Q:
Is this set up to handle braided line?
Answer: Works fine with braid
Answer: yes it will handle braid
Answer: I just used Mono . I don,t like braaded broke to many rods and don,t get the bites.
Answer: Yes, I use 15 lb test. Nice reels.
Q:
can a 40B handle a 40pounds striper ?
Answer: the 40B should be able to handle a 40 lb striper if it is matched with the correct line and rod. The 40B produces 13lbs of drag which should be enough to tire a striper as long as you have enough line capacity.
Answer: I've caught a ten pound striper on this same exact reel with no issues, the drag was smooth and worked great. However, at 40lb, that's a different beast, and I would probably recommend getting a larger reel with a stronger drag (this reel only has a max drag of 6kg, I'd find something in the 15kg range).
Answer: Yes. If they know how to fish .
Q:
Can you use this reel in saltwater?
Answer: Yes I use it for salt water. Works great . Rinse with fresh water after use
Q:
Just purchased this reel. someone recommend rod. mostly stocked trout in streams and occasional salt water trout. under $100. thanks!!
Q:
Can I use this okuma isx-40b with 10’ rod
Answer: Yes , it can be used with a 10' rod but might be limited on linecapacity. You can maximize the line capacity by using braid instead of mono.
Answer: As long as the rod is a spinning rod, you should be fine.
Answer: I don't see why not. It very light so the balance with me kinda off.
Q:
What's a good freshwater panfish/bass rod for this reel?
Answer: Okuma reflexion in ml/l good price for that rod. I would load it with 10 pound braid and 6 to 8 pound mono or fluorocarbon leader. Great for drop shots, neko, ned rigs and maybe some jerkbaits. I have my reel on a daiwa presso 11 foot for crappie's.
Answer: The Reflexions rod or an SST rod in 7' ML action would be a great match for this reel.
Q:
Looks like a left handed reel handle. can it be switched to the right?
Answer: It can be change to right hand.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: The Inspira reels can be switched from left to right hand or vice versa.
Answer: Yes just loosen nut and switch sides
Q:
What ratio is this spinning reel?
Answer: 5.0:1
Q:
What size would be best for lake/pond fishing?
Answer: i am using size 20 for small lakes that are in width 2-3 meters, about ponds, we have a pond that has 300 m Length and about 70 m width. perfect for both conditions. a friend of mine is using size 30, works also good. if you ask me, for UL rods 20 is the best size.
Answer: Both the 20B and 30B are on the small side, and very light as well. I use the 30B for Steelhead fishing. Either one would be a good choice.
Answer: I would recommend the 3000,it's a little on the small side for a 3000 series. Maybe 2500 if you are going medium light or you prefer a smaller size for your rod.
Answer: 15 are 20 with six pound line
Q:
Would the 40B size be like size 4000
Answer: Yes, different brands use different digits to define the size of reels, like 10,20,30,40,50 on okuma as 100,200,300,400,on mitchell,as1000,2000,3000,4000 on shimano.but always check the line # capacity as you preference
Answer: Sorry I don't use the 400 I just use the 30 & 20 and I like them reall good been using then for years and they out fish any other reel that I have use.
Q:
What is the gear ratio and number of bearings?
Q:
is this reel braid ready
Answer: Yes
Q:
Could you tell me the difference between this model and the helios i dont see the difference ?
Answer: The Helios is built off the same platform as the Inspira but with some upgraded features. The Helios features Alumalite gears and high performance ball bearings. The Helios also features a C-40x Frame , rotor and sideplates.
Answer: No Idea but it's one of the best reels I own.
Answer: This one is just a little better balanced
Q:
Looks like a left handed reel handle. can it be switched to the right?
Answer: It can be change to right hand.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: The Inspira reels can be switched from left to right hand or vice versa.

Answer: Nagoya
Q:
What is the exact Weight of this reel ?
Answer: 6.5 oz.
Answer: 6.5oz
Answer: 6.5oz
Q:
Will this reel work good with a medium rod?
Answer: This reel would be a good match with a medium rod. 10-15lb mono or 30-40lb braid would be my suggestion for this size reel.
Answer: This real will work excellent on a medium rod it is light and very smooth.
Answer: Yes. I have this setup with 15lb braid and a 6ft medium rod and have no problems catching any fish
Answer: if u mean 1.8 - 2.1 meters then yes
Q:
what is the weight of the 20B reel? is it for UL rods?
Q:
Line capacity
Answer: I put a few layers of mono then about 200 yds of 10# braid on the ISX30B
Q:
I was thinking of putting a 40lb braided line but what is the length that I can put?
Answer: 20lb braid has the diameter of 8lb monofilament. I believe you should be able to put the equivalence of 12lb monofilament. But double check the diameter of the 40lb braid and the capacity on the reel.
Answer: the 40B will hold 150 yds. of 40 lb. braided line.
Answer: 40lb braid will work, but you will loose line capacity. I suggest 20lb power pro! scale up your leader line instead and a good medium drag setting.
Answer: My best guess would be 40 lb is twice the diameter of 20 lb,, so half of that.
Q:
how many ball bearing?
Answer: I have 9 in mine and it work great
Answer: 11
Q:
What is the weight of this reel?
Answer: I dunno it's pretty light
Q:
Does the reel flip to either side
Answer: You can unscrew the handle and move it to the other side of the reel if needed.
Answer: Yes. The reel handle can be put on either side.
Answer: Yup you can adjust it to be left or right handed.
Answer: If you are talking about the handle then yes! It can go from right handed to left easily.
Answer: Yes
Q:
What size should I use for 20 lb braided line?
Q:
What is the best rod to pair with the inspira
Answer: More of a personal preference and depending on what type of fishing you will be doing. Paired with daiwa exceler medium extra fast rod (EXE661MXS) and 150meters of 20lb daiwa j braid line. My set up is used for all around fresh and saltwater fishing. I use it for crappie, bass, flounder, and trout. Sensitive enough to feel the little nibbles and ease of casting. This reel is very nice in durability and light weight. Online purchased picked up at store Wally World.
Answer: I have it paired with an okuma scott Martin concept jigging rod.. 7 ft med lite.. Works great and looks great.
Answer: I have the scott Martin concept from okuma 7'
Answer: Light action "Ugly Stick"
Q:
Which model size would be best for strippers on the Colorado River ?
Answer: I’d say 7,5-9” model with thick knob for Colorado strippers.
Q:
Should i get the 30 or 40 for my 7ft medium rod
Answer: In my opinion, like shimano, they are light weight and compact. I have the 30, and it feels like a 2500, which I actually like. I guess it depends on where and what your fishing for
Answer: A 30 would probably balance better but if your after larger fish a 40 is alright also.
Answer: 30 for sure.
Q:
Is this a salt water reel and which size compares with a shimono 2500?
Answer: This is not a salt water reel, as the bearings are not sealed. The 30 size is comparable to a Shimano 2500 size reel.
Answer: It can be used in both fresh or saltwater. The ISX-30B would be the closest in size to the Shimano 2500 size.
Answer: The frame size is the same the spool capacity is more with the 30B. I don't think salt water would heart, as long as you rinsed after use.
Q:
This is the 2017 model?
Answer: I HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT. EXCELLENT MACHINE
Answer: No
Product reviews of Okuma Inspira Carbon Frame Lightweight Spinning Reel, Blue
Rusty Shackleford : Great reelfor the money!
Bought the 30 series to pair with a high modulus 7' rod I built specifically for fishing the white bass spawn above Toledo Bend every year. We typically catch hundreds of fish in a 3day trip, sometimes over 100 per day. So Iw anted a rig that was light, smooth, and will hold up to the shocks that braided line will impart. First impression was great. Reel was smooth, drag felt well, and the 10lb power pro laid on it nicely. Took it out on the next trip chasing crappie, and used it as my primary rod. Caught dozens of fish, and loved the Inspira. I am looking forward to using this setup more now. I will likely be replacing reels that are getting phased out with Inspira reels as well. Slowly but surely all of my spinning gear is getting replaced with Okuma. Great reel priced well below its performance level.
Mark Cooper : Quality & price
I've been using this reel a lot for the past several months. I've used and have many different brands of spinning reels. I have reels that cost over $100 that are not as smooth and cheaply made compared to the okuma! I am so impressed, I brought another. I've been spin fishing for 42 years and have used a wide variety of reels. I believe the Okuma reels are great quality for half the price of a comparable reel. At least with the inspira. You won't be disappointed.
Amazon Customer : Great value and smooth performance
Incredibly light and powerful---my favorite combination. Surprising drag pressure. I ended up buying 2.
Benoit Laplante : Didn't last...
Handle got loose ( wobbles ) after only one season of use and i can't tight it up...
MaryMoon : Another great reel from Okuma!
Okuma did it again with this reel. Light, great feel...super smooth. I bought this for backpacking...would recommend.
Amazon Customer : very nice
very nice and smooth reel..
Michael : Okuma Inspira ISX-40B
My first reel was an Okuma Ceymar. I really liked it for how smooth it felt. But I needed another pole. I found my Shakespeare Ugly Stik Inshore, and paired it with this Inspira 40B. I absolutely love this reel. The way it wicks the water off, the sturdiness. I love it. If you’re looking for dependable reel, look no further. Sure, there are far more options but if Okuma is your brand and you’re looking for one this won’t break your bank, I highly recommend this one. I’ve been lake, pier, and surf fishing with this. It hasn’t let me down.
robert f britt : Cant beat it!
I have been using the helios 30 reels for a few years, not only is this reel comparable, I think it might feel even better. Very happy with it, will purchase more. Very smooth, reels line onto the spool nice and even, very light, you will not find another reel in this price range with equal quality in my opinion. First reel that I've bought for less than $100 that feels like a $100 plus reel.
Matt C. : Pro grade good price point go Okuma!!
I love it bought 2 put a bazillion yrds of 10lb blade sea knight mono on 1 and I would estimate 150yrds of 30lb spider wire on the other. paired w cheap walmart 7ft one piece tsunami sea tech rods med heavy action $25 or so and felt better than gx2
Bout a $100 bucks a set up and work flawlessly thanks Okuma for bringing pro grade gear at a affordable price point
john DeFrancesco's : Four Stars
Very smooth. solid reel
Amazon Customer : Five Stars
love it
Omar Ahmed : Waste of money, light and that's it
It's a light reel, thats the only positive
It is not well built, after only 2 outings the reel is hanging up after every few turns. I always clean all my reels after every outing, and have used mostly Penn's in the past, never had any issues with them. Should have stuck with Penn, this is money down the drain after only 2 outings.
Next reel if I want one lightweight will be a Penn Conflict.
William Fischer : Great reel
Have only had for a few months but so far it is my favorite spinning reel ever had. Time will tell but its great so far.
Jeff A. : Amazing
Smooth as they get, drag is flawless! Amazing reel
Steve Boney : Quality Construction! So SMOOTH.....Bought a second one
Will use for panfish and bass. Anti-reverse is on bottom front of reel, took a sec to find it.
Julio Rodriguez Tun : Calidad a muy buen precio
Muy bueno
wesley huang : Smooth reel
Great reel
Tim B. : Great reel for under 100$
I have the 20 that I use for crappie and bluegill have had it for over a year now and it still performs exactly the way it did the day I bought it,so i ordered the 40 to pair with the Okuma Serrano Rod 7'2"MH and it has been my go to for most applications love the reel and rod will buy the isx30b soon.
Yote HUnter : Casts a mile
This reel with 8 pound braid casts a mile, retrieves like so fast, the fish is in and you barely work for it. It the go to reel for the money.
Jordan : Excellent, light-weight reel
Have to say I'm very happy with my reel! I've paired it with a Dobyn's Sierra 6'9" Medium-Light rod.
The combination casts great with 10lb Sufix 832. Compared to my Penn Battle II, this Okuma is a feather-weight, yet plenty sturdy for cranking.
Humberto M. : Que Excelente Carrete!!!
Jesse : 1/3rd the price of a stradic
Full lite carbon frame. One third the price of a stradic. Own 3 of them. Best reels
Cesar : What an awesome real for the price
What an awesome real for the price! I run 30 pound braided line without any issues! I do enjoy Okuma’s reels!!
Scott E Racow : Really nice light reel
Using this reel with my ultralight rod, 10 lb braid, for trout lakes here in Colorado , really nice Okuma!
Anita Nagan : Quality reel. Smooth affordable.
I am a Shimano Stradic guy. Got one of these okuma reels as a gift 3 years ago. At the time I had 5 Stratics. Now I have 2 Stradics and 5 Okumas. They are lighter and just as smooth. I was worried sand/grit would get into the open style body of the reel but my son put it down in the sand 100 times fishing from shore one day, and its fine 2 years later. I love the 20s, but the 30s and 40s are also just as smooth and long casting. very little spin/wind knots if any. Line fits nice and flat on the spool. I bought 2 more this year. Stratics are getting old, I will be all Okuma after this coming season. I use braid exclusively. Started maintenance on the 3 year old reel(30) and it was so clean I didn't change or add grease.
dan : Great little reel for the price. Why pay more.
Nice inexpensive reel. Had for year. Use for flounder fishing.
elias : Okuma Inspira 30
Paul : Perfect for throwing senkos or ned rigs!
I paired this with a EVX rod in medium power. Awesome combo to throw senkos or ned rigs. Smooth retrieve and awesome drag. I put a lot of fish in the boat with this and never had an issue. Great reel for the price!
john DeFrancesco's : Four Stars
Very smooth. solid reel
Amazon Customer : Four Stars
little noisy
james : Love this reel
Smoothest and lightest inshore reel I have had. Love this reel. I use it more than my quantum pr smoke inshore. I plan on getting a few more
Ben Hornung : What an amazing reel for the price!
I’m not very price sensitive on fishing gear. That said, why throw it away? It’s as good as my stratic shimano for 1/3 the price! Love this reel!
michael banales : outstanding real for the value
I use this reel with 4 and 6 pound test for trout fishing very smooth very light very reliable.
john DeFrancesco's : Four Stars
Very smooth. solid reel
Cat M : Okuma
Very nice reel (408). Smoother than my Penn Fiery II 4000. It has carbon body and 9 smooth bearings. I really like it. Nice reel for the money. Bought a Calico Jack 7" medium to go with it.
SilverOnes : Okuma value
Really good inshore reel. Lightweight, smooth, and great drag. For the money it seems to me it would be hard to beat. Would purchase again.
Steve Boney : Quality Construction! So SMOOTH.....Bought a second one
Will use for panfish and bass. Anti-reverse is on bottom front of reel, took a sec to find it.
Richard Fargo : Great
Great reel, nice drag, overall worth the money spent.
KayakFisherman : Great reel
A nice intermediate-ish reel. Got it for my dad as I am teaching him to abandon powerbait and use lures.
Nicely balanced and very smoothe. Might get one for myself.
