Megastrike Review - WORKS VERY WELL!!! 2024

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

I just used mega strike attractant for the first time the other day, on my plastics. I am a person who is VERY skeptical of scents, thinking action and presentation are more important for bass fishing.

Well I can say safely megastrike does add a few extra strikes and the bass really hold onto the plastic. It is worth it guys!

fishing user avatarGamec0cks5 reply :

Good to hear I just ordered some from TW last night ;)

fishing user avatarHammer 4 reply :

To bad it doesn't come in a trout scent... ;)

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

It's not magic but it certainley seems to help sluggish bass decide to strike and hold on better. Stays on much better than Smelly Jelly and doesn't melt in the intense Colorado sun.

fishing user avatarBobby Uhrig reply :

Was using it on some Spro Frogs the other day-When the bass hit the baits I would let them take it for about 3 seconds then set the hook. Got some solid hooksets and none of the ten or more bass released it before setting the hook. One actually had it almost down its throat and had to get snips and cut the hook and push them through. The bass was released unharmed-more than I can say for my frog-8 bucks- tick me off-

I plan to grease me frawgs up with some as well. Gettin' close to frog season here, some weeds are starting to poke through the surface.

Wait til I start packaging the WING DINGS "THE NEW FROG ALTERNATIVE" These things are sick over weeds-Goo-em up

Megastrike = Good!

fishing user avatarTrippyJai reply :

I haven't seen much improvements in my strike last year, but I like this product a lot. It gives me a lot of confidence in what I am throwing. It keeps unwanted scent away, makes the bait more lubed so it comes through cover easier and maybe the scent will make a uninterested bass take the bait, but I give an opinion on that yet, I haven't used it enough to tell.

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

At the very least I know it doesn't hurt to use it and it will cover up sunscreen or other scents.

fishing user avatarRedhed reply :

do you guys pre soak your baits with it and let it sit in the bag or do you spray and toss? i dont use scents. well rarely do i use them

Megastrike isn't a spray.  It's kind of like Vaseline.  It does 2 things.  First it's a scent that works.  Second it coats the plastic so it slides through weeds more easily.

I don't necessarily believe in scents attracting bass from a distance.  However, I think scents mask harmful odors and help to have a bass hang on for another second or two.  That extra time helps greatly in setting the hook.

good info but that didnt answer my question :-)

fishing user avatarBobby Uhrig reply :

Dont pre soak them -to me that is a waste -Just add a dab as needed. Feel the bait -if its not slick or slimy reapply

fishing user avatarMike Z reply :

You asked if we soaked or sprayed and he said it wasn't a spray. That was an answer to your question.

More specifically, it is a jelly in a tube that gets thinner as it heats up. The same force I use to squeeze out a small drop when it's 60 out got me a whole finger full yesterday at 80 and sunny. LOL

Anyway, Some people squeeze a little into their bait bags and ork the bag to distribute the stuff around. Me, I just rub some on the worm or whatever when I put it on the line. I don't tournament fish, so the 1 minute extra it takes for the step of applying it when i put the bait on is no big deal for me.

Hardens up when you leave it sit in your house for the winter or on the water?

It doesn't harden up at all. It become more solid with lower temperatures. When I purchased my tube about a month ago it was in the 50s here mostly. I had to squeeze like heck to get a little dab out. I made a post about it and the majority of the responses were to put the tube in your front pocket. I did just that and it worked like a charm. The tube was far easier to squeeze. This past weekend it was mid 80s and sunny and leaving the tube in the box got me an even more liquid form.

I have always wanted to try some megastrike attractant, haven't gotten around to it yet. Probably cuz its a gel, I prefer(have only used) spray scents. If megastrike ever comes out with a spray attractant, I'd be all over that...

fishing user avatarHammer 4 reply :

The problem with spray's is, they tend to come off once the bait hits the water..whereas Megastrike Sticks to the bait, for several cast's. I personally wouldn't waste my $$$ on a spray..I have a couple cans of bang that have sat in the garage for a loooonnnnnggg time.. ;D

Nothing better than seeing that oil slick right after you drop your lure into the water.  I think I've got a can of BANG sitting in my garage thats at least six or seven years old.

Megastrike = good stuff

I started adding MegaStrike to all my Frogs last year and won't ever fish one without it again. My hookup ratio is outstanding since I started using MegaStrike. The bass just love the taste of this stuff. Plus I have seen with my own eyes, not on a TV commercial, fishing show or in some tank somewhere, but with my own eyes on my own waters, bass that would come up and take a close look at my frog but not strike it without the Mega, then two seconds after I added Megastrike those same bass just hammered it.

One word of warning though. If you ever stop making it I will hunt you down, tie you up and make you drink a bottle of Fish Formula with Sparkle Scales that has been sitting in my garage since the 80's. LOL ;)

Caught several this morning with some clients. I had kids on the boat that couldn't fish a worm at ALL! They caught 2 a piece and I caught a few with them. It definitely worked to get them to hold on longer. The Senkos were tearing them up ;D

fishing user avatarGamec0cks5 reply :

well i told y'all about me catching a lot of bass on some senkos with some cleints. That megastrike story was cool but nothing like what happened this morning.

I was fishing around some Duck Potato and Pickerel Weed with a Rage Tail Rage Shad. I had mad a few casts with it then I started to notice some dinks come up behind it and chase it all the way to the boat and not do anything. So I applied some Megastrike to the shad. I then kept casting to the weeds and BOOM!!!. I had a bass just hammer it. I fought it for a minute and it got off. It was roughly 4lbs. I then cast it out to the same area a few more times then BANG!!! hauled in a 5lb 2oz pig. Was so excited I was giggling uncontrollable ;) So few more casts in the same general area, BOOM fought this thing for a good while, it was 6lbs 3oz!

So to say the least I'm a believer, those bass didn't just chase that thing down but just annihilated it. I am not saying that is the absolutely only reason I caught those fish but sure did help!

5lb 2oz

I'm 6'4" 205lbs so I shrink fish in pictures but believe me she was FAT!

Thanks BOBBY!

fishing user avatarBobby Uhrig reply :

I have seen bass goi up to frogs and other baits and while the baits were staying perfectly still-they would nose up to them and just slurp them down. It truely wish that I could go fishing with a bunch of you guys just to have you experience some of the things I have witnessed and done  on and below the water.absolutely mind blowing. Time on the water  and experimenting is everything-Its the only way you really learn.

fishing user avatartritz18 reply :

Recently put some on my spro frogs and I have to say it really made a difference. Only missed a few and the fish seemed to really hold onto bait. I used to be skeptical about scents but I really think the megastrike worked!  ;)

Let you know how it goes

fishing user avatarsnapshotmd reply :

I'm not sure whether it is the Megastrike, or if I got better fishing since last year. Last year I joined a bass club and didn't catch too much at all; like 1 keeper all year. I got Megastrike late last year, but I wasn't using it consistently and was only putting on a little on my lures (a small 1/2" dab on my finger, then I smear it on). This year, I decided I was going to use it up by using a lot of it. I came in 2nd place in the 1st tnx. I've been using it on everything I throw now, and I use a lot of it; a line of MS down 1 side of the bait, then I smear it on evenly with my finger. I now consistently out fish whoever my boater is. But then again, I've been more accurate with my cast since last year. I definitely notice I miss less hook ups than my boaters.
