First time out with it, and caught a 5lber.
Pics or it didnt happen
I just got one in my mystery tackle box for this month and can't wait to try it out. Still a little early to throw it here I think but will give a try here in a couple of weeks when the water temp gets a touch warmer.
I've reserved mine for use primarily as a night time bait. Was a good idea
Do you think a mh will handle the 90 size?

I'd say it depends on your rods lure-weight limits. Not all MHs are created equal.

Most all MH casting rods are rated at least up to 1oz so you'll be fine if you have the 90.
BTW, I had a topwater fish Friday, so it's not too early, especially with a bait that can be paused like the WP.
Thanks for the info clayton. I will be trying it out here soon then.
One thing I had noticed that I wasn't expecting, is that when you retrieve it super slow, it causes the body of the bait to have a noticeable side-to-side wobble. I like that

Shortest review ever!!
I plan on grabbing a couple 90's and trying this season.
I love the whopper plopper. I lost a 4# smallie and the treble hook to the split ring bending out though.

You should see my Smash Shad review
I love the plopper 90, but I loose a lot of fish on it. Started throwing it on a Dobyns Champion 734 with braid, I've backed off to a 705cb with mono and its gotten better.
saw it in action yesterday and really liked how you can just stop and go with it unlike a buzzbait that will sink when you pause!
I also like how loud it gets when you sweep the rod to the side and pull it through the water faster. All of the different ways you can vary your retrieve makes this a definite keeper. Now I understand why the Musky guys like this style of bait.

I swapped mine out for heavier hooks on the 130. I went to VMC Spark Point 4X strong hooks and haven't had any issues since. I'm fishing mine on a 7' 3" H/F rod with 50lb braid so a hook upgrade was pretty much mandatory.
Awesome topic. Just got one in this months box as well. When I told my brother and asked if he ever heard of it he nearly lost it. He couldn't believe it came in the box. I'm really excited to try it now!
I can't believe you guys got that in your mtb either. It's one of my favorite topwaters for early morning and at night and it's not cheap. I love the chugging sound it makes.
Yea the plopper alone covered the price of the box!
This was my first ever MTB so I'm beyond thrilled. I've been eyeballing the W.P. for a while now but was having trouble pulling the trigger on a $12-$15 bait. I did the promo code for my first Mystery box so the whole thing only cost me five bucks. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in there.

I lost a big largie when the belly hook pulled completely out of the bait. It is possible that I cracked the bait when I landed it too close to a rock. BTW, in my experience it is a big fish bait. I probably caught 6 fish on it before I caught one under 4 lbs.
Line twist?

I fished this thing a dozen times, once when smallies were breaking. They wouldn't hit this thing but they were smashing a sammy. IDK.
I use the red one in the spring, the black one at night, and the silver the rest of the time...One of the best top water baits out there!
First 5 1/2 minutes of this video are all smallies on a WP 130 from last fall here in KS. The second fish was one of the most vicious topwater strikes I've ever had from a bass. Even on the fish eye lens of my Garmin Virb (which don't do long distances well), you can tell it threw a ton of water.
I bought 2 of them.. The 130 and the 90... Can't wait to try them out...
I tried mine out on my lake today and all it did was bounce off the water. I'll have to try it again after the ice melts. Stay tuned for further results.
I tried mine out yesterday. The Front half was spinning as much of the back half. The only way I could get it to stop was to raise the rod tip high or slow roll it. It was pretty windy and choppy so I do not know if that had something to do with it or not. I will give it a shot on a calmer day to see if I have any better luck with it.

Whoa that's really strange
Yeah I really hope it was just a fluke as I really liked the action of it when it worked right.

Makes me wonder if the tail was getting jammed somehow. I'd make sure that tail is free spinning.
I did have a couple of times that it came back with grass in the tail so I could understand on those instances but there was many times it would come back clean and the front was still spinning.
Hmmm, that's sounding defective

Was that a 90 or 130?
