what weight line does it come with? Do you know if 12lb will work on it?
Answer: It comes with 100 yds. of KK 10# Mono and it works great for my son. I don't see why not, but I would'nt put more than 80 yds. of 12# Mono on.

Answer: The one I ordered can with 10lb line but I returned it. The blue top half of the reel kept popping off during cast. Only had it 11 days.

Can this be used with braded line
Answer: I have never tried braided line on a spin cast reel and I wouldn’t recommend it. Braided line will perform much better on a bait casting reel. Braided line doesn’t have any inherent “springiness” to it which the closed face reel needs to perform at it’s best.

Answer: This reel was a piece of junk... Did not work for one complete outing. If you haven't used it yet return it for something else. I can not recommend a pole because it wouldn't matter with this reel.
Answer: I think a 5ft. bait casting rod would be adequate. If you can find a two piece or telescopic one, even better. Good luck.

He has been fishing with it since it came in and has caught a quiet a few fish so far. Works great! I have purchased a lot of KastKing products in the past 3 years and take part in the VOA (voice of angler) program. This reel was given to me for free. When I saw the email saying they were introducing this I was excited. I have 2 boys 6 & 3 and they love fishing with dad. I set this reel on my younger sons rod and went to the lake. Wow! I've never had/seen a spincaster cast that far. Every cast was perfect no line binding up in the spool or any of the other issues that I'd had with his other spincasters. And the drag actually works! He landed this SLAB bluegill on our 2nd trip out with this set up. Now that my youngest has this my oldest wants one lol and I'm happy to get him one after seeing how it preformed heck I may even get myself the Brutus. All and all if you're in the market for a spincaster then this is the one you should be buying hands down.

I needed something lightweight for fishing from my kayak. I bought a pair of these and went fishing pretty much every weekend with them. They both made it just two months before they felt like a couple of coffee grinders and could not be reeled anymore. They started out great but they definitely can’t handle casting and reeling for hours on end. They would be OK on a kids fishing pole, or something set up for a slip bobber that you don’t have to cast and reel constantly.

I thought maybe he pushed the button release too hard but turns out that the liner bushing and front cover trim we not glued together very well or at all. First Kastking reel I have purchased and unless they make it right it will be the last!

Kast King out did themselves with this reel. Not only is this a great looking reel but the quailty of the reel is high end. No cheap parts or components and won't break the wallet. The cast distance of this reel is insane. I fish weekly and it has not failed me once. Everyone I have fished with since I bought it has asked me about and most have purchased one (you're welcome KastKing, free advertising). The only negative is a prespooled line. It seems to be a low grade line and is easy to break. Put new line on and this thing is awesome! Now, if KastKing will just make this same reel for salt water with a larger spool to hold more line and 30lb test THAT WOULD BE AWESOME and I will take 4 (I'm waiting patiently KastKing).

This reel was used by an 8 year old fishing for Walleye. We used the bobber and leach technique. He did well with casting our from the boat and then occasionally checking bait. A few suggestions on how to work the reel and he was off to the races. This is a super easy way to introduce fishing to a young person.
