Looks like 1rod1reel holds the new title of number 1bass fishing channel on YouTube
NDYakAngler will always be my #1
I like plenty but something about his speaks to me. It not just educational, you feel like you're there.
My vote goes to BamaBass or The BassinGuy.
1rod1reel is from my area hes got some good vids
I think John B is making the most quality vlogs and tutorials soon to climb to #1 fishing the Midwest
How do you see who is #1?
I am guessing with my 90 subscribers so far, I have to be near the top (that's a joke).
i would rather read an article than watch a video myself so i never even watch youtube channels or whatever they are called...I am impatient and can read the articles faster than they can talk and show it to me
Jon B is good too, his editing has gotten really good over the past year or so. I think 1rod1reel appeals to more of the younger youtube savvy generation, nothing against him though.
Flair just annoys me, not sure why.

What? You don't want to watch a half hour video of someone opening their latest Mystery or Lucky Tackle Box?
I'm always surprised Tacticallbassin' doesn't have more subscribers.
I've always figured these guys have hired a scuba diver with a sack full of lunkers.
Matt Allen was rated #1 on the "Kramer's Top 40 California Bass Fishermen's List' of 2015. That's ahead of Brent Ehrler, Skeet Reese, Ish Monroe, and Cody Meyer. Tim little was rated #11, and broke the world record for spotted bass at 10 lb.6 oz.
These guys know what they're doing.
I quit watching the LTB mafia a while ago.
LakeForkGuy is pretty cool, always has some good videos.

No offence to those who watch the opening of these boxes but that really doesn't do anything for me and really is one of the quickest ways to get me to go to the next YouTube channel. I have my subscription and usually get mine before they get a video up anyway.

I do enjoy most of his videos.
Seriously though where are the rankings of best channel for bass fishing?
Maybe I should start a channel.
It would be a lot like Bill Dance's blooper reels, mixed with brief moments of high drama, a lot of swearing, and then hours of silence. Should be a hit.

I'd watch it. I enjoy the channels of guys that are just fishing. I can't stand the ones of guys fishing and talking nonstop like they just like to hear themselves talk.
I found LakeForkGuy before anybody else. His videos easily win the category for all around best fishing action. And he seems to have experience with a little bit of everything, from Tournaments, to kayak bassin', to tutorials, to cool underwater cinematic shots.

Your the top in my book......
I didn't realize that it was a contest. I say, the more people posting videos the better. More to watch and learn.
I like zoffinger. He does saltwater fishing though but is still really cool to watch.

I agree. that fluke guy ends up saying "I" a little too many times for my attention, a little self absorbed for when you are watching to learn something and the focus is accomplishments or embellishments. 1r1r has some good videos, and looks like he has a blast with his videos.
And yes, the ltb/mtb mafia has made many of these channels commercials, some good, some bad. I still watch until it gets "meh", then I go elsewhere
I will say his videos haven't been as good since he's gotten all his sponsors.
So you think sitting at home watching internet videos is going to make you a better fisher man. I only watch it adds
I watch all these guys. Glenn may, tackle junky, *, onerodonereel, fishing the midwest, fishing with flair, bigbassmastersone, lunkerstv etc. They all have their strengths. Tacicalbassin is probably the most informational and in depth- but there not a lot of new videos being posted. A lot of other people are posting more content, which gives me something to watch during the winter but not nearly as informational. But everyone is looking for different things, entertainment, education, a mix of both, etc. I like to watch educational videos so Glenn has always been my favorite, regardless of the number of subscribers. Lunkerstv is a great channel I just found a close second.
Mikeybalzz fishing.
John B definitely wins when it comes to video editing. He talks a little too much, but if you're posting as many videos as he does then you're gonna have to do a lot of talking. You don't always catch enough fish to make a good video so you have to fill it in somehow.
I like the SKARFishing channel. He focuses on Susquehanna river fishing but also fishes local lakes.
So I was watching one of those guys on youtube, I think fishing with flair, and he not only announced he was going to start having his own pro staff of fisherman but coming out with his own line of clothing. Huh? This is too freaking much. Spring is coming and I can feel a great unsubscribing taking place in a few weeks with my youtube account. Still, YouTube beats the cable TV fishing shows pretty easy.
I can't stand Mike aka. 1rod1reel. He's not very informative or knowledgeable at all. He's always over exaggerating everything and it gets on my nerves quickly. Add in his lisp and it makes his voice intolerable.
On 2/28/2016 at 10:36 AM, Big C said:I'm always surprised Tacticallbassin' doesn't have more subscribers.
Absolutely. 1Rod is cool if you're 17, and Matt & Tim show you how to consistently get a 15lb bag.
They're about the only ones I follow on YouTube.
+1 matt and tim. They catch hawgs...all....day....long...
Gene is a professional youtuber he earns a living making video's and makes more money and gets more sponsers with more subs.
I don't care what the statistic says on who is "number 1" on youtube.
1rod1fish is popular among kids (more free time), and it is primarily reason his ranking is so high. He hosted few subscriber tournaments which I don't think you can just go out and host without formal approval process (different topic). Most adults are not spending hours watching youtube video.
Okay if we are gonna talk about bassin youtubers, let's talk about keepinitreel fishing. The dude does rediculously meticulous in depth reviews on lures. Which is awesome in my book. Kevin Bullington also has a lot of reviews out there on lures.

I don't mind the lisp as he probably can't help it but agree with everything else.
I don't think anybody does it as well as Matt and Tim from T.acticalBassin
Westbred Diamond and Crappie Killa have some pretty informative videos.
Edited by iabass8Well, nobody has mentioned brendons fabulous world of fishing, he gained more subs in a month than any other fisherman i have seen, went from 5-6k the begining of last year to 22-23k this year. His vids are really good!

He's another one I can't stand. Probably because he's so young. However, he does try to teach the best that he can and I appreciate what he does. He's one that seems to cater to the pre-teen aged fishermen.
One I like the fishing part of but don't want to watch because of the long intro and breaks is ExtremeAnglerTV. I think Karl is a good guy just way to much fluff on some of his videos turns me away.
Also this guy is funny Uncle Steve adamitshelanu but he does like fishing.
Lately I have been watching kayakbassfishing and BR's very own smalljaw. Both very good.

Had a FT job. He quit it so he could pursue his YT channel FT. Bear in mind he and his wife have 4 kids to feed and clothe.
So, yes, he's a professional youtuber.

Couldn't agree more. If I watch one of his videos I have to mute it.
i kayak fish myself, but at that i can't take Chad Hoover's videos. So full of himself, just puts out videos just to do so. Makes no sense a lot of times, just nearly un-viewable.
a while back, I saw a clip of a video of 3-5 "professional youtubers" that kinda turned me off of fluke. it was him and like 3 or 4 "kids" all talking about how much work a youtube channel is and blah blah blah..... wait til they get a real job.... not for me.
i haven't seen a lot of these guys that are mentioned here, but will have to check them out.
I like a lot of fishing youtube channels but I personally enjoy John B of FTMW the most

I like that young kid too. Genuine humor and a pinch of frugality that I find refreshing. But then I saw the click to support notation on the side of the screen. Like so many do now. Amazed to hear that folks can make a living at this but then today I was told that there is a professional pickle ball association and people are professional pickle ballers!!!!! Making money. Not to be the salty Mr. Negative that I am but I find it hard to support a youtuber or just accept that someone can be a professional pickle baller. But then I still have a hard time accepting that people can make millions driving in a circle or wearing tights and slapping butts on a Sunday afternoon too.
John B is the best.. 1 rod is way to immature for youtube... O MAN THATS A BIG BASS.. o wait its just a 14 incher sorry guys it felt bigger lol
I like Glenn's videos. I don't like the videos with the screaming music, etc., but then again I'm 48 yrs old. If a video with screaming guitars helps a young person find a great, lifelong hobby.....more power to them. I like videos that actually teach me something. I don't really care about seeing someone catch a fish in slow motion with pounding drums and "drama". But if you do...knock yourself out.

I think this sums it up.
Brendan's are good. Some are more stories rather than actual instructional videos. They definitely appeal more to younger folks.
* is fun to watch, but them being from Cali and me being from Central IN makes it tough to relate. I could fish these waters all my life and not catch fish they frequently catch. Throwing a 12in swimbait would be hilarious around here.
Right now my favorite is the British father and son team Totally Awesome Fishing Show. I think the father is actually a pro fisherman, used to write for magazines and has some older DVD's out (I think for the British/Euro market) on big game fishing. He's not into the rods or reels much, more into actually getting out there and throwing those lures or live bait. Also, he does mostly bank fishing.
KeepinItReelFishing... it's all in the name.

I never laughed so hard when at the end of his video on catching two ten pound bass at one time he toasted his "pre rap" (music) Wigglewart with a flame thrower and then caught the boat on fire. Most of the video was slapstick but the end was pure hilarity.

Didnt he mention his wife works as well in one of his videos? I don't know any of them but if he is supporting a wife and 4 kids off of YouTube this world is way more messed up than I thought. Maybe it is paying that good but I sure hate that one kid will watch this and will inevitably quit their school/career on some whim they can make a living making YouTube videos.
I am not saying he isn't doing the supporting but I have seen many a situation where the other party in the marriage is working their ass off while the other one plays. I hope this isn't the case as 4 kids college $ is not going to be easy or cheap to come by.

That what we were discussing Glenn made that comment here at the top of this page.
I like them all pretty much except 1rod he doesn't know enough to be trying to teach people how to fish. He'd do a lot better if he took the time to learn bass fishing maybe look at these forums as they are the best teaching tool I've ever come across. I learned everything I know by reading every article and forum on here.
1rod1reels videos kinda suck.... Very little information and cringeworthy at times. Seems like a weird guy. Very nice, but weird. Every fish he catches is huge until he gets it within 4ft. Ever get tired of hearing "Lets go!"
Jon B from FTMW is my new favorite. Very informative and he puts production value into his videos. Seems like a cool guy.
I'm happy all these guys are putting out such quality content for FREE. I applaud all of them for spending their time and money doing it. When I was 15 (35 now) and first started fishing the only way I learned anything about fishing was from magazines and watching LIVE fishing shows. Someitmes you could pick up tips from guys at sporting goods stores, but they didn't know anything beyond the basics. Having access to all this information would have been life changing back then.
The deep well of instructional videos on youtube is such a great tool that really can make people better anglers almost instantly. I find myself watching a lot of videos for fishing techniques and species that I know I'll never ACTUALLY fish simply because I can.

I only started fishing at 35 and didn't know a single person who fished. Without youtube videos I would have never figured out how to cast properly (not that I still don't mess it up about 2/3 of the time) and likely would have gotten discouraged and quit. I still far far prefer reading a well written review or set of instructions but for some things there is really no replacement for seeing how something is done.

There are many wannabees making videos, most of whom will never make anything but noise. There will always be kids quitting school to do something at which they will not likely succeed, although some of the most successful people have done just that. I am still a little baffled by this whole internet thing, but I am not sure the world is anymore messed up because of it.

In the fishing world, 100k is a lot of subscribers. In the actual "professional youtuber" world of getting paid to make videos, it's a drop in the bucket and pedestrian at best. You can (I don't agree with it but they found a loophole so whatever) make a ridiculous amount of money making youtube videos but those people have millions upon millions of subscribers and put out videos at a much higher . Here's a link that will make you sick at how much money these guys make doing very little. I'm not sure if it says more about the people watching or making them.

in fishermen....lots of species besides bass , those guys know how to fish anytime, anywhere, any fish
If that is true I couldn't do that to my daughter and I only had one child. College is not cheap! I couldn't fathom satisfying my personal desire/dream at the expense of four kids college education. I would classify that as selfish (if indeed that is a accurate description). Or putting that much stress on my wife to be the one to carry that burden of financial responsibility.
Of course if granddaddy is footing the bill or inheritance I guess that is a different story. But I never did want or use my parents as a financial crutch. I wouldn't have felt like I was doing my job taking care of my family.
Of course that is my opinion and I do not know the details of his situation. Not trying to bash as people are different. In today's world many apparently don't see a problem with mommy and daddy raising a 40 yr old mans kids. Or dumping the responsibility on their partner. Or taking money from the government to get a free ride. Really sad from a old school mentality.
iabass8 I see what your saying. I just feel that a "professional" YouTube is about as likely to happen as a high school kid making the NFL a career. Everyone has dreams and aspirations but reality is in there somewhere. I wonder how many actually make a living at YouTube vs how many people are actually making YouTube videos.
I didn't post this topic to bash anyone! I keep up with all my channels and was pointing out the competition on bass channels I'm subbed to one rod one reel and lake fork guy and Jon b and a heck of a lot of other bass fishing channels. These guys are very professional and know what there doing they make a decent living otherwise they wouldn't be doing it. I don't think that we should judge ppl for what they choose to do for a living, there is nothing better for a man to do than to find enjoyment in his hard work.

Many here are not judging, voicing their own opinion and criticisms of youtuber or videos. Maybe we need a dictionary link for word definitions here? Many get butt hurt about criticisms of their "products", yes a video is a product....and cry "judgemental", and take it personal. They need to get over it and learn the difference....
If you can't criticize a product, you sure can't rave about it either. What's the difference? Perspective. Feeling don't matter.

I guess your rite. Each of the channels are a brand of there own and they put themselves out there just like any other sponsored fisherman. The criticism and different opinions is part of why we have these threads and forums.
none of this whole thread really said anything......but i did get a good list of more youtube channels to check out - thanks guys ! BTW - glenn's pretty good
Fishing the Midwest is good too. Tacklejunkie was a great reference when I got into doing maintenance on my reels. Some of you might actually be surprised how much money can be made from doing videos or streaming. There are people on Twitch who make $40K a month from revenue and donations just streaming while gaming and chatting with viewers.
Anyone here watch Brian McPherson? His bass fishing videos mainly feature him fishing small ponds and ditches, the type of water you find in your neighborhood. That sort of stuff appeals to me, and he seems to be informative and nice. He has some nice saltwater videos. I also like Brendan's Fabulous World of Fishing, another bankbeater channel.
