Answer: I used this reel this past weekend, and yes, I would say you can easily hear the clicking when line is going. It is a nice smooth reel.

This reel is a good bargain. Bait runner functions ok, and notice that it's significantly larger at the bottom than a regular reel. On package it says saltwater approved, although in Amazon's description it's not. Will test how durable it is in the next few months.
