Para cuando tendran disponible este carrete de 50lbd de nuevo?
Answer: Preguntarle a los fabricantes.
Q:
How many of these are available and how long is this price good for?
Answer: No telling how long the price is good for. But $199 is the lowest I've ever seen it so I snatched up two. As far as quantity I've noticed with amazon they usually let you know when there are limited stock remaining. But again at the $199 price no telling how long they will last
Q:
Is squall squ50svw penn reel a 2 speed
Answer: yes 50vsw 2 speed
Answer: Hi,
Answer: It is according to the product name.
Answer: Yes it is.
Answer: Yes it is.
Answer: Yes, it is.
Q:
Is that Right? The 50vsw for $272 and the 30vsw for $299 ?
Answer: Sounds like what I paid. Sometimes the cost is based off of the volume of sales. aka the 30vsw
Answer: Depends when your buying it and where it’s coming from.
Q:
Is there any known problems with these reels fishing big fish ?
Answer: I've been using mine for about 3 years, alone side of my older Penn 4.0's and 6.0's. I've never had any problem. But I do wash off of my reels with fresh water when I come in. One thing that is very good, the graphite frame will never corrode. However the aluminum spool will if you don't wash off the salt water.
Answer: We catch sharks up to 6 feet long with them and they perform flawless! Love that they are a 2 speed reel! Loaded mine with 600 plus yards of 80 lb mono. Probably will handle bigger fish as well!
Answer: The reels are designed for the stress of big fish. Set the drag correctly and clean after using it and you will have a feel that will last you a lifetime
Answer: I use this reel in South Florida and in the keys for trolling for wahoo dolphin kings ect.. and has done very well my fríend
Answer: Not that I know of it’s a solid reel.
Q:
Will this work with a #8-12 planar?
Q:

Answer: yes
Q:
Does this come in left handed ?
Q:
will this reel fit on the okiaya 30-80 lb rod?
Answer: I am not familiar with that rod. This is a big reel but the foot fits the reel seat of most of my heavier rods. I use it for trolling on my custom Calstar GF7544XH rod rated 50 to 100 pounds.
Answer: It should. Mines currently sitting on a pinnacle marine 30-80 rod
Answer: It will fit that rod but is a little on the large side. One size smaller is probably a better match. You may want to look at the SQL30vsw
Answer: Yes it will
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
What kind of rod for Penn squall lever drag 2
Answer: 6 ft 50 to 100 lb test roller guide rod
Answer: Suggest a stand up rod with good backbone! You can use that set up for just about anything including trolling or pier fishing. A great reel!!. I’m using two 50VSW for offshore trolling and they work great!
Answer: Mine are Okiaya Venom Pro. 80-130lb
Q:
Max drag weight?
Answer: http://www.pennfishing.com/penn-reels-conventional-reels-penn-squall/penn-squall-lever-drag-2-speed/1315420.html#start=2
Answer: The specs vary but in real use I'd say 35-40 lbs full spool tho you never really use max drag
Answer: Realisticly mine will lift about 40 lbs but the need is much lower unless you fish with a stationary pole like with commercial fishing. How long can you hold even 25 lbs in the air.
Answer: Around 40lb. Enough for a monster. You can see spec. in the page of Penn
Q:
Is this the squall 50 vsw? Seems strange for the -100 dollar price..
Answer: It looks like it is a 50 vsw, and that $217 would be a good deal. I bought mine March 1st 2015, and paid $260.47...
Answer: very good reel for that price, and works very well.
Answer: yes and its a good reel , i use it for shark fishing

Q:
how many yards of 100 lb. test mono will this reel hold? (Penn 50VSW)
Answer: Not sure, but several hundred yards...more than you should need.
Answer: About 400 yards or so, You would be better off putting on 100# braid for a backing , then topping it off with mono.. You would be able to have more line capacity.
Answer: Maybe 300 to 400 yards. You only get about 550 with 80#. I have 800+ yards of 120# braided on mine. Great reel, brought in a 7 foot bull shark with no problem.
Q:

Answer: Yes it should work. Recommend using 80/130 lbs braid.
Q:

Q:
por favor solicito o link da carretilha mod penn squal 60ldlh, ela é esquerda?
Q:
How well would 150# braid work? Thank you.
Answer: I have this reel but use 60# mono. I use it for tuna chunking off New Jersey. Not sure why you would need 150# braid on this reel. If you need the yardage filling with braid will do that for you.
Answer: I have 80 pound mono on mine but I believe braid would work fine on it also
Q:
Does this come with line?
Answer: It does not brother I put 80lb mono in it when I got it and was about 60.00 bucks worth of line ????
Answer: without
Answer: No
Q:

Q:
Can you you use this reel to bottom fish even though it says trolling
Answer: Definitely! What I do after i troll, I just put take out my trolling lure, pop in 6oz weight and leader with hook. Ready to bottom fish. I usually use it for AJ
Answer: I have the Squall 50. I use for bait fishing for tuna in NJ. You could use for bottom fishing as well for when a reel of this size may be needed. The two speed feature makes bringing in line faster while the torque of the low speed works nice to gather line on larger fish.
Answer: You certainly can. Most people i know prefer star draggs for bottom fishing. But you can certainly haul up big groupers with this. Just know braid is recommended.
Answer: Yes, it all depends on the sinker you use and the leader line. That’s what my husband use it for and he loves it, hope that helps.
Answer: Yes you can
Q:
Is it genuine?
Answer: Both of mine are very genuine. So yes they should be.
Answer: I have 2 of them and they are excellent reels. They hold 600 yards of 80 lb mono! Tons of drag! 2 speed is a plus!
Answer: Mine was. Retail over $350, and found for NEW under $250... warrenty and original boxes. All Good!
Answer: Yes off course
Answer: Yes, was pleasantly surprised. Great reel for the money!
Answer: Absolutely!
Answer: Same as their International except it s not gold colored
Q:
how much 150lb braid will this reel hold
Answer: 1500 yards of 100lb and a top shot of 130lb mono like 60 yards
Q:
Is it for left handed people
Answer: They make a left hand version in the 40 and the 60 size but not the 50.
Answer: OK, sorry, I looked it up and gave you the wrong info. The models they make in left-hand are the single speed. The 2 speed VSW reels are only right hand.
Answer: Some squall come in left hand reels but the 50 don't think it dose
Answer: yes it is for your strong handed .
Q:
What baitcasting combo do you recommend for distance casting for large fish 30-75 lbs?
Answer: This squall 50 is a big reel and it would take a well experienced angler to do long distance casting with it. I can get a bit over 50 yards out with mine.
Q:
Does is come with a rod clamp? If so can you attach a lanyard to it?
Answer: No rod clamp, what you see in the picture is what you get.
Answer: Mine did. Good reel for seaon one. See how it holds up. Suggest braid or aome 130 lb mono.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes and yes.
Q:
whats the best rod to pair with this reel?
Answer: I paired with a 6 ft Connley graphite trolling rod bent butt 50-100 I run 80lb mine through it and rollers on the rod hope I helped u out !!!
Answer: I have 2 of them on okiaya 160-200 pound class rods with 650 yards of 80 lb monofilament. It will haul in just about anything you want under 500 lbs. love the fact it’s a 2 speed reel. Great shark rods!
Answer: That’s a pretty loaded question... all depends where your fishing, what your fishing off of, what your for, and how much your willing to spend.
Q:
What does lever drag mean
Answer: Www.saltwaterfishing247.com and Go to "LEVER DRAG SYSTEMS", it will give you a better explanation.
Answer: The term lever drag refers to the mechanism used to set the drag on this reel. Most smaller reels have what is called a star drag system where you turn a star shaped wheel to adjust drag. I like the lever drag system as it is much easier to set. I have two of these reels and wouldn’t trade them!
Q:
Can I cast with this reel? Plan is to bank fish for sturgeon and need to be able to cast 50 to 80 yards.
Answer: It's possible I'd guess! I would not recommend it. These reels are designing for trolling. If it was me I would not use this reel for casting.
Answer: It is possible but not something very easy to do. I get 50 yards with mine at times but I use a 6 ft rod!
Answer: This is intended for trolling. It would be very hard to cast with this reel. When we put out line from this reel, we will "pull" it off the reel first...before putting it in the water. I would look at a Penn Spinning Reel for that type of fishing. Hope this helps...good luck!
Answer: This reel is not really intended for casting. You probably can but you'll need to do a lot a practice to get the right settings so it doesn't bird nest on you during a cast.
Answer: Nah, this is for trolling.
Answer: Yes, but not that far because of the weight. Hope This helps.
Answer: Not a chance
Q:
What color rod should be paired with this reel?
Answer: Pairing a rod and reel is not based on a color match. Each is chosen for a specific purpose and is paired to balance together. Line weight and fishing techniques must also be a consideration for proper performance.
Q:
Do you have left hand
Q:
Can i use a st. croix premier series spinning rod with this reel???
Answer: No, this is a salt water reel, its about 6lbs in weight and it holds 1000uds of 50lbs fishing line. Hope that helps!
Answer: Hi this Squall reel is a big and heavy reel for trolling
Q:
What is the max drag on the squall 50vsw
Answer: You are putting way too much math into this.
Answer: Looks like the max drag is 40lbs
Answer: Penn website says 40 lbs max drag, so I'd go with that.
Answer: Don’t understand the question. Drags are set based on the line used and what you are fishing for. Sorry, but I cannot help.
Q:
Does the 50 can handle deep drop for swordfish? Planning to reel 65 pound braid an a top shot of 200 poind mono.
Answer: The 40 pounds of drag it delivers is real. I run a full line 660 yards of 80 mono. It’s a solid reel not fake! For sword fish you would do just fine but I would definitely use 80 lb mono at 600 yards and top shot with the 200 braid. It should hold 50 yards of 200.
Answer: I'm sure my hubby has never tried fishing for swordfish, but it work great on galliph grouper it may work on swordfish. Hope this help!
Q:
Can this reel handle a 600 lb tuna
Answer: I would imagine it could. It has the same internal parts as the international series but with the graphite outer parts. It's a 50w so an international 130 would probably be better for 600 lb tuna. I've caught a few marlin with this reel around 200lbs and had zero issues.
Answer: Mabey but I’d much rather use a 130 on a tuna rather than any graphite framed reel. For tuna you really need the line capacity and drag a 130 offers
Answer: I’ve never caught a 600 lb tuna, but I’ve caught some good sized sharks with it. It is built well and I don’t see why it would have a problem with them
Answer: If you locationally catch one, no problem after few hours
Answer: Yes it can, like any other quality reel you will still ned to fight the fish within the reel capabilities and yours. That is a sizable strong fish!!
Answer: If your line and rig can handle it then this reel could bring in a truck
Answer: Have not tried anything of that size, I can tell you it handled a 40Lbs Grouper, beautifully. I think it can, my personal opinion. Hope this helps!
Answer: That might be tough. I have caught 150’s. Not any bigger. I would recommend bigger
Answer: Ask Penn
Q:
left hand model?
Answer: No right hand
Answer: Right handed
Answer: sorry only right hand
Q:
is this a water sealed reel? kayaka fishing?
Answer: NO, this reel is not sealed. Only spinning reels are available sealed, never conventional reels.
Answer: Yes, it is. Is a very heavy reel, for offshore fishing... marlins. Even for sailfish is to heavy.
Product reviews of Penn Squall Lever Drag 2-Speed Trolling Fishing Reel
mzat : Nice looking, well built reel
I give it five stars for price, these occasionally dip down to the low $200s and that's an exceptional buy. I've used the more expensive Shimano 50 wides and they may be a just a bit smoother, but at a cost of $500.
I've spooled it with 500 yards 80# mono as I mainly troll for wahoo and mahi. The lighter 30vsw may be a better choice for my type of fishing... this big reel combined with a 80-120 rated rod is a lot of weight to jump around the boat with.
Devin Walker : A must own.
Penn never disappoints. This reel it huge. Barrings spin freely for days. Easy to use. Well worth the buck. Basically a wench on a pole.
Steve L : Great Reels!
These reels are exactly what I need for chasing tuna in Mexico. They are working great, but will need to see if they pass the test of time.
Amazon Customer : Five Stars
Great reel for the money
MrRich : High Speed Gear Gone first trip out
I was so excited for this Reel. First time I tried to use it the High Speed gear would not engage at all.
Howard C. Martin : Super Reels

1600 yards of 100 lb braid 2 speed works great smooth drag man baits soaking deep sharks here we come !!
William D. Cox : had to re install an internal nut, but i am satisfied with the reel.
it didnt shift into low. pulled it apart and it was just a loose nut at the drive gears, easy fix and i am satisfied with the reel
Amazon Customer : Great bang for the buck !!!!
Great 2-speed trolling real here in south Florida for wahoo kingfish and anything u can hook spooled with 80lb mono just a great bang for the buck
Cruzanrican : Well built and Affordable!
Have not fished this reel yet so my rating is based on first impression. Looks and feels just as you would expect from a reel this size. Moved the lever back and forward and all other moving parts and everything seems in smooth working order. Can't wait to go out on the water and land a big fish.
Get it right, no complaints : Best Fishing purchase 2019!
First trip out using this reel landed me a 120 Tuna with so much ease! This was one of the best purchases of fishing gear I made last year!
M.N.Wright : Great shark reel
I bought this for land based shark fishing. I wanted a reel that could handle that once in a lifetime 12ft hammer or tiger. The largest I've landed so far was a 6ft lemon shark. This reel paired with an 80lb rod made short work of the lemon. The low speed setting turns this thing into a winch. It wasn't necessary on a 6 footer, but hauling up a massive goliath grouper or shark it may come in useful. The drag is smooth and consistent (even with heavy drag under load) with no surging seen in some cheaper reels. The only downside is you'll spend just as much spooling this reel with braid as you will on the reel itself.
Nelson Sean Mabee : Five Stars
Awesome, lightweight trolling lure that can still handle the big fish.

best price I could find, great deal
Amazon Customer : Great bang for the buck !!!!
Great 2-speed trolling real here in south Florida for wahoo kingfish and anything u can hook spooled with 80lb mono just a great bang for the buck
Bubba Mac : Best reel for the non commercial fishermen/women!
Love this reel. I'm updating my whole fishing setup with 5 of these reels. Super loud clicker and the graphite makes it really light compared to the all metal internationals. Some other reviews say that the graphite wont hold up to larger fish like Marlin or Tuna but we catch those on the single speed large senators with less drag, and they are primarily graphite so I have no doubts at all that this reel can handle large predators.
**Update**
I have just caught my largest fish ever on this reel. This reel stood up to the challenge of bringing up this marlin. I'm 6' 210lbs and this marlin is bigger/heavier than I am. My guess 250 at least. 100% satisfied.
papa diesel : Buyer BEWARE.....NOT as advertised!!
Don't get me wrong, I think this new Penn reel is a great substitute for the equivalent Gold reel at a fantastic price point. All of it's functionality is as advertised. What's NOT as advertised is the braid capacity. If you go on Penn's Website, the 50VSW is rated at 1835 yards of 100# braid! Wow, it was for that very reason that I jumped at the chance to own this reel. But when I unboxed the reel, it actually had 1210 yards of 100# braid stamped on it and I thought, well, that's strange....why the 625-yard discrepancy?? So, I spooled her up using a brand new 1500 yard spool of 100# Powerpro (.46mm diameter) and guess what, she took about 1300 yards/100# braid and NOT nearly the advertised, 1800 yards?! I expected to use up the whole 1500 yard spool and then some, but that would NOT be the case. But I do know I have about 1300 yards of 100# braid and together with the 40 lb. max drag, should stop anything out there short of a 1000# marlin. So Penn, while I have purchased many of your reels & poles over the past 40 years, I am very disappointed that you gave me the bum scoop. While I'll continue to use Penn products, I'll be sure to tell all my fishing friends of this major discrepancy. This is the reason why I couldn't give the new Penn Squall 50VSW, 5 Stars.

Awesome, lightweight trolling lure that can still handle the big fish.
Zak McCue : Bad ass reel!
This reel is a beast, I use it for shark fishing and let me tell you this reel is bad ass, i hooked into a 300lb jew fish and this reel was able to lock him up and wench him 200 yards out without a problem and laternthat day I hooked into a 500lb jew and he was barely able to pull drag. The price is unbelievable for the power of this reel.
Tony : Very well made
Awesome reel for big fish
DAVID N. RIZKALLAH : Five Stars
It's the big boy. For less the $500.
Eric Brodd : Good reel that does the job
So, I bought this reel 3 years ago and I am by no means a fishing expert. I fish off of Okinawa, Japan for Mahi, Wahoo, and Marlin. Until a few weeks ago, I'd only caught MahiMahi with this reel, but it's true test came around two weeks ago, whenI caught the 10 ft 350 lb Pacific Blue Marlin in the associated pictures. This reel performed admirably, and if I had more experience, I would have set the drag a little tighter, but that is on me. Solid reel at an okay price that will get the job done provided your line, swivels, knots, and lures don't fail you first.
Bob R. : Five Stars
Love the price, reel works great, would buy again.

first time out caught a Goliath Grouper......put up an hour long fight. Reel had no problem brining him in

Have not tested the reel on fish but reeled my boat backwrds to where we got hooked on the reef. By how it feels it is a 2 speed good value 50 sized reel with a 40 lb drag. I am targeting ahi and ono in Hawaii with this reel.
