Answer: Yes, right-handed conventional reel. I purchased two from Amazon...both TLD 25 (I have owned 9 other TLD). I did have to return one for replacement since gears were binding and reeling was not smooth when I filled the reel with line. Therefore, inspect the product when it is still within the return window.

Is the 15 and 20 size good for casting bait out in the surf?

Answer: I use the TLD15 for surf casting with excellent results. Just be sure you know how to thumb the spool to prevent backlashing, as there is no centrifugal breaking mechanism.

Answer: The TLDs, like most lever drag reels, are not great casting reels. Star drag reels like the Calcutta or ABU Garcia 7000 are much better for this. Even today I think the best reels for casting, for most people, are spinning reels

Answer: Yes. Keep your thumb on the spool while casting so it doesn't backlash and cause a birds nest on your spool.

Answer: Good question? I could not see the difference from plain TLD25 and it was not on Shimano site either? It is a good entry light use offshore reel and serves me for what it is. It is larger than expected and the 20 & 15 is suited for Kingfish size, so be sure to know what the targeted species is.

Answer: You can cast with this reel, but you will probably Regret it.

Answer: it can be cast if you are very skilled. Lever drag reels are generally not the easiest to cast. There are better reels for casting

Answer: Not the best casting reel. Better for trolling.

Answer: I can cast it pretty far without any problems. Just keep your thumb lightly on the spool and when your bait hits the water stop the spool with your thumb. Also make sure you cast with a slow sweeping motion instead of a whip cast. With practice you should be able to cast a good distance without any problem.
