Answer: If the order does not say Abu Garcia Revo4 STX, it is not the correct reel. It should also specify Left Hand. The number "4" stands for the version produced. If you do receive the reel, turn it over and see if it is stamped with "Revo4 STX".

Answer: The Abu Garcia REVO4 STX, right hand, has three gear ratios - 6:6.1, 7:3.1, and 8:0.1. I used the Abu Garcia REVO4 STX with the 8:0.1 ratio this past week while fishing in Minnesota for Musky. I was very impressed with the retrieval speed. I also have the same reel with a 7:3.1 ratio. I have been very happy with this type of reel.

Answer: I’ve been using the same Abu Garcia Revo S (2) and STX (1) reels in saltwater for over 10 years and they’re in good condition. I have several of these and yes I do rinse them after use.

Answer: The Abu Garcia Revo4-STX comes in three different speed ratios, which means how quickly you can retrieve the line. All three speeds are prices the same. You have to be careful, when buying this reel, to make sure you are purchasing the one which meets your retrieval needs.

Answer: you can find Abu Garcia reels with the 8.o to 1 gear ratio on Amazon. A word of caution. Make sure that the picture you see on the Internet is the one you are looking for. I saw a picture that said the reel had a 7.3 to 1 gear ratio. When it arrived at my house I found that it was a 8.0 to 1 gear ratio. I this case I was happy because I prefer the faster ratio when casting for Northern Pike and Muskie.

Spooled the reel up with some spiderwire 30lb stealth braid and paired the reel to an Abu Garcia Veritas 6’6” medium heavy rod for a nice lightweight and short package. Performance was great.

The brakes are a little difficult to activate if you have larger fingers and short finger nails. You can use a small hook, pen, or knife to gently lift them.

Great distance from the reel and rod combo with 1/4 oz spoons. Caught two rainbow trout and a largemouth in the first hour.

Lacks instructions on maintenance, operation, etc... so the internet is going to be your friend there.

Never gonna buy Shimano again. One thing I did immediately - replaced spool bearings for Boca Bearings ceramic (Apec7) - 30% improved my casting. STX+Boca Bearings >>Abu Premier.
I found that the breaking system works best with all six weights ON, and axial breaks nearly off or somewhat tightened for heavier lures.

Once you set the internal brakes to where you comfortable and set the real to where bait falls round 12 inches can get some very long cast out of the real no backlashes are none of that stuff on light baits the real does everything I need it to do very easily just spend a little time with it

Use this reel in saltwater 100% and this reel has performed flawlessly. Initial setup was easy with all brakes activated and settled on 2 activated. Throws both Corky Fat Boys and jerk baits with as small as 1/8 oz jig heads a long way. The retrieve is also very smooth.
