I have been looking out my window at the SNOW and thinking of the two rods which one would be better! So I think I will throw it by the experts! What do you guys think? I was thinking 7' MH in spinning or trigger. The bait I would throw would be senko's , jigs,T-worms, fin.worms,ect.
I was thinking of which one to get too. I have 150 dollars in bass pro shops gift cards and they dont have the zillion rods. Right now i am leaning towards the kistler magnesium.

Right now gander mountian has the kistler heliums for like 120 bucks, thats if you have a gander around. I like my carrot stick but I haven't fished a kistler yet, thats why I'm buying one today...
I recently purchased both a 7'H Magnesium and a 6'10''MH Carrot Stix Gold but haven't had much of a chance to test them out but what I have done so far gets me to say that either would be a great choice.

What did the Carrot Gold cost?
I honestly can't recommend either. I sold my two Carrots; I didn't like the guides and the sensitivity was just mediocre. The Kistlers still have a bad rep for frequently breaking. I'm not a fan of Trey Kistler, so it pains me to say I'd choose the Kistler if I could only choose from those two. You might look on ebay and see if you can get a quantum superlite for $150. Lamiglas hooks up Quantum with a really nice blank for those rods, and they hang with my other high end rods.

I'd be interested in hearing more about that. :-?

me too - you have a bad history or something?

I have not owned/used any carrots, but insert Magnesium TS into the above quote and you'll get my feeling on those, not to mention that fact that Kistler used crap reel seats and cork.
Yes..........NOW.......they use fuji seats, but whats the point, they burned there bridge with me. $180 rod and I can get better reels seats and guides on a $30 Berkley Lightning Rod.
Thanks for all the input! Now maybe I will look at the new Mojo rod.
I own several Kistler rods in the Magnesium and LTX 2 models. They are fantastic rods. The Magnesiums are not as sensitive as my LTX 2's, but they are still pretty sweet rods. I have only fished with a buddies Carrot Stick for a few casts, but they seemed just o.k. to me. I would also take a look at the new Argon series from Kistler. They are supposed to be a hair more sensitive than the Magnesiums.

Do you know if Bass Pro has the Argon rod? In the catalog they just have the Magnesium! :'(
i will get slammed for this but why not look at the extreme rod at bps,i have 4 of the woo daves models and for the money i dont think you can beat em.i also have 2 shimano crucials and the extremes are just as good in my book.a lot of guys have the shimanos, kistlers, loomis just for there i can feel fish better than you can cause i got a high priced rod ego.

I agree with you on one thig! The Bass Pro Extreme are very good rods for the money that is true! But there are better feeling rods! I have 18 rods in my boat and my top rod is a G-Loomis and that rod has better feel than the extreme. Now I would never spend over $200 for a rod. I have 4 or 5 Extremes in my boat and I like them! But when comes down to lite bite I go for my better rods and they do cost more! You get what you pay for! And some day I will buy another Extreme!

Back in 2004, Someone posted a thread on the Bass Pro forums about a Helium LTA versus an IMX. The Helium was pretty new, but had some fans. It got a little heated when Kistlers warranty issue came up, and then Trey Kistler appeared and posted a few replies. He said Loomis rods were popular only because they sell you on their warranty (implying kistler didn't need a lifetime unconditional warranty because of their quality product). The next day he erased his posts, but a few were saved from people replying with a quote. I just didn't like his attitude....

138 from ebay
Go with the Magnesium!! I promise you will not be disappointed.
I just bought a Magnesium Flipping stick and I love it so far. It has a really great tip that is soft enough to use for frogs as well. I have never used a Carrot Stick but I can say I really like my Magnesium.

Then your book is wrong.

I wasn't gonna say anything but my Magnesium telescoping flipping stick makes my Extreme telescoping flipping stick feel like a broomstick.
CARROT

i said by my book,i really dont need you to tell me im wrong.heck those rod manuf need guys like you.you are kevin van dam arent you????????? and everybody mite not like the crucial as good as a extreme, does that make everybody wrong and you right.
The BPS Extreme rod is a $30 rod priced at $100. Fine if you need to beat your rugs or whip a horse.

lmao-how bout you just give your opinion on a rod,and maybe he believe all your advice.what a joke
That is the perfect summation of the BPS Extreme. If you think it comparable to the Crucial, you aren't the only one laughing. :-/
Southern,
Fortunately for you, Tons of anglers have used the Extremes and still slam hogs with them. I think its a nice Broomstick and would add it to my collection of non-fishable tackle that still produce good catches. This place is just full of fishing connaisseurs that forget that not everyone ( go Figure?) has their taste or budget. I should post pics of what a lot of people would consider crap that I use just to watch heads spin. They don't mean anything by it, just bad wording. (sometimes) :-/
I like the Kistler!
Don't buy one Crucial, buy two. Then break the guides off and give them to your kids to play swords with. That's all they're good for.

thanks
i would get the kistler too,in fact im going to bps tomorrow and mite just bring the alton jones rod home with me.i really dont see nothing special bout the shimano line of anything,im using my crucials for my spinnerbait rods.
There is any easy way to solve this argument. Go to a BPS and pick up comparable models of Extremes and Magnesiums. I think most people will agree with Burley and I.

are u and burley comparing kistlers to the extremes or crucials to the extremes.i have never said the extreme is the same league rod as a kistler mag,i was comparing the extreme to the crucial in which i dont need either of your opinions as i own both and have used both.

That's great! I like the Magnesiums too, But it was not the point I was getting at. I prefer making people ( New Members) feel more comfortable than uncomfortable.
Thanks all, I'm done.

I just wanted to know of the two rods, what one you guys would like better! I didn't think it would end in fight. So I will ask for more pro's and cons of these two rods. I want to buy a rod soon and now someone told me to get a St.Croix Avid rod so what do you guys think of the 3 of them?
I know you didn't mention this one, but Cumaras have been going very cheap on fleabay lately.
Buy a Cumara. Then bring it home and bolt it to your kid's bike. Then glue an orange pennant to it so he don't get hit by cars.

Call me crazy. but I'm thinking you don't like Shimano rods, do you?

I just ribbing. I've never fished a Shimano rod to any extent. I'm sure they are fine.
Although I knew a blind guy once that used a Cumara for a stick and kept on getting hit by cars since he never could figure out what he was touching with it.

I misspoke. Replace "Magnesium" with "Crucial" and I still stand with the statement.
And why you are comparing a Crucial to an Extreme in a thread about Carrot Stix or Magnesiums is beyond me.

I would ask Micro what brand of rod he's using to poke people in the ribs with, It's already got a bite ! ;D
Avid's look real sweet too! good luck with that. Create a poll and see what the other 600 plus who have read this thread think. and then have it moved to....Favorite "All Time" Threads.
