Answer: It absolutely can be used in freshwater. Like I do after fishing in saltwater, be sure to give the reel a good freshwater rinse as soon as you can.

Answer: my best and most favorite reel. I fish mostly salt water, in the Manasquan river inlet. caught 2 foot flounder, 6-10 lb sting rays, blues and stripers 18-24 inches. I also have a clash II 3000 just a bit smaller. Would highly recommend either one. So far after about 8 months have had no problems at all. I have them both spooled with 30 lb braid. got to go, can hear the fish callin. Hope this helps..........Bill
