Your most impressive fishing streak? 2024

fishing user avatarKeithscatch reply :

I was thinking the other day about this and thought this would be an interesting thread. So what would you say is your most impressive streak in bass fishing? Could be number of fish caught in a row? number of days in a row? size of fish caught per year? whatever you think.

Here is mine:

I have managed to catch a 7lb bass or bigger every year since 1996. Last year I almost blew it. North Florida was tough for me as I moved here late 2004. Well, back in December I caught and boated an 8lb bass to keep this string going. That was close haha.

What is your best streak?

fishing user avatarSiebert Outdoors reply :

I break 5lbs every year but just cant break the 8+.

My most impressive would be about 15lbs from 3 fish in about 15-20 min.

I've had multiple 100+ bass days but most of those ranged 3lbs or less.

fishing user avatarBASS fisherman reply :

Funny you should ask.  Last Memorial day I was at an aunt's house in Ohio.  She has a small pond, I mean SMALL less than 1 acre, across the street from her house.  I fished it for almost 3 hours, and caught 17 bass ranging from about 5 inches, all the way up to several that were in the 2-3 lb range.  In the first 5 casts, I caught 5 fish.  One of the best holes I've found yet.  I have caught bigger bass, but this time was the funnest!

I am going to be there tomorrow, and hope to catch some nice bass, and take alot of pics too.  I'll post them either tomorrow night, or Saturday evening.

I have not had mine yet.  It starts this weekend!

Go Rinky Dink!   ;)

fishing user avatarPanamoka_Bassin reply :

I'm on a streak...a skunky streak...I haven't caught a fish in the last 3 serious trips, including today.  I'm gettin' kinda frustrated...

fishing user avatarMALTESE FALCON reply :

LAST SPRING I WAS WAITING TO HAVE MY SEAWALL REPAIRED, SO I COULDN'T PUT MY BOAT IN THE WATER. I WAS STUCK FISHING IN THE CANAL. I FIGURED I WAS GOING TO BE BORED CATCHING PANFISH. BOY WAS I WRONG! IN A 17 DAY PERIOD I CAUGHT 138 LARGEMOUTH RANGING FROM 1.5# TO 3.5#. AFTER LIVING HERE ALL THESE YEARS I NEVER KNEW THERE WERE THAT MANY BASS IN MY CANAL.

I HAD A DECENT SPRING THIS YEAR, BUT NOTHING LIKE LAST YEAR.

fishing user avatarTroutfisher reply :

I'd have to say in spring when I caught 10 LM bass anywhere from 1/5 of a lb up to around 2 lbs, all on topwaters and senkoes. ;) Spring is fishing time!

fishing user avatarBassassasin12 reply :

I went skunkless for two seasons in a row and a combined total days on the water of 95 until this season when I got my first skunk, with several to follow :-/.

fishing user avatarKU_Bassmaster. reply :

Ohhhhhhhhh ... Probably that time a couple winters ago when I would routinely catch a bass or two in the teens.  I also had one outing where I caught 2 ... yes that's right .... 2 New World records and was culling 8 lbers and 9 lbers in one tournament outing.  Unfortunately this was in my grandparents basement in Colorado when we were snowed in over Christmas break and I was playing PS2. :D

For real .... last year in March and April.  I caught my PB and my first and only double digit bass so far on Lake Fork.  So I got to cross that off of my "Life List".  #5 - Catch a double digit bass  Then came home back to my home waters and the prespawn frenzy was on.  I probably caught more bass either side of 5 lbs. in those to months than I had the rest of my fishing days combined.  (Not like I had that many 5lber's previously, but it seemed like I was catching bigger bass a consistent basis for those two months)  Then to top it off, the first bass I see on a bed on my home waters was a 8 lbs. 3 oz momma that took me two outings to catch.  I spotted her around sunset one night and casted to her for about an hour in the pitch black with nothing.  I came back sunrise the next morning and had her about noon. :-? ::)

fishing user avatarRaul reply :

I 'm on a slump now, bad karma for the past 2 years and broke my 10 year streak of at least one 10+ pound fish a year, the closest I was to 10 pounds the past year was 9.86 lbs. The truth is that it hasn 't been bad karma, I haven 't fished enough and my trips haven 't been on a regular basis.

fishing user avatarguest reply :

i fished 250 days in2005 and caught at least one bass each trip.  not one zero skunk day.

Don't feel bad, Raul. I haven't been able to catch a 7 pounder for the past 39 years! :-/

fishing user avatarbassclown reply :

i have not been skunked 1 time this year. i caught 3 bass that were all 3 lbers. each(2 were close to 4) in 3 casts to the same brush pile. kind of weird with the 3, 3, 3.

fishing user avatarCaptain Cali reply :

My best "streak" would have to be from this past August. Two trophy bass in 15 days. And a few 4-6 pounders thrown in there for fun.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

For me it was 1/08/05.

On the Tennesse River we generally catch a lot of "fish" and the poundage can be incredible, but they are not all bass. On this particular day I caught fifteen smallmouth, seven over 5 lbs. This was the biggest trip I had ever had and included my PB smallmouth.

The next Saturday, 1/15/05, I caught a new PB around 11:30 and my current PB an hour and a half later.

Those are the two smallmouth in my avatar.

fishing user avatarWay2slow reply :

Me and a friend caught 28 largemouth, just before and into daybreak.  The smallest was 6 pounds 9 oz's. the largest was 9 pounds 3 oz's.  The bulk of them were in the mid 7 pound size.   This was a long, long time ago though, when Clarks Hill lake was in it's prime.  I'm talking back in the 60's

The best recent trip was January two years ago, me, my son and my dad caught 63 strippers in three days and the major portion of them were 12 to 16 pounds and a couple of 20+ pounders.  All caught casting swim baits on 14# line, Curado reels and 7'MH rods, none were caught on live bait or trolling.  Could have caught many more with bigger tackle but it takes so dang long to get one of those things in on that light of tackle because the just pull so dang hard for so long.  Many times all three of us would have fish on.

We still on accasion get into schools of bass where we catch 20 - 30 in a short while but usually nothing larger than three pounds and most around 1 1/2 - 2.

fishing user avatarcart7t reply :

I've been catching a 5lber a year for at least 10 years now but this season has been the dryest I've had in years.  Other than a spring LOZ 4 day fling which itself didn't turn out that great, only one fish into the 5lb range, this is the worst fishing season I've had in years.  I'm getting excited if I hook a 15" legal fish these days.

ugghhh..

fishing user avatarFish Chris reply :

Most definately the year of 2002 ! I just could do no wrong ! Oh sure, I got skunked plenty of times, but I didn't care. At the end of 01', I had made a promise to myself, and all of my fishing buddies, that in 2002, I was "only" going to fish at places with lots of big bass, and I was "only" going to use  big fish techniques ! I knew I would get skunked a bunch, but I had finally gotten to the point that I truly believed, that if I did this, I would stick a bunch of big bass.... and maybe a few "really big" ones :-)

And I did ! In 2002, I ended up sticking 27 Largemouth Bass over 10 lbs, from 5 different lakes. Oh, and the icing on the cake was, that the 27th fish, my 16.5 lb'er, not only became my new PB at that time, but also earned me a check from (the now gone) Big Bass Record Club, for $5500 ! Some of that money bought me the PC I am sitting in front of right now, as well as the $500 camera I am still using to take all of the photos you see me post here on the forum :-)

Anyway, since then, I have only managed to get 7 or 8 DD's a year. And honestly, I don't know if I will ever top 27. It's doubful really, now that I have swung back to a more multi-species approach. But really, it's more important to me, that I stick just one Largemouth over 19 lbs, rather than 28 over 10 lbs anyway..... and that, I believe I will eventually do...... But first, my 40 plus Striper :-) ....er ' a 50 ? Well, first things first :-)

Peace,

Fish

Hey, i also have a hole like this about 4 minutes from my house. This pond is really small, i can hit one side of it from a cast of my rod standing on the other side. me and my buddy went there 1 day in the summer and caught some nice 3-4 pounders and some dinks. We tried it a couple times after that though and we didnt even get a strike. I think small ponds like this, the bass get finicky once caught, it never gets fished its private, but hell i dont care LOL. Ill only stop fishing there if the guy comes out with a shotgun sometime.   bass fisherman....why do you think the bass had lockjaw?...we used the same technique and everyhting, like 3 days later .stable conditions.. :D

This is a hard one.  For one thing, I don't think any streak I have is impressive compared to some of those already mentioned.  I've had some 100 fish days and some days where my five bass limit was around 20 lbs but those are things that many people have surpassed if they've fished awhile.  There is one day that I think stands out for me.  I don't remember the exact details because it occurred when I was 18.  My Dad and I were fishing in the middle of January.  Air temperatures were in the low 20s.  We caught over 20 bass in 3 or 4 hours between us.  These fish were mostly 2 - 3 lb'ers but we caught a few over 5 lbs and two of these broke 6 lbs.  We could hardly feel our fingers and we were very shocked that the fish were biting like they were.  I haven't had a winter fishing day like that ever again.

fishing user avatarbassclown reply :

that's a good fishing day for warm weather. it's downright great for the dead of winter. i'.ve never had that kind of winter fishing days
