Nov 11 partially cloudy, winds out of the SE @ 5-7. 12 noon @ my pond.
Thanks again to all of you who taught me to bass fish over the net. Roadwarrior your "senko" thread is priceless. But I don't want to leave anyone out. I would have never, ever thought of throwing a blue stick bait before meeting up w/ y'all. Let alone a red hook, and green line. Ha!!
Today my son said, "Daddy, you are the Bass Master!" Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not kidding about the Beer and BBQ w/ y'all if you ever come down to the real deep south.
Alex
That's awesome dude! Very nice fish and great pics! Did you weigh it??
Ain't it great when a plan comes together ! Great fish !
That is an awesomely proportioned fish! Congratulations dude. Thats good stuff right there.
Guys, sorry I have no weight. Its the only accessory the monkey hasn't made me buy yet. I feel compeled all of the sudden to purchase one, though! ;D
At the moment I am still high about the catch. The weight I'd guess is 5~, but I'm biased. As you can imagine.
She pulled the drag, man. Thats when I knew she was big. Unreal!!!!!!!
Makes a fella want to get a TV show and a sponsor, don't it!
That is one FAT fish! Congrats!!
Great picture of your boy as well!
Your son's expression says it all! Congratulations! Now get out there and catch a BIGGER one.
Ronnie
Hey I'm an optomist but that fish looks a little "healthier" than 5 lol spetacular fish congrats!!!
Wait a second, I'M in the Deep South! Congratulations on your PB! She's a beautiful fish!
Thanks y'all. Its nice to have a place to share stuff w/ a bunch of like minded folk.
I am so amped its not funny.
thats a sweet fish. wish i had pond like that. congrats
AWESOME FISH!!!! Great job on hooking and landing that fish, and she looks a little bigger than 5 to me too
I feel its a Florida Special that ate a 1lbr. No FishChris sow, but its enough for me.
This pond actually gets fished alot. Everyone uses hard baits... I love my soft plastics.
N2B,
Great fish, congrats!!
QuoteThe weight I'd guess is 5~, but I'm biased
It sure looks 5+ in the pics...
Way to go!!
Excellent catching young man!!!
Now that your son's interested, get him started with a rig and baits
Dan
Real nice bass Man! Congratulations. Wild looking stickbait, who turned you on to that color?
Nice fish! Its always hard to tell from a photo but it looks bigger than five to me too.
Nice fish and congrats on your new PB. You are and will always be your son's hero. It is just nice to here it every once in awhile.
The color idea I got from reading this site. "Natural Forage" and all that. I took my kid "catching" w/ hot dogs and circle hooks. We nailed a bunch of bluegills, and sunnys so...Blue/Green, and Yellowish/Black baits. I was doing pretty good w/ the zoom salty super fluke too in baby bass, and Arkansas shiner. The * stick is great, it really holds up. I learned about them from this site.
I'm hoping the beginners luck lasts for a while. I dont want that skunk showing up again.
This has been a heck of a ride guys...I really can not thank you enough.
Thanks Glenn for keeping the site up.
I could have never done it without y'all. Really.
Yep, that's a hawg! Congrats!
congrats
Outstanding.
Excellent work.
From the photo's it's hard to tell who is more excited, you or your son.
This is the stuff that father and son memories are made of.
Cherish these moments.
avid.
Awesome!!! Beautiful healthy lookin fish!!
Pretty cool!
The smile on your son's face just about says it all
WOW! that thing is a freakin tubby! :o gotta get one like that! Awsome, Awsome fish!
On a Senko no less...... Sometimes those big ones will just bite "ANY" crazy thing, huh ? ;-)
Congrats on the new PB ! I bet their is an even bigger one out there with your name on it though ! Go get her :-)
Peace,
Fish
Congratulations!
That's one nice bass.
Thats a nice BIG fish man, good job!
hmmm, did you catch any on the doritos? How did the Cool Ranch work? I usually prefer Nacho Cheddar
New 2 Bass, that is a beautiful fish. Dude, so you didn't weigh it, but did you get some measurements? You don't want to catch a PB and, at least, have some idea of what it weighed. Awesome outing. I'll bet your son is wound up and ready to fish.
Great looking catch...as far as the BBQ goes, sounds like a roadtrip!!!
Thanks fellas, that means alot to me coming from you guys!!!
As for the Doritos....its funny, my kid was eating them when this pig hit. The moment I pulled her from the water. My son dropped the bag of chips and started hootin' and hollerin'. Kind of like I was. We looked like two kids at a Chrismas gift opening.
As for size/length, I am guessing 25-27. She was bigger that my shoe x 2. I wear a size 12 nike (which is 12") and my thumb to pinkey is 9" (like a Hang Loose). Girth is somewhere in the 19-22. I put the numbers into the cpu for the weight, but I cant believe she was really a double digit bass. She didn't FEEL like one, well I've never held one, but she didn't feel like a 10lb dumbbell. Maybe I was so amp'd on adrenaline I was numb. What a feeling. I know why you guys live for this!!!!!!
The weight is not so important (well, ok it is). I went and got that photo enlarged to hang in my side of the house. Too cool.

At the top of each Forum is a "Tacklebox" function. Inside the Tacklebox is a weight calculator. According to the BassResource calculator, 26" X 20" = 11.27 lbs.
That's a BIG FISH! Great job!
wow what a monster fish. Thats a very nice PB. Keep at it, in your part of the country, there is a bigger one... I can guarantee it
I am truly humbled by everyones kind words. I can only look forward to fishing my mattlures swimbait for some REALLY big sow.
Roadwarrior I'd love to believe so. That pig, from the bank, on a lure, with my son. Ha!!! (my live bait friends still look like this )
For the record, the monkey hasn't let go of my ankle yet. I've looked at a bunch of scales in the last few days. What the hey is up w/ the prices? I can't believe what some of those things are going for. Crazy.
A little tid bit for you guys....Everyone I tell the story to, gets the pictures. They all say, "wow, big, etc". But the one that kills 'em is when I tell them I let her go. Some people can't believe it. Its like I'm the nut. Oh well. I guess its not for them.
later guys.
Congrats on the great fish good job.
New 2 bass....you are too funny. Cool to see people get so excited over big fish....I do too!!
Nothing gets 'em in ponds like that better than a senco. Keep it up!
The two reasons I fish
To catch a Hawg
To hook a kid on fishing
You did both
Awesome Fish!
Great picture of your son!
You let her go, new to fishing, and a PB - Now that's Priceless!

lol, where did you first hear this slogan? Just curious. Because I first used that saying about 1.5 years ago on another forum here in Florida the FBF. I haven't been a part of that forum for a year now and I still hear folks using that term. I am wondering if you heard it there? ;D
QuoteQuoteI feel its a Florida Special that ate a 1lbr.lol, where did you first hear this slogan? Just curious. Because I resemble that remark ;D
I got it here. I had never heard of the "Florida Special" before. I'm not far behind ya w/ the 16oz curls and pork rinds.
Yeah I have used it here too. I guess that phrase is mine since as far as I know I was the first to use it. To be clear a Florida Special is a bass that is 13" or less. They seem to be the most prevelant here and thus the phrase "Florida Special" was born. ;D
Other members who post here also post on the FloridaBassForum site. It was funny to see you use it. I have heard folks using that phrase all over the place now. I guess I started something with that haha.

thats an awesome post catt 8-)
Isn't something how a big fish can make your day, sometimes your month. I wish my wife could figure that out.
