I guess at nearly $30bux, I dont have the stones to even buy it, but the Owner Cultiva Gobo Popper for a 1/3rd the price is very good, it just lacks color choices, the XCalibur Zell-Pop has worked well for me also.
George Welcome and his clients fish the Chug Bug.
I do, too!

Whoa...the ultimate enthusiast's lure! Not sure I'm prepared to cast this bad boy in the vicinity of low hanging trees. Yikes!!
Viva Bug Eye Popper in Pearl yellow head or bull frog. Great bait for culling - it only catches bigger bass.

Don't think, just buy. You can't lose floating baits! Unless you suck at tying knots, of course.

Me too!
There are no bad poppers, but any popper that can't negotiate vegetation, is no favorite of mine.
My favorite popper is the "Sizmic 4.25" Floating Pop'N Toad" (mossback).
Most importantly, it's totally weedless and can be pitched directly into the surface salad where Big Bertha lives.
It can be popped explosively, quietly twitched or buzzed like a freight train.
As a bonus, the soft mouthable body does not discourage comeback strikes.

uh..if by stones you mean cash, then no. thats a work of art not a lure. chug bugs and skitterpops will have to do
Gsplash, Skitterpop, chug bug, (Rico's are on my list)
Yellow Magic 8-)

mr pikey says differently. noway in hell am i going to lose a nearly $30.00 topwater to a pike. maybe if there weren't any around, possibly then i would get one. otherwise a $8.99 SP09 skitterpop will suffice & has proven itself time & time again.
The G-Splash in size 80 is my favorite, but the Rebel Pop-R has caught me quite a few fish over the years.
Rico is another I like, too!

You can get MB PopMaxes all day long for less than $20 on ebay.
I've bought used MB stuff for less than $10......just keep an eye out.
my favorite poppers are zell pops and pop n image when on a lake or resv.,but river fishing you can't beat the skitter pop(small size)it just seems to be the right size those river bass want.i try the zell and image and they never work(at least for me) what is your fav. popper on rivers or streams?
28 replies and no one went for the Rebel ? :-?
I don't care if your popper was hand painted with feathers from an angel's wing, bass only see the underside of it. Besides the lousy stock hooks, I'll stick with the Pop-R.
The Skitter Pop is another good one.
I noticed that last year too, tried 1/8 Pop Rs and 1/4 Zell Pops no dice, but Skitter Pops in the 05 size (3/16ths?) river smallies would smash.

There's a video of Al Lindner lambasting smallies on a Skitter Pop (probably several videos).
His favorite color is "Clown", which I believe they discontinued because it's very hard to find.

Ahh, didn't think about hammer handles. Stupid pikes ruin everything. I've been pretty lucky and not many toothy critters hit those expensive ones - I think they can sense the wrath they will incur if they do!
I'd also have to throw a vote to the Iovino Splash It poppers. Very high quality baits in the $10 range, with patience.
Spro Bronze Eye Popper (rainforest black), or the good ole Hula Popper.
Cant believe no one like the old faithful DevisHorse. I like it in silver.

I like the Ricos, been the best for me the last couple of years. I have a very old popper I traded a collector for many years ago and it is deadly.
Yellow Magics, pop R's, chug bugs,
Spit n image, skitter pops.
Just different tools in the tackle box.
