Hey guys ive been trying the lunkerfrog by lunker hunt the last couple times out. I noticed tho this joker likes to flip over on the retrieve. Has anyone else used these? If these are garbage whats another good brand to get
I have two of those, the medium and the pocket size. I haven't used the pocket size, but the medium fills with water too easily. It got bites and the action was awesome till it started filling up. I complained on their official YouTube video and they told me to take some Superglue to the nose around the line tie and that plastic button that seals the belly cavity, but NOT the hole for the hooks. I did so, but haven't tried it again.
I much prefer the Booyah Pad Crasher when they're hitting it. Better hookup ratio. The hooks are just in the right place out of the box and the body is super soft. I caught what was my PB bass for years on a Snag Proof Original frog. They make some really good frogs too.
I hear SPROs are good. I have one of their older frogs and don't really like it. The body is hard. Maybe they're better now.
I also like a Chug Bug and a Chug'n Spook, Jr. in frog pattern. To me, they get more bites unless the water is just a mat of weeds or there's a big pollen slick on it.
River2Sea Bully Wa II
River2Sea makes the best frogs.
I'm a big Spro fan, if I could only fish one brand this would easily be my choice. Having said that I agree that R2S also makes a very good frog, I want to try the new Bully Wa II.

I kinda wanna try the booyha frogs. Do they tend to stay the right way on the nasty mats? That *** would wind up on its back somehow.
There are several pretty good brands out there. My personal favorite are Koppers Livetarget FGH 55 and 65 T's
I like the SPRO frogs, the popping one is awesome.

Which, of course is your opinion, but not mine or probably many others here. I like booyahs and Strike King's. Are they the best.... I don't know, nor do I care. They work and fit my needs. I avoid blanket statements, they are generally made buy fools or kids.
I like live target in 55 size, booyah and spro for popping frog.
Booyah or Spro. The H2O frogs aren't bad either.
I've caught my share on Strike Kings and Spros, both popping and walking. I have one of the ***s and I like the action when it's twitched but when I try to walk it, which I prefer, it's not worth the money. I have read that the hook-up ratio is nearly perfect on the ***, though not ever having a single strike on it I can't attest to that.

It tends to land right because it's weighted on the bottom. But I believe the others with the rubber skirt legs do the same.
Booyah, Live Target, and my personal fave that seems to get no love here.....Scumfrog Trophy series. Not tried SPRO or R2S.
Of the 3, booyah is the cheapest and are BY FAR the most durable. I catch a LOT of fish on the Scumfrogs but they do get misaligned a lot and and have to be adjusted or the action goes to crap pretty quickly.
The Booyah will roll occasionally when dragging it through lily pads but it rights itself well in water and never had an issue with it.
Several of these already mentioned, but Live Target, Spro Bronzeye Shad and Booyah Pad Crasher are three of the better ones. Seen good reviews on the Ish Poppin Phattie Frog though I haven't tried one. Same with the Nories NF60. I also like the R2S Bully Wa (originals), though I've read the newer "Version II" ones are junk.

I tried a strike king KVD frog for the first time this year and had a lot of trouble with it. I think I hooked up only once. About half the time on the retrieve, I would find the rattle had gotten stuck back by the hooks preventing it from collapsing all the way. I tried bending the hooks up and out a bit and ended up breaking one of the hooks. Enough of that, I say.

I say an $8 frog should not need gluing or tuning to get it to work well. I like the realistic looking legs and it did get bites. But not for long before it was waterlogged. You can squeeze it out but you only get a few twitches before it's full again. And water doesn't flush out of that hollow body like air will upon getting bit. Also the hook points are up against the body.
The Booyah was $6 and caught a 3 lb bass on the 3rd cast. I did trim the legs unevenly to get it to walk better. I'm still learning that technique but getting better. The Booyah hooks are in the right place right out of the box. I see no need to spend more.

Bingo.
Booyah pad crasher works well. Very soft, and increases hook up ratio.
I got a couple LH frogs to try this year. I think they are good frogs, just way to weak. One Pickerel and the frog sinks, where my cheaper pad crashers keep floating. I was thinking of pulling out the leg and putting them into my pad crashers to get the real look, and durability all in one package.
I am not a fan of repairing a frog after every fish, I would rather just throw a horny toad.

Obviously it's my opinion, why else would I have written it? And "generally" only fools or kids spells buy when they should spell by.
Can't argue with the price of Pad Crashers. They might actually be too soft; I find that other brands throw water better and walk better. They still catch fish and Dick's occasionally has 'em for $4 each.
I have high hopes for the new Terminator frog. Most of the hollow-body frogs that I've tried have some glaring weakness (durability, action, softness, price efficiency, etc).
I haven't used the Lunker Frog but I don't like the look of it. I like the Strike King KVD frog and I'm about to try the H2O frog. Looks great, cheap and I love their crankbaits so I'm hoping for the same from the frog.
i like the snag proof ish phat frog. just picked up a poppin one to try. also like those h20 frogs alot. great colors and r cheap
Has anyone tried that Sebile Pivot Frog?
I have always used the Spro Frogs and the Booyah ones as well, but have been using a new one the last few weeks that I like better than either of them. Check out the new Terminator frog, this guy is the real deal.
As I've said before, for "working and walking" to me the Scum Frog can't be beat by any of the mainstream brands.
For a steady or stop and go retrieve, I like the Capt Ken #1 Clone.
Mike
If not for pad Crasher, I would have been shut out last night.
I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you.
KVD sexy frog,Scum frog and Bobbys perfect frog by Snag Proof. I have had good luck with those three.

Is this what you mean by Scum Frog? I see there are several models called that by Snag Proof nowadays, but this is what I think of. I have one of these.
I love the Booyah Pad Crasher and the Poppin' Pad Crasher. It is a well designed frog. Maybe also look into LiveTarget frogs.
Scum frog is its own company i think ....They come in bright yellow package. But that sure looks like it.

That's never good!
Has anyone ever tried the "Flippin' the Bird" hollow body? I'm curious a to if it gets any good action in the water or if the bass seem to like it.
Hey guys I just started frog fishing this past weekend. I got the *** lunker frog basically off of pure aesthetic. I got my first blow-up but haven't caught one yet. I do notice that I have to squeeze the water out often like previously stated. My question though if I were going to purchase another frog to get a better frog fishing experience, which one should I get? Or which one should I stay away from?
I have exactly one frog. It's a Live Target and has worked well. I'm impressed.
Want to pick up a Spro or two also, and a couple weedless poppers.

HA! Sounds like the Chauchat of hollow body frogs.

You'll get about 3 answers repeatedly. My vote is for Booyah pad Crasher. The hooks are in the right place out of the box and the body is just right build for collapsing when bit. I have a good hookup percentage with it. I also have the Junior and Popping PC, but I haven't even used them.
I must say, It kind of cracks me up how much people complain about the lunker frogs. I just fish them until some pickerel rips the legs off and then I put some skirt legs in and POW- now it walks like a normal style frog and it looks sexy as hell.
Another funny one is when people complain that they don't walk, which no frog with the real style legs does well. It's a chugging frog, meaning it is supposed to look like it's swimming in a straight line- which it does. Half the problem is the way people fish them and how long they sit out there to be honest, but it gets 'em when it's subsurface too. Also the eyelet can get twisted. Make sure it's not twisted and it likely will not roll unless you're pulling it over pads in which case schitt's gonna happen with any frog.
Honestly I don't care how much anybody enjoys them though. They work for me and I have several set up different ways.
If you don't like them just buy the LiveTargets and be done with it.

Yes, that's the Scum Frog, it is a separate company, and yes the package is yellow.

$8 for a chronically waterlogged frog is a bit much. Especially when you can get cheaper ones that don't have that problem.

So don't buy them then! I own several and like them. They get hit. They put fish in the boat and they work. Who cares if you have to squeeze it? Plenty of people I guess, I could care less though.

I won't and yes, a lot of people care. And if I don't like a product, I'm going to say so. I respect that you like them. I tried to. I really liked the idea and look of it.
I have a Pocket Frog yet to try. If it doesn't suck, I'll come back and eat my words.

I got a WA55 in bream, and a Spittin' Frog in Leopard. Already made room in the tackle box for these!

And... these are excellent! I'm quite impressed by the quality. Now, if they don't waterlog or anything, I might have a new favorite! They look as detailed as Live Target, and cost a bit less.
^ If you ever have any doubts on the Wa55. Just watch the TacticallBassin' video featuring it, it's absolutely crazy.
I took those out for about half an hour this evening.
Though I caught nothing in that short time, I got to see how they perform. I like 'em! I think they'll be what I buy from now on.
Thank you!
Josh
Hey guys. Picked up a pad crasher today. They are on sale at DSG for 4$.I think the color I got is called Leopard. Anyway do you guys have any tips to walk the dog? I'm using a lews speed spool (6.1) on a Duckett ghost 7ft mh. I'm 5'9 so I don't know if my rod is too long because sometimes I hit the ground. I can kind of get it to do it but then I lose the rhythm. I did get one blow up but I lost it. Think I set the hook too fast. Any tips I think would help

Trim the legs about an inch min and practice. I trimmed one a little more than the other. It takes a little while to get the rhythm, but you'll get it. Don't feel bad about the misses. I missed two today. They just didn't get it.

GoRavens here you go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/how-to-walk-a-frog.html
Doesn't get any easier than this. All you have to do is practice. The frog you own is one of the easiest frogs to walk. Enjoy the vid.
Just get a Scum Frog and be done with it.

KVD Sexy Frog and Ish Phat Frog are my favorites. The Sexy Frog was my first real confidence bait. Try black or white in color.

X2 on the Snag Proof. They don't take on water, are durable, and color selection is more than sufficient. I used to use Spro, but grew tired of squeezing all day.
The sexy frogs are the ones I have to constantly squeeze water from. I use mainly.spro but I picked up a.bullywa with a bill. Is this the one you r2s guys use haven't tried it yet. I'll use any of them as long as I don't have to constantly drain them. I've had spro, booya, live target, paycheck, and scumfrogs so I'm not biased but haven't found a perfect one yet
Thank you for the tip on gluing the lurker hunt frogs nose. I put some glue were the hooks come out of the body too.
I gave one to my grandson for his birthday I need to glue it too.
