Iaconelli was really hinting at this lure for catching the fish on the Red River at his weigh in.
Think he is trying to just live up to his sponsorship or do you think he really likes it? Would anyone else try it based on this now?
The lures themselves actually look pretty nice. But I think the light thingy is a gimmick.
QuoteThe lures themselves actually look pretty nice. But I think the light thingy is a gimmick.
x2
And, I'll believe thet they were using them when I see the footage.
QuoteThe lures themselves actually look pretty nice. But I think the light thingy is a gimmick.
I assure you, it ain't. Give the bait a try. I think you will like what you catch.
I don't know if it is a gimmick or not but, there web site hits on the point that fish chase lasers similar to the way dogs do and major aquariums won't allow lasers inside the fish area for this reason, me and my family went to the aquarium in gatlinburg Tennessee and I had to see if it was true and it is NO lasers allowed there is a little reasoning next to the sign they claim the fish will injure themselves chasing the laser. Maybe there is something to this lure.
For all those that doubt the laserlure, go to Bassmaster.com and read the article about boyd duckett, the guy leading the Classic. Find the 1 line in there about what he was doing today and tell me what it says.
I thought it was a gimmick until Senko came out in support. I'm even more convinced after Ike's and Duckett's showing. They are the only two guys in the tournament sponsored by them and look where they are.
I don't know if a lot of guys were able to listen to or watch the weigh in but I thought what Ike said was funny.
It went something like, "yea me and duckett both got this speacial bait, I don't really want to go into it, its a special little crankbait we're throwing."
But then in big letters on his jersey is LASER LURE
made me laugh at least
Hey Glen,
Did the topic of Laser Lure come up with Ike on Wednesday? I would love to know what he said about it off camera. Or was he throwing 1? Any input would be great.
Ive used the red popper before and its deadly close to dark when bass are hitting topwater. The lure cost 20 dollars. My laser light has went out in my popper so now its just a normal bait.
QuoteIve used the red popper before and its deadly close to dark when bass are hitting topwater. The lure cost 20 dollars. My laser light has went out in my popper so now its just a normal bait.
About how long does it take to go out you think? You'd think for 20 dollars you'd be able to at least have a way to keep the flash since thats the main selling point on the lure.
On their website they claim it lasts for 80 hours of fishing. They look like nice lures even without the laser flash.
The lure has Lucky Craft quality so when the light goes out, you have a real nice bait. They are absolutely worth the money IMO.
Like someone said before, the blinking popper early morning or late in the day is just stupid awesome. The fish kill it.
Dang it now thats something else I'm going to have to try out. There goes another 40 dollars!
I've told my self since the first time I saw the laserlure that it was a gimmick. You know what they say "if it looks like a gimmick, is advertised like a gimmick....it may win the 2009 Classic!?"
Maybe that will be there new slogan!
I don't know, might be joining the ranks with Mr. Martin's products. It will prpably be advertised to hurry up and get, it is already illegal in 65 states and most tournaments.
2 pages worth, looks like Ikes sponsors got their money's worth!
I played with this idea a few yrs ago during the spawn. Trying to tick off bedding fish with the laser pointer I torment my cat with. No such luck, it didn't exist as far as the fish were concerned.
You know NGC sports came out with a crank like this a couple years ago. I never believed it but my buddy bought three of them. We were out fishing and he was catching fish on them. I wouldnt say his catches improved but he was catching them. The NGC sports cranks just have a little blinking light on the side. These ones are much better quality then those. Who knows if the laser is attracting them or just the crank.
[tt]I think I am going to test the theory of the laser lure and see if it works. I am going to try to find similar lure so that only the difference is the laser.[/tt]
You could buy two and just break the light in one of them. Then you have the exact same bait.
I researched the bait and came to the conclusion that it would work very well in heavily stained or dirty water.
The information did not say the lure would work better in clear or stained water.
But if Senko_77 says it is a good bait, then it is a good bait.
Do not know if I will get one or two until I read more about this bait so you guys go out, buy a few, and please post your results based on water clarity and fishing conditions.
Thanks.
Ike just caught a 4 and a half pounder in his last few minutes of fishing. Giving him a cushion over Skeet. Skeet still has a about an hour to cull though.
If Skeet can't put a couple of 4 lbers in the boat watch out for the next senko, chatterbait and sexy shad craze all rolled into one. I'm glad I talked myself into getting 12 of these 3 or 4 days ago. Might be able to make a little money.
These flat out catch fish. These guys came out to the barramundi farm that I go to and they hooked me and some friends up with some freebies. These lures sound to good to be true but there really not and I would not be surprised if they really did get baned from tournaments. The first time i fished with these I was catching fish on a dt4 so i decided to try one of these out. When i tied on the laser lure i threw it in the water right next my john boat while i put up the dt4 and a fish nailed the bait 2 feet away from the boat while it was just siting there. Also wait till you see there rattle trap bait it is mean looking.
I just looked on the website and they have pics of when they were at the fish farm.
if you were on your lounge chair and someone was shining a laser pointer at you, wouldn't you attack them?? ;D
They hooked me, I just bought 5 today. 1 Popper, 2 shallow cranks & 2 deep cranks.
It's strange how evertime they showed Ike he was tossing the tube. It's like KVD when he says he's using the Sexy Shad, then ESPN shows his rods and he has one Strike King crank and 5 Lucky Crafts tied on!!
How come everyone isn't going out to buy the Crazylegged Chigger Craw!! The addition of those two legs really changes that bait
I was somewhat skeptical about the lure until other members of the forum came out in support now I'm tempted to see if it's really as good as advertised. Thanks Bassresource.com for finding yet another way to help me spend my cash.

You're right. I don't even think Ike threw the laser lure out there. For sure he didn't on day 3. He was throwing a tube. I'd say the majority of the pros were using a tube or crawdad type bait flipping. I'm not saying the laserlure isn't junk but it shows you that you can't trust what some of these pro say.
Zona said that IKE was using "a Generic" red and black 4" tube all week. I didn't see him use the LaserLure...but then, I wasn't in the boat with him all three days.....
QuoteYou're right. I don't even think Ike threw the laser lure out there. For sure he didn't on day 3. He was throwing a tube.
For sure? You saw every single cast by Ike? Ike's throwing one lure for an entire day? Were you Ike's observer for the day? :
Glen could probally let us know....didnt he ride with him in practice? He should know if he used it and if he caught any fish on it

If you believe everything the pros say well then you're not very bright. What I can tell you is that all the fish Ike caught that were shown on TV were all caught on plastics and not the laser lure.
QuoteIf you believe everything the pros say well then you're not very bright.
Decided to reply outside of your earlier PM?
Anyways, I know that the pros are less than truthful in what they throw. They have to promote their sponsors product or they won't be sponsored.
QuoteWhat I can tell you is that all the fish Ike caught that were shown on TV were all caught on plastics and not the laser lure.
Perfectly valid statement. However, that's not what you said in your earlier post.
Just because Ike didn't catch any fish on day 3 using the laser lure doesn't mean that he doesn't use the product. Pros fish the conditons, not fish their primary sponsors. I truely believe Ike thinks there are situations that the laser lure will outfish another crankbait. Also if you look at the pictures on Bassmaster.com from day 3 launch, tere is a a picture of Ike messing with a crankbait and it's hard to tell but it appears to be the exy shad knock off of the laser lure
"IKE fished the conditions"....very good point. I also feel if he had killed them with the LaserLure, we sure would have heard about it at the weigh-in or numerous other occasions.
Don't forget, all he has do do is throw it once to say: "I use the LaserLure and so should you".
I was surprised IKE didn't go on about his sponsors...he let his shirt and boat do the talking I guess!!!
ajr
Darn Baitmonkey - Guess Ill place an order - He is hungary again!
Didn't Dr. Evil equip the sharks in his diabolical shark tank with lasers? Did they catch more fish? Austin Powers never said. He's obviously not a fisherman.
I checked IKE's website, and they are not listed as a sponsor....maybe they didn't update his home page yet!!!

:-?
Ike fished the Laser Lure shallow diver on days 1 & 2 and when the front came through on Saturday night, he switched to all soft plastics on day 3. His decision was perfect and is why he almost won the thing from 9th place. The Laser Lure would have been a dumb choice for day 3.
Senko have you fished these baits?
Ok well I got taken in I just ordered the shallow crank Ill let you all know how it goes.
QuoteGlen could probally let us know....didnt he ride with him in practice? He should know if he used it and if he caught any fish on it
Yes, he was using the Laser Lure during practice. Yes, he caught fish on them.
But just in case you think I'm trying to cover for him because we're friends, here's proof. I took these pictures while out on his boat the last day of practice.
I have video of him catching fish on them too. I will post that footage at a later date.
On the vid Ike said he was using a black and blue one. The one in the pics looks like a Sexy Shad type sceme. Was this the same one he used the whole tourney?
Thanks for the pics Glenn. Can't say I wont give those a try for my up coming night tourneys
Another thing about Ike is that he has access to all the top end Daiwa rods and most of the time I see him on TV he has a TD-S or a Light & Tough in his hand.
I would say they work, its the only type lure its kind and its high quality even if the light runs out. I would buy some.
QuoteOn the vid Ike said he was using a black and blue one. The one in the pics looks like a Sexy Shad type sceme. Was this the same one he used the whole tourney?
The deep diver (first pic) isn't black/blue, which he didn't have success with during practice, but the shallow diver is black/blue (second pic). That's the one he used during the Classic.
So it is interesting Ike caught fish on the Laser Lure but it doesn't prove anything. Maybe he could have caught them on a normal crank as well. Cranks are usually reaction bites I don't think the bass gives cranks a lot of consideration before striking.

Does your camera have a special lens that chnages black/blue to their spicy shad color, or did you just not get a pic of the black/blue one? I know I ain't the smartest person but the lures in those two pictures look to be the exact same color.
I am not cheapskate...but $20.00 for a new un-tested bait???
It looks alot like a Lucky Craft, so minus the laser, I would probably go with LCs for right now or for the shallow cranks, a Manns minus. I'll keep an eye on IKE and see how he does with them.
I am going to save a place in my box for these right next to my:
Doug Hannon Snake
Banjo Minnow
Flying lure
powerpack shad/frog
:
I got the shallow diver and popper in mail today. Threw the shallow diver for an hour around sunset and only nailed one fish on it. Not a huge fan on it yet, guessing one of my rc 1.5's might have outfished it today. The bill and hooks appear a little cheap to me. Time will tell....
I was at the classic and the talk around their was that laser lure paid them two alot of money for the classic in upwards of 100,000 dollars a piece so they would say that they were using the bait. I also talked to a dealer that said that for 15 dollars the bait does not even run true.

This may very well be the single most blatantly stupid thing I've ever seen posted on this forum. Glenn, who was there, said he was using the bait. He posted pictures of the guy's rods, with the baits attached, and you say something like this? Grow up.
I believe that IKE was paid to throw the Laser.....I believe he caught fish on them...I believe that he could catch fish with a piece of string, a saftey pin, and a peanut butter cracker. The proof will be in the pudding...do they REALLY work?? Time will tell. If they don't, I don't think any pro with and morals would throw them and get others to buy them.
As I said earlier, I checked IKE's website, and Laser is NOT listed as a sponsor. This could have definately been a one time thing for the classic...and a BRILLIANT marketing move.
ajr
I dont think IKE is the type that would support a bait if he didnt believe in it.... Im sure it catches fish but does the laser have anything to do with catching these fish or is it just the wobble of the crank? Thats the real question..
P.S. Bassnajr LOVE the new aviator and quote hahaha Great show
Lol. I really love the fact that people are putting this next to the flying lure and helicopter lure. I am not sponsored by them, so I don't have to sell one bait. If you wouldn't mind, please don't use this bait so the next time I am fishing a tournament against you, I have a serious advantage!!!!
i talked to Boyd Duckett and I know hes sponsored by Lazer Lure but he seems like a trust worthy kinda guy. And he says that the lAzer lures are really great quality baits that'll help you catch more fish. now thats not a direct quote but thats basically the jist of what he said.
It's not a laser, its a red LED.
Thanks bassaholic!!!!
QuoteIt's not a laser, its a red LED.
That is incorrect. Their site states that what sets these apart from the other lighted lures is that it IS a laser beam and NOT an LED.
As far as the pros saying they used the lure and got paid for it---that's what they call a sponsorship!!
I have never used these and I am sceptical, but I do think the lure would catch fish without the laser in it, but the real question is whether or not the laser makes it better than a normal crank.
If you don't want to spend 20 dollars you can get them a couple bucks cheaper at blackwatersportscenter.com
plus free shipping over 75 dollars. I just placed an order with them and the guy there said he just got to try the laser lure last week and had quick results with it. He was pretty fond of it but I'll be sure and post what I think of them after i try them out this week! ;D
Threw it for an hour at sunset tonight and nailed three more fish. The water clarity in my lake cleared significantly from last week and the fish were a little more active with the coming full moon. I am starting to believe in this lure. Strong suggest swap out hooks.
I found them on ebay between $10-$15 with free shipping and ordered a SD Shad just to try it out when it gets a little warmer here in IL.
Like some of you here, I made the assumption that this was a gimmick so this is my first time even reading through the thread. The quality of this lure sounds good. The hooks are Mustad. I'm really intrigued now especially after reading Senko77's comments.
When someone gets tierd of their's, you can send it to me!!!

IF the light is a lazer and it projects a beam like a lazer, then the light it emits will be reflected off whatever surface it is aimed. So if the lazer attracts bass, it will attract the bass to the projected beam and not the lure.
IF the light is a lazer and the beam is prevented from being projected and just shines on the inside of the lure, then it may as well be a LED and is no different than the other red LED lures.
The statement about pets chasing the red lazer light is correct, they chase the reflected beam, not the light source. That pretty much shoots a hole in the marketing statements.
they definatly work, I I tried it for the first time today and in the middle of the day I caught a 5 and 2 threes along with several little ones, they loved them.
Ok guys, I will get a couple and give 'em a try.
I just spent my Outdoors Rewards $180 on baits so I will save some pennies and dimes and try to locate this bait.

Which types in what colors were you using? Was it clear or stained water?
I bought the Yellow Ghost Shallow diver Laser Lure at the Classic a few weeks ago for 15.00. I haven't gotten a chance to throw it yet but I am heading out all week and that will be the first bait I throw. I will let you know my results on Monday afternoon.
We'll see if it's a gimic or not!
Pretty interesting subject here. Looks like I might have to give one of these a try.
Anxious to hear some more results.
Later,
I would never buy this bait, regardless if it works or not.
A lure with lazer beams? C'mon. Do we really need this? What's next? Crankbaits equipped with GPS and bass-seeking torpedo's? Electro-shock jerkbaits?
No batteries in my baits, thank you.
Whats wrong with freaking cranks with freaking laser beams in their freakin heads? ;D ;D

So if it worked by helping you to catch twice as many fish in half the time you still wouldn't buy it?!??!?!

A seine net would help me catch ten times that amount of fish in a tenth of the time. I won't use one of those either. :
Call me old-fashioned, but I get satisfaction by tricking a fish with a lure, not a battery-operated electronic device. I'm not knocking anyone who does, it just ain't for me.
Sometimes it ain't about the destination, but rather the road you take to get there.
I went out this AM and threw the Laser Lure and I was extremely disappointed with how "dim" the blinking light is. You can't even tell it's blinking unless your looking directly over it while it's floating on the surface. It really does look like a regular L.E.D. light to me. However, it does have a nice wobble to it.
I didn't catch any fish on it but I will give it another try in low light conditions.
The Laser in the Laser Lures is not as viewable from the surface because it is beaming into the water. It's a very bright Laser and it can be seen better by the human eye at night.
However fish can clearly see it.
I am a firm believer and everytime i use this bait i catch a ton of fish. you should all try it. Its awesome!

how does one know the fish can see it??? are you a fish? do you live under water? do you swimm after this lure? haha just messin with ya,i dont see these lasting to long,im surprised roland martin doesnt endorse these.next the helicopter laser
I never will, having epilepsy, bright obnoxious flashing lights can be a trigger so, yeah I can say NEVER going to try these stupid things. Besides all these things are is a Professionally endorsed GIMMICK.

So, what would happen if a partner took a laser and shined on the popper while the angler was fishing it? Is it going to work as good?
