Q:
Screw in handle?
Answer: Insert in Handle.
Q:
Is the 2000 size reel ok for inshore fishing?
Answer: I think this reel is more for fresh water and light line. I would look for a heavier reel myself....
Answer: Too small, 3000 or 4000. I bought the 3000 and put 10lb braid on it.
Answer: Yes it is OK.
Answer: Yes I catch 4 to 6 lb trout with 2 lb test line with no problems

Answer: 20lb/165yd for 3000 Braid: 30lb/270yd for 4000
Q:
What is difference in the viper and carbon x series?
Answer: The Carbon X is made from carbon fiber, so it is lighter than the Viper I believe. The Carbon is also rated for Saltwater. I have both, and like them both. I think the Viper has the biggest size option though.
Answer: Size, weight (the carbon x is considerably lighter) & sealed three carbon disc drag.
Q:
Does the bale automatically flips shut or do u have to manually bring bale over
Answer: The bail flips smoothly flips over immediately at the first turn of the handle.
Answer: Its hard to flip it shut but it will . I always close my bails by hand when the line goes slack .
Answer: It’s AUTOMATIC and a very nice reel
Answer: It does but with any spinning reel you should flip it by hand. It will keep your line from twisting.
Answer: The bale closes one the handle is turned...or auto....
Answer: You can do it either way, i personally click em over manually
Q:
Can the handle side be changed
Answer: If you're asking about switching from left to right hand or the opposite, yes! It can. Just simply twist the knob on the opposite side of the handle to counterclockwise (open) and the handle should come off, "then change it".
Answer: Sure,it could be changed as your requirements
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes.
Q:

Answer: Handle folds - and can be switched from side to side.
Answer: Yes just loosen retaining screw from the other side and the handle folds up
Answer: Yes it does fold for storage.
Answer: You could unscrew it and remove it, It is threaded into the reel, but that is also what makes it feel so solid and tight. I highly recommend all Piscifun products, they are exceptional values and my go to reels.
Answer: Yes, I believe so. I ended up returning the reel I purchased.
Answer: No. It’s poor quality
Answer: No it does not !
Answer: No

Answer: It is shielded 10+1 stainless steel bearings, you could try.
Q:
Would this pair well with a 7 foot ugly stick for surf and bridge fishing? (We go to Florida once a year for a few weeks)Thanks!!!
Answer: It is a little small for bridge and surf fishing, I bought it for a 7.5ft st croix for backbay/offshore and it does not have the depth I was hoping for with regards to holding 15lb test
Answer: I use it in my acc crappie stik it’s very light and smoothe I had to order more
Q:
How does the 4000 compare to pfluger president
Answer: I don’t use a 4000 series reels but the 1000 viper seems to be as good as a Pfluger .
Answer: The Pfluger president cost more and I think it is a better reel but for the money Piscifun Viper X isn't a bad reel.
Answer: The pfluger reel is excellent. The piscifun reel is a little smother but I just started using them.
Q:
Will this reel stand up to spring chinook and summer steelhead? Looking at the 4000 series
Answer: In my camper, listening to the 2:00 am rain on the Hoh River in the Olympic National Park. Here fishing for the big wild, winter run Steelhead. Can’t honestly say how well the Viper 4000 will do on the summer runs. I do have faith that it can handle the job though! It was the reel I used all day, yesterday! No strikes... typical for the fish of a thousand casts!
Answer: I don’t see why not. However, I’d be more inclined to purchase the Carbon X from piscifun if you want a drag system that can stand up to the long hard runs big Chinooks are notorious for.
Q:
Is this reel saltwater approved?
Answer: The reel could be used in saltwater, but please clean in time after using in saltwater。
Q:
does the 4000 have the power knob on handle??
Answer: I don't know about the 4000, but the 500 does not. Also, the 500 doesn't have the lever to put it in free spool. It's not a bad reel, but not in the same class as a Shimano or Daiwa.
Answer: The reel has a power knob.
Answer: No it doesnt.
Q:
what are the dimensions of the reel
Answer: They are the same size as a Shimano 2500 . Don't waste your money these reels are not worth the money. My first hour of using this reel it started to feel like the bearings have flat spots in them . Started out smooth got rougher the more I used it, got to the point where I quit using it altogether.
Answer: There are 6 different size Reels. 500 1000 2000 3000 4000 5000 models. 500 being the smallest ultra lite type reel.
Answer: Weight depends on the size (see Piscifun's chart). I'm not sure how much the size of the reel changes between sizes. I have the 2000 size -- it's the only Viper that I have actually seen.
Q:
I see the frame is graphite, when mounted on the rod and reeling under tension does reel have flex? Hate when a reel does that.
Answer: No it doesn't flex . I have caught a 10 pound catfish and many large and small mouth bass up to 6 pounds and the reel never flexed I also have the reel on a heavy/medium rod . Also make sure the drag is not too tight cause when I got mine it would be very hard to flip it closed with the handle
Answer: Please no worries, the intensity of graphite is enough to keep it as normal, the reel would not flex.
Answer: I found that there was no flex in the reel when fishing.
Answer: Mine does flex, but not so much that I have found it to be a problem.
Q:
Does this one have a reverse lock
Answer: 2000、3000、 4000、and 5000 have reverse lock
Q:
Which model is best for big catfish?
Answer: Anything over 15 pounds I think personally would be better on a 3 or 4
Q:
What is the line capacity of the 5000 reel?
Answer: Mono line capacity 14lbs/230yds 18lbs/yds 20lbs/185yds. Braid Capacity 40lbs/260yds 45lbs/240yds 50lbs/230yds
Answer: It is 40lbs Braid at 260 yards or 14lb Mono at 230 yards. Hope that helps!
Q:
Would the 4000 with mono be good for largemouth bass
Answer: On a balanced rod, with mono or braid plus a leader, the 4000 ought to work well for tossing pretty heavy lures and weighted live bait to largemouth bass. I'd prefer braid in heavy cover; but, the reel itself (on a balanced rod) ought to work well. I have the 2000 loaded with 6 lb fluorocarbon for fishing for largemouth now -- no heavy cover here in Michigan yet!
Answer: Yes, the 4000 with mono could used for larege mouth bass. But the 2000 and 3000 is much better.
Answer: Absolutely. I use it for catfish, so that reel will definitely handle largemouth.
Answer: I would recommend the 2000. It is all you will need. 10 lbs.
Answer: I would go with the 3000 model.
Answer: Yes, it would be fine.
Q:
What kind of rod do you recommend with either a 4000 or 5000 for saltwater fishing?
Answer: I purchase the 1000 reel.
Q:
Can i just buy the screw that holds the handle on . I bought this reel its awesome but lost that part?
Answer: Please be free to contact us through your order. One of our colleague will take good care of you.
Answer: I would think so if you contacted Piscifun online, you could probably order one. I'm not sure though.
Q:
Which reel would be best for inshore trout fishing?
Answer: I think that it makes more sense to focus first on the rod that would be suitable for the sort of fishing that you want to do, and then select a reel that balances well with the rod. My view.
Q:
Is this reel good for crappie fishing ?
Answer: I have used this in the 1000 and 2000 size with 8 lb test and caught many crappies and other panfish. The reel is very smooth and has great drag adjustability. I hope this helps.
Answer: I got the 4000 size for spinners, for Steelhead. It is a beautiful reel, smooth and solid! I imagine a smaller size would be more suited to crappie. I love mine and wholeheartedly recommend it!
Answer: It is a great reel for all types of panfish.
Answer: Yes! It will handle crappie no problem. You can land some big fish with it.
Q:
Does this one have a reverse lock?
Answer: No
Q:
All the viper reel models are pretty much saltwater tolerable right?
Answer: Vipper X has increased Waterproof performance including the one way clutch bushing, one way clutch plate, stainless steel washer and shielded stainless steel bearing, prevents water and dirt from entering the house.
Product reviews of Piscifun Viper X Spinning Reel - Ultralight 5.2:1/6.2:1 High Speed Fishing Spinning Reel, 10+1BB, Carbon Fiber 33 LB Max Drag, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 Series
Todd Bell : Smooth like warm butter
I have 5 Piscifun spinning reels. 2 Flames, 1 Honor XT, 1 Carbon X and now this reel, the Viper X. I mainly fish for crappie and love to shoot those tiny jigs under docks then slowly retrieve back in. So with that slow retrieve, I need a reel that is butter smooth and light weight. All my Piscifun reels have preformed as expected. Is the Flame, a 25 dollar reel, as smooth as the Carbon X, a 70 dollar reel, no, as expected comparing price points. The Honor XT is right there in comparison with the Carbon X. When I seen the Viper X I wanted to give it a try. Now based on the price range I did not expect it to perform nor be as smooth as the higher end reel, but amazingly enough, it does. I have the 1000 series Viper X. It's very light and balances well with the dedicated dock shooting rod I have it paired with. Retrieve is butter smooth on that slow retrieve so there is no interference with feeling even the slightest tick from a finicky crappie. The only issue I had on initial use was the antireverse bearing would not engage every time, but after an hour or so it cleared up and worked flawlessly. Now given it was 35 degrees with a reel that had never been spun I'm sure the temperature was the factor in that issue and it is of no concern to me. So if you are looking for a reel that won't break the bank and want the performance of a higher end reel the Viper X will work great for you.
Don Calderon : Worth every penny !!!
This a great reel for the money !!!! I have reel in some big fish on it ....
Adam Frlekin : The X is for Excellent.
Ever wish you were a snake and could just strike at a fish at will??? Well, since we can’t be snakes, I’ve found Piscifun’s Viper X spinning reel to be the next best thing! (Match it with a Piscifun Serpent pole and, oh my rod, you might as well be a snake!). It cast smooth and reels in like butter. Handled every fish I caught like a champ.
If you’re looking for a new spinning rod, Piscifun Viper X is definitely a fantastic option.
Tight lines, my friends.
Mr. Green : My new best reel
So far, so good. Smooth reel with the extra bb. My new best reel.
Ordered another, a 5000, one for 30lbs braid.
JSREY : Worked good for the 20 mins….
Worked great for the first 20 minutes then it started making a clicking sound and stopped pivoting up and down and got stuck up so the line was only spooling on the lower half of the spool.
J_Flipz : Well built quality but heavy when compared to a high end brand
For an off-brand, the quality of the reel isn't too bad. Reeling it isn't as smooth as the Shimano Sienna FG if comparing to price range. The weight is heavier too. If you're looking for a light weight, smooth retrieve, and low cost I would suggest going with the Shimano Sienna FG ($30 retail if in stock).
skeetshtr : Not a good value
Overall a decent little reel with one glaring issue. The drag is really bad. If I back the drag off so it will give line the spool is almost falling off and if I tighten it up some the drag binds and will not give line and the braid on the spool digs into the line below it .No setting between to loose and to tight. Might work better with larger mono but not a good reel for the 6lb Daiwa J-braid 8 I spooled it with. My forth Piscifun reel and my last as I have discovered they have no customer service .Reached out and E-mailed the customer service department five days ago and called the warranty/repair center also . No reply from either. Guess my only option is to return it.
James Dupuis : Worth the money
Went with the Viper X 1000 reel, this thing was capable of pulling in a monster. Just spooled on some 10lb braid, and went to the pond to try it out. Added a live worm and waited, the reel freakin started screaming. Very happy with the way this reel feels, and the drag is amazing. I love this purchase.
PlainsVoice : Verrrry good value.
I was curious about this reel to pair w a 6’ 9” ML rod. Smooth, handles line appropriately, decent drag and casts well. I’ve already caught numerous large smallmouth w no issues. Definitely a Best Buy. Honestly I had to keep looking at it because it performs as well as much more expensive reels. I have a lot of reels and this is on par, so far, w reels over $100 from big brands.
Ronda J. : Gifted item
He likes it
fishead : Lightweight
Great reel for ice fishing
ching808 : Works well
Fast retrieve and smooth drag. Haven't hooked up anything more than 3lbs yet though will do the job when it happens. ????
Rico Martinez : 100 series is perfect ultralight setup !
Wow this is a great little real. I purchased this reel as a microlight set up. The reel is super light but has a punch I can cast a mile and pull in the big ones. I pulled in a decent size bass and some trout. The reel is smooth. I recommend this reel.
RON : Best bang for your buck.
Solid reel! Light weight. Great quality. Silky smooth. Fast spin! Purchased the 5000.
Stefanie Moore : Great reel
Great price
Retha Riley : Smooth spinning reel. Highly recommended.
Love the power handle.
Steven Mull : Awesome grip and drag to haul in huge Crappies
I got the Viper x 500 ultra light reel for panfish and trout. I went out and tried to get some catfish at a local spot, but we struck out. I ended up going to a friend's farm pond and caught 23 crappie, and 27 bluegills. Had a blast with this reel spooled with 6 lb test line. This little reel can haul in some monsters.
CPT VAUGHN DILLE : Unacceptable - Bail Would Not Close
After opening the bail to cast, any attempt to close the bail by reeling in was impossible . . . the bail was stuck open, and only by manually closing the bail would it work properly. I returned this reel and bought a Pflueger reel instead.
Ryan Repke : Best in class 10/10
I live in Minnesota and fish a lot. I test a lot of different fishing products and this reel rates best in class. I purchased it for icefishing. Two big selling points for this reel is the weight and price. You will not find a better reel for a cheaper price, I guarantee that. Piscifun spinning reels are 1 step ahead of the competition. The carbon x and viper x are the REEL DEAL.
E. Rehm : Great bang for your buck.
Very light and smooth. Has actually gotten smoother as I've used it.
Brent Todd : Nice reel!!!
Caught 3 nice small largemouth bass with it the first day i used it, Held up well, tested against being snagged 3 times that day also, no issues whatsoever, that it was bigger but oh well, casts and retrieves NICELY!!!
L. A. Gliba : Even better than the original!
I was looking to retire my Piscifun Storm 2000 that had many miles on it with something a little newer. I started looking at what Piscifun had to offer in a 3000 size reel. I was familiar with the Viper line from the original that I got for my son that he uses still, in the 5000 for trolling for salmon to the Viper II 3000 that I have for surf fishing in the ocean. To my surprise they have a new version.... The Viper X, with how great the past models are, especially at the price point I figured I'd give it a shot. I ordered the 3000 for the heavier line capacity since I'll be using it throwing spinners for salmon in the upper river. I have got to say, some how the Viper X is smoother than the buttery smooth Viper II I have. Quality and feel is on point with what I've come to expect from Piscifuns reels. I've switched all my reels over and only ever had one issue with a reel. I contacted customer support and they shipped me put a new reel to replace the defective one. They were quick to respond and even quicker to remedy the issue. I've got no worries at all with the new one even considering it will have occasional saltwater use.
Kathy : Easily worth the money
This is a great reel, especially for the money. Showed up with a dent on the foam paddle from it being pressed against another part during shipping. They completely understood and promptly sent me another full handle for no cost. Great customer service is all I can say. Time to go catch some fish with this baby!
Justin : STEAL!!!
Hands down one of the best up and coming brands of fishing equipment and easily one of the best priced reels in its class. Landed 7 large mouth biggest being over 3lbs first day out with it had 0 issues!! Drag is great baring quality is great highly recommended!
Will link my YouTube product review when it’s done if anyone is interested!
Michael tomlinson : Not very durable
First one was messed up out of the box, drag screw is off center going red fishing this evening so piscifun failed me this time hopefully the replacement is better.... ill borrow a buddys reel and rod this evening. .. but now I have to go through all the rigamarow return crap and I had already spooled it with line before finding the failure..????????????????
mike bussart : Panfish
Have not had a chance to use the reel yet and that is the reason for no rating on durability so rating is based off of product arriving quickly and as advertised. The reel seems to be well made and is very light. I think it is going to serve it's intended purpose well which is crappie fishing.
Mr. Green : My new best reel
So far, so good. Smooth reel with the extra bb. My new best reel.
Ordered another, a 5000, one for 30lbs braid.

Matthew S. : Only 1 Problem...
This is a great real, at a decent price. I have brought it kayaking on multiple day journeys and it has survived the harsh saltwater environment. The drag is real smooth and precise, and I picked this reel for 1 reason. The vast majority is anodized and not chrome plated. The chrome plating is always the first to go when exposed to the elements. That brings my one gripe, around where the handle screws in is a plastic/chrome plated ring. This of course after one trip has already lost most of its gold plating and is now just white plastic. If this could be a piece of anodized aluminum or even just a black piece of plastic I would love this reel. Regardless, I haven't seen any better options for the price.

Chester Bigelow : An excellent reel with a very smooth action
It fits my ultralight rod perfectly. I would have like a bit more line capacity but I think it will be fine
Tile guy : Great for the money
This is a good real. I boogered up my penn spinfisher and the part I needed was back ordered. So I ordered this. I was way more pleased with this reel than I thought I’d be. I’m not saying it’s better than the spinfishers but at 1/4 of the cost it’s really hard to beat.
Adam Frlekin : The X is for Excellent.

David Jason Tisch : 60 walleyes caught reel works flawlessly
My sons new favorite walleye reel
Amazon Customer : Great compact real with power and smoothness and balance.
It looked great right out of the box. The stem of the real (not too long) fits nicely on my rod, sturdy blail along with smooth casting and winding. Exactly what I have been looking for. A small powerful reel to catch the small ones along with some of the big ones. I'm using 6 pound mono, only wish it came with an extra spool to load with 10 pound braid. Otherwise great reel.
john hill : Good price spinning reel
I have only used the reel one time now. I had loaded the 300 model with 15 lb bread line. I was fishing for trout and reds. I caught a few trout on this reel most we're around 16 to 17 inches. The reel cast far and the retrieve is smooth. I will give an update in a few weeks on its durability being i have issues with one of there baitcaster.
LONNIE MOON : Not the best for the money
At first sight the reel looks nice...but the handle when tightened is still loose..the reel puts too much line at the bottom of the spool with No washers used under it. For the price the okuma adventure and the okuma ceymar is a better quality reel...this reel could be made with better quality control
James Dupuis : Worth the money

Bob Hunt : Not worth it
When I cast out you can’t just start reeling and it pops in place. You have to either reel extremely hard or you have to manually press doen the metal bar then reel in after your cast. Definitely wasn’t the best money spent for a reel
Brittany : Smooth, sleek, durable fishing reel
Received my reel and I'm impressed with how smooth the gears are and how durable it is. Compatible with braid, mono, and fluorocarbon, the spool is textured to prevent the line from slipping. Aesthetically the black and green look great together! I can't wait for my next walleye fishing trip to put it to the true test!

Man this reel is amazing for the price! I will be buying several more!
Lee H. : Almost perfect for the money
I like value of the reel it really is a great reel there's only one thing I'm worried about the hence I took 1 star off because every time I cast the reel it literally feels like I'm breaking the reel to tighten the line and it sounds like I'm breaking it I started manually closing it and it still sounds bad so I have a little fear of how long it will last
Janine &Chris M : Descent reel but its got a clunk n grind must have a bad gear.
Nice drag but clunks n grinds when u reel it
Eddie X : Just buy it already.
I recently purchased this reel on a whim because it was low price, had a great review from wired2fish and I was also chatting it up with another fisherman and he said he liked the piscifun reel he bought.
While I can't speak to the long term durability, the performance of the reel so far is astounding. Right out of the box I love the sound of the drag and the fact that it has micro adjustments unlike other budget reels.
Tonight I got to see the drag in action when a 4.65# catfish took my bait. I was running 2# monofilament line. I need no more convincing. The drag was smooth and did not fail me. I was confident playing the fish until it was tired out.
Save yourself some money and get yourself a nice reel. Piscifun deserves a lot of credit for the delivery of a high performing reel at this price.
