What does compact mean?

Answer: Compact in my type of fishing is light tackle usually 6 to 10 pound line used in inshore saltwater fishing for speckled trout and redfish. I mostly use artificial lures to drift the Lower Laguna Madre at South Padre Island. So, light tackle is required to prevent fatigue.

Answer: It means is small and easy to use..

Answer: Nothing really. It's just a good basic light spinning reel for a reasonable price.

How much braided line can it support?

Answer: Depends on the lb you want to put on i put 30lb braid on mine about 120yds..

Answer: It depends on the diameter of line you use. I use 30lb Seaguar Premium braid and it took approximately 100yds of it.

Is this a saltwater reel?

Answer: Yes and it is awesome small effective for normal distances. If you looking for high depth reel you should go for 8000 series and above.

Answer: Although it could be used in both, I believe it is a salt water reel. You could check the sgimano site, normally they differentiate between the two. Either way it's always best spray down a reel after using it in the salt.

Answer: Man I am not sure about this question as I am not a Technical guy like that but, I can tell you that for the price, it is one of the smoothest Reels I have ever used and I actually bought another one just like it for another custom rod I am having made to give as a Christmas present to my oldest son.

Answer: I can compare to Stradic. It's not a Stradic. But for $39 it has performed well so far. Good stop on retrieve. I do use exclusively in salt water. Open drag and freshwater flush. Spray with reel magic. Time will tell how long it lasts.

Answer: It’s seems to be a better built. At least it feel sturdier. But my experience is limited. I use mine for trout fishing so not too sure about the salt water. Sorry I could not be more helpful.

I purchased this Shimano Nexave C5000 HG FE because I needed a strong, fast yet compact reel that weighs half as much as my other large Shimanos. I tried it for the first time last weekend off the rocks in F6-7 Beaufort , spooled with 40mm line. I am satisfied at the way it handled. It tolerated no nonsense from a couple of big bream (saragi) I landed. Even after three or 4 hours of fishing I could lift the rod high up in the air with one hand to avoid getting the mainline snagged with the rocks underneath me. I purchased this reel from Marlin Blu di Montanari and received it very fast with very good tracking.

Never worked right at all. I bought two of these reels and one of them had a catching it from the get-go and the other one had a line roller where the screw kept coming out. Terrible line twist when using 4# test. Bite the bullet and buy the highway and Shimano reel instead!

El carrete se ve bueno y de buen material,pero no cumple las expectativas descritas. Es demasiado chico y aparentemente en fotos y descripción parece grande. Para ser un 4000 es demasiado chico. Encima he tenido que pagar 17€ para poder devolverlo. Osea que me ha costado la broma el dinero a mi. Os aconsejo que vayáis a una tienda y lo veáis un situ para así no tener el problema que he tenido yo. Me veo sin carrete y con menos 17€????

Exzellente Rolle mit sehr fein einstellbarer Bremse. Ich habe bereits die Vorgängermodelle gekauft, die eine äußerst lange Lebensdauer vorweisen können (überhaupt keine Probleme).
Ich habe die nun eine weitere 2500er Nexave erworben, die angenehm läuft, viel Schnur fasst und enorm leicht ist. Meines Erachtens kann man für dieses Geld kaum eine bessere Rolle bekommen. Mit der Rolle habe ich schon viele Karpfen von weit über 15 KG an Land ziehen können.

I like the reel. The quaily is just what you get for the money you pay. I have had those since 2003. I was buying Nexave models. I would say this is great reel for evryday freshwater fishing. The only thing I would change is the plastic handle (but like I said that’s what you get for the price you pay).
