Countryman Crew : Good for the average fisherman

Personally I really do like the looks of this reel, it's attractive and has a good weight to it but is not overly heavy. The bell is nice quality and so is the handle itself. Holds a fair amount of 65lb braid as well. It isn't balanced the best but it's not terrible by any means. As I was using it the main thing that really turned me away from it is that the part that attaches to the pole, seems to be made of a cheap composite unlike my higher end Penn, Abu Garcia, pfluger, and daiwa reels. As well as the bail kept snapping shut midway during my cast. In a matter of 15-20 casts it did this 3-4 times. So for a budget I suppose it's not a bad reel, with these things kept in mind. But I would definitely consider spending the extra little bit of money to go with a Penn fierce or something comparable with better quality.

The design is nice and sleek looking. It has smooth casting. It also has a quick retrieve. It is a little heavy for my wrist. Could use a quick fire release. Made for the Serious Fishperson.

My husband fishes often and he seemed very impressed with this reel. It's very lightweight but doesn't feel cheap. It's clearly made well, everything turns nice and smoothly. He's only used it a couple of times so far but he was happy with the quality and craftsmanship.

First impressions, this is a very good looking reel. Not that it means it's quality, just saying it looks fantastic. You'll be proud to be seen with this one. The biggest thing that surprised me is how big this reel is, it is huge. Not saying that is a negative, just surprised me. I took a picture next to my hand to give people and idea of it's size, but you can't really appreciate the size till you take it out.

It has a very smooth and quite action to it. Spins very well. I really like how it turns. Hand knob is foam and large, so no problems gripping it when you need to.

It's still on the cold side here weather wise, so I have not had much of a chance to really work it. But I'll be sure to update this if anything changes and as I use it more. Pretty sure I am going to be very happy with it.

Overall, so far it's an outstanding reel and the price is pretty good. Would happily recommend.
