Questions about Cadence Lux Spinning Fishing Reel, Super Smooth Reel with 9+1 Japnese BB, Strong Performance Reel with 36LBs of Max Drag, Premium Components of Braid-Ready Spool, Stainless Steel Main Shaft, Die-casting Handle & EVA Knob
Q:
Which series would I need for up to 30# braid?
Answer: I would use either the Lux 3000 or the 4000. They are both excellent reels and will handle 30# braid very nicely with the use of the proper spinning rod.
Answer: You can run 30lb braid in the 3000, but I would not try to put 30 lb. on anything less. If you are going for large fish like 30 plus pounds then I would use the 4000.
Answer: I have the 3,000 model. The braid is a lot smaller diameter. I would go with the 3,000 model.
Answer: 3000-4000 will both work just fine.
Q:
Can i use mono line on it?
Answer: Sure! Follow the recommended line wt/ yds in the description or in the box.
Answer: yes you can
Q:
Is the lux the same as the cs5 except for the color of the spool? specs appear to show its the same reel.
Answer: I think the main difference is the Lux has 9 ball-bearings + 1 instant anti-reverse bearing system that is Japanese made. The CS5 has 8 ball-bearings + 1 instant anti-reverse bearing.
Q:
How to changed the handle from left to right ?
Q:
Can i use this reel to sulf fishing
Answer: Yes, you can but it may not last as long as one with sealed ball bearings. Also, as mentioned in a previous response, the line capacity is lacking so maybe only for light saltwater applications.
Answer: No due to corrosion problems and line capacity.
Q:
I have a cadence 2000 reel and want to purchase an extra spool. I can’t find the cs number on the box or reel and there is no paperwork in the box.
Q:
I'm looking to purchase an extra spool? i just purchased the lux 2000 need to purchase another spool one for braided the other for floracarban line.
Answer: I would go to the cadence website and contact their support staff.
Q:
can these reels be changed to left or right retrieval ?
Answer: Yes they can I am left handed and I have two of these reels.
Answer: Yes they can I am left handed and I have two of these reels.
Answer: Yep, it definitely has retrieval for both sides.
Answer: yes it can.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes!
Answer: Yes
Q:
is this good for saltwater and fishing inshore?
Answer: I’m not near an Ocean so I’m not sure about that, if I were going to fish on the Ocean I would invest in heavier gear including tackle. That being said my 3000 or the 4000 would handle smaller fish fine. All depends on what your after and what you know and experience.
Answer: The larger sizes are. I would go with the 4000 for inshore.
Q:
How much 10 pound test monofilament will this real hold
Q:
Is this rod suitable for use in salt and fresh water?
Answer: I use in both, wash off after salt water
Q:
Any plans to sell spare spools for the Lux?
Answer: Don’t think so, makes more sense to add a new reel, that way you have a beefy rod and reel for the type of fish your going for. Buy a Musky rod and reel for that trip and a Croppy rig and reel for that.
Q:
Is this reel suitable for both Salt water and fresh water?
Answer: I’m happy with it for fresh water, I’ve not had it yet on the Ocean. It’s well made with 9 bearings and smooth. I have the 3000 and is fine for large pike, bass and walleye. The 4000 may be better for muskey or large cat fish. Sea rated tackle would be overkill for my needs, I have a fresh water kayak setup for midwestern states and Canada not the sea, that’s a whole nother kettle of fish ;).
Q:
Is it waterproof?
Answer: It’s a fishing reel it’s supposed to get wet. if you dropped it overboard and left it there it probably wouldn’t survive , but day to day fishing it’s waterproof!
Answer: Not sure but i have dropped all my spinning reels into a water at various times and they all work. Just check the insides when done using it for any seepage.
Answer: As with almost all reels ,water resistant.
Q:
Does this product aswell as your lux series have a warranty for replacement and or refund? And if so how long is it for?
Answer: As far as I know they gave I one year warranty and you can purchase a 4 year extended warranty doer $4.99.
Answer: You would have to look in the Cadence fishing websight
Q:
Which style would be best for steelhead? 3000 or 4000
Answer: Definitely the 4000.
Answer: Sir, I would stick with main stream brand names. I sent my cadence reel back. Look at Penn or Daiwa,
Q:
Is it for saltwater also?
Answer: I would only fish freshwater due to the fact the bearings are open to corrosion and the reel is smaller in capacity so you may run out of line when you hook into a big one.
Q:
How much 4lb line will 1000 hold?
Answer: 4 lb line is fine so it takes more of it to fill the spool. Buy a large roll if you want to fill a new reel. It’s good to add some as it wears out so buy more not less.
Answer: 175 yd to 210
Product reviews of Cadence Lux Spinning Fishing Reel, Super Smooth Reel with 9+1 Japnese BB, Strong Performance Reel with 36LBs of Max Drag, Premium Components of Braid-Ready Spool, Stainless Steel Main Shaft, Die-casting Handle & EVA Knob
Khary Bey : I Go Fishing
Great light weight reel. No problem landingdrum and trout. Keep it sprayed down and get your drag on.
Bill Burton : Tested and proven smooth and reliable.
Caught my largest largemouth bass last week with the aid of my LUX3000. The bass got tangled in moss while reeling in with only 8lb mono line. Took my time and had a lot of fun and allowed it to make several runs . Landed and was 20 inches long and heavy. Love this reel.
Nikki : Shartreuce Goose
Nice with 4 # vanish Berkley line and st croix panfish series 6 footer rod .smashing the Crappie
Amazon Customer : Good for the money
Not as smooth as my other reels
Itsa Mystery : Nice reel at this price point, awesome customer service
I used to have more money to spend on fishing gear so I'm used to high end Shimano reels. But when my 15+ year old Shimano Sustain 1000 bit the dust I needed to look for a less expensive option.
My first impression of the Cadence lux 1000 was that it seemed a bit bulky for a 1000. The bail in particular is bulkier than I'm used to. And it doesn't spin freely like my shimanos (you can give the handle on a shimano a spin and it keeps spinning for what seems like forever). That said, the reel feels solid, tight and well made. There's no sloppiness in the mechanism and the retrieve is smooth. I always close bails by hand but I did notice that the bail is "stiff" in that, if you just cast and crank, you'll hit significant resistance at the point where the bails tries to close.
Customer service is stellar. I carry four rods in a soft rod case with reels attached and in order to make to all fit I need to loosen reel handles so they fold in. My Shimano handles have a shaft that goes through the reel with a nut on the end. The cadence does not; to loosen the handle you just unscrew it until it folds. I was worried that I might eventually lose the handle, sure enough, I did after a couple months. When I contacted customer service to inquire about purchasing a replacement handle they sent me one free of charge! I'll be removing the handle entirely and storing it in my tackle bag in the future.
All in all, I think this reel is good value for the money.
Daniel Sharpe : Great reel for the price
Took a chance on a new product. Not disappointed. Very smooth. Teamed this up with a Lux medium rod, Great combo.
Mike : Wobble wobble
Wobbles in the reel seat. Thought it was flex at first because of the polymer frame...which does flex a lot...but it also won't lock into the reel seat because the feet or whatever you call them are too small. It's fine other than that issue but that's kind of a big deal.
weimin : Very smooth
I bought it one month ago.Because of the epidemic situation, I have not been able to try it out.I finally tried it today.Very smooth. very nice!
Shawn Smith : Silky smooth and powerful drag!
I have only gotten to take this out to the water once, but it definitely left me with a good first impression. I have mine spooled with 15lb. braid. The first thing i noticed was how smooth it was. I started out with a paddle tell swim bait and I was very impressed with the smoothness and speed of this reel. I then switch to a weightless Texas rigged worm and caught my first fish. It wasn't big but I had to pull through some downed tree branches and lots of grass, and the Cadence Lux 2000 pulled it out with no issue. I can't wait to go back and catch more with it.
I don't you are going find a nicer reel in this price range.
Scott Hill : Worth it
Use for bass fishing pretty nice
Joseph D. : Best value from Cadence!
This has to be the best reel I have. I also have a CS8 3000 and the CS4 3000 but the LUX is by far the smoothest! I have already convinced my buddy to get one!
Richard Von Fischer III : Smoooooooth
Received my Cadence Lux Spinning reel on Tuesday and went straight to the store and put on 10lb superslick braid. Took the canoe out on the River Wednesday morning to test this out. Really love the feel of the handle just as all other cadence reels I have. It’s super smooth and has a great retrieve. Was out on the water for a few hours and had nio issues what so ever. The drag feels great but only landed a few small guys so can’t wait to put the drag to the test. I have a CS7 as well, and I really can’t say which I like better.
It’s super light weight and has a great fast retrieve, I would buy this again and recommend anyone looking for a super high quality reel at a low price to buy it and take it on the water!
Also great company and fast responses if you have questions or problems.

RP : Crank sticks when closing bail.
I like the feel, smoothness and speed of the reel. What I really don't like is after you open the bail, cast and turn the crank to close the bail, the crank sticks and you have to put considerable pressure on it to close. Once closed, everything else is good.
David E. Grindle : Unbearable bail
The reel has very smooth retrieval. However, after EVERY cast you have to close the bail manually. Not actually the end of the world since I do that about 30% of the time anyway. But when I don’t do it manually my lure sinks too deep because I’m fussing with the handle trying to crank the bail closed. It’s just a major deal breaker for me. I have a MUCH cheaper reel, same size, that is smooth as silk and the bail closes easily with the handle action. I’ll just use my “better and cheaper “ reel and give this to someone I don’t like.
Donald morgan : Great reel very smooth
Reel is smooth and strong drag
ckhayes1 : Quality testing should prevent the shipment of possibly defective products.
After each cast, the reel would lock and not allow me to reel the slack from the line without. I was forced to manually flip the release back into place before I could reel in. This is very, very sub-standard.
Khary Bey : I Go Fishing
Great light weight reel. No problem landingdrum and trout. Keep it sprayed down and get your drag on.
casper : If I wanted a reel with no bail I would have ordered one!
The bail on this reel right out of the box does not work properly. When you try to disengage the bail sometimes it locks sometimes it doesn't. After to getting it to lock in the disengaged position. Then good luck getting the automatic bail to do it's job. I cranked on the handle to get it to engage and it wouldn't I was afraid of breaking the handle. So I resorted to the manual method. I'm not sure where these reels are made but you have serious manufacturing problem. I would not bother purchasing a reel or any other product from this company. A reel should work first time every time.
Waltair : value
Haven't tested it on the fish yet but is a great reel at a great price
Opiwoods : Perfect
Okay,I Don’t know how long it last?
Vincent T. : Shipped on time
Lite weight and works and feels excellent on the water
Shawn Smith : Silky smooth and powerful drag!

Just what I wanted

Bryan Waters : Great smooth reel
This reel is very smooth and lightweight. It is well balanced and the handle is perfect. This reel has the features of a $200 reel for a fraction of price.
Beachside Dog Walkers : Decent reel.. after some finagling. Read below. Crappy customer service!
As mentioned in my headline, the reel is decent, however it did not start out that way. My first reel I received had cosmetic issues. The handle had a blemish and one of the screws over by the roller guide also had paint missing from the surface. Requested another reel from Amazon and the second one I received had a noticeable noise when reeling fast that was not noticeable with the first. Yes, at this point I could have requested another reel, but at that point due to the nature of my concerns only being cosmetic with the first, I simply addressed them myself by swapping the handle and the screw from the second.
I contacted Cadence customer service informing them of my less than perfect experience in hopes of receiving some sort of compensation for not being able to use the reel when I wanted to (had a plan fishing trip) and the time wasted in repackaging and sending back the "bad" reel. I asked for a second spool, which in my opinion was a fair request and it was approved by Cadence customer service. What should have been a simple transaction.. ended up being a long and drawn out process just to get them to do what they said they would do from the beginning. It took approximately 4 weeks and an absurd amount of emails with Cadence customer service for me to get what was promised to me. This to me is just unacceptable! The time wasted replying to emails and the lack of communication on their part wishes that they would have made it right by refunding me my original purchase amount. I did not make such a request because I just wanted to be done with it, but it would have been nice if they viewed it from the "customers" perspective. I gave them a 2 star rating for their quality control on product and for my overall experience with Cadence customer service. I hope I never actually have an issue with one of their products as the customer service in my opinion is one of the worst ever. There is no phone number and everything is via email. My message to Cadence is to actually have a real live person to talk to when issues should arise. You charge a decent amount for your product and lack any real overhead costs so why not reinvest in hiring actual people to address issues they may have with your products.
Allen : Spins+drags smooth as butter. All metal construction.Likely will last many seasons.
Perfect 4000 spinning reel for pier and close surf casting. Smooth as butter. Appears to be all metal. So far no rust after several uses surf fishing. Just freshwater light rinsed, wipe, oil. Good to know I have 36lbs drag available when I need it to pull fish up a pier. Mostly use it on a 7’6” heavy-fast action rod; but used it on my 9ft rod when my Okuma 6000 broke. I was able to throw 2oz double dropper rig on it a few times without worries. O feel like the company genuinely wants to promote fishing so they made a great reel for people on a budget and can’t afford to buy a new reel every year. My only request is a personal preference for an all black spool option be available for the Lux. Also a general request for Cadence to creat a simple colored silver+black long casting spinning reel that has the long semi-shallow trapezoid spool, slow oscillation for a tight wind around the spool for long distance surf casting. Also add a barrier below the spool to prevent braided lines from going under the spool. No reels have it, but it would be great if Cadence spinning reels had it first.
ckhayes1 : Quality testing should prevent the shipment of possibly defective products.
After each cast, the reel would lock and not allow me to reel the slack from the line without. I was forced to manually flip the release back into place before I could reel in. This is very, very sub-standard.
