What would it be and why, I know this is a hard question but it is a good one IMO
Jig with Rage Craw trailer. I can catch fish anywhere, all throughout the year on that.
The Trick Worm. It can be used for pretty much every technique and works year-round for me.
I fish mainly plastics, im slowly opening my arsenal but I would say a Trick Worm, it can be fished so many differnt ways and bass love em

Spoon, fishes everywhere. Freshwater, saltwater, inshore, offshore and just about any species will hit them.

And the same can be said with Big Hammer swimbait. The 3" swimbait is my go to lure. It's the one that I always have on my vest pocket for Saltwater or Freshwater fishing.

x3 Fish it fast, slow shallow or deep and anywhere in between.....catch fish on jigs all year!!
4'' tube
Big spinnerbait.
Im gonna go buy some jigs! I have some zoom swim chunks, ill use those I like the action they have.
1 bait for the rest of my life ..... tough one, but ......... 5" single curlytail grub plus a good assortment of terminal tackle ( hooks, jigheads & sinkers ) can make a 5" grub an all around bait in the hands of a skilled and experienced fisherman.
i'm 90% bank fishing...
zoom u-tail. with, like raul said, a good amount terminal tackle to be able to fish it differently.
but that little 'ol worm has done well for me.
it might get some smaller fish.....but i've caught plenty of big fish on it too... and if i gotta pick just one...i know it will produce. imo
Probably an in line spinner like a Mepps or Rooster Tail. It'll catch fish of all sizes plus multiple species.
Spinnerbait. You can fish it shallow or deep, fast or slow. It can be used the same as a jig............with earrings as has been said.
Are jigs suppost to represent bait fish?
QuoteProbably an in line spinner like a Mepps or Rooster Tail. It'll catch fish of all sizes plus multiple species.
This for sure.
My second choice would be a frog purely because I enjoy fishing them more than any other bait.
think about going through the rest of your life without a topwater bite. gonna have to go with a rebel pop r
DT 14 silver shiner
QuoteAre jigs suppost to represent bait fish?
Depends on the presentation. In theory when followed the match the hatch school of thought a jig when swimed represents a bait fish, when hopped along the bottom a crawfish. Since I don 't believe in the match the hatch theory I don 't really care what in theory it represents all I know is that it works, swimming or hopping along the bottom.
Gary Yamamoto senko in watermelon/black flake. I consider myself a finesse fisherman and this is the lure that when all else fails gets me bites.
JIG!!!
Shakey Head with a Robo worm
T-rigged Rage Craw (wtml. red)
SENKO ;D ;D
Stanley ribbit. When the bites on there's no other way to have more fun than a topwater.
Good golly, that would be awful!!!!
Double tailed grub in pearl imo. Can fish it like a craw, or rip one tail off and fish it like a shad. Color changes can be done with JJ's.
QuoteShakey Head with a Robo worm
Same here
Rage Craws (which includes the Baby Craws) ;D
At this point in time, I'd have to say a 5" watermellon/blk flake Senko. I have a ton of confidence in that bait right now and it puts fish of all size in the boat for me.....
jig and plastic craw
Wow I'm gonna go buy me some jigs and Rage Craws but what is the difference between the finnese jigs, swim jigs etc.?
get some 1/4oz bitsy bugs or 5/16oz eakins jigs and some baby rage craws. both of these jigs are cheap and very effective.
'finesse jig' is a misleading name but theyre typically smaller jigs like the two mentioned above. many have the the upper rubber strands cut around the jighead (spider).
football jigs are good for rocks
grass and darter jigs are good for grass
i like arkie type heads for wood and for an all-around jig.
i wouldnt worry about swim jigs yet, but the head is designed to be swam through the water instead of dragged/hopped on the bottom.
Zoom 6" Watermelon red lizard! for me
Zoom Trick worm.
I've tried fishing a jig, but I just can't get it.

My favorite bait; as of tonight, I've caught 510 fish so far this season on 5" grubs... 8-)
Costom Living Rubber Jig that I make with a Rage Craw Trailer dipped in JJ's Magic.... naturally.
Baby Brush Bug in Green Pumpkin @ ***
QuoteShakey Head with a Robo worm
I second that.
Catch fish anywhere, anytime,anyplace.

Good info here. If you have smallmouth in your area, they LOVE Bitzy Bug's with a small craw trailer.

While this may not be the perfect bait in every situation, rigged and worked properly it can be used effectively just about any time, any place, or condition. If I had to choose one bait it would probably be a grub.

Oh I thought people were flagging it or somthing
Gonna have to go with the strike king swim jig and the ragetail craw chunk or Yum Swim Chunk trailer. In either Green pumkin or Black with blue flake

Yep. I usually fish it weightless and get most hits on the fall, but the bait "swims" well (lots of action from the tail) and can be fished like a shallow crankbait. Top-water or slop - sure, rig it weedless and bring it across anything. Need to go deeper or bounce the bottom - put it on a jighead or use a slip-sinker.
Like K_Mac said, there are better baits for each situation, but this single bait is very versatile and just flat out catches fish.

How do you guys hook the 5" grubs? Are you using a jig or worm hook? Thanks.
I nearly always use a 1/0 EWG.

Another vote for baby rage craw.
What?!!! And not lug 25+ lbs of baits everywhere I go? What fun would that be?
My vote is a 5 inch "senko" bait. They don't always work but IMHO they do more often than many/most.
4" Charlie Brewer Slider worm on a 1/16 oz Spider head
If I had to choose one bait, it would have to be a 4.5" Bold Bluegill Roboworm. And if I had to choose just one rig to fish them on, it would be the drop shot. This combo is by far the most productive bait and rig ever!
I would chose heavy spinnerbaits with a variety of blades and skirts. A spinnerbait is be one of the most versatile lures.
Alot of people do say that a Spinnerbait is the most versitle bait made.
Some kind of topwater frog. I just get such sheer enjoyment out of using them.
QuoteAlot of people do say that a Spinnerbait is the most versitle bait made.
Yeah, add a jig spinner to a jighead rigged 5" curly tail worm and you 've got a lethal weapon.
Like I said, with a good assortment of terminal tackle you can turn one bait into multiple baits, now that I think about it in more detail ........... looking at it in perspective if I knew back then when I began fishing what I know now ......... I wouldn 't have tons of tackle ! :-?
But purchasing tackle is very fun.
3/4 ounce football head brown craw pattern with pork chunk. All day, any day. The big ladies always will eat a craw.
Very, very tough. Due to it's versatility, I would have to say a spinnerbait though because plastics don't work well in murky water.
Wow 5 pages this is awesome! At first I said trick cause its so versatile but now (cause Ive never used a jig and barely use a spinnerbait) Im leaning towards a topwater frog cause topwater is just so fun
white Roostertail 1/6 oz. catches everything under the water
