Whats your favorite??? I dont care about the conditions but just fishing guys ur go to lure? The lure you caught Walter or Big Mammoth on.
Name it guys
My hottest topwater lure, ever is the BPS/XPS TOPNOCKER it's my hottest fish catching lure ever. I gave two of these to both my son's and within minutes they were catching bass on it too. Too bad BPS discontinued the awesome topwater fish catching lure or was it outlawed? Luckily I have six left. It works with any presentation. Now it went along with the flying lure to its tackle box grave what a shame.
All lures will catch fish at onetime or another. Some lures will catch more fish than others. I just don't understand why they discontinue such a hot topwater lure.
Recently Bomber discontinued the Bomber FAT A crankbait. It's one of my hottest crankbaits in the older proven fish catching colors. Luckily I have a big box of all these FAT A's in all the colors. This is my go to crankbait. These colors still work at all the places I fish at and the new places too.
Hint,
When we look at lures that are sold out or on backorder you know that's a hot lure and In demand.
Texas Rigged Beaver. Can catch them anywhere with it.
A guy in a bass boat caught two nice bass near our dock. I asked him what he used, since the grass was so thick there I couldn't get my lures through. He showed me a Texas Rigged plastic worm. He gave me some bullet weights, hooks, a bag of worms, and showed me how to rig it. That guy changed my bass fishing forever. I was probably 11 or 12 at the time.
buzzbait or jitterbug. my most exciting fish come on them.
EDIT: whats up with my font
Favorite lure is the zoom trick worm, the lure I caught my PB with is a 4" senko. If bass ate a spinnerbait with abandon all the time that's all I'd throw.
Black and blue jig and a black craw with blue claws as a trailer
Frogs!! When spro frogs first came out, I got one just to check out. This was all before I ever knew about BR. One day, while fishing nothing was working, I said what the heck, put the frog on and OMG!! The strikes and fish I caught were on unbelievable. Since then, I have used a frog as one of my main baits.
The Senko brought me back into bass fidhing. 50 years ago it was the original Floating Rapala.
Before that the Creme Purple Worm, Devil Horse and Lazy Ike.
Wow, that's a tough one. My PB was on a white spinnerbait. But the Jig is my "go to" lure. Meaning when I "go to" the lake, its always tied on.
The buzzbait turned my thoughts on fishing from slow and boring to fast and exciting, buzzbait.......

Have a similar story, some twenty something years ago a couple of guys in a jon boat had a stringer of fat bass 3-4lb range.Caught them all on a "TOMATER'' colored worm. They gave me a handful and it wasnt long after and I was hooked on this worming technique, still am.
Frogs are by far my favorite lures. If I was forced to fish only one I'd have to go with a Bronzeye 65, I've tried many different brands of frogs over the years and most I never buy again but the original Bronzeye 65 hasn't left my tackle box since the very first one. My favorite right now is the Spittin' Wa 70 but the good ole Bronzeye 65 is the standard to me.
On a bit of a side note I can't wait for the Bronzeye Shad, gonna be a killer bait.
Frogs or Skirted Jigs, can't make up my mind today.
Deadsticking a pink buzzbait really fast or burning it really slow.
Killer.
Shallow Shad-Rap in Shad for everything. Wading creeks or streams, rivers or lakes in my kayak, fishing points out of my boat. Whatever. I almost always have a Shallow Shad-Rap tied on. Now I use the scatters too.
Jig for sure. brown rubber/watermelon silicone

I just started fishing Texas Rigged Plastics this summer, I am forever hooked on bass fishing. I am learning new stuff everytime out and its awesome.
I can't tell you how many big bass I've caught doing this.... ShhhhOn 9/28/2013 at 3:53 AM, SPEEDBEAD. said:Deadsticking a pink buzzbait really fast or burning it really slow.

6 inches manns purple worm...t rigged then a super spook white with redhead.matter of fact I could do with these and need nothing else
Creme worm black split shot rigged tossed in the weeds. We would row the boat off the shore till the weeds disappeared, then anchor and fish the weeds and watch the line for movement.
I threw the split shot rigged black creme worm not too long ago in a local lake from shore. I caught a 4lb bass. On the first cast I got a thump. I thought the split shot hit a log or a rock. On the second cast he took it.
I think the plastic worms are still the number one bass bait even today.
Hildebrandt "the blade" spinner bait . They are hard to find these days but one of my all time faves
Uh, no. That's not a rule that I would go by at all. In most cases that lure that is sold out or back ordered is one tht is low production because of low demand. That's generally true of everything in soft plastics and small hard baits. Yes, there are exceptions to the rule, but it's quite rare. In most cases lure manufacturers have a pretty good hold on what's popular, as do retailers, and they're not going to take lost sales on those items. They're going to be well stocked and well supplied. On 9/28/2013 at 1:16 AM, bigbill said:Hint,

Favorite lure of all time is a jerkbait. Period. Most productive lure of all that I fish is a jig.
Me too, but in fluorescent orange an flame green. On 9/28/2013 at 3:53 AM, SPEEDBEAD. said:Deadsticking a pink buzzbait really fast or burning it really slow.

It changes over time. When I was a youngster and a newbie to bass fishing the original Rapala Floater was my favorite lure. Later on, the spinnerbait and the T-rigged worm became my favorites. I enjoy fishing a jig and craw now more than other lures. Who knows what the future holds?
Banjo minnow...................Bazinga! I would have to say a blue fleck colored berkley power worm. I have had a lot of luck this year texas rigging them weightless.
Got to be jerk baits. For some reason nothing can touch the amount of fish I catch on soft plastics such as the slug-gos, senkos and even drop shot plastics like the fish belly hawgs trigger and danced through cover.

Banjo minnows and Senkos don't count. They are in a league by themselves due to their effectiveness.
Bill Norman Snatrix.
I would have to say it is a tie with me between a frog and a jig
Spinnerbait for me!
I agree with Senile 1 that my all time favorite changes over time. When I was a kid a pre-rigged purple worm with a spinner on the front; as a young man getting back into fishing, a T-rigged motor oil Culprit worm, and a grub and Darter head jig; a few years later a black jig and black Uncle Josh pork frog opened the world of deeper structure; when I landed here several years ago I discovered the joys of a wacky rigged Senko; now a chatterbait, or as down4ttown mentioned a T-rigged Beaver might get the nod, or maybe a Trickworm and shakyhead combo, maybe a shallow or square bill crank, or even a deep crank -something I never thought would happen. Who know what's next? Swimbaits? A-rig? Banjo minnow? The next great thing? We'll see...
Split shot of a Zoom Utail worm. Pumpkinseed/Chartreuse. Tru-Turn hooks. Used as a kid, caught hundreds of fish for me. Reminds me of fishing with my Dad.
id have to say it would be a texas rigged worm or jig. i like them both equally.
Ok.....my go to/favorite worm is definitely a Zoom U-Vibe Speed Worm, Green Pump or Junebug Red. BUT...my favorite lure to catch fish on is most definitely a spook style/walking topwater. The rhythmic retrieve on a long casts....... and the strikes are like nothing else!

I havent figured out how to use these lures but will keep on trying them
Spro Bronzeye Frog
Lucky Craft LC RC1.5
5" Watermelon/Pearl Senko
Damiki MTB or Stanley Ribbit Frog, depending on the cover at hand.
What year is this? What time of the year?
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING beats a topwater strike. Devils Horse or a Buzzbait for me.
Then the tried and true T-rig worm is always tied on.
I went through, heck who am I kidding, I am a jig-a-holic.
Now these big swimbaits.........
Jeff
I think the Rage Tail Shad must be my favorite lure of all time, fishes like a buzzbait, kill it on the retrive and let it sit, bring it over pads/scum, slowly wake it..DYNAMITE!
Now its a jig and craw. When I first started fishing many moons ago it was a silvery colored Cordell big-o. That lure could catch fish anywhere.
Senkos and senko style baits, have now replaced the spinnerbait as my go to lure.
Gene Larew 7 1/2" Salty Ringworm Cinnamon Pepper Neon Junebug Laminated.
Texas Rigged, 1/4 oz bullet weight, on a 3/0 Mustad Straight Shank Denny Brauer Flippin Hook
Used this setup for 38+ years

Are you fishing this bait weightless? What size hook.

Rigging info can be found right on the Ragetail site. Scroll down for the shad:

Most of the big bass I've caught were skewed to one single lure.
I live in the north and 4lb+ bass is a good fish 20 inch+
Half of the 4lb+ bass I've ever caught were caught by lil ole Koppers Walkin' Frog..
if it were a general, it'd be highly decorated with medals all over.
I like to see the fish smash the Lunker Punker and my Xwalks but most of the big uns hit my KWF.
I love my senkos and sometimes even a fresh night crawler will get them going.
My favorite treble-based lure was and always will be the Rapala Mini Fat Rap (discontinued - not smart if you ask me). The newer versions just don't work as well.
My favorite soft plastic craw - Powerteam Lures 3.5" Craw D'oeuvre in Kitchen Sink or Black/Blue
My favorite stick bait - Powerteam Lures 5" Sick Stick in Green Pumpkin Light Blue Swirl or Black with Blue flake.
My favorite spinnerbait - Strike King 1/4oz Rocket Shad (but I replace the skirts with a custom tie for better endurance)
My favorite topwater frog - Stanley Ribbit in black, watermelon pearl and catalpa

Weightless with a 4/0 ewg hook, if you want longer casts for whatever reason use a 4-0 keel weighted swimbait hook, in this scenaro it can also be fished as a swimbait slightly under the surface, ive had a lot of strikes with this as well
Make sure you vary your retrives if your not getting bit, sometimes they want it slower or faster depending on conditions
The thing you need to understand about this bait is that its a BIG FISH bait. All my biggest fish this year came on a rage tail shad.
Also for some reason even though this bait is a topwater, i get bit a lot when the sun is out on it also.
Just dont be afraid to throw it whenever you feel like catching a big bass.
-Mike
I love fishin' jigs, swim-jigs, senkos, AND WEIGHTLESS FLUKES. I cannot for the life of me utilize the hundreds of other baits I have due to me thinking the next fluke cast will catch a fish. ZOOM SUPER FLUKES, BABY.
Zoom Trick worm.
I really don't have a brand, but my favorite and all time favorite type of lures to fish are swimbaits. Any where from 7-11 inches. Anything under that doesn't give me the satisfaction of catching a bass.
T-rig !!!
I love pitching trigged craws or beavers. and frogs in slop is great but those big ol bass love big swimbaits probably those 3 techniques are what i love to do but i don't box myself into those techniques.

Sounds a lot like me. Original floating Rapala and the purple Creme worm. Everyone used purple so we called them "purple worms", not plastic worms. I remember using a lot of the pre-rigged ones with two hooks and a small spinner in front. The Lazy Ike was also a good producer.
I've been a Senko convert ever since I discovered this website. I never head out for bass without a weightless T rigged Senko on one of my rods and probably do 80 percent of my bass fishing with that rig.
Some other all time favorites include that original Rapala, Shad Raps, Heddon Torpedoes and Jitterbugs. I used to like the Hula Popper too, but the last time I bought a few the quality of the lures was horrible.
Easy, Spook.
Punching, Frogging, Jigs and Ripping are close behind, but a spook is just too much fun.
My favorite is the one I caught my last quality fish on. My avatar was caught on a plastic jerk shad about 10 days ago, so that's my favorite.
~ 7" ribbon-tail worm, tequila sunrise (or something similar) t-rigged. I've caught more quality bass on these than anything else, and it ain't even close.
Tom
Whichever one will catch a bass right now. If I caught my pb on a topwater that's all I would fish.
Cavitron Buzzbait- Nothing like it
Being asked to list my favorite lures is somewhat akin to being asked which I like best- blondes, brunettes, or redheads. But if I HAD to choose:
My two largest bass (a 7 and 6 lber) were caught on a Rapala Glass (Shad) Rap so I guess that has to be my favorite big fish bait.
I can almost always catch something with a floating Rapala if the going gets rough so this would be one of my two "desperation" baits.
Same goes with a curly tailed Gulp worm (my other desperation bait). It's almost like fishing live bait.
A Texas-rigged Berkley Chigger craw (with or without a skirt) will go places that ordinarily jigs will not (and they're less expensive to lose when you actually do hang up). Dropped vertically down into a flooded tree, it is a killer. With those soft pincers, it is also a pretty good swimming jig.
For topwater, my first choice would be a Heddon Tiny Torpedo. Another favorite is the Devils Horse but braided line tends to wrap around the back prop so it takes second place. I like a zara spook but the fish seem less often to be in the mood to hit one of those whereas with a prop bait I can almost always entice something to bite.
When the fish are fairly active, a spinnerbait fished in the flats can cover a LOT of water quickly and can be deadly.
my go to lure is always a jig. a jig and pork will, in my opinion, more consistently catch big bass than any other lure.
bo
Without question my favorite lure is a Texas rigged plastic worm. This rig is so versatile and can be fished in cover with few snags. You will catch fish on this rig 6 of 7 days of the week. Also, you can rig any soft plastic this way.
