugh.
Thanks.
Hang in there my friend, with any luck you'll have serious bass thumb soon enough.

Serious bass thumb. Much needed. Guitar finger callouses
are gone, and thumb's are way too smooth. Not manly!!

Hope things turn around for ya soon Darren...last season was my year for "life getting in the way", it sucked...

Thanks!
Unfortunately (probably too harsh a word), soccer season has
begun again. 3 of my 4 boys are on travel teams, practices in
different locales 3x per week. My wife and I are "sacrificing" our
gas mileage and sanity yet again! But we really do love watching
them play.
If the weather permits, at two practice locations, I might be able
to get in at a small pond on the premises. That should help a little.
Other than that, I'll have to force my way out the door and onto my
favorite reservoir before I lose my mind! LOL. My wife will eventually
kick me out the door to go fishing... I've crossed several things off
the "Honey-Do" list.
well i went out today for awhile but it was tough going...you wouldn't know it by the kitty vid parts which was in the very beginning on the windward end but that wind started rippin a bit later, like 20-30 with gusts possibly more, huge roller white cap crap chop, Bering Sea bad lol...i should of took vid when i was going along the leeward end, woo wee it was rough...i'm sure anyone that saw me thought i was totally off my rocker being out there on my toon lol
it was only in the low 60's but under 60 with windchill...i got soaked from the chop besides rained on & chilled...the areas/docks i wanted to fish were completely impossible...i did what i could where i could and picked up around a dozen fish but nothing really worth making a whole vid of besides the kitties...
the kitties were a nice treat for me & made the trip worth it...first one was 6.17#'s and the second was 7.04#'s, they sure felt good on the 3 power stick...
Shaweet ~ !
Dem dern Wiska-Bass sure do pull purdy good.
A-Jay
sure'nuff do...silly kitties trix are for kids....
I was out yesterday, got a real late start after noon and of course another 10-20mph winds...i swear the wind this season has just been perpetually higher, a rarity are the 5-10 mph's days...I struggled most of the day and picked up 9 fish...atleast i was able to get my top 5 bag all over 3 pounds = 4.07#'s, 3.96, 3.79, 3.61 & 3.32#'s...
it was a day i refused to quit moreso than others and was on a mission to get that last limit fish over 3#'s...i had 4 fish over 3 at the end of the day & i mean end of the day as it was gettin dark and sun was down...i had & lost 2 others within the hour before, easily over 3 which one was a true beast i lost on the king daddy...that fish was beastly enough that instead grunt out of me when i set the hook, it was a "holy eff" hookset lol
suns down and i don't have much time at all before total black out, launch is in view & i'm speed bassin spots trying to pull that last 3 out of my @ss...so i'm just slow motoring and chuckin the King Daddy when a 3.61# blows up on it and comes aboard, that was a wrap SON!!
Good to see Linda Blair barfed up lunch at that lake. Nice work as always.
I'll definitely have to give that stinger a go Mr A, thx!!

thanks brother, i love that big turd of a frog
was out yestererday & was only able to toon 6 fish but got the 5 limit fish that mattered to me...top 5 all over 3#'s = 3.70#, 3.50, 3.46, 3.32 & 3.02#'s...it was basically a repeat scenario of my last outing in which i had 4 fish over 3 as the day was coming to a close & was working hard to get that last limit 3'er...my 5th fish at that point was 2.99#'s of all things haha...so i was speed bassin spots on my way back to the launch and my final fish of the day & last 3'er needed came in @ 3.46#'s...
I used that stinger yesterday Mr A...with how it sits and being smaller it doesn't get hung up really what so ever besides an occasional piece of grass or bit of slop...but nothing negative that would make my not use it at this point. so it will stay on & be tested more...that largie i got on the frog yesterday had one hook of the king in it and was pegged with the stinger...obviously can't say it saved me the fish or not but just pointing out that it functioned as intended...
Good stuff D. Im going up this weekend Sat-Mon. Hopefully i have some fish to show for.
glad to hear you got a trip planned my friend!! and there WILL be fish to show for, SON!!
Its for my bachelor party soooooo it might not be the most productive fishing. On 8/31/2015 at 12:08 AM, Frog Turds said:glad to hear you got a trip planned my friend!! and there WILL be fish to show for, SON!!
Nice Limit right there ~
And glad to hear that tail hook worked for you.
Congrats

was out on Labor day, not really by choice per se since it was simply the day i had available...i like NEVER fish holidays & avoid them like the plague, cuz if its nice you know theres gonna be hella traffic on the water as there indeed was...but i had to scratch the itch as its been over a week since last time...picked up 8 fish but nothing really special...i was on a big fish lake but i couldn't find the brutes yesterday...
Some Very Decent Labor Day Bass ~
As the days grow shorter and that water cools
You'll start sticking the pigs we all love to get.
btw that one almost jumped right into your lap ~
A-Jay
Thanks A!! ya last week we had the most brutally hot & humid week this season...but change is around the corner now though, some leaves beginning to turn, eel grass dying back & floating, cooler temps on the way & overnights etc...fall feed baggin is a knock knock knockin on the door, gonna get out every chance i get and beat'em up!!
serious fatties there.....
was out yesterday and picked up 13 fish with big fish @ 4.67#'s...one of those days my bag shudda cudda wudda been much better but lost 2 important fish...besides my 5 limit fish worth, the rest were comprised of barely keepers & shorts/dinks...for the most part the day was glass with pretty much blue bird skies...thank goodness atleast my exorcist waters are pea soup
i got to learn not to keep my baits at the rod tips when not in use & keep them hooked on the keepers...yesterday with the big fish at the end of the vid is the 4th or 5th time i've had my line get caught up in one of the baits...gonna get a rod broke or go overboard one of these times like a dummy...
Nice Bass ~
And that is Some Seriously Green Gak Water you fish.
Congrats
A-Jay
was out today and didn't know there was a bass tourney going on the lake i picked to hit, which put a bit of a damper on things...gonna see if i can find the results of the tourney and see how i fared compared just for kicks....but heres a bag limit of punch fish = 4.40#'s, 3.65, 3.39, 2.97 & 2.93#'s...
4.40# below
That's a Great Bag of Bass D ~
I bet you would have at least been in the running with those stout speciemens.
Besides the killer fishing, a couple of things I always note in your videos, first is how close you are able to get to your fish.
Clearly a tribute to your vessel selection and over all high level of stealth.
Second thing is - that 4 pound dumbbell of a tungsten bullet weight you routinely use ~ It's a Corker.
I'm heading out myself right now - thanks for the inspiration.
A-Jay
nice work as always my man. Good chunky bass there.
QuoteSecond thing is - that 4 pound dumbbell of a tungsten bullet weight you routinely use ~ It's a Corker.
was out yesterday & picked up 18 fish...most jig fish with a few crankin and one on a chatter...
was out yesterday with Mr P...we both had a solid day out there...each of our top 5 bag limit fish were all over 3#'s...we always compete for big fish honors and he eeked me out with a 4.34#er to my 4.21#er...but as they say, close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades...i almost had top 10 all over 3#'s, 9 were over and 1 was just shy at 2.95#'s...my top 5 went 4.21, 3.70, 3.52, 3.41 & 3.26#'s...
Mr P with his big fish of the day...
was out yesterday and it was a good and an off day for me, 10 fish day...i had a real opportunity to have one of them true special monster bag limit days and for whatever reason i couldn't keep the d@mn beasties pegged...after losing several brutes my attitude stunk after that, just how it goes with me...i'm a passionate basser so when i lose the 1st, then the 2nd, then the 3rd big fish, not just good fish but big fish etc...i get p!ssed off and fish p!ssed off the rest of the day after that...the good is that atleast a couple made it on board...
then i threw a blooper on the end of the vid that happened towards the latter part of the outing and just goes with the day i was having...i go to make a pitch and total brain fart something or another as i make a pitch and i pitched my d@mn stick right into the drink like a dummy lol never in my life have i done it before, i was like what the hell man haha
this 5.37#er was a real beaut of a brute northern strain the way i like'em, love it when they are built like compact thick tanks like this fish...
the 4.49#er
Couple of Mogan Bass Right There ~
Congrats
A-Jay
That beauty was eating good. winter is coming my friend. nice to see you on quality pigs.
Get a wrist strap for when you're pitching next lol
Hey, is Mr. P standing in a SeaEagle inflatable? If so we used one for years fishing North GA rivers/ponds/lakes. Absolutely loved it. We had hard floors, bimini-top, seats, troll motor, everything.
It tore several years ago, now I am looking at SeaEagles's new one person fishing raft.
BTW - great fish, must of been a lot of fun.
ya he has the sea eagle frameless toon...believe he is on his 4th year floatin it, its been a great vessel for him...
Was out yesterday, 14 fish day with top 5 all over 4 pounds & top 10 all 3.5 and better with a 6.12# big fish of the day with a 23.03# bag, SON!!...Top 10 = 6.12#, 4.51, 4.32, 4.07, 4.01, 3.92, 3.92, 3.76, 3.61 & 3.50#...
One of those days when i had gotten my 3rd fish over 4 my goal for the day turned to getting my top 5 over 4# individual fish, not average...once i got the 4th over 4 i was working hard as hell to get that 5th...i get one fish i thought was 4, put it on the scale and was 3.92, d@mmit...then i get the next i thought was a 4 and had my 5th and no kidding it weighed up the same 3.92# and was like you gotta be schittin me right...my day is really winding down at this point...
an all too familiar scenario with me, with again the day is coming to a close, sun was setting & the clock is running out fast...i'm heading back in with the launch in view and had one stretch left to try to get that last 4#er...a stretch i already worked over in the beginning and a spot that i couldn't pick one up earlier when i hit it either...its a bunch of old laydowns submerged together...toss a swimjig with a 4.5" swimbait trailer, i hit an overhanging tree branch, pop it free, hits the water, get a crank or two in and bam i get that 6.12#'er...made for my 5th over 4 & my last fish of the day once again...then murphy's law hit as i was reeling her in the gopro battery died lol
Wow ~ !
Superior Fall Bassing my friend.
And that last one was a Real Mogan.
Congrats
A-Jay
Bravo buddy. That's a fall feed bag right there. Nice work yet again
appreciate it fella's!! gonna be tough to top that this fall but i'll keep swinging till that dreaded hard water sets in...bout a month left give or take pending weather...
was out yesterday, 13 fish and had a big first for me...I caught the same 6er that i caught on the 14th, it was just a tad fatter at 6.30#'s vs 6.12#'s...caught it on the same bait in the same spot...don't know how that fish got to be a sixer lettin itself be caught twice in less than a weeks time lol I don't really count it as catching two 6ers this season since it was the same fish but whats awesome is that the1st time i caught her my gopro battery died reeling her in etc..well this time i got my season sizer catch all on vid...
Top 5 bag for the day = 6.30#, 4.01, 3.83, 3.79, 3.50#'s for a 21.43# bag...
1st time on the 14th the sixer
same 6er from yesterday
Sweet ~
That's pretty wild getting that toad a second time is such short order.
And looks like you finally got a break in the overly windy weather - seemed like a comfortable day out on the water - for a change.
Congrats
A-Jay
many thanks A!! very crazy doubling up on that fish, guess Murphy's Law felt sorry for me when my battery puked the first time round ya it was a beaut of a day for sure, almost too nice & glassy out there for me but it was a good day, no complaints...plus i got to break in my new Dobyns 734c properly that i got last saturday as well, all fish in the vid were on it throwin a swimjig/swimbait, nice stick...
Congrats to you for such a great fall season. You are definitely on a roll.
appreciate it Dwight, thanks man!!
I have not read every post but i am just wondering if there is a reason you have almost every fish with the mouth wrenched open?
its not as it seems, fish are not harmed and not wrenched as you may believe & always supported by my other hand...how about you watch your own bobber dude, peace
You the man Frog Turds!! Love seeing those big girls in the fall
