now they wont run you $200 at least retail. that all but rules out me owning a new one.
MAN, they sucked bad enough at the normal price!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry but I have to be a "conservative look" snob here...I could NOT go fishing with one of those things. I could wave a plane in but that's about it.
Seems kind of strange with all the bad press they've been getting lately... don't you think?
QuoteSeems kind of strange with all the bad press they've been getting lately... don't you think?
oh i dunno, they fish so well in the store.
;D ;D ;D
;D
You guys can bash them all you want. I wouldn't pay the new price of $200 for one but they are very competitive at the $150 price point IMO. I have two and I love both of them. They're sensitive for the price and they're ridiculously light. I don't care about the press they get (although I commend Duckett for doing what he thinks is right) they work perfectly well for me.
How many of you guys that are bashing them actually own or have used one?
8-)
I'm not bashing them at all. I've shaken quite a few at the stores but I like a traditional look and feel. Need my cork
Ya gotta admit, they look ridiculous....just a little...maybe? :)
Don't mind me, I'm old. ;D
thats ridiculous i thought they were $50 too much before.
Guess they need a few more centabos to hang thier decals on a new Pro ;D

Me, hey, right here! I had two and hated them equally! They both broke for no apparent reason besides poor quality! Competitive at $150, you kiddin right!?! Powell, Kistler, Shimano, Fenwick just to name a few in the price range all with Fuji components and proven performance!!!!!!!
Source?

CT Smallie: I wouldn't have picked orange either, bash them for how they look as much as you want, I completely understand, the aren't for everyone aesthetically speaking
Muddy: Don't know what a centabo is?
Dink: I had one break as well, I got it replaced under the warranty. GLXs are very brittle and have been known to break if you're not careful, yet nobody complains about them? As far as the guides, seriously, give me a break. On all the rods I have built, I've used fuji guides, but believe it or not, it is possible for other companies to make decent guides as well. People get in their head that if its not fuji, it sucks, this isn't the case. If you hated yours though, thats cool, at least you've used them, so many people bash products without having any experience with them first.
I like mine quite a bit. It has a solid backbone and is very light, for the price and a lifetime warranty I think its a solid product.
Carrot Stix are crap. Do yourself a favor and go Powell. Powell actually honors their warranty and their prices are right near Carrot Stix.
QuoteCarrot Stix are crap. Do yourself a favor and go Powell. Powell actually honors their warranty and their prices are right near Carrot Stix.
Finally, a sane person!!! Thank You Mr. Senko!!!!! And now with E21 maybe "going down" where will your lifetime warranties go!?!
I just broke two Loomis rods yesterday, a GLX and an IMX. The breaks are so clean you would swear someone cut them. You bet I'm not exactly happy about it either. That's alot of hard earned freaking cash right there plus the 65.00 expeditor fee. I have never broken a rod in my life before so I consider myself careful in that regard but I've done worse by accident to my 15 year old Micro Lite that cost me 39.99 back then and it's still fishing. Then again, so am I and that's why I haven't and didn't blow my top at Loomis today. I do think they are way overpriced too BTW. They fish like nothing I've ever owned and that's worth it in my book. I did try other rods too and brought them back. Shimano's, Cabela's, Bass Pro, Falcon, St Croix and other Loomis models come to mind.

Yes, if E21 goes down, carrot stix owners are screwed, but I have no idea where people are getting that E21 is going to crumble. Duckett leaves them and everyone assumes the companies about to declare bankruptcy

The same place any lifetime warranty would go if a company went out of business.

just so everyone knows, this wasnt intended to be a beatdown of the product, only the price of said product..........

Why would E21 go down? Do you know that E21 is primarily a golf company? They aren't going down. Boyd Duckett's actions do not change the way I feel about E21.
I like how people crap all over E21 when one of their rods breaks just because they are new at fishing rods. I really, really, really, really doubt these rods break on their own. Nobody bashes G. Loomis or St. Croix when they break their rods.
Are these rods worth $200? Maybe not. Nobody has even listed a source for this claim. Are they one of the best $150 rods out there? Yes.

New to rods, I have been fishing my whole life and have owned just about every rod there is to own! Maybe St. Croix and Loomis don't get bashed for breaking because they are actually high modulus blanks(stiffer=easier break) with years of proven performance not pieces of baby food and golf clubs!!!!!!!
Dude, he's not saying that you personally are new to rods, he's saying that E21 is new to the rod industry, so whenever a rod breaks people blow it out of proportion because its a new rodmaking company

right, seems i was confusing their LTX for the Gold.
I just got my Carrot Stix Gold in. It's super light but then again I work at a full saltwater tackle shop and one of our distributors(Henry's) carries them. The price of the gold wholesale is $120 and the regular carrot stix is $89.
I also have 2 All-Star ASR rods which wholesale for $56..retail $99.99

Perhaps you should edit the thread title?
If the carrot stick was made by Shimano half of you guys would love it!!!!!! Most of the Jawing is about the lack of warranty response, as I hear and read about the product. Angelers have a hard time getting replacements when they break, and by this and other threads on this forum, they break often. If I wanted one, I would make up my own mind and do what i thought best and not complain about it.

Thread of the day! Is it hot in here?
I do not own a Carrot Stick as I hate the color orange, personal preference. I do wonder though if folks thought the same about graphite rods when they were introduced. I guess time will tell. I not much of a golfer either but one thing I can tell you the way I hit a ball and abuse a club I believe I would brake a Carrot Stick Rod. Food for thought, folks will buy what they want. Everyone swears by what they use, me included.
talking about your stix = wife/mother/sister/best dog.............lol
I don't own a Carrot Stix but I do like the color since most of if not all of my rods are either black or dark grey. I also agree you get what you like and if it works for you it works. I mean its like the choice of Quantum or Shimano or Shimano vs Pflueger with lots of people not liking Quantum because of either earlier problems with the product or customer service or something. I like Quantum though and they get more water time than my Shimano reels. I also like Cabelas rods as well but most don't like "house" brands so bottom line you fish what you like and can afford and most importantly what works for you.
I still plan to get a carrot stix or a lightening rod shock or the new lamiglass rod because of the color which I like with the Quantum Catalyst PTI-B.
What I don't understand is why so many people take these things personally? I am a big G Loomis fan, but if someone says something negative about G Loomis, I don't get upset. I might make a comment back, but it wouldn't be anything personal. I feel the only people who should take anything personal about what is being said about a brand is someone whose livelihood is based off of that brand (e.g., Carrot Stix Salesman, E21 Employee, etc.). Anyone else who uses the rod, because they like how it feels, shouldn't take anything said personally (nor should anyone get that passionate to harshly trash someone else for buying it). Ok, I am done my mini rant about this thread and several other threads that take on the same tone.
Use what ya like .If your buying a rod from a company that goes out of business thats your call .The big 3 will always be around G loomis,St croix and Shimano
I have two of them, and couldnt be happier with them. Wish they were a little stiffer, but other than that I love them. I would challenge someone to find me a rod in that price range that is near as lite or sensitive.

i do agree with you about how the feedback on this forum can help someone make a decision on what they purchase. my rule of thumb is this: just because it says they have been posting a long time on their avatar, doesn't mean they have. i respect a lot of guys on this site and value their opinions.
just be careful who you heed advice from. 20 posts a day for 3 months does not make for a reliable source of info IMO.
I love my Carrot Stix. It is one of my most sensitive rods and also I love the price point.
Those of you that are saying that your Carrot Stixs keep breaking, I'm sure at least 70% of the breakage occured from when you damaged it, whether you knew it or not.
As for the guides, what is wrong with them? Are they falling out? Are they bending?
4 pages of this...lame : : : i now just wasted 3 min of my life..thanks all.woner how long this one will go on for.anways...NEXT!!!
IMHO you cant go wrong with Carrot Stix. I have 3 of them and fish them all 3-4 times a week. Never had any problems with any kind of breakage. Very sensitive rods with good backbone. Fish what feels good.
QuoteUse what ya like .If your buying a rod from a company that goes out of business thats your call .The big 3 will always be around G loomis,St croix and Shimano
I am quite certain people much wiser than you said the same thing about the BIG 3 automakers :
I would trade my Croix Avids for a carrot stick anyday and put my sticks through hell, and have broke 2 avids and have not broke my Carrot Stick yet even though it is my go to rod.
Someone please call Irene!!!!!!!
Yup, all funny until you awaken the Pond Hopper.
I had a nice sponsorship with Croix a couple years ago until I started breaking Legends and Avids on the first cast out of the tube then they wanted $50 a piece to replace them. Croix and Loomis are becoming obsolete by the minute. Company's like Dobyn's, Kistler, Powell, and Shimano will be moving a lot more rods in the next 5-10 years.
Pick up a Cumara and you will see.
x2 on dobyns.however i still like croixs never did give a ratsass for loomis sold all mine few years back.

Ken Whiting of e21 is a standup guy, so if you do have a problem I'm sure he'll be on top of issues...I had an issue w/ an Airrus rod a few years back and called him at his home; he replaced the rod no questions asked and the only cost to me was the shipping of a piece of the rod which had the rod's information that's located above the reel seat...point being, I would think that he's getting involved w/ the Q/A side and getting to the bottom of the dispute...does anyone know what the issue(s) are/is...I read somewhere where the rod tip was to replaced because of cosmetic reasons, but the rod itself was fine...hey, if you just purchased one, get out and use the heck out of it prior to the one year $50 return cost kicks in...BTW, I will say that I just bought a Gold Stix w/ a 15% discount over the 4th, however, I would not have if the news came out earlier...but, I have faith in Ken W...BH
I think you should post Ken's number for those who have an issue.
I liked my 6'9 Parabolic Carrot I got last year so much that I ordered a 6'8 medium action Boyd Duckett spinning rod two weeks ago. I was really let down. The Medium was as thick as a BPS Heavy or MH. Also the spinning reel sat on the rod at such an angle and the first guide was so close to the reel that when I'd quickly reel up slack the line would bounce off the rod blank which was extremely annoying.
A buddy of mine attended ICAST-2009 and he brought back a brochure for e21...no Boyd Duckett on the brochure that he had; unless perhaps there was a separate brochure for the B.D. GoldStix...so, unless they had new brochures made up in a day or two, then he must have pulled out way before the show and waited to make an announcement until prior to the shows kick-off...also, I was talking to a factory rep from St. Croix about the MoJo and what a nice rod it was for the money...I asked him if knew what was going on concerning the falling out between e21 and Mr. Duckett, to which he replied that Boyd has a very high opinion of himself...just info
I have been using my E21 Carrot Stick for about 4 Months now. I Own Shimano, St. Croix, Okuma, and GLoomis. I must say that the Carrot stick is by far the lightest rod that I own. I love the foam grips, I personally like the look. I have no complaints about these rods.
P.s These rods are also perfectly balanced.
