Answer: I use mine as much as I can and I love it. I’m in San Diego so I try to fish everyday if I can.

whats the line rating ?

Answer: I recp 30 to 65# braid. I use 30, and it holds at least 300 yds. Either is plenty for big bass. As a rule of thumb, old school measures apply... 200+yds of 20# mono is plenty. That said, go with 50# is you fish places like the cape cod canal, else 30 for open beaches.

Mostly caught perch , spot , and catfish .... but have caught some stripers ! Its a tough reel ! I cant promise itll hold up to a ton of big ole stripers , but im willing to guess it would ! Its really a great reel ! It casts soooo nice !

Answer: Yes you can but why would you? The round ava handle works great with this reel. But I do prefer round over other shapes for handles. I replaced the standard handles on my VanStaals and Penn 706Z with round. Neither offered an Ava choice though.

Answer: Yes, this reel should be a perfect match for that purpose. I also use this same exact reel on a 10'6'' Daiwa SP Coastal surf rod rated for 4 oz. at the Cape Cod Canal. Overall, it's a fairly light setup but it holds up very well. And I can't wait to use again when I go up to the Canal this weekend!

Answer: This is a salt water reel. I took a 32 pound Dorado with no problems with 20lb. test. The reel only holds a couple hundred yards of line so is limited that way. The reel is smooth and good quality for the price.

Answer: After a short time fishing with it one of the clips that holds the bail on fell off and the bail came apart. The pin that the clip came off of is not long enough and the clip will not stay on it. I recommend not purchasing one.

Reel handle cap stud was cross threaded in so it striped out where you screw in the Handel then it shows it coming with an oversized reel handle and it didn’t also was supposed to come with 200 yards of 20 braid and it didn’t so a total fail!!

Khoa Tran : Overall a solid reel, but has some weak components that will fail.

Reel handles quality fish well and lasted through an entire season of heavy pier fishing, but there are two components that are fragile and will end up failing. First is the drag cap. The audible clicker while adjusting the drag is fragile and will eventually fail. I adjust my drag a lot pier fishing, but still the clicker should not fail as easily as it has. I’ve replaced the drag cap twice already. Second is the spool clicker. It doesn’t break, but its components pop loose easily and won’t make an audible click when a fish pulls drag. If you take the spool off, you can fix it once you see how it works, but it’s just annoying. Other than that, it’d be a perfect reel for the price.

This is 1 of my best bets for wading the surf, it has been dunked numerous times & still work like new. The bail can flip over once in a while , while casting, which with your attention can be minimized. Not for reeling under water, they say.

I bought a 5000 and a 6000, I was cheered to find out what were these reels capable of. When I received them I immediatelly notice some minor exterior details. Just to be clear, I recently bought 3 Quantum Reliance PT and they had not even one cosmetic detail. The Tsunami Shield in one part of the frame was not right adjusted, and after a normal use in almost 2 years I can see damage in the paint, is crackling all up. For the price is not a bad reel, but certainly is not the best, I would rather get some Daiwa BGs or a Quantum Reliance PT (with the reserve that I have a few weeks with them).

Good looking reel and the water protection is really good, since I fished it on kayak, I can tell you that! But its drag is weird. I have 4K and 5k, they both have same weird drag. The drag has NO sweet spot. Every time you pull the line out, it will give you a different drag setting. Tsunami need to fix that ASAP. Other than that it’s got crazy seals!!

The C clip that holds the bail pin in came off while I was fishing, when I replaced the C clip I found the washer for that part was to thick and would not allow the C clip to secure the pin.

I own a 6000 and 4000. I have fished the 6000 from the surf pretty heavy for over a year. It is still like new and I hardly ever rinse after use. There is also bail-less conversion kit available. The 4000 has also been great. Huge fan of these reels.
