I can say that without a doubt my 2 most successful lures are a weightless Senko held on by a 1" piece of hose and Ragetail Toads. I have caught more bass with these 2 lures than anything else.
A KVD Sexy Dawg (could be replaced with a Heddon Zara Spook) makes honorable mention. I've caught a ton on mine. If it wasn't so weedy where I fish it would probably replace the Ragetail Toad as one of my most effective lures. Fish just can't resist it.
What are your 2 most successful lures?
Jig, and probably.green pumpkin 6 inch lizard
3/8 oz. Jig and a stick style bait t - rigged or weightless are by far the best for me in my waters.
Norman lil n in spring craw by far has been my best. Followed by a tex rig 7" red worm
Bubble gum Trick Worm, Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw, black/sapphire.
But my fav's are Frog or anything topwater. Getting a good bite on the frog is the BEST feeling.
Texas rig and crankbait .
PowerTeam Lures 7" Finicky Tickler and 3.6" JP Hammershad.
Ribbon tail worm and Keitech Swing Impact FAT.
Texas Rig Rage Craw/Worms,
Senko/Fat Ika
Swim jig/ jerkbait (depending on season)
Jig and craw
First it was shakey head and drop shot, now the new BAIT is Texas rig.....
4-inch finesse worm. Whether that's weightless like I used to do or on a split shot or shakeyhead rig, I've caught hundreds of bass on a 4-inch finesse worm.
5-inch senko. Caught lots of fish on these, too.
5' stickbait
Black/blue jig
#1 goes to a 1/2oz white and chart spinnerbait with a silver willow leaf and bronze small colorado.
#2 is a Texas rigged creature bait.
I can cover a lot of water and depths with those 2 setups.
DT10
3/8oz. Chatterbait
Honorable mention: Cavitron
Rage Cut R
RI Skinny Dipper or Big EZ
Mike
Yum Dinger and XCS 100 Squarebill
My new fav is a t-rig z-craw California 420, catches fish in every situation. And a aurora black 115 gunfish is my go to for summer mornings
3/8 ounce white with willow leaf blade spinner bait
Zoom trick worm, watermelon red, t-rig weightless
A SK Rage Craw on a drop shot rig & a 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X Crankbait in Bluegill.
There's been a few weeks each of the past two season, that these have been the only 2 bait's I fished.
The bait below would have to get honorable mention as well.
A-Jay
Buzzbait and Z-POP
Super Fluke
Olive and black jig with Rage Tail olive and orange craw trailer.
Yamamoto Kut Tail, Molix Sator Worm
#1 is 4.5" Curly Tail Roboworm no question. It has been for the last 7 years.
#2 is a moving target for me but right now the Swing Impact is starting to take the 2 spot over. The fat rigged weedless or the standard on a Lethal Weapons II Swim Jig.
5" stick bait rigged multiple ways, followed closely by a 4"ish beaver style bait, also rigged multiple ways.
Squarebill Crankbait , followed closely by a 5/16 ounce War Eagle Mike McClelland Finesse Spinnerbait. I find that if I had to have one bait in all conditions it would probably be the War Eagle. It's setup lends itself to versatility.
1.Frog
2.PB&J 1/4 ounce jig
Football Jig and Rage Craw trailer and a T-Rigged Rage Lobster.
DT6
Swim jig w/paddle tail swim bait
This year I'd have to say a Jig and a shaky head.
-Spinnerbait
-Senko
Honorable mention: Inline spinners, Power Grub, t-rigged Scoundrel worm
This year on my river it's been 4" t-rigged YUM Dinger and 3" or 4" curly-tail grub on 1/8 ounce ball head.
Honorable mention: 3/16 ounce SK Bitsy Bug jig with Baby Rage Craw trailer.
I have to say a jig and a spinnerbait account for more bass for me than any other two. This year has been no exception.
Jig
Bladed jig
Senko and coffee tubes.
Not necessarily my favorite to fish, but by far the most productive.
Jim
BPS XPS Topnocker. Number 1. Discontinued.
Rebel BIGCLAW CRAWFISH crankbaits. Smaller ones in shallow rivers larger ones in lakes.

+1 on the Rebel Craws, especially in rivers. I even caught a striper on one.
Senkos and Fat Ikas

I love those Rebel cranks...the craw, frog, etc. Some of the few cranks I have confidence in. I don't really hear much about them these days, but they're great.
I rarely start a morning of Smallmouth fishing on the river without tossing a Rebel crank or topwater (CrickPopper or Hopper)....kind of a "secret" weapon for me I suppose.

Same here.... Usually unweighted stickbait.
Weighted t/rig craw/creature.
If you are defining success as numbers of fish the most successful baits I have used would be a weightless plastic (either a Senko, Fluke, or Caffeine Shad) or a texas rigged soft plastic like a 7 inch ribbontail worm or craw/creature. Also keep in mind I have been fishing these for many more years than some others baits and presentations.
Recently a drop shot has been killing it for me.
If success is measured off of bigger fish it would probably be a jig or topwater frog.
Spinnerbaits
Jig
Boring but produces
Senko - 330, 358, & 912.
Zoom Horny Toad
3/8 black blue jig is honorable mention with ultra vibe trailer or grande bass mega claws trailer depending on how much bulk and movement I want
~Jig
~Dropshot
- T-Rigged Rage Craw (pegged, claws dipped in chart. or red JJ's)
- RES
In the river: senkos and grub/jighead. In lakes: senko and fat ika
The rebel BIGCLAW CRAWFISH crank caught my PB 10lber.
Pretty much all I ever throw is a 3/8oz swimjig with a paddle tail trailer. If I'm not using that, its in the evening or morning and I'm using a buzzbait.
1. Jig and rage craw (prefer siebert dredge series in bama craw or summer craw)
2. Drop shot a trick worm in green pumpkin
This year my number 1 bait has been a 1/8 ounce watermelon jig with a craw trailer. Number 2 has been a chrome and black Pop-r.
3/8 ounce jig with sweet beaver trailer
1/4 ounce T-rig
Rebel BIGCLAW CRAWFISH dives to 10 feet. I'm fishing 9'/10' of water.
I spray it with craw scent and throw it out as far as I can in the open channel along side the weedline. Now i do a sweep back with the rod so it dives to 10'. Once it reaches bottom I reel it slow. Just fast enough so it bumps the bottom.
On rivers I let it float into the deeper pools around the rocks. I let the current take it over and around the rocks. Even a shallow river with pools can produce 3lb bass.
I work the spinflys the same way on rivers too.
Weightless T-rigged worm/craw/minnow
Shakyhead/Ned.
Your most successful lure is the lure that spends the most time on the end of your line.
To put it differently, your most successful lure is the lure you made your favorite.
My most successful lure for good-sized bass is a "Gambler Big-EZ" in 'Not So Sexy'.
My 2nd most successful good fish lure is a "Gambler Big-EZ" in 'Forty Niner'.
I almost never catch a bass on a Senko; because I almost never fish a Senko
Roger
Ok I'll explain some stuff.
Presentation senkos 1,
Senkos on a c-rig, 1/8oz weight, 24" leader, weedless hook My senko presentation. Cast it out no scent. Let it fall and keep the line taunt to the rod tip. Move the rod with the line as it falls. Any slight nibble set the hook.
Presentation senkos 2,
Cast the c -rig out keep the line taunt and wiggle the rod tip adding a extra twitch as it falls be ready to set the hook.
Lure color matters. Change colors.

Not really. My favorite is frogs but there are just places where they just don't work. If you can find a place the shaky head doesn't work, it's because there aren't any fish!
Square bill crank and anything T rig
All Terrain Tackle football jig and a senko
Rooster tails and hollow-body frogs!

I fish a lot in the evening so my #1 producer this year has been the chug bug. My #2 producer is a tie between a weightless senko and a rapala DT4
1 Rapala Shadow Rap 4-8 Ft in Shad
2 Wiggle Wart Crawfish Pattern Crankbait

I love the Chug Bug. If you don't already have one, get a Chug'n Spook or a JR. Depending on how you work it, it can be a Chug Bug or a Spook. I like to just give it short rips. It'll chug and walk.
I'm trying hard to make my 2 best lures a frog and another frog.
#1 SK 6XD Chart Sexy Shad
#2 SK Heavy Cover Swim Jig, Menace trailer
For the first 40 years, it was a White/Chartreuse 1/4 oz spinnerbait with willow and Colorado blade. Slayed them!
Last 5 years my favs are:
Squarebill crankbait.....especially the LC Rick Clunn 1.5
Stanley Ribbit Frog in Watermelon/red pearl. Love to fish it!
Gambler Big EZ on either June bug or Florida five-0 and a 3/8 Siebert brush jig with a rage craw on the back.
What is it about Gambler that you Florida guys love? Just curious.
They're just a common bait here and every dicks sporting goods and local shop has them. I don't really think there's another swimbait that could replace my EZ swimmers. Some of the places here that's one of the best/only thing you can fish. I like the Burner worms but don't really care if it's Gambler or zooms version. The ugly otter is a good flipping bait but other than that I don't use anything else that's Gambler. A lot of guys you see using them on social media are on their pro staff. They sponsor a lot of college teams too. Other than that they're cheap, easy to find, and effective. On 7/22/2015 at 8:40 PM, HoosierHawgs said:What is it about Gambler that you Florida guys love? 1. 10" Rage Tail Thumper (blue fleck)
2. Z-Man Project Z Chatterbait/ Rage Tail Cut-R trailer

Florida is the home-base of Gambler, but more importantly,
Gambler uses a very tough plastic that floats, a rare combination.

This.
And since FL waters are relatively shallow & predominately weedy they just flat out work.
strike king structure jig and brush hogs, always have confidence with them.
Pretty much every marina has them. Even a shell gas station by my house on the way to lake O carries them. They're everywhereOn 7/22/2015 at 8:40 PM, HoosierHawgs said:What is it about Gambler that you Florida guys love? Just curious.
4" Senko/knock-off
4.75" Zoom Finesse Worm
Baby Rage Craw and swim jig with Keitech Swing Impact.
If we are talking just this year and number of fish caught. It's gotta be a size 6 xrap on a ultra light. It catches everything. You don't even have to spend a lot of time fishing it to catch 20 fish or more. Then just go right back to normal gear.
Texas Rig & Jig-n-Craw
Texas rig and crankbait .
Yum green pumpkin senkos. Cinnamon or watermelon GY swimsenkos. Im a rookie so im still playing around with different cranks, buzzbaits, jigs and spinners find what works and learn the retrieves.
Jig +Craw/Lobster
Texas Rig
Spinnerbait & Swim Jig.
This year, it's the rapala shadow rap,Ned rig, and close to it is ikes flipping jig
Rapala Shadow Rap and a Black/Red Buzzbait with a Silver blade
Bluebassers bladed jig
Frog
Mann's Jelly Worm 9" in Grape or Black Grape.
The Original H&H Spinner Lure Single Colorado Blade with Black and Yellow.
The only lures available to me as a kid. Amazing how they caught fish year round on Zebco combos.

Those are two of my all time favorites.
I recently found a unused HH spinner but the hook is missing . I liked using them in the Mississippi river along rip rap banks and wing dams .
7.5" ribbon-tail worm, tequila sunrise or red shad, 3/16 bullet weight, pegged and a 3/0 round bend offset hook.
Black & blue 3/8 oz. jig with matching craw trailer

They still sell the hooks seperate. H&H Spinner Double Hooks (5/PK)
It supprises me they still have these at my Walmart but they want nearly $3 each. If I remember right I was paying like .25 a piece for them back in the day.
Caught most fish on poppers and crankbaits, caught biggest fish on chatterbait and t-rig worm.
1/2 oz black/blue jig with paddle-tail trailer.
3/4 oz. fairly-natural-colored spinnerbait with double-willow blades.
