Has anyone try this crazy looking topwater bait? There isn't even video's of it online anywhere. Curious about it effectiveness.
Thanks
I saw it advertised, too. I've always had luck tossing the ol' Jitterbug, and would be interested in trying one out. Lurenet is the only place that I've seen them.
What does it look like?
looks like a pinched off turd with a prop
I bought 2 from BPS. Its about an ounce and casts farther than a traditional buzz bait. It has like a 3/0 frog hook, I changed out to a size 2 treble hook.
It buzzes on top and has slight body roll. You can stop at a submerged weed patch hole and twitch like a popper.
With all that said...I've not caught on the lure yet. I bought both last month, not quite the right timing for using it, but wanted to check out the action.
It's certainly unique..... http://images.cabelas.com/is/image/cabelas/s7_134416_005_01?rgn=0,0,1952,1072&scl=5.136842105263158&fmt=jpeg&id=1cMFga14sUKked1m13DdmA

Describes it perfectly! Lol

Picked one up yesterday. I will update you on anything I uncover when tossing it around.
i'd change the hook out on that butt plug, arbogast always has really crummy hooks on their baits...
Well...anyone try one out yet?
My buddy nailed a fatty on it.. and I've got 6 fish so far on it.. I like it
my first largie of the 2013 on may 13th in the sippi backwaters i throwin the buzz turd...4.43#'s
This thing is deadly. The new sleeper bait.
Looks like someone has been watching the Bill Dance reruns on NBC Sports...
Had a a good evening Saturday, catching 7 bass, with a couple 4-5lbers on it. I like them, something different in topwaters always appealing to me....Heck if they had $2.00 worth of better hardware/paint and were from Japan they could go for $30 lol.
EXTREMELY versatile but like every bait, there is a sweet spot. I found it last night. Even though yo can creep it.....in the weeds.....out in the open,....burp it, burn it or jerk buzz it, it's BEST used in a decent chop if your water is anywhere near the clarity of ours here in RI. I was fishing the slammer last night with the perfect slight chop on top that the fish like, hides the bait just right,..but then the wind kicked up those couple of mph that make the slammer disappear,....THATS when I threw this on, something that would stand out in a small-med chop. I managed to land 5 fish in short time with a miss that had me gasping,....can't wait to play with this one a little more
i'm sold..had it in my hands 4-5-6 times the past few months, only to put it back! looks like a friggin' spinning clam shell with a cheap 2-point tin hook, but now i will buy one..die monkey...die!
Try my today for the 1st time and got nothing. Going to try again on another day. Hopefully with better luck.
It's skill in fishing not luck. Luck is at the casino.
When I try a new lure that's not working I focus on my hand that's turning the reel crank to make sure I'm making an even circle. If not the lure goes fast then slow. It has to be an even speed, the fish do see
Flaws in our presentations.
In my experiences with new lures I find that they do work good on average. I fish the same places over and over I feel the fish do learn our lures.
When we throw something different or new it's game on again.
I purchased 4 of these last month and gave some to the kids I haven't heard about the results yet.
I used mine for the first time Sunday. Slight chop on the water, seems perfect for this thing, especially after the splashdown it makes when it hits the water. I didnt catch anything on it, but it seems like its gonna work when the time is right. Nice buzzing action, and a fat profile from underneath.
Just got one of these in a gift exchange, it sure is odd looking, but then again so are many of our baits! Ha!
Can't wait to try it out!
Have one ... Tried it a few with no success thus far.
Lets not forget the Hula Popper and Jitterbug probably caught more fish than another 2 lures over the years.
I have had one for almost a year. I have caught fish on them but always in shallow weedy areas in early morning or late evening. Lots of surface noise, totally weedless. Fun to throw even In strong wind. Part of the arsenal!
wow arbogast marketing is pretty bad lol
anybody know the hook size on this thing?
its like a 3/0...i bought a 4/0 owner frog hook to swap out and its bigger...
I did some experimenting. My spro frogs have a 3/0 gammy. Definitely smaller than that.
I have a couple booyah pad crasher jrs and Basspro says they have a 2/0. Still a bit smaller than that.
So I think its 1/0. Maybe someone can confirm.

It's hard to ignore whenever he is always catching pigs on the show!
I have used it and have caught two 4 pounders. It's a pretty good sized bait so it probably intimidates smaller fish.
ive got a few on it. thing casts a mile though. deff going to try it some different spots this year.
Picked up a buzz plug Jr today, I think its smaller size will help, especially here in the northeast.
Or you could just throw a Rage Tail shad and have better results and bigger fish....just saying

How do you know this to be true?

Thanks
Bassjunkies Frog Pond did a review on it last year. I trust about anything frog related he has to say and he thought highly of it.
It's a pretty big bait so keep that in mind. I hear pike guys like it as well.
I started using this bait last year and it is sweet. The bait is really heavy but it is deadly. The stop and go action you can do around weed edges and submerged logs is great and it is also good in open water. I have caught some great fish on this bait including a pair of 6's last year. Cant wait to get it out again when the time comes around.

I'm going to be showing you very soon in a detailed post. Stay tuned
or the buzz plug jr could be just the ticket on any given day. never know unless you try.
This bait is crazy
I am glad that they came out with a jr version. I have both the original and the jr, I can't wait to use them both.
I'm kind of kicking myself...I was at an outfitters today (well, it was on my way to the grocery store) and I happened to see them on the wall. Didn't even really consider buying one...I might have to make another trip tomorrow (I'm sure I forgot to buy something at the grocery store) and pick one up.
