When i was in my mid teens i loved senkos they would catch fish like no tomorrow then i stopped fishing for a while and now im using Swimbaits like the Storm paddletails and or a few jointed swimbaits and they just see to catch SO many fish. I have a thread on the Storm 360 GT Searchbait and by far it is my favorite because it catches fish and that's what we all aim to do lol (Favorite color so far is the houdini color scheme fish love it for some reason)
The usual answer. What is catching them. I do like the keitechs with a charlie brewer spider darter head and plastic craws.
Magnum rage bug or 1/2 ounce jig
By far, my most successful and least favorite technique is the drop shot.
Don't have a favorite. I try to let conditions determine what I use.
My most successful, for quality fish, is a trick worm on a shakyhead.
My favorite, without a doubt is a popper. Pop-X, Pop-Max or Chug Bugs. It’s pretty close to being my most successful lure if it isn’t. I have extreme confidence in poppers. Some popper fish:
Yum Dinger (3, 4 and 5")
Omega Rapture bladed jig
To be honest it really depends on the year. The last few years it’s been wacky rig. I slayed them for 2 years straight with a zoom finesse worm on a owner wacky hook(got my PB 7.5 lb LMB on it). This year though I haven’t picked it up at all. I’ve been throwing jigs a lot more.
Topwater
Strike King J Lee Comeback Football head jig. Absolutely crushes them!
favorite has to be anything on topwater, one rod will always have one tied on.
1/2 ounce flipping jig.
biospawn white worm t rigged
Z Man TRD and a Bandit 100 crankbait.
This time of year I always have a black buzzbait tied on. The storm 360 has been tossed a lot this year as well.
I go through phases of what is my favorite. This year, the jerkbait bite in April and May was awesome. Now, Ned's and DS are the go to. Deep cranks are always a must in lakes that I fish as are jigs. A few years back, my fishing partner and I crushed them on good old fashioned 3" black mister twisters in the fall. Spinnerbaits are also awesome but I find myself fishing them less and senkos even moreso. It's funny to think, but something that I wouldn't consider this year might be the next hottest thing and shut off as fast as it started. Best wishes on the water!
I have a Zara spook that literally has 75% of the paint knocked off it. Have probably caught 250+ fish on it over the years.
Zoom super fluke
Pond: 4 inch Green Pumpkin Senko
River: KVD 1.5 Chartreuse/Black
Other than a Senko, a Shower Blow in the morning does it for me the most.
Hands down, t rig trickworm in junebug, candy bug or green pumpkin. Second is a white and chartreuse spinnerbait.
Current favorite and most successful lure...
My favorite to throw is a spinnerbait. My most productive lure the past few years has been a Popmax.
My favorite lures are a spinnerbait and a popper. My most successful lure is a t-rigged plastic.
Favorite: KVD Sexy Splash Jr. ..... Clear Water Minnow
Most Productive: Keitech Swing Impact Fat 3-3/4" ..... Electric Blue and Chartreuse
Favorite: Megabass Ito Vision 110
Most productive: 5" Senko
Close 2nd for both "favorite" and "productive" Siebert jig/ Rage Tail Craw trailer
Jig N Craw
My nicer smallmouths have been caught about equally on Rapalas, Bombers and Bandits.
But, I do like worm fishing.
My favorite lure is a Norman's Deep Little N. Over the last few years the most productive have been lures with the word RAGE in the front.
Snag proof Bobby's perfect frog. Works pretty nice yr round here. Bruiser baits big stick (6") in close second.
I have a rotation....some years they work better than others and different ones work in different bodies of water better...hard to narrow it all the way down.
Rebel Craw
Pop-R
Zara Spook
Siebert Jig and craw trailer
Bladed Jig
Whopper Plopper
Keitech Swing Impact Fat
Plastic Worm/Lizard/Brush Hog/etc.
Well, hope that covers it! ????
my favorite and my most successful are two different things.
favorite: Arbogast Jitterbug
most successful: 1.- Zoom Trickworm, 2.- 3/8 Oz Single Tennessee gold blade white Strike King spinnerbait, 3.- Rapala Shad Rap SR7 SD, 4.- 1/2 Oz Jig black skirt, 5.- 1/2 Oz Bill Lewis Rat L Trap, 6.- Mepps Comet size 4 in-line spinner.
I definitely have a favorite and that would be buzzbaits . I have worn numerous ones out . My favorite are ones I pour .
My most successful bait is the Texas rig . Lizards , worms , craws... the one I caught the most fish on is the black grape Jelly Worm .

Still waiting on one of these to show up in the mail. . .
Favorite to throw - spinner bait
Most successful and also my second favorite- seiberts jig
A 3xd crank is really been killing it for me this year though

I ordered some from Dick's today... The BPS about an hour from me usually has good stock. I hate going there. I always end up like a kid in a candy store and spend more than I planned... ????
My most productive has been Senkos
My favorite is an old Luck Craft crank bait (can't remember what it's called) that swims about 4-5 inches below the surface. It sort of a top water bait but when fish hit and they just destroy it.
Whatever is working best but that varies during the time of year and season to season. This year has been blackish jugs and creature baits for me.
Allen
My favorite and most productive is the same, Soft plastic Jerkbait. It is my fav so I use these lure through out the year. I use Fluke in Spring and fall as search bait, where I fish faster in water column. I will use Fluke post spawn until summer where I fish slower and let it dance on the bottom. If I see a whole bunch of weed, I'm thinking about Fluke.
Texas rigged creature bait such as a pit boss or d bomb. Also I have been having a good amount of luck with popping hollow body frogs this year. Deps Buster K has been good for me but they are a bit pricey.
Favorite..............Super Spook Jr
Most productive...Jig/RageCraw
My favorite is to throw a frog, but a close second and most productive is a 1/4oz jig, followed by a senko. Those three are pretty much always tied on.
3/8 oz BPS double Colorado black/red spinnerbait with Grass Pig Jr in California color.
Most productive: 1/10 oz. ned.
Favorite lure has to be a Baker BDT suspending crank. There was a 2 month period of running out to the lake with the one spinning rod I owned everyday it got above 45 degrees. That lure led me to my "Ah Hah" moment. I can thank it for slimming my wallet, but also creating a lifelong addiction of figuring the bass out. Caught some nice fish as well.
Gene Larew's 7 1/2" Salty Ringworm Cinnamon Pepper Neon Junebug Laminate
Lucky Craft Rick Clunn 1.5 Blue Bream. I've caught hundreds of fish with this lure.
The most successful for me this year has been the Zoom Double Ringer Worm (Green Pumpkin) wacky rigged! I have never seen anyone use it and it kills it for me on Smallies and Largies! Also a popper has been working wonders, using the good ole Rebel Pop'R and the River2Sea Bubble Popper (Sooner)! My favorite baits though are jerkbaits, poppers, and any type of swimbait (glide, chatterbait, underspin etc.)
What size ned rig would yall suggest for catching large mouth bass ? Like 1/8 oz? They all have the same hook size correct :?

I only fish lakes.
1/16 oz. is the only weight I use. (1/15 oz. if it is a Shroomz head) You can fish from shallow down to 10-12 feet.
if the weight is too heavy, it takes away from the baits action.
If I need to finesse fish deeper, I switch over to a drop shot.
If fishing current I would go heavier.
Zoom Watermelon Red Flake Trick Worm...I'll catch fish anywhere weightless and texas rigged...
good fishing...
Magnum Speed Worm and Rage Bug
Mike
Favorite: Pop-R and Rapala Skitter Walk
My most successful:
Biggest pond bass - about 80% of all fish over 4 lb: buzzbait, any color. Top producer the $4 Dick's banshee in the 3/8 size.
Consistent producers:
Zman finesse TRD and 1/15 oz mushroom head
Yum 3" grub on a similar mushroom head
Keitech Swing Impact Fat: any size any rig. If I had nothing else, I'd want 4.8" on a swinging jighead.
(in warmer weather and low light): Zoom horny toad with a superline EWG 3/0 or 4/0.
Overall reliability:
Zoom trick worm, weightless texas-rigged
No doubt my most fun and favorite lure to fish is a frog. I love the explosions and the anticipation of that bait being hammered. Most of my biggest fish came from buzzbaits, chatterbaits, frog baits, spinnerbaits and my biggest bass over 12lbs was caught on a Carolina rig lurking in the deep water in February.
Plastic worms various sizes styles and colors are my fave and most successful lures. I try to be versatile but plastic worms have caught me more fish than any other lures
In 2018:
Favorite : Sammy or Zara Spook
Most Productive: Texas Rigged Yum Christie Craw or Texas Rigged Havoc Pit Boss
favorite---plastic worms. most successful this year------plastic worms.

Have you found a RC 1.5 color that doesn't work? That is my favorite crank and Copper Perch has caught me fish everywhere.
Allen
My most successful lure, by far the most bass caught, is any Senko style stick bait in 5 inch length, color varies.
But I get bored with it........lol
My favorite lure, which I do decent with, is by far hollow body frogs......I mean really! What beats the adrenaline of the blow up followed by the screaming f-bombs with the missed hookset?

If you need to go heavier than 1/16oz, just fish a shakyhead because that's all you're doing at that point anyways. There's different sized hooks. A lot of newer ones come with "New and improved larger and stronger hooks to handle big fish", because bass are such hard fighters. I pour my own, I use 1/16oz exclusively and pour them on a #2 hook which is "way too small" for bass. I've landed flathead catfish over 20 pounds on them in under 5 minutes, and they're just a regular gauge wire hook, nothing extra heavy or anything. The smaller hooks allow for the subtle action of the tiny baits and easy penetration of the hook with minimal hookset.
My most successful and favorite baits are a homemade jig and homemade bladed jig.
