Is this approved for saltwater?

Answer: Approved for Salt Water? Who would approve it? I use it in the Pacific Ocean rock cod fishing and have no problem with it. Works fine.

Answer: yes, I had it on a salmon rod, removed it after few months because of sometimes it slipped into free spoil when reeling in fish. get the Okuma

Is this reel worth the money and is it durable out on big open water for heavy planing , trolling for big fish

Answer: I have the 30 reel and it seems to be holding up very well. Unlike a Penn I bought the first of the season. It is already binding up on me. This reel is not top of the line but it does the job for bottom fishing and other fairly light fishing along the shore up to 150-250 feet. In fact I just ordered a second as the price is great for the size of reel. Yes it is worth the money so far.

Answer: Yes it is worth the money; I fish in the ocean but it's bottom fishing; do not do catch anything over 50 lbs. but so far I am very pleased.

Answer: depends on which one you buy

Answer: The tb 300 is 4:2:1 But the other sizes are diff

Answer: The 2000 is 5:6:1

Answer: Star drag so set it as you desire. Have not had any problems.

What is the difference between the 3000 or 4000 reel?

Answer: Size/ line capacity. Drag is the same

Can you put 40 pound line in this reel？

Answer: yes, I put 300 yards of 40# mono on mine

Answer: Yes, I have put 50lb braided line on mine and have caught some really nice rock cod here in California since buying this reel.

where is this reel made?

Answer: China, if you read all the information on the page. Non the less a very good reel. Been using it fishing for Mahi and Marlin in Baja.

Answer: China. can be mistaken with Sugiyama which are Japanese.

Butch in KY : Awesome value, best bang for the buck.

First impressions are very good. This reel handled a 70# blue cat on 85# test braid just fine. The drag is very smooth and very aggressive. I've never owned a reel with this much stopping power. This fish took drag with it locked down pretty tight and I thought my rod was going to snap! It only went a few feet and changed it's mind though. That's what I wanted to keep these big cats from going into bad places and busting off. Time will tell but you can't buy anything close to this reel at this price point. Yes, it's big, it's heavy, it's loud but it's "BadAss". Kind of like the person that would appreciate it..............

Fast shipping and well packaged. Comparable packaging to any other high end real I've bought. This reel seems well built, smooth drag, loud clicker, good housing.

It reminds me a lot of my Penn Squal reel. Touch later and a touch heavier but same feel and layout.

In reference to this manufacturer , spent much time & effort reviewing these chinese reels. They have in the past evidently made a bunch of krap. I needed a reel to get me through kingfish season & did not want to spend a ton.
I ordered the 400 series & did some measurements & thought maybe too big & it was but shortly after ordering I bought the 300 series just right. Won't put my company to the world but have been a reel repair man 40 years , could not wait to take apart . I was slightly impressed. Everything inside was as stated , unbelievably there was a little grease & some oil. Drag very smooth , has a diawa style anti reverse dog , solid main gear stem like shimano but engineered better - shimanos wear me out good reels lots parts. backing plate plastic which is ok. small penn rod clamp set fits fine - did not come with nor did I expect. Lil slop in worm but can tighten up with a shimano part - I like what I have now, serviced my way Bet I get 4 or 5 seasons this reel. Yep the 3 year warranty wont help as cat out of bag - for $48.00 i" m all in will have back together soon & line it up & fish it tuesday. I like this reel - nice color combo. did not rate a 5 don't want this co. get a big head - if it fails will let ya know but think will last just fine & even longer now serviced out of box !

I bought 4 of these reels at the same time to do some catfishing but letting line out and reeling line in with or without a fish on is cumbersome. The line guide is loose and at times doesn't work at all so all my line bunches on one side of the spool. This is definitely a design flaw with this model because all 4 of my reels do this. I bought 4 spinning reels from this same manufacturer and I am hoping I don't have issues with them as well. Not a happy customer with this product.

We are planning a trip to Baja Mexico to fish for Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna and the famous Dorado. I was looking for a couple of reels to replace my very old Penn reels. Read the review on the Trout Boy 500 Deep Sea Reel, many were how much people like to use them.
I bought two, and as I unboxed them; I can see the quality of the reel, put 100 yds. of 60 lb. mono and then 600 yds. of RUNCL 60lb. braided line. Looking forward to hooking some fish and reeling them in.
I will post a review after the trip and tell you how the reels did.

Ok here is a review after two months of fishing Mahi and Marlin.
The reel does well on small Mahi, but Marlin not built for that. The reel does not sit very well on the rod. As you can see in the photo to much sun light. So the reel rocks back and forth way to much especially when fighting a large Mahi and medium size Marlin. So your fighting a fish as it jerks around making it difficult to reel in a fish.
Yes we have it on very tight, the other rod and reel set up has the same problem.
Also the drag on these are ok, I have come to dislike the star dial and the tension knob.
Yes they reeled in some nice fish, but not my favorite reel as I had hoped. Also when you go to product support on the Amazon product support page it comes up as not found. I guess they know that these reels will not last.

I was unsure whether a modestly priced reel like the Sougayilang TB4000 could take the abuse of reeling in a big sturgeon, but it performed beautifully. It casts farther than any of my other reels, and with a gear ration of 4.5:1, it retrieves quickly ensuring I do not get hung up on the rocks. The drag is smooth and allowed me to fight the 6ft sturgeon above with ease. I have caught several other sturgeon on this reel and it is still performing like it did out of the box. I highly recommend this reel.
