This is the sixth year I started this thread . I should look back at the other threads and tally them up . You can separate species if you want . Largemouth , spot or smallie .
This year it was a Stanley Ribbet , 6.47 Lbs largemouth.
An H2O Xpress Ultimate Jerk Shad. She was 6.72 pounds. Largemouth, early February.

Biggest Green Bass totally destroyed a 6 in Storm Wild Eye Swim Shad.

A-Jay
Ned rig, the little one, New Money, 6-7 SMB. New Money is mostly green.
Smallies like green. An acquaintance who does pretty well only takes one color to Lake St Clair, and it's of course. . . green. My best tube color is usually green with red fleck, but last trip of the year a green with all sorts of colors of flecks worked best.
Didnt weigh, Smithwick Devilshorse (modified)
April 26, 2019
Zoom Baby Brush Hog. LMB around 4 pounds. Didn't catch any SMB big enough to even mention.
3/8 oz swim jig in Threadfin Shad color with a 3.8" Keitech paddletail. Didn't weigh it, it was 22.25 inches.
Biggest " 5.9 LM " came on drop shot Roboworm.....people's worm.
Lost a much bigger fish on white double willow spinnerbait.
Smallies? eh, they hit anything around here. Lol
Lmb: double wide beaver, 6-10
Smb: spinnerbait, 3-6
Whopper Plopper 110. The bass was 7.92 lb. and a PB. I don't really know if it had anything to do with the bait as my last 2 PBs bit as soon as the bait hit water. It wasn't an explosion as you might imagine from a PB on a topwater. The bait just disappeared and I set the hook. It was July.
Rapala lipless crankbait, original Shad color.
Middle of the summer
9.13
6.81 LMB on the Ned. (1/15th ounce, green head, green pumpkin elaZtech)
7.91 on a June Bug Magnum Speed Worm.
Mike
8.2 on a 1/2 oz Greenfish Ballistic HD Spinnerbait in Sun Gill
6.5 in Palm Beach a County on Green&white senko, wacky.
Cool to see all the different baits in this thread. Proves, lotta ways to skin a cat.

Yep! I think the biggest takeaway is that you don't NEED to use a big bait to catch big fish. Like @Catt always says, you gotta fish where the big fish live.
My PB largemouth in 2019 came on a TX rigged tequila sunrise power worm, unpegged 3/16oz tungsten bullet. 6.2
5-12 largemouth on a black/blue jackhammer chatterbait on Easter.
5.7 lb largemouth Keitech Noisy flapper (hand poured copy using remelts)
4.6 lb smallmouth Shower Blows Mat Hot Tiger

Seems like the bigger ones just suck it in, where as the smaller ones can get crazy attacking a topwater
Didn't get a weigh, but thinking in the 4 pound neighborhood. Caught on a Strike King Rodent on a BOSS finesse flip jig ( no skirt).
Caught it on the best looking spot on the lake, a big tree fallen into the water vertically next to cliff, the only straight vertical drop on the lake.
Largemoth unknown weight (no scale yet) on a 6" Yum Thump'n Dinger, watermelon with red flake, TX rigged with 3/8 oz bullet.

On an earlier trip in the same vacinity, I had another big one come flying out of the water like Shamu with its mouth closed. It was trying to stun the bait. I made a lot of follow up casts with different baits to no avail.
Zoom Super Fluke, bluegill flash color, Texas rigged weightless on a Gamakatsu 4/0 EWG hook
largemouth between 4 and 5 pounds (no scale or tape measure with me)
Me :
bait monkey : BUY ALL THESE LURES
H2o Express Shad color square bill
7lb11oz by far my PB on a 110 Loon Whopper Plopper.
2019 PB: 4.2 lb largemouth caught on Zoom Super Fluke bluegill flash, rigged weightless/Texas style.
Overall PB 5.8 lb largemouth caught on a Strike King 5XD in yellow perch.

I will get a few smallies a year that come flying out of the water next to the bait and they grab it on their way down.
I fish a toad a lot and it seems there are days that they just smack at it like they are trying to stun it.
I used to follow up with my wacky rig and sometimes I would get that second hit not very often though.
I see a lot of people talk about making sure they have their follow up bait ready.
I dont think my success with the follow up is as good as theirs
I had 5 within a couple ounces of each other at 6 lbs.+/-so I think they are all worth noting. Four were on jigs with a z craw trailer, the second largest was on a squarebill.
110 Bone whopper plopper
Congrats on the Smallie A-Jay!!! That's one of the biggest I've seen in a while. That's a trophy anywhere in the US!!

5.35 pound largemouth from the bank. Ned rig TRD. peanut butter and jelly color

2.06 kgs (4.54 lbs) - Spro bronzeye jnr, leopard. Oct ( Early Summer)
2.19 kgs (4.82 lbs) - 3/8 oz War eagle flipping jig, brown and orange, Zoom Z craw trailer. Jan (Mid summer)
All LMB, sadly no SMB's on the highveld.
75 Whopper Plopper in Bluegill...the LM was 6lbs 6oz which was/is my PB by far, especially here in Northern IL.
Biggest this year was 5.2 on my trusty Perch flavored KVD 1.5 square bill that I had retired for 2 reasons.
1. I caught my PB with that lure 3 years ago. I retired it because....
2. They don't make that particular color anymore.
3. Scared to lose it lol
Virtually any other year, I would say Frog but this year was different. BAD flooding early in the year changed my home lake a lot and the frogging was poor this year. In fact the fishing was poor in general in 2019. I did have decent luck all summer throwing a weightless T-rigged Blue/black Senko.
3" Berkley Powerbait Pit Boss in Watermelon Orange flake. 5.2 pound Largemouth, out of what pretty much amounts to a creek.
6th sense minimag squarebill, 8.0lb (PB)
runner up was 7.8lb swim senko nearly deadsticked, and with a weighted hook which I almost never do. Found them stacked up and pulled out 10-15 with a keitech on an underspin and a finesse spinnerbait. Big girl was lazy, all that stuff was going too fast.
Black/blue 3/8 oz jig with a Zoom sapphire super chunk trailer.
Two fish tied for that honor last season. One was on a 1/2oz jig and RageTail Craw. The other was on an 8in. paddle tail swimbait behind a 1/2oz plain jig head. There is a possibility it was the same fish as I bagged them two weeks apart.
6.2 lb bass on a Pearl White 3/8oz Project Z Chatterbait.
One of my home made pbj 3/8 Arkie jigs and rage tail summer craw trailer. Brand new lake and was taking the L when I threw that combo together. Thought it was way to wacky to work. Pitch to a clump of pads. Boom new PB of 18 1/2 inches. Runner up is a bandit 300 root beer crank nailed a 17 1/2 smallie on. After catching many more on the bandit that day I went to m-57 surplus and bought them out
6.48 lb. on a 3/8 fineness football head with a beaver style trailer slow crawlin....
4.6 lbs. on a wacky rig
Best was 8-10 on a Gambler Big EZ swim bait in Copperfield.
Second best was 8 even on a wacky rigged Bitters salty sling (senko) in June bug blue tail
Both came at the end of February
Caught an 8lbs on a white beetle spin.
SpaceMonkey. WaterMelon Red.8.75 LargeMouth
4.8 on a Ned Rig
Four LMB over 20" (no weights) - one each on chatterbait, jig, Rage Bug and senko
Not sure what to make of that....lol

Making my decision to pick up the neo pearl a few months ago seem like a good one!
I caught 2 fish that were 6 3/4lb. Both flipping a texas rig at isolated lilly pads in 4-9 ft. Sweet beaver in flora bama and a magnum structure bug in okeechobee craw.
7.4 lbs. Alabama Rig.
4.5 lb smallie on a Megabass S-Crank, I think it was the 1.2 size.
My version of a "Senko" in Mexico. Haha. Greenpumpkin W/ Black and Gold flake on a T-Rig in 25-30' of water.
I'm late to this thread, but my best came on an old reliable.
1/4oz Black Cavitron buzzbait (red blade)
20.5", 4.75lb (+/- .25, didn't have my scale on me that day)

I can remember a guy talking at weigh in's at one of my first tournaments ever. The guy said "I hate throwing buzzbaits. They never catch anything bigger than 14-15."
I just chuckled and kept my mouth shut.
10" Watermelon Purple/Red Flake Power Worm on a Texas Rig, was only like 4.5lbs though.

Booyah Poppin Pad Crasher in bullfrog. No scale on this trip of course but she was conservatively a 6 pounder.

If it was 9.13 lbs, you can change your PB in your profile.
Caught a 5 lber on an underspin with a keitech trailer.
One extreme to the other - an 8-13 on a 6" Bull Shad and an 8-7 on a Ned (1/2 of a Bumblebee Yum Dinger)
Whopper plopper 130 white in the rain around 6lb
Strike King Lipless Crank - Sexy Lavender Shad
Estimated at 5lbs
Caught a 19" & 20" same day on 1/2oz Picasso Shockblade, my scale battery was dead so I didn't get a weight.
Largemouth just under 4 on a June bug magnum speed worm
tilapia just shy of 5 pounds on an orange beetle spin
1/8 oz Tungsten homemade finesse jig with a TRD craw trailer. Got a 5.59lb Largemouth, which is a solid fish for central Michigan.
I am a little late to this party.
2019 was not a great big fish year for me.
the biggest largemouth was 6 pounds 2 ounces on a shakyhead with a trickworm.
the biggest smallmouth was 3 pounds 8 ounces on a berkley drift walker.
2020 seems to be starting off better. On January 20 I caught a 7 pound 6 ounce largemouth on a jerkbait.
hopefully a sign of good things to come.
Largmeouth: 20", just a hair under 4lb on a Lucky Craft Slender Pointer 97 jerkbait, "ghost sunfish" color.
Smallmouth: 18.5" on a 4" Strike King Ocho in "candy craw"
Caught this SW Michigan prespawn fish last May on a 4.8 " Kietech style swimbait threaded on a 1/4 oz. Vike weedless Underspin .
