A friend gave me an old lizard lure, that I had GREAT luck with until a catfish swallowed it. I cant seem to find what brand it was. The head and body were almost flat, the eyes were slight raised up from the head. They were just two little dots. The head was round, not pointy like the typical zoom lizard, etc. Also just after the head it had 2 or 3 "rings" before the body, for the neck area. It had a ribbon tail like a culprit worm. The legs were extremely thin. This thing had amazing action. The slightest bit of rod tip movement made it swim back and forth like crazy. My friend doesnt rememebr the name of it either, just that it was some old lure he found lying around the shed.
Anyone know?
Pictures would be helpful
Tom
I wish I had one. I'll make a drawing of it and post that.
Alright I'm not an artist but here's what it looked like.
Your kidding,right?
Haha, sorry man that's all I got. That one lure was the only one I had. Like I said it was found in a shed, could have been 10 years old for all I know. I think this mystery will go unsolved. Thanks for your reply's though.
was it a soft plastic that you had to rig? was it hard plastic? did it come prerigged? what length was it?
Don't feel bad , this world is full of unsolved mysteries , just add yours to the top of the pile.

Not to make in front of you,but man that drawing made my day......I was laughing pretty hard to be honest.

Gambler Loco Lizard? It is kind of like you described with the rings around the neck and the ribbontail. The Loco Lizard is a little different than your picture in that it has paddled feet.
Yeah it was a soft plastic lure, I'd say either 5 or 6".
Haha, hey I warned you guys before the drawing. The lure actually did look similar though, the head was perfectly round, about the size of a dime. The body was pretty thin and flat. Oh well. If I ever figure it out I'll post what it was on here.
The closest thing I have found would be the body of a Berkley original power lizard (not the crazy legs version) but with a round head like a Lunker City mud dog.
Can my son use that pic for show and tell?
Just bustin on ya.
Sure. It's a pretty sweet pic, took me about 3 hours to do the shading on the neck.
Here's the only real picutre I have of the lure, but you can't see it because it's in the catfishes belly.

I laughed pretty hard too, especially after I read the next post after it.
It's a Rebel Ringnecked Lizard. But good luck finding anymore of them since they were made right around 1985 and are no longer in production.
Or could be the Rebel RedNeck Lizard. Only picture I could find. http://www.ebay.com/itm/REBEL-Redneck-Color-C-Lector-soft-bait-plastic-lizard-/110744320944
Definitely not the redneck lizard, i'll see if i can find a pic of the ringneck, that very well could be it, thanks for the lead!
I found it!!
could it also be the old flap tail lizards?

That picture is almost as informative as your drawing.
Somebody said this is just another mystery, but I'm pretty sure we've actually SOLVED a mystery. Perhaps you've heard of the Loch Ness Monster...?
Id cut it out of that fish in a heart beat especially if its the only one I had how many catfish are there a hundreds how many baits one .fish has got to die.
id go look at website soft plastics.
BPS and TW come to mind.
Why didn't you just cut it out of the catfish? Did you release the catfish with the lure stuck in it's gut?

He fried the catfish up and hate it, we'll never know.
Yeah, I released the cat. I cut the line and let him go. I didnt have anything to keep him in to take him home.
Got lucky, my friend found another one that he had. He thinks there may be a bag of them in the old shed afterall, when he checks I'll let you guys know what they ended up being. Anyways, here's the lure. Haha, looking back at the picture I drew, I drew the legs backwards, they're actually forward facing.

That's the prettiest lizard I've ever seen.. No wonder it caught fish.
Now I'm curious, it looks different than any I have seen. I hope you can find the name of it. It looks like something I would throw.
The only lure I can think of that comes close is the Gambler bait, but the head is different.

Cabela's Aqua Glow appears to be relatively close?
i think it might be a culprit lizard i have some stored somewhere from late 80,s early 90s i do belive
It appears that it is a lure that has escape the knowledge of the 30,000+ members of this site, may I suggest going over to the tackle making forum and finding someone who can make a mold of it before you fish with it again.
Morelures I believe makes all of his own molds and his lures are second to none so I would start there.
Capt.O
Thanks Capt. O. Thats a great idea. It'll be the weekend before i can get back out there and see if there really is a full pack left, and if so what brand they are.
Thanks for your help everyone, I'll update this as soon as I know something.
Between your drawing and the posting of the bullhead with the hidden lure, you have made this a great day for me. I was tired and somewhat grumpy and those things just made it go away.
thankyou
