As the title states what's your favorite bladed swim jig and trailer and why mine would have to be a chatter bait because it's the only one I've ever fished lol every year I pick a New technique to try and master and this year it's these
Z Man and Trailer, i go with Berkley Havoc Grass Pig or Zoom Swimming Fluke
I have two favorites.
The SK Rage Blade & Strike King KVD Perfect Plastic Blade Minnow ~ love this one early season, low & slow.
The Z Man Chatterbait Freedom & Culprit Incredi Craw ~ the specially designed, twisted hook attachment allows anglers to swap-out hooks in an instant, opening the door to an almost-endless combination of trailers.
A-Jay
Currently I'm throwing a 'Revenge 1/2 oz Viberator' (not a misspelling)
It has a nice thump, but what I like most is the little hitchhiker that allows a T-rigged weedless trailer.
I use different trailers but prefer a non-throbbing trailer that doesn't compete with the throb of the blade,
normally a Kalin 4" Lunker Grub (chartreuse/pearl).

@A-Jay threw a curve ball with the culprit craw. Awesome choice. I don't see culprit talked about hardly any... Except for the ribbon tails occasionally... Which my grandfather swore by

Try It -
It allows the blade bait to be worked a little faster - a little speed encourages the bait to "hunt" a bit, which is almost always a good thing.

gambler little ez: moderate action very heavy side to side kick (when i'm fishing them over trees)
havoc subwoofer: has more action (normally when i'm running baits fast)
keitech swing impact fat: a lot of action at slow speed (when slow rolling)
A homemade number: 3/8oz arky head, split ring, blade, snap, skirt, zoom fluke:
Homemade ones, with a Pit Boss or Rage Menace rigged vertically.
A rigged Pit Boss.

I got some new yamamoto swim baits to try out behind one pretty beefy profile with a segmented body and more low profile boot tail the local shop gave them to me to try out...guess they are new this year I don't even see em on tackle warehouse a lot bigger profile then what comes with them a lot like what u are going for
It's called a zako

The Zako has more of a fish profile and comes through the water easier. The Pit Boss and Menace have appendages that work in opposite directions of each other, which allows a slower retrieve because of the increased drag. The Pit Boss especially is also much cheaper than the Zako as well as more durable. I had a similar issue with the heart tail from Yamamoto, fish biting the tails off or tearing the bait up quickly, especially on days when the catfish are really chasing. It gets really expensive really fast on those days if I'm using an expensive trailer.
Got ya well these few packs were free lol I have some pit bosses as well I'll def be givin them a try thanks for the advice

That's how I got the heart tails, free from the local shop to try. They were nice, but $10 a pack was way too steep for me to keep using them.
I use several different types depending on water clarity, speed of retreive/rate of fall desired, etc. Split tails, single curly tail, flukes, swimming flukes, pit boss, and rages.
I use both the Z Man Project Z and Picasso Shock Blade in 1/4 and 3/8 size. I use the Yamamoto Zeko and Zoom's split tail for trailers.
I like the keitech fat paddletails.

forgot which jig i fish these on i have multiple favourites but it really depends on what im doing
Lately I've been using Z man chatterbaits with a rage craw as a trailer.
Z-Man original with a Havoc swimbait is the one I use most, although when I used to get MTB, I recieved a Buddha Baits chatterbait and it looked really good in the water. Only things is, on probably the fifth cast with the Buddha, I stopped feeling resistance and when I pulled it out of the water, all that was left was the blade.
z-man original chatterbait with one of the below trailers.
- 3.8" BPS speed shad
- 3.8" Eco pro tungsten swing shad
- SK rage menace rigged sideways
I have been using Z man chatterbaits. I either use a fat albert, fluke, or a Zoom super chunk as a trailer.
Picasso shock blade or D&M custom baits piranha II with a zoom super fluke or strike king blade minnow. No need for paddle tails on a chatterbait/bladed swim jig the lure wobbling side to side will already give your trailer enough action
I like the Rage Blade with a menace trailer. The Rage Blade gets hung a lot less with great action.Menace trailer fits perfect for a tight a tight wobble.
I like a swimbait, or a grub as a trailer.
I like Siebert's Foggy (and the Fogy Bubble Blade). Can't beat the price and color selection. As for trailers, just depends on the situation - will sometimes use a Keitech Impact (usually the 3" but will sometimes use the 4.8" Fat), sometimes a pitboss, maybe a grub. My favorite though is the Biospawn Vilecraw.
This one, because it catches more and bigger fish than all the others I've tried.
My new fav is the Finch Nasty Thumper. He designed his skirts to match the Lake Fork Tackle Magic Shads for trailers.
I like the Z-man Chatterbait with a Zoom Fat Albert. Matching colors to start, but maybe a contrasting color. And you cannot over look white.
My favorites are the ones I got from Bluebasser86...I am currently waiting patiently for North Star Baits to release their bladed jigs The Twerk...
I love to use Reaction Innovations Skinny Dippers for my trailers...
Bluebasser's swim jigs are second to none(IMHO)!!
Headless Skinny Dipper or Little EZ
Mike
Zman freedom with a soft jerkbait trailer
I find that the jerkbaits have a nice fluttering motion to them while some paddletails cant kick well due to water disturbance of blade and skirt.
I personally really like the Keitech Easy Shiner in whichever color you prefer trailing the Zman Custom Chatterbait.
Only @Bluebasser86's....I've tried half a dozen others....no reason to revisit any of them.
80% of the time, I use Rage Tail Structure Bug...and usually, its white (thank you, @roadwarrior)
Remaining 20% is a mix of cane thumpers or flukes....I did get a couple packs of incrediclaws over the winter....I think it was Roland Martin that suggested....but I'd listen to @A-Jay, too
I prefer the Z Man Chatterfrog with a bruiser baits junior swimmer. This thing thrashes like no other and will easily get the attention of big cruising bass.....and also large swaths of angry pike from my experience.

Quite a few guys recommending urs blue time to start selling them put me on the waiting list for a couple let me know what I owe ya
I hoard original D&M Piranhas when I can find them but also use the Picasso Shock Blades and SK Rage Blades. I also got a bunch of original chatterbaits from overstockbait that I'll throw into anything because they were so affordable. Trailer wise I for the most part stick to a single tail grub. I have some rigged up with different trailers but the single trail grub is simple and consistent.
I've had some recent success with no skirt and craw trailer. Got the freedom and swapped the hook to 3/0 ewg and added a preferred trailer.
I dont know how i feel about no skirt freedom chatterbaits. Have had more success with skirt

It's in your head (;
Ever fished a swim jig with a menace trailer ??? Ever fished a weightless or t trigged menace ??
Honestly... I would have kept the skirt but the hook it comes with is elongated for the skirt to
Fit above the gap... When you swap to a preferred hook the skirt doesn't have anywhere to go ! So I tried it like this... I stuck a few around some cat tails and a few over some rocks in a small cove.. I'm sold it doesn't need a skirt... But aye buddy, You just go ahead and keep ur skirts.
Ive tried some and never got bit. I noticed you cant really use skirt without the stock hook.
I dont see why it wouldn't work but I havent developed confidence yet

I fished the ones I make naked with just a 4.3" SI Fat during a tournament at LOZ this last fall and did really well with it.
I really want to hate the original chatter, but I caught a 6, and an 8 today with one. Its like that crazy chick in college who would let you....
