what kind of line is suggested for this reel?

Is this reel designed to work with braided line?

Answer: : If you want to use braid, you need to begin with mono backing so that the braid has something to “grip” on to and won’t spin on the spool. Begin with spooling enough mono to cover the metal surface of the spool, the use a uni knot to attach the braid to the mono and then spool as much of the braid as you want, up to the reel capacity.

Answer: I spoiled this reel with 20# braid, and after 3 trips the entire length of line would spin on the arbor and wouldn't retrieve. Since braid has no stretch and is very slick, it doesn't grip the arbor very well. It doesn't work well with spincasters in general, not just this one.

Answer: For optimal performance we recommend only using mono

Is this reel good for saltwater?

Answer: It's meant for freshwater so I wouldn't think so. It would be too small for saltwater fishing also.

Michael : Zebcos Hidden gem

This reel is silky smooth. Flawless casting, dead quiet retrieve, smooth drag, rock solid metal construction, VERY user friendly for children though seasoned vets who are always stunned that its a Zebco closed face reel. ZERO trouble from either of the two I own after 3 years. No surprises or disappointments, it does what its supposed to do with reliability. I see the Omega gets all the attention but this reel can hold its own against anything out there and cost less too. It is a little heavy but that's an acceptable trade off to me for the rock solid and consistent performance it delivers. I will soon be adding a 3rd Delta to my reels just to have something really nice for our guest to use.

Skees : received an incomplete/previously opened reel from Amazon--replacement had no drag

Well built reel although it's a bit heavy. Zebco developed the spincast style of reel so they know what it takes to be good. Factory box fell apart in my hands when I removed it from the shipping box--I blame Amazon for that. Also, there was no user manual or warranty in the box--looks like Amazon sent me a reel that had been returned to them, not a new one. Will return it and have them send me a new one because that's what I paid for.
Update:
I received replacement--box is brand new, so is reel. There was no manual with this one either. I adjusted drag to full-on and it would not hold line tight. Pick up pins picked the line up but would not take in line with tension greater than 6oz on it. Don't waste your money--this one's going in the trash

Michael : This is my second Delta because the 1st was so good.

I used this reel all last summer and had no problems with it. It's very smooth has pulled in everything from Bluegill and Bass and some larger Catfish and one surprise Walleye. I'm getting older and growing tired of all the fuss and care of a bait-caster. This little reel is just about bullet proof and is so simple to work with I actually get more enjoyment out of fishing. I spent years overlooking Zebco button reels but I have to admit if your just out to enjoy catching a fish they are just about perfect. I really like the higher end Zebcos, they are well constructed and super smooth and I can't think of any issues with them. My wife and I are spending more time fishing and less time undoing back lashes and tweaking brakes for whatever we are throwing. Bait casters are great but this thing just simplifies the day and makes it more fun.

Unclear who the target buyer is. Too big for little kids, extremely inefficient for adults. Holds no line- perhaps two casts, and only on the thinnest line possible. Also gets stuck a lot.
