what do you think is the best soft plastic bait company? not just price wise, but the one that you believe in the most and would have the most confidence in weather a weekend fisherman just trying to have fun or fishing in a tournament with money on the line?
Berkley, they make just about everything and you can't argue with their success. Brian.
I would have to say it would be Berkley and Berkley Havoc
RageTail hands down.
Now that I plugged you Steve are you going to take me fishing?
I'm surprised no one said zoom yet. i thought that might have been one of the best
Zoom
I like the smaller companies, my favorite is River Rock Baits, they have the best tubes money can buy, super soft and extremely lively. I can also say the same thing about the worms and the soft plastic jerkbaits are second to none and before someone asks, I'm not affiliated in any way shape or form, I just really like the baits, the plastic seems to come alive in the water and I found them by accident.
I fish yamamotos, reaction innovations, roboworms & upton customs.
I liked Riverside a lot especially the Top Gun .
I personally like Yum, but I have very little brand loyalty, just pick up stuff on sale. If I did just choose one company, it would be Berkley simply because they have great, tournament proven baits that run under 4 bucks. Who needs Yamamato when you can get baits designed by Mike Iaconelli for 2.99?
I have a bunch. But Rage Tail I'd a staple. There are some things I like from many different companies, but I have the most confidence in Rage Tail.
Jeff
It's a toss up between Strike King and Berkley.
Strike King for their line of traditional plastics and of course their Rage Line which I absolutely LOVE.
Berkley because of their vast variety ... between Gulp, Havoc and Powerbait they cover it all!
If I had to choose just one ... Berkley.
I probably like Rage Tail products the most, but Zoom may have the widest selection when it comes to different styles and colors of baits.
Here it goes:
Zoom
Culprit
Ecogear
GYCB
Imakatsu
Fish Arrow
Strike King ( Rage Tail )
Bass Assassin

And MegaStrike, too!
roboworms, berkely, yamamoto to name a few.
Zoom and RageTail products are my favorites!
Venom, Venom, and Venom.
Oh, did I mention Venom?
Hootie
Zoom
Megabass because of there innovative designs and colors. My PB was off of the Bumpee Worm.
Anything works when you find them. Until then ? Nothing will work.

Pretty much this, BPS is a contender due to the large variety of baits and color pallet they offer.
I think it's all about innovation and product delivery. Here is something you might find interesting:
Big O invented "The Ridge". Look closely at your Rage Tail baits and you will see "The Ridge".
This gives these baits a unique action. Other brands have copied this innovation, but it is patented.
The result has been, other knock-offs have had to "cease and desist".
As importantly, Rage Tail products come in a blister pack that insures the baits are delivered as
designed. The baits are perfect when you buy them and rigging instructions are precise. Quality
products from a quality guy...
Zoom and rage tail are mostly what I use
Zoom.
Zoom, Keitech, PTL, Rage, Minda, Roboworm, GYCB, Gene Larew, Jackal, RI, ZMan, Berkley, SK, LFT, too many good plastic baits out there to choose just one.
Zoom and Gyb each have a good variety of types and colors but roboworm have great finesse type soft plastics those are the main 3 company's of soft plastics I use.
Zoom
Rage Tail
Keitech
Gambler
Lake Fork
Lunker City
In a nutshell.
Rage tail. No doubt
Berkley, Rage Craws, GYCB, Zoom, Elaztech,
I really can't think of a bait company that I would refuse to use, heck I think the discount generic baits keep up with the best of em (gander mountain brand, bps brand, etc). I may prefer others but that might be because I used certain brands first and gained confidence with them, not because they are actually better.
With that being said, I do like berkley and roboworm for soft plastics and storm for cranks so far, but use plenty of other brands in combination with them.
Zoom only for trick worms and flukes
Reaction Innovations only for beavers and Skinny Dippers
Rage for all others
Mike
Rage Tail
Netbait
Gambler
MegaStrike (just started to use there baits and I like there action and durability)
I like Berkley, I switched to them from a multitude of brands like GYCB, Reaction Innovations, Zoom, robo, SK etc.... I catch just as many fish, and at $2.99/bag for the Havoc's I am enjoying the same success on the water with more $$ in my pocket.
The Havoc line pretty much has me covered from top to bottom for what I do.
5" stick........check...the flat dawg
creature bait that come in a couple sizes, and can be used alone, on a punch rig, and as a jig trailer.........check.........the pit boss
straight tail worms that I can flick shake, shaky head, c-rig, t-rig,............check...........the bottom hopper
swim jig trailer..... double check..........the subwoofer, and grass pig
versatile 4" baits that I can flick shake and drop shot with............. triple check.............the money maker, 4" bottom hopper, and the back slide
swim bait.................. double check.............the sick fish, and grass pig
compact punch baits............... double check............the slop craw, and devil spear
wobble head jig bait.................double check.......... pit bosses, and devil spears
craws with action claws..........double check..............craw fatty and rocket craw
About the only Havoc plastics I don't use are the 3" Powerbait twitchtail minnows, 4",7"+ 10" power worms, 4" power grubs, and a couple of Gulp products.
I wouldn't say that there is a best bait company. Each manufacturer seems to have one or a few baits that really excel.
I use all of the above but really like Gambler.
GY
Rage Tail
Zoom
Every brand is different. I wouldn't get stuck on one. I personally am a fan or Big Bite Baits, Berkley, and Zoom.

They work good.

This....almost...how about like this:
Zoom only for trick worms and flukes
Keitech for finesse and soft swim baits
Rage for all others
I carry (and use) a lot of other stuff, but I could probably safely cut back to just the above....except maybe some senkos....and perhaps some roboworms....and....man...who am I kidding....I NEED all 50 pounds of plastic that I carry
Big Bite Baits!! also Berkeley Havoc. I really have favorite for each type of fishing(such as jig fishing is Greenfish Tackle and Siebert Outdoors, Topwater is Lucky Craft, and etc.) but overall its Big Bite Baits, Berkeley Havoc, and Greenfish Tackle.
Strike King.
For soft baits, I would go S. Plastics and for hardbaits, Pradco...
I feel as you've restricted your parameters a little. Let's expand "manufactures who produce bass baits" to manufactures who produce bass baits and walleye, crappie, trout, catfish and salt water species baits... and distribute their products world wide. Soft baits companies I'm impressed with are Berkley and Kalins.
oe
#1 Keitech
I also use:
Roboworm
Don Lovino
I don't use many others unless something is out of stock and I am forced to use another brand.
i feel like Strike King has the most diversity. Has its regular SK stuff, the KVD perfect Plastics, and then they added Rage Tail a few years ago. Good grief, you can get anything you want! They even have some of that Elaztech stuff! Cant go wrong with Strike King. That being said, I use a lot of Zoom, and Netbaits stuff too.
Berkley and Big Bite Baits are my personal favorites. Lots of choices and good value.
Zoom!!
Of course it's Yamamoto. Gary invented the Senko which is one of the most effective and versatile baits, plus it's been copied probably more than any other bait in history.
Roboworm and zoom
Zoom,manns,SK,mister twister,zman,yum Berkeley
Ive narrowed it down to zoom, ptl, berkley (powerbait and havoc) and bps worms specifically.
I started using Big Bites because of the price. I keep using them because they/we catch fish. If I find something on sale I'll pick it up but when I NEED more, I go buy Big Bites.
Culprit ribbon tail worms have stood the test of time. The best ribbon tail worm I've ever used, and still do.
SK Rage Tail
Zoom
Havoc
Yamamoto
99% of my soft plastic fishing is done with 4 brands:
Culprit
Rage Tail
YCB
Zoom
Wave baits. The scent is killer around here.

This is how I feel. There's some I like more than others but some companies have that one bait or even that one color that just works better than everyone else's for some reason or another.
I always wondered this....With soft baits, since only a handful of american companies make their own baits in house, does the OEM own most patents which is why their is so much rebranding and copies of each other, and as for the Flange on Rage Tail- didn't Lake Fork adverstise the Flange on their beaver years ago, same with Netbait? paca craws very similar..I believe Netbait makes their own baits in house but Lake Fork 99% sure does not, so OEM may have had that Patent and Strike king defiinately tweaked it and improved it on better designs as well, but I would venture to say that Strike Kings business is way more valued of little lake fork to the OEM.....
I was curious if Strike king is only big enough to put in the patent and afford it first and then that way they can stop the other baits which are popular. Kalins made in same place has a flange on their new grub...Confusing.
Big O invented the "flange" or "ridge" and patented it for his Rage Tail Baits.
Other companies began copying the design and Strike King has gone after
them aggressively.
